Asked about what word was said, Julian blushed uncomfortably and looked down. "He, umm... H-He said... Umm, he said what the toy was..."
"And that is...?" Cameron quirked an eyebrow at the boy whose blush deepened.
"U-Uh, umm... P... Pee... ni.. Peen..."
"You mean pen-s?"
Hearing that word, Julian tensed up then let out his shrill cry again, burying his face into Liam's chest.
Cameron blinked at Julian then looked up at Liam. "What!?"

"It sounds groooss!" Julian whined while lifting his head up to reveal the small, flustered face. He rubbed his cheeks until he heard what Liam called the strange officer, making him turn around to point back to the living room. "And-And Daniel called me an idiot!" he said, turning to glare up at the doctor. "Does he really have to stay here?" he whined.

Julian huffed when Liam spoke, but he perked at the idea he was given. "Ooh! Yeah, let's do that!"
"Hey, what about me?" Cameron frowned. Had he been able to move, he'd be flailing about in a fit. They weren't planning on leaving him all alone here, were they? What if his nose got itchy!

Julian beamed with pride when offered the chance to take Daniel to the park. "I can do it! But it's not my fault if that bully gets run over." he said.
"Speaking of which, aren't they still in the living room?" Cameron noted.

Julian too found himself annoyed by the loving sight. If families were always like this then maybe he shouldn't have killed those orphans to help.
The boy tensed and bristled with irritation when the smaller boy used that stupid nickname. He glared at Daniel then looked up at Liam, giving him a light frown that said he changed his mind. The only thing that motivated him enough to go was Liam's words earlier about him getting to push Daniel off the swing, and so he looked back to the other child and nodded. "Bye." he said over his shoulder to the doctor then headed to the door, not bothering to see if Daniel was following or not.

Liam was sitting in the living room, reading a magazine and sipping at his tea. He was letting (or making, same deal) Cameron rest in the other room, and waiting patiently for the two boys to return. He knew he had to make dinner soon, but that could wait until the boys were back and in the tub. As he lifted the cup for another sip, the door banged open, and in trudged a bruised up Daniel with a broken Julian on his back. The cup fell to the ground, tea splashing out onto the rug and the cup thankfully not shattering. The doctor's heart fell down to his stomach, and tears brimmed his eyes as he took in the sight of his son, his boy, and that feeling inside him from before burst open.
"Julian!" The doctor stood and rushed over, falling to his knees and taking the boy into his arms, his heart shattering as he looked over the boy. His fingers skimmed over his child, opening the shirt to peek at his chest. Bruises, cuts, at the least two fractured ribs, every single sign of a merciless beating. First, Liam's eyes went to Daniel, blaming him, but his suspicions were quickly derailed by the guilt in his eyes as he watched Julian. "Daniel, what happened?" he asked, voice shaking.
"Bullies," was all he said, taking a deep breath before ripping his eyes from Julian. "You can fix him, right? You can make him better?"
"I can try," replied Liam, his voice breaking closer to the end as he stood with Julian cradled in his arms. "It's okay, baby. I'm here, I'm going to take care of you. And those nasty boys... We'll rip them apart until there's nothing left." Trembling, pale fingers rose to Julian's hair, carefully brushing it before he looked to Daniel. "Go to your uncle and stay with him. I'm taking Julian to his grandfather's to have him healed. He'll be okay, Daniel."
Daniel nodded, then reluctantly ran into the room where Cameron was, not wanting to see Julian go for fear that he wouldn't see him again.
The doctor waited until Daniel was gone to stride out the door, Julian held safely to his body. "Don't worry, Julian. I may not be your mother, but I'm going to fix this like a mother should," he said down to the boy as they got into the elevator.

"Th-there was a fight," said Daniel as he climbed over the body and clambered onto a stool. "I beat them up pretty good, though. Twisted one's arm out of its socket and broke the other one's nose. Think Daddy would be proud of me, or should I keep it from him?"

Daniel was quiet at the officer's question, not wanting to say anything he knew he would regret. "... Auntie Liam doesn't want you to worry, or to get up," he half-whispered. "But... But Julian got hurt. A lot. He thinks that Julian may have broken a rib." The boy looked away in shame.
