Ritsa continued to watch with keen interest. She knew from the way she had interacted with the egg during hatching that this little one was not for her either. Part of her wondered who would end up impressing to the tiny blue. She glanced up and down the candidates but no one seemed to have the look of impression yet. Sighing Ritsa shifted once again in the sands, her eyes looking over the eggs that had yet to show signs of hatching.

Kaimi

Oh, it was a blue! She wiggled a bit, trying to get a better view of the small dragon. Blue was her favorite color, and this was a particularly beautiful specimen. He seemed aloof, though. Arrogant. Well, she couldn't be surprised by that - the egg had been distinctly unpleasant to most of the candidates during the touching. Kaimi's gaze wandered over to the two greens, the bronze, and then back to the silver blue. Who would impress next?

Balchas watched as the Blue eyed them over the top of the mound of sand, then flapped to hop up onto the main Sands. Well wasn't he a regal little thing, despite being so tiny. He wondered if small now would make him small as he grew, he knew the canines were odd and that sometimes the smallest pup turn out to grow the biggest and best of the bunch.

He waited as the blue stretched himself proudly, it looked at the boys first, then the girls. Seemed that he was considering his options and why not, there were plenty of candidates to choose from, he wondered if the tiny blue was destined for his little sister.

Boys? Girls? After a pause, the tiny blue turned toward the girl’s side. He walked among the crowd. His posture saying he expected those in his way to get out of it. Silver blue hissed at a girl that got too close to his side. She wasn’t worthy! He turned his head to look up at another girl’s face. No this wasn’t His either! Silver blue hissed angrily and swiped at the girl with his talons. How dare her for standing there!

Mairin had taken to digging in the sand with the edge of her sandals and letting rainwater fill the letters. This hatching now seemed more passive than the last time. It was probably for the best for most involved but for her it currently lacked that vital spark that made life so wonderful. Dark eyes watched the hatchlings currently on the sands and silently willed one of them to do something of particular interest.

Oh! It seemed the recently hatched itty bitty blue felt like testing the female candidates. Or, Mairin supposed, he could just dislike girls and would soon skip away to the boys side. Either way his actions were enough to get her focus and she was swift to shift about on her feet and stare firmly at him. Mairin wasn't challenging him per say but she wouldn't be intimidated either. He would have to make an effort to get his claws or teeth on her and she have fun trying to dodge if he did. Excitement surged in the young woman again. As long as nothing turned truly violent this could potentially be fun.

Balchas stared as the blue went to the girls, if that blasted thing hurt his sister he would make sure the dragon couldn't do it again, rules be damned he wasn't going to let his sister get hurt by some snippy little blue that had a complex.

He watched carefully, making sure his sister wasn't in the line of fire with this Blue's temper.

With that unworthy candidate out of his way he shoved another aside with his head. He walked past in a huff. Coming up to Mairin he hissed. Thought she was so good didn’t she? Well she wasn’t! He snapped at her just to see her dodge as he walked past. She wasn’t worth any more effort from him.

There wasn’t anything of interest here. Decisively the blue turned to walk past the unhatched eggs. He ignored the eggs as he came around to the boy’s side. Perhaps his was here. He certainly hadn’t found what he was looking for on the girl’s side. The blue stopped to observe the boys. His head turned to the side.

Phew, it didn't seem like his sister was going to get hurt, but having examined the girls he turned towards the boys, Balchas wasn't going to let this blue get the better of him. He was nervous, not wanting to upset the blue anymore than he was but also not willing to let the little creature get the upper hand, he seemed to want to dominated and Balchas wasn't going to be dominated. He just hoped the dragon found His before someone stupid got really hurt.

If Mairin had been younger or more childish she might have had something to say about the blue's failed attempt to bite her. Instead she just sort of half hopped half slid out of the way and watched the young male then proceed over to where the boys were. Well she had sort of called that happening.

Jemi snorted, watching the blue hatching. Geeze, aren't you a grumpy thing. She walked over to Mairin, looking at the girl carefully. "You alright? Grumpy guts there seems to be all snarl and no bite at the moment." She kept her voice low, pleased that Mairin seemed okay. "Might want to stop playing in the wet sand... they are all sorts of cranky today."

With the bronze lazily sliding out of her egg that made all the colours other than blues present. That surprised Rocellia a little bit, there had been three greens, a gold, a bronze and a brown so far and yet she'd been told that blues were the second most common. The greens being most common she could well believe with the number that had already showed up, but she was surprised by the lack of blues. The brown impressed quickly, though the playful green seemed less interested. She'd practically gone of the radar by this point and the bronze didn't seem too interested, although his bright hello was most welcome. Rocellia might not be able to impress a bronze, but that didn't make them any less charming a colour. If bronzes did impress to girls then she'd be just as eager for them as any other colour. Any dragon would be welcomed by Rocellia.

Ah, there was a blue! Though he didn't seem to be the most welcoming. The blue did however seem to be trying to find his and that was definitely a good thing, so hopefully his miserable self would be off the sands soon, since he didn't seem too happy to be there in the first place. That was all the colours represented though and she was sure there would be plenty more blues along the way.

Hyweth had had enough. She was wet. She was cold. She was muddy. And hers seemed to tremble every time a lightning strike lit up the sky. She looked over the stands and up to the perches where dragons sat watching. She looked for a golden hide--one in particular. Mother, mother! she called, looking to Calith. Mother, come here! Look at them, mother! Look at them!

While Hyweth was busy, the little Frosted green had gone over to the Blazing egg. So this was the one everyone claimed she had a connection to. She snorted, with a playbow before darting off. Ha! Eggs couldn't play tag!

It must have been a bad day for the blue. Either the rain had made him grumpy or all that work getting out of his egg. His red eyes flashed as he stomped his way through the males. Who did they think they were?! Something about Balchas rubbed him the wrong way. Silver blue turned and gave a nasty snap with his sharp fangs at the boy’s arm. Unworthy! He thought he could protect others when he couldn’t even save himself. The blue growled.

Leaving the unfortunate candidate he resumed walking. He displayed his anger by lashing his tail viciously side to side. Anyone not quick enough to jump out of the range would quickly find himself sporting bruised shins for their lack-wittedness.

Mairin nodded and smiled at the unexpected question and show of concern from, what was her name again, Jemi. "He'd have to have actually tried to get me and wet sand is easier for me to move on then them." Mairin was fast and steady on her feet to begin with but on a normal day a determined dragonet could easily have run her down if it really wanted to. With the unending rain though the terrain favored Mairin and any other candidate who knew how to maneuver on sand such as this, shedding their sandals if need be for better grip.

"I'm not going to taunt them but I'm not going to just be a statue either," she murmured. Mairin was fine with a little risk, she had always favoured a work hard and play hard approach to life. She wouldn't do anything that broke the rules and wouldn't purposefully distract a searching dragon but she was always up for a little challenge if they offered it first.

Balchas refused to be cowed and received a nasty bite to his arm for his trouble, yet he refused to back off, if the blue wanted a fight, fine, better him than some of the less resilient candidates, it wasn't like he was a stranger to pain. He pulled his injured arm to him, it was bleeding badly but nothing that would force him away from the ring of candidates right now, the sleeve of his candidate robe was being slowly stained red. It was a good job the blue had been small and was just snapping instead of really savaging him.

He watched as the blue moved on and Balchas was glad the shaffing stupid creature wasn't for him, injured ot not though he wasn't going to stand aside if the blue decided to go after the girls again.
