It was a slight relief when Roger didn't seem appalled at the mention of him coming by with more things to fix, or recreate. Some smiths got offended by it. It seemed he'd found a good business partner, someone who he could trust to do a good job.
Among other things perhaps.
His own cheeks flushed slightly at his own creeping thoughts, though he cleared his throat to dispel them, trying to remain calm. It wouldn't be too much longer to his workshop and home..Right?
"Perhaps he did." Nic replied, sighing in relief.

How long could it really take? Look, there was a perfectly good alleyway, obscured from the street. They could just have a moment in the dark before they made it back and-- No, no, he'd better not get ahead of himself. It was a little insulting, though, that young, interested couples could pass by hand-in-hand without a second look, and they had to stay a good few inches apart at all times. Such was life, right? There was a reason he had tied his hands behind his back.
He cocked his head at Nic slightly. Perhaps he did... what? What did the carpenter think he meant? He'd like to know, but...
"How are you for running right now?"

Nic just wanted to sit down and talk, though...If Roger was wanting to just hush off to an alleyway, he doubted he'd refuse. It'd been a long time. A very long, lonely time. But, he wasn't quite sure even so.
Then came the question of running. "Running?" He laughed, noting the slight eagerness hidden behind the words. "I'm good if you're good."

Roger leaned and pointed down the road.
"If you follow that road and take a left, we won't be far from your shop. What do I win if I beat you there?" Ah, he was being cheeky, but he didn't give a damn. He was having fun! He imagined he was at an advantage with his years in the service, but you could never be entirely sure!

"Ah, you'll just have to wait and see, my friend!" Nicholas didn't hesitate in bolting for it, without even giving Roger a chance to start as well. He could run, yes, but was he faster than Roger?

"HEY!"
That had been his idea! Laughing, Roger made a break for it, shoes pounding the pavement. A going-out outfit was even less constricting than the average uniform, and he was less weighed-down! He was gaining on Nic in moments, not offering any warning but the sounds the sprint was making.

Nic was simply no match for the former soldier. Either that or he was losing on purpose. It was one of the two, and maybe Roger could get it out of him later, but he wasn't going to own up to anything right now. He arrived at his shop seconds after Roger, breathing heavily, though laughing and smiling. He didn't hesitate in opening the door after unlocking it, leaning over a little as he held it open to let him in.
"W-Well." He breathed, chuckling. "That was fun."

Although his chest rose and fell more rapidly, Roger had attempted a casual lean against the outside wall, grinning with his lips closed. When Nic arrived he could only laugh, and perhaps they weren't acting the very most heterosexual or their age, but who cared? It was late, and nobody was looking for a carpenter.
"So what do I get, hm?" he asked, gladly stepping into the building and walking backward to address Nic.

Pah, what did it matter. Not many people would be out and about in these streets anyway. Nic stepped in after him, closing the door with a smile as he caught his breath. Oh he had something in mind, though perhaps it would be more fun to make Roger wait...
Nah.
"Oh, you're really that curious?" He laughed, smirking to himself. "I have half a mind to make you wait."

He laughed again and shook his head.
"What kind of prize is that?! Or is it one of those prizes?"
All implications aside, he made no move forward. He flirted, but he didn't make moves he wasn't sure of, and this could all just be in fun for all he knew. He could go with a sandwich or something too...

Without a word, Nic reached out and deftly took Roger's hand, pulling it up to his face before smirking. Carefully, over the back of it, he planted a soft kiss, unable to keep from grinning as he pulled away and let the smith's hand slip from his.
"There. Happy with your prize?" He teased, crossing his arms and he looked rather pleased with himself.

Roger expelled a sound somewhere between a laugh and a hiss. His hand fell down and he shook his head before offering a deep bow.
"I'm honored, m'lord."
When he righted, he could only shake his head.
"You're a terrible tease, do you know that?"

"What, would you have rather I done something else?" Oh he was curious, perhaps teasing, but didn't seem to let up, instead, guiding him over to his own small kitchen.
"I'll put the water on to boil...If you really do want tea that is." He glanced back at Roger, smiling to himself.

"Tea would be fine, thank you," he nodded, 'Whatever you have."
Was it quite the prize he had expected? No. Not after the amount of candy being thrown around that tavern. Still, it could be a blessing in disguise! Don't move too fast, let the humming subside just a little and see Nic as a man and a friend, not a potential conquest.
"Is there any use for me?" He began to wander, crouching to admire Nic's work in the dim. He really was very talented...

"Tea it is." Nic hummed, finding his teapot. "If you could get out a few cups and some tea, that would be nice. Should be around here somewhere."
He turned to watch Roger look at his work, and smiled a little. It was good to see someone appreciate it...But for now he had to tend to the fire and get the water starting to boil.
"So. It seems I finally found someone like me, huh? Good to know I'm not all alone anymore."
