Almost the same moment the second wave ended, the third swept into view. Queth cursed internally. Now! Wingleaders, manage refuelling mid-wave. Fly on dragons, this is the final push!>

With all the hits they had been taking it was inevitable really. The Thread caught them again, striking Acriculeth square in the chest. When he re-emerged from between his eyes were completely grey and he reached out to bespeak Queth and Alloceth. With that the pair disappeared again, returning to the Weyr for what pain relief could be given in a short space of time.

I could keep going...
Nope. Our shift's up and you're tired. Lets get you patched up. They may end up calling us back anyways. With the way that bronze was looking, not to mention many of the other dragons, unless this was the last wave they might be in trouble.
Emerath changing out! The little green called to Queth before spiraling away from Zenith wing and blinking between to take herself and Ja'kki back to Malvren.

And then came the third wave. Sa'nil was a bronzerider, without the luxury of dropping out from the Fall. There would have been no one to take his shift. Still, this...wasn't the worst thing that had happened. They were doing all right, so far. There didn't seem to be much Thread in the final clump - it could certainly have been worse.
Still, there was plenty to sear. Sa'nil turned his face toward the oncoming Fall, catching sight of a clump and directing Zenoth with a single mental nudge. The bronze sent affirmative in return, twisting in the air and speeding toward the clump, jaws open to flame as he did so.

Sa'nil and Zenoth
HP: 64 - 9 - 3 = 52

They had misjudged.
The clump was closer than they had realized. Zenoth's flame missed all but the tiniest bit of it, the remainder of the clump searing across the bronze's muzzle, sending Zenoth between with a shriek of pain. Sa'nil gave a shout that was more of a hoarse rasp, clinging to the straps desperately.
Are you all right? Are you all right? He was desperate as Zenoth blinked back into real space.
...Yeah. Fine. But the bronze sounded shaken. That had been close. Too close.
Not just a little one this time.
I know. Zenoth snorted, shaking his head. His muzzle stung enough to make Sa'nil's eyes water.
Are you going to make it?
I'll be fine. We keep going.

Queth says this is the last wave. I can stick it out.
If you say so. No backing out mid wave. Luka smiled with a teasing tone to her voice. Both knew she was honestly worried for her blue's wing, but with his confidence she didn't want to drop out now. It only made them look better to last an entire Fall.
They would have to refuel though. Luka's bags were just about empty and she fed the last few decent pieces to Lophorinth before they went back on the attack.
Well, maybe next clump. Loph had cut it a little close and in a moment, chose his own hide over burning the whole patch of thread.

poecileth nodded mentally.
She moved out of the way of the thread and fighting.
she relayed to Queth and Alloceth, She switched to broadcasting to the whole wing, she sent, along with a wave of encouragement and confidence.
And then, to Lophorinth, with a softly sly tone,
And with that, the pair Blinked between home to Benden to start treating the wounded.

The world was determined not to be kind to Acriculeth, or so it seemed. A knot of Thread struck him on the flank and for a moment he didn't feel it thanks to the numbweed. When he did he jumped between to safety, soon to reappear back in place. wrong with me today?> he asked of his rider; the question rhetorical, his tone frustrated.

Luka was good and tired of this. Not just the physical and mental exhaustion that came with fighting Thread, but the fact that they had to do it in the first place. I thought those wherhandlers had had something to do this for us? She grumped
Whers can't fight thread? Lophorinth crooned a goodbye to Poecileth, not paying much attention to his rider when he had a pretty green wanting to spend time with him.
Thread. Left. Luka ducked as Lophorinth flamed. You missed again! She scolded with a smack on his neck.

The blue wheeled around, blasting a clump with his flame. He was flaming well, though he did have the advantage against the ones who had been part of the threadfall for longer. That was part of the point of having people who could switch once some of the others needed breaks.
