If she could have heard Damien's thoughts, she would have agreed: she would hardly stop, and had, more than once, skirted death just to keep on fighting. She could be in pain later.

Or dead. Preferably not dead.

Amarus felt nearly immaculately well, suddenly-- she realized that the stranger working so hard to keep her alive was really, really helping.
