Underneath the deck, the smell seemed stronger this time. Poke held her nose as she saw a pile of bones, some meat still attached to them. She grimaced at the sight; most of the time she had access to food, and if she couldn't get it, she could go and hunt something down. Scavenging was not something she had to resort to.
The chains were starting to spook her, so Ying headed back above deck with her little key. Her precious key.
There was a lock on the captain's door, and Ying knew what that meant. She thrust the key in its spot and waited. The boat groaned, water filling its inside. Ying scrambled, running into the captain's room, grabbing the first chest she saw and running.
A face flash in front of her mind, but Ying discarded it. He was long gone. "I am sorry," she whispered. "I promise to take good care of it." It seemed to appease the captain, and she was left on dry land. She cracked open the chest, only to find broken things and junk. It was a strange treasure, though Ying didn't think it valueless. Merely strange.
What wasn't strange was the familiar warmth of the goddesses' blessing. That was more like it.

Ah yes, the boat again. She remembered this part from last time and found the lever to the grate. But this time was slightly different; she found something to prop it open with, not quite trusting the damn thing to not trap her.
