Chibi Halo You know I've been wondering lately if the block feature on Gaia could possibly used as a way to harass people. What I mean is could enough high profile regulars in a forum block someone to the point where they don't see any new major threads being posted in an effort to drive them from the forum. I know it's hard to prove but since the last massive site drama and the typically nice and get along with nearly everyone people blocking people for reasons unknown or simply because they don't agree with someone (which is petty in my opinion) you do have to wonder if some blocking is targeted.
Not sure what you mean. I think some folks jump on the threads posted by "that guy" rather than check which one was posted first, And then others jump into whichever thread is more popular, gets bumped up more. I also think those threads have way too much drama surrounding them. sweatdrop

Take the GCD for example. If they were a person who made all the lists each month or were a part of the daily lists and had fan threads that discussed and updated people on things and they blocked you then you'd be left out of seeing any discussion on items. If enough people who made item threads blocked a person they wouldn't be able to see any new item discussion at all and the forum would be nearly useless to them. So could that happen where enough people who regularly make the majority of threads in a forum block someone to the point where that forum becomes useless to them as an attempt to run them out of the forum.
That's what I've been wondering recently. Could blocking not be a tool to keep someone from being harassed but in turn become something used to harass someone. Is there such a thing as targeted blocking for no reason other than to keep someone from participating in a forum?

Aah, okay, I see what you're saying now. I had only heard that when you block a user, you don't see their threads and they can't post in yours. I didn't realize they couldn't even see yours. (I don't block a heck of a lot of people, and I don't know of anyone who blocks me.) If that's the case, yeah, I guess that's possible in theory. Though doesn't that just beg for backfiring? It's a dangerous power, and why I've started warming up to my own character's philosophy of "swear no enemies" -- burning bridges goes both ways. If they start cutting themselves off from members of the community, it's cutting ties of support to their own threads, you know? Still, if you think you have some solid evidence that this is happening, gather it and get the mods involved. Otherwise, the best thing to do is take the high road... make better threads that are more inclusive, and let any jerks reap what they sow.

It'd be very hard to prove though. I don't think it's actually happening but after a former monthly list maker blocked me because of that last major site drama for unknown reasons, but possibly the very petty reason of "you look like you're all for HQ so you have to be a staffer in disguise so I block you", it had me wondering if that was possible. Someone said during that they blocked the people who started some major drama threads in order to not have to deal with the drama. You block them and you can't see anything they post. In turn they can't see what you post. It kind of eats at your gut when you find out you've been blocked and not know why.

Kid Jak well made my first edit in a long while I had an Idea to go through return and make ever character wear the Gaia T-shirt to help get awareness out there. I had the same idea but for all the NPCs before I saw your post. I've been busy editing here and there. I can only edit so much before I'm a bit tired. I've got a thread up in the artsy area of the guild if you want to swing by, post your done NPCs, etc.

Hey gang making a post here to let you guys know about a pretty massive contest coming for the Halloween event from the Gaia Casimir Alliance. We're going to be holding our first ever GOSH NPC fan art contest during the Halloween event. Our winners will walk away with prizes going for billions, including eight NPC dolls and Red Horns of the Demon. I thought I'd let you guys know ahead of the event to give any artists in the group more than enough time to start working on either a regular piece of art or a little chibi art for the contest in the medium of your choosing. Also, we have a special prize for the best Chibi Gino we receive in the contest.
So if you do art please consider giving our contest some consideration. And why not stop by our event thread when the event goes live anyhow for other contests and fun. We're giving away billions for this event and have something for everyone. Anyone else super not surprised bummed about the zomg announcement? I hate to be that guy, but a lot of people (myself included) don't really buy that they ever planned to put it back up regardless to their statements say they did.
I didn't even play zomg much, but this personally just added a hell of alot of fuel to the 'the staff as a whole doesn't care about the community anymore' fire that's been burning for a while now. Ugh. This paired with the Halloween event we just had--all I can say is apology not accepted. I don't care how "truly sorry" they say they are.
Want to prove you're sorry? Fix the security problem, make a new mmo, see what the users you're shafting with this want. Don't just say, "whoops, we lied, it's gone 5ever lol".

I haven't 'ignored' or blocked anyone in a long time & when I did it was because they called me a name & ignored me first just because I preferred something that they did not. Yet after a long while, around a year or so later, I un-ignored them. Why? Because I don't like having people put under that list. It's like having a hate list and hate is an ugly emotion, to me at least. So say you & I got into an argument I wouldn't ignore or block you...well maybe if you did me but then I'd think about it and undo it cuz I don't want to sink to that level/etc. I deal with enough drama at work, & online I try to avoid it as much as possible. Yet the older I get the more I just don't give a flying rat's behind.
