Unfortunately, that didn't seem to work; apparently the strange gauntlet gave Anubis enhanced physical capabilities as well, because he easily caught the punch, watching Mika lazily even as he grabbed her by the throat and lifted her up in the air. "It's a pity that I'm going to have to kill you; unlike Dante, I don't enjoy taking a life. Unfortunately, if I let you live, you'll be too much of an obstacle to our plans. Goodbye."
However, before Anubis could do anything, he let out a yelp and a hiss, dropping Mika as five deep gouges appeared in his side. Whirling around, he tried to figure out what had given him his wound, only to notice that Forrest had apparently gone missing. There was a dark chuckle as gouges appeared in his back to match the ones on his side. "What's the matter? Don't tell me you're scared of little old me," Forrest's voice taunted... it seemed warped, however, almost as if Treant's voice were overlapping his own.
Anubis tensed, pressing a button on his gauntlet that made his skin darker and much, much harder. "Interesting... I'd heard rumors about the Forest Spectre, but I assumed they were just that - rumors."
"Forest Spectre? Is that what they call this side of me?" Forrest noted with amusement. "Me, I call it Symbiosis Formation - Ranger and partner, working in unison to the point where the line between human and Pokémon becomes blurred."
Anubis tensed up, quickly realizing the implications of this: the Capture Inhibitor was made to work on Pokémon, not... whatever Forrest was at the moment. On top of that, if Forrest had somehow merged with his Trevenant as was being implied, that meant the Ranger would be able to use Pokémon moves and abilities... and Anubis wouldn't be able to do a thing to stop him. As if to emphasize that point, suddenly a stab wound appeared in Anubis's arm, the Team Shadow member feeling a draining sensation, almost as if his energy were being drained (Horn Leech for the win! 3nodding ).

"Don't worry, Sorren; I'll wrap this up in a jiffy," Forrest assured the Braviary.
Anubis grunted. "I highly doubt that." However, it was at that point that the Capture Inhibitor promptly started rewiring itself. Once it was done, Forrest pressed a button on it with an evil little cackle, and suddenly Sorren didn't feel anywhere near as weak as a moment ago, the two Rangers' Stylers no longer on the fritz. Anubis and his Tyranitar, however, were crying out in pain. "What... did you... do?!?" he gritted out.
"I just reversed the polarity on your little toy; how does it feel to get a taste of your own medicine tenfold?" Forrest asked tauntingly, becoming invisible again to reveal that his hair had turned green, his skin had turned brown, his eyes had turned red, and he'd grown some demonic-looking claws and horns. He then turned to Sorren, becoming more serious. "Come on, Sorren; I'll carry Mika, let's get out of here."

Forrest carefully helped Sorren onto his shoulder, then picked up Mika bridal-style. Sending a cheeky little smirk over at Anubis, a wall of stone rose up between the Rangers and the Team Shadow member, Forrest heading to his motorcycle. He pressed a button which caused a sidecar to pop out, carefully putting Mika in the sidecar and putting Sorren in there with her before hopping on the cycle himself and zipping back to their base, Celebi following.

"Right here," Forrest told her, looking over from where he'd been drawing some sort of blueprints. "Good to see you're awake; I was a little worried myself."
"Trevenant!" A familiar pair of bark-covered arms picked Mika up from behind at that point and hugged her tightly... a little too tightly, in fact.
"As you can see, Treant was worried, too," Forrest added, smiling slightly at his partner's antics.

Treant just sniffled, nursing the peck wounds and looking like he was about to burst into tears any moment now - really, he was just showing how glad he was that Mika was okay, why did Sorren have to peck him?
Noting his partner's state. Forrest patted Treant's shoulder comfortingly before answering Mika's question. "I'm going to be blunt here: that little contraption that Anubis guy had rendered you nearly helpless. I don't like that, and I doubt you particularly enjoyed it either, so with your permission, I'd like to modify your styler so that it works like mine." He showed her the blueprints of a Styler similar to his own modified Styler, a small smirk on his face. "If you agree, I'm going to basically incorporate Sorren's Pokéball into your styler. If you so choose, you'll be able to have him aim the styler from the inside, which gets around that little can't-remotely-control-the-styler issue that Capture Inhibitor causes - I call it Autonomous Formation. If Sorren uses moves from inside the Styler, he'll be able to cause all sorts of effects to help out, too. I can also add a Symbiosis Formation where you merge with Sorren temporarily, but since I haven't worked out all the kinks involved in a non-Ghost-type merge, that would take time and two DNA samples - one from you, one from Sorren." It was hard to say which was more impressive - the upgrades he was offering to make or the fact that he didn't have to stop for breath even once during the explanation.

"No, you'll still be female, since you'll be the dominant entity in the merge," Forrest explained even as he gently plucked one or two of the more easily dislodged feathers from the Braviary's wings. "From what I can tell, it has to do with a trained Pokémon's mentality. The moment they accept a human as their trainer - or in this case, the moment they agree to be a Ranger's partner - they immediately become submissive to the human in question, even if only subconsciously and in battle, or else they wouldn't be able to react to orders as quickly as they do. There are exceptions, of course, but as a general rule, they only tend to exist among the more belligerent species, such as Gyarados and Charizard, and among abused Pokémon."
Treant just stared blankly at his partner, as did Celebi from where it had been looking around; apparently Forrest had lost the two Grass-types after "no".

Forrest's answer was to grin, grab some spare parts from a nearby crate, take Mika's Styler and Sorren's Pokéball and start working on the little upgrade with impressive speed. "Give me twelve hours or so, and I'll let you give it a test run," he told the duo.
