Eloquent Sonata
Saenshu

Saenshu was greeted with a warmth and wealth of love. Poor Saenshu! The Silver egg was rather nasty, wasn't it? Could Saenshu explain what pink was? None of the others had. The pale egg let out a burst of frustration. It so wanted to know! What was pink? What was it? Why did everyone who came to it, think of it as pink?

His heart felt as if it were soaring from the amount of love and warmth that radiated from the Pale Egg, he found himself speechless. It was quite remarkable just how different they were. Well, it was easily decided in his mind that he liked this egg far more!

Wait... what? The color pink? It wanted to know what the color pink was. Staring rather quizzically at the egg, he thought hard for a moment. How could he describe the color pink? He supposed using the words humans had labeled colors was rather ineffective when talking to something that had never left its egg. Hmm.

Rubbing his fingers along its shell, he tried to imagine what things he related to the color pink. As he imagined these things, he opened his thoughts to the egg. Love, kindness, flowers, gentleness... all of these things he found related to such a color. It was a shade of beauty, and it often represented the warmth of feelings towards another person. It was odd he was thinking so deeply about the subject as he had never pondered such a thing before, but as time went on he began to find it interesting what was perceived in such a way.

With a confident nod, Saenshu pat the Pale Egg. "Pink is the color of love, and that's what color you are. People find you beautiful, and it makes them happy." Moving his hand away, he had hoped that sort of cleared up the matter for it until it could see the color for itself. "I'm sure you'll agree once you see pink for the first time." He smiled, satisfied with his words.

It was then he made his way towards the Wicked Egg. Although this egg's appearance was far different compared to the rest, it had a certain allure he definitely couldn't deny.

Kaimi

Kaimi was leaving the Wicked egg as two other girls approached it. She overheard the snarky comments the one made to the other, and frowned. She was about to turn around and let the candidate know that it really wasn't her business to tell other people they didn't deserve to be on the sands, but she paused. It appeared that the Wicked egg was saying something similar. Kaimi felt a faint smile twitch at her lips. Given her age, and the fact that she had only joined the ranks of candidacy recently, she was just as prone to being judged unworthy. She knew the sting of it.

Making her way to the Pink Egg, Kaimi patiently waited until the boy who was there had left and then she rested the palms of her hands on the pretty shell. It was so big she felt sure it must contain a male dragon, and she wondered if he would be as lovely as his shell was.

Eloquent Sonata
Saenshu

The Pale Egg sent Saenshu a rush of graditude. Oh thank you, thank you for explaining what pink was! It liked making people happy! It looked forward to seeing it!

Yes, it was alluring. Different from all the others, because it was superior to them! Far greater than the rest! Did Saenshu see that? If he didn't agree, he could go away!

Faewynd
Kaimi

Oh, hello! The pale egg was honred by Kaimi's attention. It was a nice, gentle color, wasn't it? Could she explain pink further? Pink was the color of love, but what else was pink? Did she find it more beautiful than all the other eggs? She shouldn't.

Elsi

Elsi had the decency to be embarrassed by what she sensed from the egg. N-no, it's wasn't the only reason at all! And the only reason for the emphasis on color was not whether it was beautiful or not, but because of what it represented. It meant responsibility, leadership, looking over the rest of the Weyr. Even junior weyrwomen would have a duty to fulfill when it came to managing the Weyr.. and it wasn't just the rider. Golds were the mothers of dragons in more ways than one. They soothed dragons when they needed to be soothed, they rallied their kind in times of need.

It was the color of responsibility. And Elsi understood what a powerful thing that was, and how easily it could be squandered.

The silver egg would be one of those under her wing and protection, Elsi thought to the gold egg, a gentle chiding as she peered curiously toward it. She gave one last stroke of the shell, slipping away from it to head toward the wicked egg. She had been warned of this one.. and of the silver one as well. So instead, she circled the Wicked egg and watched it from afar, tentatively attempting to reach out with whatever mental ability that allowed her to be a candidate in the first place.

Fiolen

With the little Frosted Egg -hopefully- sufficiently amused, Fio sat up and brushed the sand off of his pants and looked around. Which egg next? He worked his way towards the Ocean Egg. Touching the shell with his fingertips, he considered the shell's texture, all the while warily peeping about with his thoughts, searching for presence yet ready to pull back quickly if the egg's contents showed itself to be… aggressive.

However, it was a particularly quiet egg, and Fio wouldn't dare to dig any deeper than he had already done. Instead, he merely stood back up and moved on to the next. Rusted Egg was as good as any, so long as it wasn't mean. He ran his fingers along the shell, pausing when he felt the roughness of the blemish. What a strange, interesting egg!

Kaimi

Pink? The young harper was slightly surprised by the question, but she supposed the color of the egg had been much remarked upon. It already seemed to have a grasp on some of the emotions that came with pink. Innocence and sweetness and love and softness... She wasn't sure how else she could help express pink, except to hold the image of a rainbow in her mind, so that the egg could pick out what color in general looked like. It must be awful dark and confusing inside those eggs.

Demanthra

Demanthra felt warmth from the golden egg and encouragement, which made her feel a lot better. The scaled egg had been rude, but at least the gold believed in her and wanted to keep going with her dreams. She gave the golden egg a soft pat, giving it a heartfelt thanks and that she would remember it. She also sent a wish for the golden's own happiness in her mind, hoping it heard her. Then she gently took her hand off the shell, before looking for where to go next. She saw the beautiful Wicked Egg and wondered what creature might be there. She placed her hand on the egg gingerly, loving the colors of it.

Saenshu smiled as he felt the the rush of gratitude from the Pale Egg. He felt glad that he was able to alleviate its frustrations in some way.

Thoughts returning to the Wicked Egg, he paused. It was true he found it alluring and definitely unique, but.. superior? Well, no. Every egg was superior in their own way. Surely the Wicked Egg could understand the value of varying strengths? It was beautiful, as other eggs could be smart, or strong. What did it think of that? He smiled at the egg, caressing it lightly. If all eggs were the same it'd be quite boring!

He began to wonder whenhe had last thought about such things. It wasn't often he was left with enough time to ponder the strengths and weaknesses of others, he simply just worked on getting the job done. It was a bit entertaining to think about.

Mind still wandering, he turned and walked to the Frosted Egg. Although the shell would make it seem cold, he smiled gently as his hand came in contact with its warm shell.

Fiolen

The touch from the egg was tentative. What? What was he doing? Did he think Rusted was mean? It tried not to be. Honestly it did. It was sorry if if had been mean to him. Would he forgive it? That would be mean if he didn't forgive.

Fiolen

W-hat? No way! Fiolen didn't find him rude at all! He was just afraid that the egg would be rude. It really all was so silly in hindsight. He hurriedly soothed the egg with a series of pats, awash with gratefulness that this egg didn't somehow hate him for one reason or another. After all, Fio was an.. odd fellow.

She'd find the girl later and tell her that she hadn't meant to sound so harsh. She wasn't apologizing, but more so going to tell her that she has a rough way of speaking to others. When it came to music however she seemed quite gentle. It was odd how that worked. She did have to work on her person to person skills. She blamed her family for this, being an only child and placing most of that blame on herself. She hadn't really played with other kids her age and had just grown up doing chores and working hard. She had never had the time to work on how to politely get her thoughts across. It was on her checklist of things to remedy.

She lifted her hand from the Bright Egg And moved on to the Ocean Egg and the Rusted Egg, placing her hand on the colorful shell of the rusted one first. She ran her hand over its rough gritty texture and she admired the colors. It had similar shards of gold and orange as the Gold Egg and she smiled as she remembered what the Gold Egg had sent her telepathically. She moved her hand over to the smooth texture of the egg next to it and she found it's speckled appearance to be quite lovely. It was a very pretty egg. She couldn't help but smile at it's thoughts to her, or were they more like feelings of what it was feeling? She really wasn't sure the best way to explain it. It was a sensation that took over her every sense, that much she knew. She reassured the Rusted Egg that it was very much indeed worth admiring, if not for its colors but for it's insight. She knew what she had to do and she would find Becka later and explain. She thanked it with a small smile.

Moving away from the two eggs she walked over to the Silver Egg and wondered why it was so far away from the rest. She placed her palm upon the smaller egg of the bunch and she ran her hand upon it's shell feeling its texture. It's response was rather testy and she knew that it was there for a reason but perhaps it shouldn't be so quick to judge her thoughts. This made her thing for a moment because her actions were quite like its sensation right now. Strange how an egg touching could give you so much more insight into yourself. She couldn't help but thank the egg, despite it's attempts to thwart her otherwise. After a moment she lifted her hand and moved on towards the Blazing Egg and the one it was hiding behind, the Frosted Egg. She touched the Frosted Egg first since it was closer and she liked how the colors went from light to dark and that it had a very smooth and slick shell. It was interesting how each egg felt different, as they should. It was just interesting to her. Perhaps she would write a song about this clutch so turns from now would hear of its loveliness. Removing her hand she came to the final egg she had yet to touch. She placed her palm upon the ridged shell of the Blazing Egg. She wished the clutch a safe and happy hatching for when the time came and she removed her hand and returned to the edge of the sand, glancing over the clutch making sure to remember it for its uniqueness so she could properly write about it later.

Rusted Egg
Was she admiring Rusted? Really? Was it worth admiring? It hadn't done anything that knew of. Rusted Egg threaded a quiet query into her mind. Did she really regret the harsh words? Was she going to apologize for hurting someone's feelings? It would.

Silver Egg
What? Did she have a problem with how far away it was? Too Bad! Silver doesn't care. It was out here for a reason. Clearly she can't read the signs in front of her face! Good. Go.

(squeezing the last three eggs in)

Becka moved off from the Scaled egg, still admiring the way it's shell had been bumpy. She moved towards the large Shooting Star Egg another large one, she'd bet this contained at least a brown. She really liked the look of the shooting star egg, even before she laid her hand on it's smooth shell, in fact if she's tried to stroke it she was sure her hand would have slipped, it was so smooth, like polished wood almost ... well maybe polished wood that had stood in the sunlight, it was really warm, she liked it a lot but reluctantly moved on.

The next egg was also blue in color, The Ocean Egg it was so small but at least this one had a companion, unlike that awful silver egg, she hoped this one felt nicer, She ran her hand over it's rippling surface, what a pleasant egg, it was such a shame she had to leave it to go and touch the last one.

She moved off to the side, The Rusted Egg was a curious looking thing, the blotching on it was quite interesting, it's texture was similar to another egg she'd touched. She smiled as she touched it, sure it was small but she'd bet that whoever Impressed this egg would be ecstatic. Reluctantly again she moved away from it, wishing she wasn't leaving the Sands.

With all the eggs touched she could now truthfully tell T'rel that she had, she rarely lied, there was no point in it but T'rel had made her promise to go. Well he wanted her to Stand but there was no way, she was a Healer, not a Dragonrider, she fixed them when they hurt themselves, she wasn't a rider, she was sure of that. She took one last lingering look at the eggs and the Candidates still moving among them then left the Sands after giving the Gold another respectful bow.

Revel1984

Hello there. It was blotchy? Rusted hoped it wouldn't blotch it's own hatching! Who? Who else had its similar texture? Did she really think so? Rusted hoped it's rider would be happy to have it. What if it's rider didn't like it?! Oh oh dear. That would be terribly bad wouldn't it?
