"Seriously," C'tis muttered, dropping his tones a little. "Have to wonder if the rest of them are alright given that. These three seem okay though, even if Lady Claws down there sounds weird." Something up with her throat? Well if there was it didn't seem to impede her breathing at all, luckily. With such a tiny clutch they really needed all the tough dragons they could get and... well, they were already one down on that with the unfortunate brown. Whatever was up with it didn't sound like it was just a passing childhood illness.

Amid all the chaos of the quarreling pair, Alcine caught sight of another pair of little wings, fluttering in the background. Brave little girl, she seemed to just stomp right up to her rancorous siblings, as if she could put an end to their squabbles. Alcine smiled at the green's noble efforts, but it waned when she looked back to Yevalee's condition. Seytev was hovering over him, but it didn't look like he was getting up soon, and that was an awful lot of red on his clothing.
She wanted to watch, to keep tabs on the little hatchlings, to maybe even catch one of their opalescent eyes, but a chord deep in her gut told her that she needed to help with her classmate. Ultimately, there were two choices of action she could take, but one of them didn't involve trying to break up a pair of angry dragonets.
Reluctantly at first, she plodded on over to the wounded boy, peering over Seytev's shoulder to see what the damage was. "Need a hand?"

“’ther snd,” Yevalee muttered more into his chest and shifted slowly, getting his feet under him. He scrubbed at his eyes, dislodging sand and ugh, fluids and slowly blinked up at. “Sey,” he finally replied and winced, attempting to stand, giving a hiss as the wounds stretched and wavered slightly, vision spotty.
Okay, standing might not have been a good idea. Breathe, breathing is good. And Alcine?
"Yes."

Vanavia was on the edge of her seat as the two brawled. It was so much worse than the previous fight and she had thought that was bad. There was blood and ichor on the sand now and Vanavia was unable to tear her eyes away. Part of her wished she could cover her eyes like Aeglentine, but she was too involved in the sight of it. The green snapped for the blue's throat and a small gasp escaped the candidate. The third appearing green went unnoticed as Vanavia's gaze was glued to the mass of green and blue.
"I don't know," Vanavia murmured. She may be too drawn in to look away, but she wasn't enjoying it. Not in the slightest. The fight had tumbled into another boy, but at least the first was working on getting up, so hopefully he'd get to a healer soon.

"Okay. Got you. Easy." Seytev kept his hand around Yevalee's shoulders as he tried to stand, but when Alcine came over, he nodded to her. "We gotta get a healer," he said.

"They are," Venk mumbled vaguely as another egg hatched, a blue this time. The wingleaders weren't going to be happy with this showing, not at all, and a large part of the usually amiable man hated them for that. They had no idea what his girl, his brave girl had been through. All they would see was the 'poor' clutch the 'disappointing' clutch, few if any of them would much care what it had cost to produce it.
"Never wanted this you know," he added with another shake of his head. "I always thought I'd fly with Fourth wing, like my father. When I Impressed I always thought I'd be candidatemaster; I'd never have to be Weyrmaster, to have all that attention but... but suddenly we were all there was." Venk smoothed a hand back over his hair, looking every one of his fifty turns and then some as he watched the hatchlings fighting on the Sands. "It's going to have to be you or Jess soon, probably this time next turn. I wouldn't wish that level of scrutiny on either of you but... well, if I don't allow Hiraeth to clutch they won't allow me to remain their figurehead. You know how it goes, Shylla."
On her way over, Ettiquette paused to look thoughtfully at Yevalee and Seytev, and then to bump her head against Seytev in what might have been intended as a gesture of solidarity, tail touching Alcine’s ankle for a moment.
It was hard to tell with non-verbal baby dragons.
Carrying on, she paused to stare at her siblings for a moment, and then launched into a barrage of very loud scolding directed at them - presumably on the mental level as well as the physical, but anyone unable to hear her would be as deaf as a post.
The Commander's head snapped around at the sudden yammering and he let out what might have been an impressive bugle from an adult dragon. As it was it was a bit squeaky but it carried the intended note of warning; move along, nothing to see here!
Ettiquette was not having any of that nonsense. Her scolding (if that were possible) grew louder and more shrill, the butterfly-winged green sitting back on her haunches to deliver what might have been a fine speech. Hear Me Roar took the opportunity to slash The Commander across the chest and wriggle away out of his grip, tumbling across the sands to Alcine. The hatchling snagged at her tunic, pulling her away from Yevalee and Seytev.
Then she turned around and stuck her tongue out at the Commander.

Well... Well... He wasn't sure if he should be glad she'd gone to someone reasonable or if he should be frankly a bit disappointed. Maybe he could just continue to juggle a bit of both. He had been damn fond of her spirit, but apparently his wasn't the one she had set her sights on. Not even after as far as he could tell... Having solar thoughts about some people.
"...congratulations..." He noted, a bit more lackluster than politeness dictated.

"I think that counts as a win!" Jasiline added as the Hear me Roar green slipped away from the Commander, gave him a good one across the chest, and Impressed before he could retaliate. It was half a mark, not much, but it was more the activity of betting and winning that pleased her. Now she almost wished that she'd placed bets on the egg colors.

For all her worry and stress it looked like Alcine had Impressed after all! Deruvene was beyond delighted at witnessing it and he had to.hold back his cheers. There were still two dragonets out on the sands and he was aching from the previous impact. The blue had gotten a nasty gash, he was worried over it, should he move?? What should he do?

The Commander went down with a heavy thump and a strangled growl and moved quickly to heave himself back upright but as soon as it became clear that Roar wasn't going to cause any more trouble he relaxed and flopped down on his side. For some moments he just lay there breathing hard and oozing ichor onto the sand but a loud crack behind him sent the blue springing back to his feet and whirling around to face the new threat.
The new threat was probably the least threatening threat anyone had ever seen; the brightly coloured Listening Egg had split neatly in two, allowing a boldly spotted blue to toddle out, give a 'Blort!' of hello to the world... and promptly fall over. When he managed to get upright again careful observers might note that something about his feet looked just a little bit off; it seemed that there was strangeness abound in this clutch. The Listening blue however did not seem concerned despite the fact that he fell over himself again after a few steps, going muzzle first to the ground. With eyes bright blue he snorted, wiped sand off his nose with his paws and then sat upright blinking, watching and - presumably - listening.
The Commander snorted too and given it didn't seem like anyone was currently trying to cause mayhem he gave his wounds a cursory lick before heading over to Yevalee, favouring his left foreleg slightly but clearly not in danger of death.
Ettiquette settled back down on all fours, the green letting out a bright trill. Well, that was all settled. The dainty green looked around her, picking up on the unhappiness of the candidates, and trotted to Keralder, pushing her nose under his hand. That seemed like an invite to pet her - but who knew with baby dragons?

“However weird she sounds, that looks suspiciously like an Impression” L’ris leaned forward, mouth a hard line as her eyes narrowed in concentration. She felt like she had a certain amount invested in the strength of the Weyr’s greens, and definitely when they were going to women - as a lifetime of campaigning for their rights and promoting their skills would do. “And she looks strong enough, the way she was fighting with that blue”
She leaned back, shaking her head, voice quiet. “I don’t know. That new blue… it isn’t moving right. Do you think?”
—
Aeglentine uncovered her eyes again, if only to reach out to snag Vanavia’s hand and give it a squeeze. “At least… none of them are fitting? Like the brown did?”
At least, that was what she’d heard: she’d not been there to see it, and she hadn’t seen the creature since, but...

"They've stopped fighting. She's impressed," Vanavia sighed out. The blue looked a little worse for wear, but at least it was over. "I think it's safe to look now-" Turned out Aeglentine had already uncovered her eyes and was holding onto Vanavia's hand. Clearly she was very emotionally invested in this. "I'm sure they'll all be fine," she said with a reassuring smile, one that deep down she didn't feel. The state of the blue worried her and had her anxiously running the fingers of her free hand down the back of the blue in her lap. Vanavia couldn't image seeing him in pain and the very idea of how much it must hurt the person that blue was meant for. Would they already be feeling something before impression?
Oh, and he was up again. Maybe he wasn't feeling that bad after all. She followed his gaze to a... interestingly coloured egg. The blue that toddled out of the egg was so cute. She couldn't tell whether it was the walk, the noise of the falling that did it, but he was cute none the less. Well, it was cute the first time, the second was a bit worrying. He didn't seem too coordinated, did he? The two previously hatched dragons both walked towards people, well, looked like that was those two's impressions sorted. They weren't being aggressive like Roar had been, so that must be it.

C'tis frowned deeply and nodded. "I think you're right.... On both counts. Do his feet look a bit weird to you?" Frankly he had no idea if L'ris could see particularly well at that distance these days, she was getting on in turns. Today however, for once, he wasn't here to mock her about that; he just wanted to know if she was seeing what he thought he was seeing. "Bad luck for T'gall," he added with a little shake of his head; somehow he doubted the brown rider would manage a second term as Weyrleader unless he pulled off some especially impressive feats during this next turn.... Would Hiraeth even rise again? If not then when would Venk step down, which of the juniors would he want as his replacement? Surely not that tit Shylla, not after what she'd done.

With a new hatching it made three dragonets on the sand. Two blues, the green. All of them seemed...off? Was there something odd going on in this clutch? Deruvene wasn't going to judge though, they were all really cute, and he finally got to his feet proper. Cuts would heal, they were minor at best, and he was glad for that.
The blue laying down, did he need help? What about the blue from before, was it okay too? He was worried about them in more ways than one though the sight of the green getting petted calmed him a little.

Keralder blinked in surprise as the delicate green nudged his hand, though there was no hint of rainbow in her eyes... And he was reasonably sure he would -know- when a dee agin did. "Er... Sorry... No daisy crown..." Was he thinking of the right egg? She seemed sweet... And he gave her nose a cautious rub, taking mental stock of his fingers on the chance he might be about to bid one or several of them goodbye. He didn't think petting dragons was allowed before they impressed but it was her idea.
"How are you, lovely?" This clutch was full of odd dragons, and he flinched inwardly at Listening. His poor feet... Was he... Club footed? He didn't know the condition enough to hazard more than a guess. It was so nice now before they had any notion of what people might think... Before the world tarnished their glee.
