Much Ado...
Troll: Dictys Glauci
I chose option: 2

"Did you say photoshoot?" Dictys was clearly all ears. And fins. And quickly-pumping pulse.

Yet - well, should they have bothered to ask? Clearly Dictys was the best choice for this, and clearly ey had a vision in mind. "You know, there's been quite the hype about these gerbils - but I promise you it'll generate even more when trolls see gerbils next to their owners. There's something so interesting and relateable about actual trolls, you know?" They were the most interesting and the most successful race in the galaxy for a reason. Besides, as cute as gerbils might be...Dictys' own interest in this event would've been very low if it hadn't been for the promise of glory. For, uh, Laureate, because clearly that was what Dictys cared about.

Anyway, this way they could show off gerbils' physiques - all the better for betting - and their owners, and their styling. The photos would reach a much wider audience, Dictys thought!

Much Ado...
Troll: Lunear
I chose option: #2

Oh no. No no no. This most certainly would not do. A photoshoot with gerbils? Did no one think of just how stressed his poor lovlies could get? Just why they'd wiggle, trying to be free to find him and snuggle back into his coat pockets? Did no one even consider their poor little hearts or just profits?

Rubbing his head, Lunear rolled his eyes, picking up Gabiel and Marian and standing in front of the camera. "Look, you have to make the focus on them. On the brand you know." Marian was placed on his head, Gabiel in his arms. "Plus blood colors a troll's ideas. Helps them pick a real winner you know." Like a fashion forward blue such as himself.
And maybe he wanted to also get a bit of spotlight himself.
Just a bit.
On the side.

Much Ado...
Troll: Didero Salons
I chose option: 2

My volunteering total: 6

Things were finally looking up for Didero and his volunteer work. He was feeling pretty good about himself, so when the NummCorp employees suggested a gerbil photoshoot, Didero was 100% on-board with assisting.

After a good, long while of sifting through the props pile, Didero was still at a complete loss. Despite the majority of the props being miniaturized versions of more realistic counterparts, the assortment was still way too big. Didero could have easily staged an entire gerbil soap opera with all of this junk. (Didero scribbled something in his notes and shoved the booklet back into his pocket.) As for a gerbil related advertisement, Didero was having a hard time coming up with something simultaneously snappy and coherent. Gerbils were cute. That was their deal. They all looked about the same regardless of what you made them sit on.

Didero bopped his open palm with his fist. That was it! Pair the gerbils with the owners! People got invested when there were visible castes involved. Come for the cute gerbs, stay to cheer on your fellow troll! If it involved Didero getting his picture taken... well, it certainly wouldn't harm his chances.

Didero grinned and waded his way out of the mess he'd made of the props--looking a little like Gogzilla in the process.

Troll: Sinter Heilig
Today's training regimen: THE WHEEL OF FIRE

My training total: 35, -10 for buying a corporate sponsorship, leaving Sinter with a total of 25

Sinter whistled along with the rhythm of his bells as he entered the gym that night. He was really starting to see improvement in his gerbils. Hopefully tonight Sinter would continue to see more of the same.

Troll: Sinter Heilig
Today's training regimen: THE WHEEL OF FIRE

My training total: 27 BUST

So far so good! Sinter was perfectly content with a slow start so long as the little guys showed some endurance in the long run.

EDIT: ...Which they totally didn't. Sinter sighed in disappointment. Maybe all that running yesterday had tuckered out their tiny muscles...

The blueblood at the athletics center took one look at the WHEEL OF FIRE and sighed. The poor construction of the NummCorp product had caused its hinges to become unstable during Laureate's prize run. So much for that. He placed a little "OUT OF ORDER!" sign on the creaky wheel and turned to Dictys.

"Hey... Um, so your gerbil probably shouldn't run on the wheel any more if it's gonna run it that hard. But, um..." The blueblood looked down at his clipboard and lifted up the sheet, then began to read the text below. "For your gerbil's athletic excellence, you have earned the honor of appearing on the NummCorp Gerbil Athletics Board. So, come this way, please,"

Snap! A quick polaroid later and Dictys and Laureate's image was tacked to the corkboard at the front of the athletics center, with a post-it labeled "50+!"

You can collect your polaroid-style art from Sypon after the race has concluded!

Troll: Aandes
Today's training regimen: the wheel

My training total: 19 + 1 = 20

Aandes was ready for another day. But the moment he walked in -- there it was -- Dictys. Dictys and Laureate. He could just about throw a hissy fit. Aandes decided to distract himself by watching the whirling machinations of the gerbils, and plucked an unsuspecting critter from its pen.

He wasn't here to play nice today. "Alright, get," he snapped, and subtly gave the wheel a spin to get the gerbil started.

Troll: Aandes
Today's training regimen: the wheel

My training total: 23 + BUST

Aandes was learning so much this time around. He was never good with animals; it seemed like hostility was a good way to get them to do what he wanted. How about that.

But alas -- his luck wouldn't last for long. The creature stopped running, and with a disdainful scoff Aandes picked it up by the scruff of the neck and placed it back in its cage.

Much Ado...
Troll: Milieu Aojiro
I chose option: Spread of Photos.

Heart strings? Bah! Spades strings. Milieu grinned wickedly as she snapped another picture of a darling troll with a cute little gerbil. This was going to ignite the flames of hatred in the hearts of any who dared see it. How did these trolls get chosen to be publicized while they did not? What makes that little gerbil better than my own! Yes, these questions would seal her win for sure.

Troll: Milieu Aojiro
Today's training regimen: The Wheel

Mili petted Apollo and Mercedes before settling them on separate wheels. Grinning, the young troll gave the blue blood a thumbs up to start training.

....

Well apparently neither of them were going to do it. They ran off and started eating carrots. Sighing, Mili collected her pets and left dejected.

Troll: your troll's name
Today's training regimen: the ball

My training total: 51
My current grand total: 51

To the ball this time! Kursha thought it would be best if he continued to switch things up. Different exercises would build different muscles and besides, it was more interesting that way. Scooping up what looked like the same rodent, Kursha brought the beast over to the collection of balls. After unscrewing the cap, he gently lowered it inside.

"Hop to it!" he said, nudging the ball. He had forgotten his policy of not talking to rodents.

The gerbil scurried around in its spherical prison for a good ten minutes before its legs failed. The ball continued to roll, full of momentum, causing the little creature to roll around inside. Kursha managed to stop it with his foot and retrieved the gerbil.

"Good work today," he said, giving the gerbil a pat. Secretly he felt like it could have been better. The gerbil licked his finger, possibly sensing his disappointment.

Much Ado...
Troll: Ephias
I chose option: #3

My volunteering total: 5
My current grand total: 5

Ephias was beginning to feel like he was out of his depth. First distributing flyers, then designing racing equipment, and now a photo shoot? Could they assign him something less... artsy? Ephias stared at the camera like it was rattling slitherbeast. Hesitantly, he reached out for it. Behind him, Wolly let out a rather bored bleat and the redblood jumped.

"D-don't say that," Ephias grumbled. Wolly merely huffed in response. Irritated, Ephias snatched up the camera. He would figure out something. Eventually. Rubbing at his eyes, he turned to where the gerbils were rolling around in a collective pile on the floor. Somehow he had to make these creatures look appealing. Again.

He lay down on the floor in front of them, looking through the viewer. They continued to play, heedless of the troll. Bored, Ephias played with the zoom. For a moment he caught a glimpse of a tiny claw and then an eye came into view. This close up he could see every fine grain in the creature's iris. The face of another gerbil was reflected on its retina. That was interesting.

The gerbil wriggled away but Ephias had his idea. If he played with the lighting, he might be able to make some really dynamic shots. He set the camera exposure to long. He would showcase the details, the overlooked aspects of the creatures. Maybe he could even get some photos of their weird tiny muscles.

Troll: Vitula Picato
I chose option: 2

My volunteering total: 6
My current grand total: 6

Vitula walked back to the event grounds with his head held up relatively high. The shoes he had helped put on the gerbils were a success. The Velcro idea was defiantly a good option, besides the laces. The only thing better then this would have been light up shoes, for an extra touch of flash. It was time for the photo session, and a lot of trolls had a lot of different ideas for how the photo should be taken. Vitula had the idea to take the photo of the competing gerbils with their masters. It would be nice for the owners of the gerbils to get some recognition as well, plus this would help incase any of the competitors tried to make a run for it.

Much Ado...
Troll: Luxara
I chose option: 2

My volunteering total: Zip
My current grand total: Nada

Someone was late to the party, but it was better than not getting there at all! Fortunately she hadn't missed any of the main events, but with her own gerbils sleeping (you can't get anything done if they're not awake y'know), Luxara needed to find SOMETHING to do. You could only sit still for so long.
She had heard whisperings about doing things that earned other things, and after that whole WACKY thing, she would sure like to try being productive and receiving from her hard work!

Although publicity photos, she quickly realized, wasn't quite her forte. Keeping gerbils still, at least the ones who were up and at 'em, was a bit of a chore. It didn't help that Stagdad kept glaring with that look in his eyes. She'd have to feed him before he started eating entrants.
Mayyyybe getting the handlers involved would help. And, besides, they're what MADE the gerbils what they are! Gotta give them some credit, so why not involve them in the photos. Surely no one would mind taking a little of the focus away from the little competitors.
