And then something happened to one of theirs, and all he could do was watch on. "Wh-Why? Oh god." Why wasn't she dissipating? Why was she still bleeding? He should have paid better attention, he should have listened. Even dangling from the ceiling he should have heard voices right? Four? They could only send four? The rest would be left behind? Would they all meet the same fate?

Did he want to leave them behind as they tried to get help?

"Im a quick swimmer and pretty quick in the forest as well, i have also lived in one all my life." Seemed forest life was common. "Even more so if i can take true form, i can carry people on my back if need be." His fox form was around the size of a small horse, so he could carry a few if he could shift forms.

He looked towards the Lesovik next, folding his arms. "If all we have is twenty four hours then i doubt we will have enough time to find supplies or anything sturdy enough to hold us across the water. Because remember, the hours are for both time to get there and time to get back. So thats twelve hours one way, barring no obstacles and whatever is out there. We don't even know if we have the supplies to be able to do such things like build a raft of some sort, looking at that map it appears we are on a small island in the middle of no where. We cant justify having enough time and supplies to get across. We need to see whats available to us first and choose who goes from there. We also need to see how many of us are still hurt from that fall." He pointed up towards the ceiling. He turned towards the fracs next, quirking an eyebrow. "Are we allowed to go outside and survey the land before we choose who goes and the timer starts?" It seemed that Aurel was not the only one with 'leadership skills' when in a bind.

"Also when we leave this place will we be able to use our skills once more?" He noticed his natural form, and fear, was on lockdown. How long would that last?

Aurel looked over to the fox who had been trapped in the room with him - Good. Another leader type. He didn't mind sharing. He knew he wasn't exactly the best and he was still new to just about everything.

"The b*****d said we had twenty four hours from the time the FIRST person escapes. We could potentially build something in here - gather all we can here to get the four out quick as possible and help them out when they are outside. However, I agree if you are able to take your form and can swim quickly, that would be a better idea. But our abilities are on lock down."

He didn't know how anything worked. So he was grasping at straws. He appreciated Remi, and he reached out to pat his foot (since he was standing, and Aurel was sitting) to show it. Personal bubbles were not a thing. Sorry.

Remi was a Bogeyman in training, so he HAD to know when to pipe in at least. No he did not usually like to take charge of anything, he wasn't even sure if he was now. He was only trying to save all their asses. "Our abilities are on lock down in here, we don't know if they will be once we step outside this place." Which was why he had asked the little Fracs if that was the case, it would make life so much easier for them if they could.

"Theres so many factors we dont know, Aurel." He nodded back at the sitting man. "We dont even know if the water is deep, it could just be waist height for all we know. There could be a underwater pathway we could take." Or there could be things ready to eat them.

Maybe the game master had a boat they could borrow. Haha.

"What classifies as 'escaping', by the way." He looked at the Fracs again, another question. Aurel had a good plan but it also was flawed. "Would you mean the second we step out of this room? This House? Or off the Island? Or perhaps once we choose the four the time starts?" Or had the time already started? Tick tock.

He looked towards Amphi again, frowning. "...Guys shes not dissipating."

“Neither was the one upstairs…” Pachua said quietly. “I think it’s the same, but I don’t think it’s going to answer the question no matter who asks.”
“I can swim, and normally I’d say I can fly but… I’m not sure I can right now, not that I’m good at it at the best of times.”
“… I’d like to know if the traps are all, here on this island, or if the person we send first for help, if they will be safe or not too, I’d like to know that not only do we send the best person for it, but that they’ll be able to have a fair chance at it, while the rest of us do the best we can here.”

He stood carefully then and moved to put a hand on Llyr's shoulder. "She needs us to figure this out too Llyr."

A glare was turned towards the boil that announced that he would not do what any ghoul told him to do. Whatever. If he wanted to be some self-sacrificing martyr? She wasn't going to stop him.

But it certainly didn't mean that she would be grateful for that.

"I can swim well." She said. "But I think everyone seems to be forgetting that we should deal with our current problem at hand; finding an exit, instead of arguing over who goes and who stays because oh, they're not important and so they're willing to be a sacrifice for the greater good." Sarcasm dripped off her words; it was clear that Marzena thought the current debate was absolute bullshit.

As the nix took a closer step towards the ghoul, insisting that he would stay with her, she frowned. "Llyrendil." Marzena said firmly, grasping his arm in an attempt to yank him backwards. Like hell she would watch anyone else get impaled. At least she knew Pachua was not going to let Llyrendil do this either. "The only way we can help her is that we get out of this Jack-forsaken place and get help." None of them had any idea why Amphi wasn't dissipating. They needed someone with more experience. One of the professors, maybe. Or even Nurse Cricket.

"If our abilities aren't locked down once we get out, I can make it over the water easily, without ever touching it. I can phase through the trees, too." Gene added, still near Amphi, but her hands no longer reaching out to the ghoul caught in whatever limbo she was in. Instead, her hands were balled into tight fists, knuckles white and shaking.

"Or, I can stay behind and hunt Parker down. He deserves more punishment than the Boogeys would dole out if, by some slim chance, they catch him." The ghoul practically hissed, not meaning any offense to the future boogey man in the room. "But Marzena has a point, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. We need to leave this room before we make any decisions of staying or leaving."

Llyr jerked away, both from Marzena and Pachua. There was a strange, uncharacteristically angry look that flitted across his face, and he rubbed his arm in an almost wary way, fingers smoothing across the scales that were spread over his upper shoulder.

"Don't tell me what to do," he said, sounding wounded, and a little breathless, the words tumbling over one another. "I am not a child who needs protection." His head twisted to look at Amphi again, her prone form trapped within the spikes; and his hair fell in steady waves over his back, Llyr wrapping his arms around his waist and taking a deep, steadying breath.

"I can't leave the room without her, I'm not not going anywhere without her," he said stubbornly.

Pachua started to say something to the boil in return. But he stopped, He'd considered guilt, that HE needed help, that HE needed friends but maybe this was for the best.

He moved close enough, just long enough to give the Boil a brief hug and tug at the long hair.

"Just… be careful alright? I'd rather you not join her."

The Escaped

"If you value your lives, you will not touch the Fracs." It repeated; the happy tone was gone from the voice, leaving it heavy with threat. It stayed quiet for a little longer, as if to let the answer hang in the air, before another question caught its attention.

The ears perked again, and it turned to look towards Gene. "If you don't want to play, let me know! I'll set you free~" The happy chirp was back, but there was nothing comforting about it's words. Then, to Llyr, it continued: "No, I want you to play the game and escape ~ it'd be more fun if you fought, but you don't have to." The Fracs turned to look at the bloody, impaled form of Amphi. "I can promise you, she's not in pain anymore. I bet she doesn't feel at thing!" It let out a sound that was likely a giggle. "But, okay I can let her go." With a sick squelch, the metal spikes tore free of Amphi's form; the ghoul's body fell to the ground, crumpled and bleeding. There was a long series of clicks as the pendulums reset itself, disappearing into the darkness of the second floor.

It was clear, however, that it wasn't about to let the rest of them go so easily.

"Oooh, someone with brains!" The voice cheered, searching the crowd to look at Brenley. "The second map is where you are...and there the nearest pumpkin patch is." While the Fracs seemed keen on answering as many questions as possible, but it didn't seem to acknowledge the selfless acts that were going on. It had no preference over who escaped, so long as they played by the rules.

"Correct, little worm! Her, and the charming young man in the - ah, never mind, it doesn't matter anymore~" It sang in delight. The questions then tapered off into escape plans and who should, who opted to stay, and the Fracs, since it was thoroughly ignoring this conversation, went silent. Its attention span wavered and it looked around, ears twitching, and eventually it bowed its head to paw at the mask it wore.

Remi's question seemed to sharpen its focus, and it looked up from its hooves.

"Finding the exit keys and using them, of course! Those four doors are the only way out of here alive. I don't care what you do after they close." More boring talk about plans and escaping, and the Fracs let out one long sigh. Then, a magic phrase was said: leave the room.

"RIGHT!" It cried suddenly, sitting up straight as if shocked. "You guys are boring. You go decide who lives and who dies, but do it elsewhere~" There was a loud metallic click. "You need keys to get out anyway." It waved a hoof towards the only exit to the room - the door that lead from B3 into the hallway, with [ NOPE ] still written on it in thick, now dusty red paint.

"The stairs are unlocked and some of the rooms have become unblocked, but whatever was locked needs a key. There's no time limit, you can stay here forever if you'd like~ Have fun, happy Hunting!" The creature then turned its back on the group, wiggling a little bit before jumping upwards, hooves catching on the ledge to the second floor. After a little scramble it made it up, and vanished from sight.

The OOC

Welcome to Open Investigation time! The door to B3 is unlocked and stairs are now open, meaning you can go between the floors as you wish! The starting rooms on the main and second floor are now inaccessible due to the cave-in.

The same rules apply: to go into a room that hasn't been unlocked or open, you must try to open it from the hallway. If a room HAS been opened, it will remain unlocked (unless otherwise stated via prompts or OOC notes) - check the second post of the thread or ask me (aim: sanguincarn) if you're unsure!

"I am afraid I do not know what you mean by dissipating." He said with a frown. Again. Forest. No interaction. He was much better than he was two years ago at least, but this was nothing he knew about.

When Llyr decided that he was going to be stubborn about the dead Ghoul, Aurel frowned sharply. He wasn't getting it. "Llyrendil. She is dead. She is not coming back. Sitting here, she does not know you are here. You will die with her if you stay here." Someone had to be blunt, and he wasn't above doing it.

When the Fracs continued on and on, he didn't find much to be of value. Time didn't start until someone got outside. That's all he needed to know. They needed a contingency plan before anyone stepped a single foot outside the building.

With a wince, Aurel pushed himself into a standing position and picked his map up with him, slipping his other hand into the pocket that held the dull steak knife. "We need to compile what keys we have and what objects we have found. After that...Since there is a machine on the second floor that says freedom, I think we should start there. Does anyone have any argument to that?"

Pachua's hug, while meant with good intentions, was not returned, though Llyr didn't push him away. He let himself enjoy the warmth of someone else for a brief moment before offering the boil a vague smile, his eyes still fixed on Amphi's prone body almost as though he were transfixed by it.

He turned his head very slowly to look at Aurel, and there was a strangely vacant look in his gaze as he said, "I don't care. I don't leave people behind. Not like..."

But he trailed off, his expression growing sad, and pressed his lips together, Llyr turning away. He would let the others figure out what they wanted to do, but for now he wasn't going anywhere, instead staying resolutely standing in the place where he was.

"Dissipating is..." He thought up what might be something he read in a text book. " basically where if you take enough damage your body breaks down to its base components,"aka fear. " and you and brought back together as a whole in a designated location. " sounded almost textbook to him. yes it sounded odd but remi had experienced the sensation a little too often so he explained it as it was explained to him.

Looking around remi made a clicking noise with his tongue as the door opened. " wouldn't it be more productive if we start learning what we can in the basement, then once we think we have it all move up a floor together?" He looked around the room, shrugging. " just my two cents. I personally dislike the idea of splitting up on separate floors and i think starting down and moving our way up would benefit us the most."

"Fine." Marzena said dismissively, an eyebrow raised at Llyrendil's statement. "Do what you want." It wasn't as though she thought of him a child, though she had been perplexed with him at their very first meeting. All she had wanted was to not to witness any more deaths, and her body jerked forward slightly when Amphi was released.

But mourning would do them no good.

Her gaze flitted towards the now open door and moved towards it. Marzena had never been one to work in a team, in fact she quite preferred working only with herself. But the stakes were higher than before and she was not stupid enough to think she could do this all alone.

"How about we go explore however we like and then report back here..." She paused as blue eyes swept over the still figure on the ground. "Or somewhere else. Then we can compare our notes and findings."

“…How about we just mix the ideas, we try and keep to one floor, breaking up as we like, search every room carefully to try and find all the keys, we can split groups off to examine the key rooms, as long as there is more than one person in a key group they can report back any important findings.

I doubt that the fact the wall said ‘freedom’ will do us any good unless we can find that missing piece, but we don’t even know if the piece will be on the same floor.”

He turned back to the fallen Ghoul and took a breath.

“Llyr, I want to do something though, will you help? I know this sounds awful but, maybe we should move the…” He hesitated a moment before he continued with a carefully chosen word.

“The fallen all into one room. That way if the rescuers come, they can … they can reclaim them. Maybe we can figure out why they aren’t dissipating and if there is ANY way to help them, then we’ll be able to get as many away from here as quickly as we can.

“A… Aurel, I’d like to take her back to the second floor, would you mind if I borrowed that map? I’ll use…” He held up the coffee pot he’d been totting about like a precious thing.

“I’ll use coffee sludge to mark the door just so, in case anyone else needs to, needs to drop someone else off, you know the room. Llyr can… llyr can stand guard there if he likes.”

They were making plans again, as far as he could tell. The smarter ones, anyway. Not wanting to disturb anyone, he simply listened- looking between the one boil he knew and the others. The skin girl seemed to have calmed down, at least. They would all get things planned, and the fast ones could get out of here and get them home.

"Well, um. Before some of us get out of here, I have a key, yes? I can take us to another part of this basement!" Ulka called, toddling over to the door again. The Fracs had said it was unlocked, so while some of them went to dispose of the dead...

The dead. That was a scary thought. In wonderland they had at least popped back, but that didn't seem to be the case here. That ghoul just laid on the floor... Lifeless. It was like she was a broken toy, but so much worse. Stuffing, he could handle. You could sew a ripped doll right back up again. Not her, though.

Turning away sadly, Ulka slipped out the door. Dawdling and being sad wasn't going to get any of them out of here any sooner. So instead of waiting, Ulka toddled over to B1 and tried to unlock the door with his key.. This, at least, seemed useful.
