[[Ren > Luka // Cesc and Meli kinda // Tati in the area]]

Like a flower turning and opening to the sun, Ren raised her face to Luka, her chin resting just shy of his collarbone as he settled a light kiss upon her forehead. With eyes half-lidded and her wings giving a little hum of content, it was obvious that the aurora was doing quite well, but she offered him a verbal answer all the same.

"Very well, and yourself? Did you get home alright the other night?" Revontulet inquired in reference to their short meeting in the park recently.

When Luka introduced himself to Meli and inquired to who she was, Ren's brows furrowed in confusion. The muse greeted the satyr with such warmth and welcome, like an old friend. How could he not remember her?

((Food Tables - Luka, Cesc))

Pasha's smile faded a bit at Luka's question, but she didn't take it personally. "I'm…Melisande. Perhaps…we weren't formally introduced." They had been, but she tried to provide the Frei a graceful out. Raife and Aki had been such close friends…even if they'd only met a few times, did he truly not remember her? Pasha shook her head with a smile, making it clear that it didn't matter if he couldn't recall, and drifted back to give the group space. It was obvious Luka remembered Ren, at least.

Feeling a little out of place, the Muse raised a hand in silent parting before she turned with Cesc. She was more than grateful for the opportunity. Melisande leaned forward to peer with him into the basket, they shared a smile over the fruit. What a kind gesture! The bead was more puzzling.

"A keepsake?" She ventured, until Cesc put it to his eye.

Almost instantly, his posture changed. It was like seeing the dawn herself, watching him draw breath and illuminate as he took in whatever vision he saw. When he removed it, a speck of light held in his gaze, and her smile dazzled back at him.

She loved seeing him like this. Pasha's tension began to melt away as well, whether from the sight or from his Aura, she didn't care. The Sigel reached out and rubbed the edge of one of his ears between thumb and forefinger, still grinning.

"You look happy." They both did.

"No, I would've remembered you if you were. I don't forget faces very easily, especially other Raevans. A pleasure to meet you Melisande." He watched as the muse gave a small shake of the head before excusing herself to turn her attention to Cesc.

Shrugging, Luka turned his attention back to Ren. It was weird to him that she would seem so sad when they were strangers. She was probably mistaking him for someone else, even if the bit with knowing his name struck him as odd. Beaming as Ren returned the peck on his own forehead, he smiled. "I'm doing great today. And yes, I did get home fine. Elai was sad that you didn't stop to see him. He's still looking for an opportunity to meet you."

Running his fingers through the Aurora's hair, his head cocked ever so gently. "So, have you met many people so far at this party?"

(( Ronan > Anita; Kris > eating ))

"Got it!" Ronan said with a grin, giving a small salute before picking the bucket back up and heading over to the buffet table, Kris already over there and setting up her biscuits and spreads, the jars showing many jewel colors inside. It took about half a second of watching for Ronan to realize he'd asked the wrong question and only his full hands kept him from facepalming.

"I need to go back to ask about the kitchen, you okay being on your own for awhile?"

Kris had to stop and swallow a biscuit she'd just sampled. "I've been surviving on college food, what do you think? Just let me know when I can add that stuff to my plate." she said, giving a nod to the bucket and the paper wrapped bundle.

"Deal," Ronan said, shifting his grip and heading back over to Anita. She had told him to come back after all. Making sure he didn't run into anyone nearby the selkie set down the bucket and gave Anita a light tap on the shoulder. "Sorry for not asking earlier, but do you know where I should take these?" He removed the lid from the bucket, revealing a large pile of live crabs climbing over each other. "I also have fish to prep if that's okay."

Biscuit now finished Kris began to sample a little bit from each item that was out so far, sure to not take too much so she'd still have room for the seafood but still more than ready to get started.

((Justin -> food tables // aaron))

Satisfied for now, Justin shoved the pamphlet into his back pocket and went searching for more food. Crawfish, kebabs, deviled eggs. Unable to choose, Justin simply piled as much as his plate would fit. He looked curiously at the raevan baskets. They all ate such varied things. How inconvenient would it be to have a raevan who only consumed gold.. or diamonds. He chuckled and snagged a beer out of the cooler.

Finally he sat down in front of another man, one of the few so smart as to start digging in immediately. A bit away from the crowd was really the best place for Justin too, and he plunked down his plate, sending one corncob sliding precariously into the other man's food.

"Ah, s**t! I'm sorry. I guess it likes your side of the table better." He popped open his beer. "I'm Justin. Justin Lindsey. You come with a raevan?" Social effort.

(( Duncan -> Cafeteria, Cruz; Mordekai -> Kitchen, then food tables; Camille, Henry, then everyone ))

"Don't I just," Mordekai offered as he went to the kitchen briefly to get a bottle for himself. He rest the IPA on the counter after taking a sip and offered a bemused grin.

"Ye'know th'pilot ain't gonna listen to no lessons from some burn-out like me, ah, but if y'all need some heavy liftin' done 'round the house some, I'm your guy... Alright, I'mma get that beer wit' you, jes' gimme a minute, gotta get somethin' so I can pour out 'em crawfish."

Mordekai rustled through a few of the cabinets before he actually managed to find a full pair of kitchen mittens, then laughed sheepishly over at Camille. "Se pa anyen! Was gonna handle it all myself but 'em minions y'talkin' 'bout jumped in an' made it a right proper big event, t'konné, insteada jes' a po' boil fo' four," he nodded his head toward Camille and walked out past the kitchen, "A monchè, ain't gonna keep th'crowd waitin'. Y'gonna teach 'em plain folk how t'eat a crawfish proper wit' me?"

Meanwhile, Duncan smiled at Cruz and nodded, then glanced back at Camille and Mordekai. "I understand," he said, turning back to the Frei, then shook his head. "I'm just going to call Leigh to see where she's at, and maybe call Rebecca to see if she was still interested in going. If you get too hot, Cruz, be sure to get some ice water and tell me if there's anything you need-- but Mordekai looks like he's ready to dump the crawfish out, if you'd like to go with him."

Mordekai perked at the mention of his name, and grinned and waved towards Cruz, mittened and all, "C'mon, Cruz! We haven't been outside all day!"

Once Mordekai managed to make strides toward exiting the kitchen, though, one Henry Knight showed up near the kitchen-- he startled a bit at the new voice, but offered the man a smile nonetheless. "Ah-- put it over on th'middle table, we got plenty of space," he glanced back at Camille and shrugged, "Ain't gonna sweat 'em crawfish portions 'cause ain't no one but a Cajun put in all'a there alloted mudpups, ye'know, but I'll remind 'em kids t'share, yeah?"

Once Mordekai managed to walk outside to where Troxel and Shephard had deposited the vats, he took in the scent of the crawfish and surrounding food with relief. Neither of the vats were lidded, but the crawfish were still sitting in their respective buckets. Mordekai lifted them and plopped the two vats back onto the ground, then wrung his hands around the bucket handles inside and carefully lifted them out. Savory crawfish juice from the boil sunk back into their vats, and Mordekai threw the crawfish onto the newspaper-lined table.

Once the crawfish were on display for all to see, Mordekai turned back toward the general crowd and shouted:

"Y'ALL! CRAWFISH IS READY, COME GET 'EM! For our Raevan folk, them baskets on the end tables are for you, and thanks to everyone that brought stuff for the pot luck! If anyone don't know how to eat a crawfish proper, I'll give you a l'il demo," he looked back at Cam and pat him lightly on the back, "Or Cajun number one can teach you how! That clear?"

[[Ren > Luka]]

"Did Elai not come to the party? I hope he does not feel I am avoiding him!" There was true concern in her eyes, for the aurora had only heard the best of things of the satyr's guardian and she could not have handled the idea of the man thinking poorly of her actions.

Revontulet stiffened slightly as Luka brushed his fingers through her hair, dark and rather lack luster even with the late afternoon light. "Only a few, and it seems you have just met them all as well," she replied, motioning towards Pasha and Cesc before nodding her head towards Tatiana, "Ah, and Tatiana, of course." Hopefully the Hamsa wouldn't consider that really an introduction of sorts...

"Oh! Are you hungry, Luka?" Ren's fingers sought out the other frei's as she pulled him closer to the table of raevan foods. "Look, ours are next to each other's..." the frei mused as she pulled out one of the bottles of water. Uncorking it and slipping a finger into the cool liquid, Ren smiled at the sensation. Although she rarely fed on water alone, this water tasted different and fresh, almost tingling under her skin and into her rune.

[[ Luka >> Food Table | Tag; Ren ]]

"He had some work to finish up. Apparently they're getting ready to move to a larger building, so he's been busy helping them get all the files altogether so that nothing gets lost during the move." At the suggestion that the acupuncturist might think Ren was avoiding him, Luka chuckled. "Elai would never think that. He just thinks that he has poor timing when it comes to meeting you. Don't fret."

As she motioned to Pasha and Cesc, Luka nodded. But, the other, Tatiana was new. "Tatiana? I'll have to meet her later then," For now, he was more than content keeping the Aurora company.

The Satyr's eyes smoldered a deep umber as Ren asked whether he was hungyr. It had been a small thought just scrapping away at the back of his brain but now that she had brought it up, he found himself being quite hungry. "Well, it is pretty hard to separate us." he said with a chuckle as he reached into his own labeled basket to pull up a handful of marbles.

They glowed brightly under the light of the sun refracting it's light in many directions. Luka's eyes glowed, becoming beacons of pure light as he fed on the refracted rays. His own rune shone vibrantly; his skin warming in color to before. Although it wasn't the sun's direct light, he could still taste bursts of the star light in his mouth. Almost like biting into a ripe orange, the light's flavor burst through his mouth. "Is your meal enjoyable?" He asked, shutting his eyes as not to blind the Aurora like a deer in headlights.

(( Anita: Food Tables – Tatiana → Ronan ))

The tap on the shoulder made Anita swivel her head. Once her handshake with the frei ended, Anita stepped back just slightly from Tatiana so she wasn't blocking the raevan's view, nor Ronan's in case they wanted to get acquainted too. She was sure to flash the hamsa a quick smile in apology for the interruption, alongside Ronan's despite it not quite being for the same thing.

”Don't worry about it, it's gonna happen a lot. I'm helping with the crap here today so I'm gettin' tugged all around,” she laughed, waving the pamphlets as if shrugging. Only then did she look down at what was in the man's bucket and Anita's arms immediately pressed in against her ribs, eyes widening and face blanking. ”No way,” she mumbled flatly, then looked back up at him. It was difficult to tell just from her expression alone whether she was excited or affronted live crabs were present. Like this, she turned back to Tati and gave the frei a quick nod. ”Lemme know if you need help with anything, I gotta go help him with these. It was really nice meeting you!”

Anita nearly stumbled when she turned to start leading Ronan. She paused mid step, turned back around, grabbed two slices of corn bread, looked Ronan in the eye again, and waved him to follow.

(( Cruz: Kitchen/Cafeteria – Duncan, Mordekai → Outside ))

Duncan's reminder about water caused the croc to grin. Anita'd brought the spray bottle in case he wanted to get spritzed, but she'd left it in the car. It was good to know water would be easily accessible anyway, though he actually preferred room temperature.

”Thank you,” he rumbled, rolling up the sleeves of his green hoodie a bit more, ”I'll get some soon.”

The sound of his name called so enthusiastically caused Cruz to float higher. He grinned brightly and floated Mordekai's way. Though he wasn't sure how much he would really be able to help, it would be nice to go outside and Mordekai was pleasant company anyway. Despite not being able to eat the crawfish, the smell was absolutely mouth watering as piles of them were poured out onto the readied newspaper. His booming announcement was received with a smile, as well, which was turned toward Anita and Ronan as they crossed the way toward them.

(( Anita: Outside – Ronan, Cruz, Mordekai ))

During their trip, Anita managed a quick bite of the cornbread she'd snagged. Her shoulders went limp as soon as she got a good taste and her eyes closed while she walked, not missing a step. ”Thought I was gonna throw up if I didn't eat something--” she mumbled to herself. The bite was finished and swallowed as she approached Mordekai at the table, Cruz floating nearby. Immediately she went back to her wide-eyed seemingly tense stare and pointed at the bucket in Ronan's hands.

He brought crabs, do we have enough newspaper, are there enough pots, they need to get steamed, can we cook them, we have to--” The words dropped quickly from her mouth, excitement clear in her voice. She wanted those crabs.

[[Ren > Luka @ Food Table]]

Although the frei didn't quite understand the talk of files and larger buildings, not wholly in the know about what exactly Luka's guardian did, she managed to latch on to the last words with a reply. "I fear I shall fret until we can actually meet!" Revontulet said with mock dramatics, touching the back of her hand to her forehead and fluttering her lashes.

"Yes. She seems very nice, but I have only spoken with her a short time." The interaction with Pasha and Cesc had somewhat derailed the conversation she'd been enjoying with the Hamsa, and now she herself was pulled away in distraction with the satyr.

At Luka's comment about it being difficult to separate the two of them she let out a soft laugh and reached out with her ribbon to twine it about his, the white and turquoise melding nicely together in her opinion.

His question brought her pause however, and she looked at the bottle resting within her pale hands. It was not that it was not enjoyable, only that it was simple. Like eating a roasted chicken with only a bit of salt and pepper rather than giving it a marinade and some sides. "The water is very fresh, not the usual salt water," Ren said diplomatically, hesitating before deciding not to say anything further.

((Tatiana -> Anita, Revon, Luka || Trox -> Shepard [ROLL TROX FOR FOOD] || Cam -> Mordekai EVERYONE [ROLL FOR FOOD] ))

"Everyone calls him Trox..." Tatiana said with a small bit of wonder. She smiled nervously- realizing she had made her mental note rather vocal. She flushed and looked back over to Revontulent, then to Harrison and then back to Anita before nodding fervently, "Yes, though. Harrison Troxel is my guardian. Almost been with him a month."

She swayed slightly in her place, having lost the grounding source of Revontulet's close quarters and smiled sheepishly. A bit lost. Suddenly the group behind her had dispersed. Maybe it happened for a reason. After all, she did want to meet as many people as she could. Then there was the general curiosity of the Lab. The urge to explore pulled at her rune. She smiled a bit and regarded Anita's braids approvingly. She'd have to learn herself soon- what with all the hair on her head. Then Anita was getting tugged away, her eyes widened and she waved emphatically.

"Go then, go go!" She 'shooed' Anita away despite her back being turned and was in the process of spinning back around to Revontulet when she heard her name twice. Her eyes widened and she lifted an arm much like Revontulet had done earlier, only about shoulder level though. She was already making mixed impressions.

"I'm Tatiana?"

--

Trox watched Shep appraisingly, nodding his head in agreement. His fingers were busy picking away at his plate, eyes casting over the area once as he was to do- security, safety- these things always needed a check up. Especially when alcohol gets involved and more people began to crowd in.

"Jus' shy of a million, yeah," He barked out shaking his head, "Hartnell, Read and Simmonds too, man. Get the Schenns on there an' well they've only really been gaming since the entire team went on it. Hard t'fight a unified front."

Trox rubbed his lower back- the strains of Thursday night hockey pulling at his muscles just thinking about it.

"I play wing. Forward is kinda where I feel comfortable. We've got a large league, actually. All the plus 40 somethings tryin' to relive their college days. A lot of fellow vets there. Actually deployed with one of 'em. We split into two teams more often than not. A takes the earlier slot, B takes the secondary. There's no clean ice for B though... It sucks." He paused to take a pull of his brew and hunched back forward, grinning at Shep, "It's too advanced for me. Gotta sign up online and it's first come first serve. But it's good exercise."

--

Camille had hopped off the counter and shook his head at the offer of help. Troxel was a fairly large man, but he wasn't the most sympathetic to Camille's disability. Now that he's been weaning from the alcohol, the pilot was a bit more helpful but not by much. He shrugged,

"Yenno, y'th'firs' person in' dis bondye modi vil t'offuh a genuine line of help," Camille made a gesture of tucking something in his back pocket, "definitely will keep y'on th'reserve~ Gonna have t'snag y'numbah though. Only see y'at these functions."

He followed Mordekai, slight limp and hollow thud as he trudged on his prosthetic, eyeing the vats with mouth watering. He sipped his IPA as he followed.

"Pa enkyete, h'kin mos' definitely show deez non believuhs th'sacntity of eatin' good all crawfish." He bounced slightly at the pat and set his beer down by the vat before releasing a very southern, very fitting cajun cry of 'Eeerrrrrrh-yee~!' and whistling in excitement. These events were supposed to be loud.

There was the concerning factor that he was- 5'2". He climbed upon the table and shouted to the small crowd.

"How y'all doin'. M'name is Cah-mee Moore~ I's from Jus' south of Baton Rouge of Loosiana. An' t'day!" He reached down and grabbed an appealing crawdad, " Y'eatin' this re' lil' suckuh. We start th'head. Pinch th'tail offu th'head~ Ain'much innere but th'brains~ Dig y'thumb, scrape up, looks like mustahd. Bes' par' Den y'gotta ge' a lil' frisky an' suck th'head~" He said suggestively with a wink.

Camille continued with unwrapping the tail, biting the flesh and outright demolishing the crustacean. The amount of sauce that ended up on his chin and cheeks far outweighed the amount he consumed-- a problem he addressed.

"Dis alrigh'~ It's m' Adonis gleam. Y'll ge' more of the juices on y'than in y' but! That's why there are so many crawfish~ Tuck in!"

[[ Domo & Lala -- Crafts Area | Lulu ]]

Domo watched as the sigel picked up some of the scraps of flowers that he had tried to make, others were the product of Lala's creativity. "Domo make a few, not like how they look." He offered folding his arms over his chest. He absently tugged at his scarf looking at the remaining liter of paper. "Lala better at making paper flowers." He mutter, jutting his chin to the colorful girl. Just as he mentioned her name, the teen came over peeking over Domo's shoulder.

"Oh wow, you're beautiful!" She exclaimed just as a flash went off. Looking at her captured picture from her phone she showed Lulu the result. "See? Beautiful!" Looking a bit sheepish she stepped from behind Domevlo bowing lightly. "I can delete it if don't like that sort of thing. The name is LaMarie Laruen, Lala for short! Nice to meet you!" Holding out her hand she presented a paper flower she had made as an apology and greeting all in one.

[[ Thanatos -- Bonfire | Melanie ]]

Perking up at her suggetions he nodded in kind, "Yes all very good ideas. Only Domo's attention span has a lot to be desired. Lala is easily distracted by her own devices but I'm sure I can look into the fair option." Which sound promising. Taking a moment to admire his kids (so to speak), he noted the exact moment Domevlo had no more patience with his project. Even with Lala trying to help he didn't want none of it. Chuckling lightly to himself he was about to jump to his feet when the frei bumped into an older Raevan but it seemed the situation was avoided quickly. Thank goodness. With a sigh of relief he quickly turned his attention to Melanie giving her a soft smile. "Kids?" It was always a somber topic for him. "While I do love those two to death I'd like some offspring of my own some day." He just couldn't help thinking perhaps he was just too old. Didn't help that dating was always an awkward subject for him. "What about you miss Melanie? Do you have plans for a family?" It only seemed fair she asked first.

(( Claire → Raevan food tables + Ren ; Aaron → Human food tables + Justin ))

"A pleasure," Claire answered, patting their joined hands with her free one amiably. His mention of Tatiana as a companion immediately made her think of a guest but - no, it was one of the Raevans, she was willing to bet. As she opened her mouth to ask which one was Tatiana, Trox's attention had turned towards what seemed to be a new friend arriving. Claire smiled wanly and, after a beat, turned towards the plates and began picking at some of the food nearby, although she found she was not very hungry. Her nerves had been frayed during most social interactions lately, and it seemed kind of heightened here.

Regardless, she pushed her feelings aside and made towards the drinks, thinking a glass of wine she brought would steady her nerves (only half a glass, though, as she was driving). She was lost in her own thoughts as she picked at a piece of beer bread and a kabob and wandered, and in squeezing between a group clustered around the other food table and the table itself, she felt the cold brush of a water bottle on her exposed arm.

"I'm sorry, excuse me --" she began to say, and her eyes drifted up towards the person in question and found she was speaking with a Raevan. A very arrestingly beautiful Raevan at that. "Oh my, you're very lovely." The words spilled out before she could stop them, causing her to blush.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aaron was enjoying some of the bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers when he was made aware of another presence. He lifted a free hand and waved dismissively, smiling through his mouthful of food.

"Naw swea'," he replied, and when introductions were made, he hurriedly chewed what was in his mouth and swallowed. Wiping his hand on a napkin he extended it out to his table mate. "Aaron Holmes. No, we don't have one of the Raevans." It still felt weird reminding himself of these interesting new creatures, and as if bid by the thought, he glanced over at the group of them congregated near their own food tables. "My wife's the one who introduced me to this place. We're looking into the project." He nodded over at Claire's back as she was plucking up her own plate. Now that the subject had been raised, he tossed the question back at Justin, tossing another jalapeno popper in his mouth. "An' yoo? Yoo haff a Raefan?" He swallowed again. "By the way dude, these jalapenos are amazing. You should try some." The call for crawfish at the next table was really tempting too but for now, there was still a whole plate to go through.

((Justin -> tables // aaron))

Justin accepted the other man's hand and shook it firmly before leaning back in his chair. Aaron had probably five years on him, already settled, wife and all. It must be nice, Justin thought idly. "Me? Have a raevan?" he laughed into his beer, sending a small spray of bubbles up his nose. Justin coughed violently.

"Nah, I just fix the computers from time to time." He fished around in his pocket for a second, withdrawing a business card. Although slightly crumpled, the writing on it was crisp and neat. "I'd be terrible at taking care of a raevan, I'm sure. I've got one of those things buried in this plate somewhere. Ohh, they've sounded the Crawfish Call." He paused and rearranged a few things on his plate.

"How;'d you hear about the Lab?"

((Cesc--> his basket at the food table; Shep --> stuffing his face at the other end... food roll here.. Cesc fullness: 18/50, Shep: 17/70))

Cesc couldn't help but let out a laugh, his face looked easy and pleased and slightly surprised. His eyebrows were lifted and his lips parted in a smile, and there was a bright flush on his cheek. He peeked inside the bead once more, as though checking to make sure he hadn't made a mistake, and then pulled back again. He held out the bead to Melisande as he had the pear, eager to share.

"I cannot believe this," he said, somewhat breathlessly, his left eye still half-spilled of gold. "Somehow they have trapped a little dawn within this. Do, do look."

He looked back into his basket, but then changed his mind, reaching out and plucking one of Melisande's strawberries from her plate. He smiled at her and took a bite, one hand bracing under the berry to catch for drips. He half-closed his eyes in pleasure. "Perfect. Did you make them?"

--

Shepard chuckled, and turned slightly as he saw crabs being deposited on the table. It was all messy work, but he didn't mind in the least -- they were being fed, and fed well. He took some of the crab onto his already-messy plate, nodding to show he was still following Troxel's conversation.

"Not gonna lie, had huge misgivings when they promoted G to captain when they did. Thought he was too young for the responsibility. Too much on a guy when he's just had his breakout year. But he's provin' me wrong, and I like that," he said.

"Wing? Props on that, too much for me." Suddenly remembering his phone, he punched in a few numbers and scrolled, then broke into a smile. "Another win, 4-3. Nothin' like a back-to-back. Y'gotta let me know what league this is you got, by the way. Looking for something a little over my level, challenge, y'know what I mean."

He paused, laughing. "I've actually been tryin' to teach a couple Raevans -- nothing too fancy, obviously. Just stick handling, a little goalie glove-saving. They're better than you'd think with it."
