Well. That said it all then, didn't it?
Sherry smiled a little more, her vision getting blurry again what with the tears and all. "If, um," she began, taking her hand back and wringing it with the other, "if you ever need a Lifer for anything, you know where to find me." They might not be friends or anything, but she'd not leave him to die anywhere. Never.
She really should be mad at him. He'd lied, and lied some more. He'd told her he cared then took that back and confused her, more than once now. She should still be mad at him, but she wasn't.
"If anything you said today was true, if you did care about me, then do me a favor. Don't be quite so reckless, ok? Chester needs you to get him back." She wasn't mad, just very, very sad. Which was why the only good-bye he got was a wave as she turned. She wanted her room, her bed. She knew she'd cry, and a nap would hopefully help the headache she had.

He didn't respond, didn't even move until she was out of sight. Only then did he sigh, sitting up as he buried his face in his hands. "I won't make the same mistake twice. Never again."
