"Aw, man..." Kai blinked a couple times as his werecat eyes adjusted to the dim darkness. Some of the guys were stumbling around, and Kai could have sworn he heard Rory yelp. "Calm down, everyone. It's all right, the power just....went out."
Kai saw a very guilty-looking Lin softly set down the Hexbox controller and walk away from it whistling innocently. Kai put a finger to his lips (not that anyone aside from maybe Shad could see it...)
"Shhhh. I need to hear to know if...." The sound of a hum coming from the Mad Science lab resonated through the mansion. Kai breathed a little easier. "Whew. That's the backup generator for the lab. If that hadn't started up, we would all have to start running right now. Ah, heh heh....so, good thing that didn't get shorted out! Right?"
Well, this wasn't good. No electricity in the rest of the mansion meant no Hexbox, no TV, no music and no way to heat up or refrigerate any of the food. This put the creepover's 'clawesome party' needle pointing strictly in the 'lamesauce' side of the gauge.

Shadeaux almost immediately started to have a panic attack, running around in place in circles!
"I can't see! I CAN'T SEE!"
"Shad!"
"WHAT!?"
"Take off your shades bro!"
Shad paused and slowly reached up, pinched the wire of his shades and pulled them from his eyes. He looked around and saw perfectly in the darkness. He then looked at Kai and made a goofy 'laughing face'.
"Well whaddya know? Had the silly things left on!"

So who thought it was a good idea to let the accident prone gremlin near something electronic? He supposed he could just be thankful this didn't blow up in his face like the last thing lin touched. He sighed, set the controller down and remained where he was. No sense stumbling around blind.
"Don't suppose you have any torches or candles?"
Long dark nights weren't anything new to the selkie, living in coastal and often remote regions across the world, he'd become fairly used to periodic storms knocking out the power.
Slowly he got to his feet, using his phone to provide dim illumination.
"It's probably just a blown fuse...or several." He'd have glared at the gremlin could he see him.

"Hold on, fellas! I got a quick fix!"Having said that, a small light suddenly ignites from the tip of Glen's iCoffin/wand, illuminating everything in a soft glow in his immediate vicinity."There! That's bet..."And just as quickly, the light fades out."Aw Oz! I forgot to charge my iCoffin! Hey Kai! Can I plug this into your pop's reactor?"

Ronan rolled his eyes at Glen's question, not that anyone could see. He spoke flatly, as if the solution was blindingly obvious to anyone who wasn't a blithering idiot.
"How about, instead of potentially blowing us all sky high... we locate the fuse box and fix the issue the old fashioned way?"
Navigating around the furniture using his icoffin as a makeshift and dim torch, he found his way to Kai's side.
"Of course, we could just sit in the dark and panic. That's option B." Folding his arms across his chest, he waited to see if someone was going to take charge or if they'd all continue to run around like headless werechickens.

"Hmm...." Kai thought about the options. This was a decision-making thing...one of his most severe weaknesses. The way he saw it, it boiled down to three options.Option 1 Kai replaced the fuses in the fusebox. Nero gave him a brofist. Ronan looked irreconcilably grumpy. Lin gave out a cheer....and blew all the fuses again. Lather, rinse repeat... Option 2 Everyone stood around in the dark. Nero tried to give him a brofist, but ended up accidentally punching Ronan, explaining for once why he looked irreconcilably grumpy. Gryff gave out a cheer, snapped a picture and posted it on Grimblr to make fun of. Option 3 Everyone went outside and had a bonfire in the backyard. Nero gave brofists to everyone. Ronan cracked a smile, which was the best that could be hoped for. Gryff updated his Grimblr account with something snarky about bonfires and bros. Okay, so maybe this decision wasn't quite as hard as some of the ones Kai always found himself agonizing over."How about we all go outside and get the bonfire pit going?"

Ronan nodded, thankful that Kai actually seemed to be taking charge. Wait.. wasn't this guy terrible at decision making? Oh well, he wasn't about to complain if it meant they got to stop standing around and freaking out.
"Good idea. What do you need a hand with?"
His eyes were slowly adjusting to the gloom but sadly, he wasn't a monster designed for the dark. Tripping over furniture (or vertically challenged gremlins), didn't strike him as much fun. At least outside there was less to break a toe on.

The thing about MAX was that he was always on, always having a light glow about him, so when the lights went out there was a faint glow around his wrist.
Roswell continued eating, stopping just long enough to speak to Glen. "Glen, I'm sure MAX could give you a charge, he never minds helping out a friend with a power boost."
He liked the idea of going outside, looking up at the stars reminded him of home, although this was not his galaxy, he knew enough about the Milkyway to name a few of the constellations.
"Let's go then. I'll lead the way. Follow MAX's light. Just don't touch the bon-fire, It hurts." He said as he led them outside.

It was a warm, almost-fall night outside, perfect for sitting around a bonfire and fanging out. Kai dragged some brush over to the pit and got the fire going as all the guys filtered outside. The Merha Mansion had a nice backyard that bled into the woods behind it. Kai had spent many nights back here, fanging out with Nero or sitting with his ghoul Demona in front of a roaring bonfire. There was a bag of martianmallows next to one of the big logs rolled in front of the bonfire that was used as a seat. Kai held them up.
"Anyone wanna toast martianmallows?"

Kai then felt a slight tug on his arm, only to turn and look down to find the small gremlin looking up at him while munching on one of said martialmallows. As before Lin still looked so guilty at what he caused, it was almost pitiful.
He motioned with a claw for Kai to lean down so he might whisper and not be overheard."Sorry about your Hex Box. I-I can fix it. But I... I think I should go."Lin looked back around at the other boos, some conversing between themselves and others looking over in his direction, though not necessarily at him like he might believe."I don't want to cause any more catastrophes and ... if I wanted to get the stink eye, I'd go shopping at Beast Boo."

"What? No man, don't go!" Kai frowned. Hurt feelings weren't part of the creepover plan. "Don't let that get you down, all right? It's just because they don't know you very well, and-"
"Hmm." Kai cut himself off and got thoughtful. It WAS true; there were a lot of bros here who, although they went to school together, didn't really know each other all that well. Even he'd been pretty ignorant earlier talking to Rory Bludworth. Kai looked down at Lin and grinned.
"Here, come with me." Kai led Lin over to the biggest log laying in front of the fire and had him take a seat. "Hey guys, can I have your attention for a moment?"
Eyes of all colors turned and looked at Kai, who gave them all a confident smile. "Where I come from, it's tradition when you have a bonfire to sit down and tell some stories to each other. Stories about your past, present or the history of your family. It's a tradition of lore. And I can't think of anyone better to start things off than the manster who got us all to step away from the distractions of modern technology so we could gather out here, under the stars."
Kai 'presented' Lin to the crowd.
"Lin McGearloch is going to tell us a story about his family."

eek
"Hm?" Lin pointed a claw at himself. "Me!?"
Lin turned and looked from Kai who nodded at him with that all-too familiar friendly smile of his. All of the rest of the boos slowly filtered over to the bonfire and they started to have seats on the logs, or lounge back on the comfortable ground. Either way, they watched him, and waited with expectation... and a bit of monster curiosity. Luckily, Gryff took his spot to Lin's immediate right and being near Gryff always gave the small gremlin a shot of self confidence.
Lin rubbed his palms on his pants and swallowed hard before he started.
"I-I d'know if this counts as a 'story' about me family, but it's a bit of hiss-tory. A lot of you probably d'not know this, `cept for Gryff ... and maybe Kai, but my mom and grimma's side of the family has a hiss-tory in the performing arts."
"What sort of history?"
"Well, um..." Lin then fished around in his pocket and pulled out a wallet that looked much too big for a monster a gremlin's size. He pulled out two photographs from inside and offered them over to Kai. "That's me mum in the color photo. She's a pretty well known actress on Broodway, name o' Grave West. I know Broodway isn't the cup o' tea of most of you so you might not know the name, but she's won the Moany award four times."
Gryff nodded proudly of one of his Broodway 'icons' achievements while Lin continued his story. Lin then pointed a claw at the other picture, one in black and white, in Kai's hand.
"That there is me Grimma. Goria Glitchson. She was pretty big in the silent boovies an' in Oddville."
Gryff nodded and pointed a claw at the picture with a smirk as if to silently proclaim "I know her!"
Lin continued, "Her biggest role was as Abnorma Deadsmond in Sunset Boolevard. She won the Oddscar for that role." Lin gave two claws up for that.
Kai passed the two photographs to the boo next to him so they could look and pass them around while Lin continued.
"Ye might say show biz runs in me mum's side of the family. She an' me Grimma wanted me to follow in their foot steps (hence why they were thrilled at first about that circus), but I tend to take more after me pop -- cept he likes to break things down more, an' I prefer to build `em up. Pop had a bit of a happenin' in a normie town several years ago. Caused quite a bit of chaos an' the normies didn't take too kindly to it. The ironic thing is, me mum was performin' in a theater not too far away from that town... think it was called Kingston Wails. Pop was runnin' from the usual pitchfork and torch mob an' ducked into the theater to hide, and that's here he met me mum. They courted for awhile, got used to each other's little glitches. Like pop's fascination with gadgets an' mom's show biz career (an' pop says Grimma)."
Nero snorted at the 'mother-in'claw joke reference.
"Anyway, even though mom still gets bookings, she decided it was time to settle down an' have a family. She an' dad moved to New Salem an' brought Grimma with `em. Dad works for a research an' testin' facility, an' mum teaches actin' classes. Grimma ... she cooks a lot an' makes crafts... an' reads Fangio goremance novels, I guess."
Lin kicked his feet idly and sighed.
"Anyboo, that's the story of the McGearloch family comin' to town."

Small thumping was heard around the bonfire and the boos froze in place instantly. That wasn't something....large was it? ..... No...it was just a rabbit, a very big rabbit.... The thumping continued as Kai started to look around, curious as to what the sound was. And what followed the sound was....sniffing? "Do I smell...martianmallows?" a familiar voice asked.

"Oh, hey, Felix!" Kai grinned as the Faun who lived in the woods behind the Merha Mansion came into the light of the bonfire. "Help yourself to some martianmallows and a stick."
Kai turned to Lin, who was clearly fidgeting while in the spotlight.
"Cool story, bro. I bet half the guys here didn't know you have celebriteeks in your fam. Felix!" Kai pointed a claw at the faun as he started toasting a martianmallow. "You're up next! Tell us a story."

Dashner wasn't a fan of bondfires, particularly because they always left him smelling like fresh cooked fried chicken from the normie fast food restaurant KFC. He only knew of such a restaurant because it was the first place that he went to in Uhh-Merica.
Dashner hadn't seen his bro Felix Faun in a... Quite frankly, long time. He sort of jumped up to give Felix a bro fist. "Felix! Bro! So glad you could make it."
He remained standing, opening a fresh container of Falconnie's not famous muffins (though, he thought they should have been). He held the container out to the other boo's.
"Want any? They're booberry and chocolate chip."
