As someone who has traveled the Internet, far and wide, Role-Playing with all manner of people; I can honestly say that much of what was has fallen away, and been replaced with something...else.
It's the natural course of the world, and as we continue to grow older...and cling to the things we enjoy...those among the next generation will find new things to do. Look at the top five pages in Barton Town, or branch out into other forums, and you'll see a vastly different scene than what once was. To say that combat RP, or...hell...even RP at all...is as big today as it was five-to-ten years ago simply isn't true.
The hobby is shrinking, and that's part of the reason why "our style" has begun to clash with those of other people...Like Galaxy, and the HvH crowd.
I'm not saying that we're the only people out there doing this, and the ground isn't shrinking beneath our feet...RPers are just slowly dying out.
