The mortal mind cannot begin to fathom of beings infinitely greater than them. Even as they fall, they remain of a planar existence on a higher pedestal than the lower organisms that scour the plain trying desperately to ink out a legacy in the infinitely short span of time they have to muck about in the filth of the third plane. It is perhaps for this reason that the mighty goddess Kali found herself to be so frustrated. Her body had taken a mortal form as she walked among them, trying to understand how it was possible that Narathos and Kala were both gone, the strongest of the strong blasted out of creation through machinations of the very mortals that they believed themselves so far above. Her plan... it was so grand. Siphoning the power from Solonor after the anarchist and the liar brought true chaos to heaven itself. After the once mrotal girl Maria tore open the very gates of hell... more powerful mortals undoing millenia of work. It was all so very interesting to Kali, and in the end it proved that her viewpoint of these mortals was indeed flawed. They were not simply bottom feeders, to be used as pawns. No... they were knights and bishops. Perhaps that was why the other divine had chosen them.

A realization donned on Kali as she waded through Luhkan's landing, observing them making preparations for the coming storms. With the Sea Goddess... incapacitated for lack of better explanation the seas would rage out with nothing to control them but the moon, and Justor more than had his hands busy. The chaos made it so easy for Kali, for any of her level or even clsoe to it, to merely roam the plane. Vulnerable with her power restricted, her chosen path was careful but deliberate: she could still kill any of these mortals with a flick of her wrist. A beacon of power existed in this town below the sea, and she knew to whom it belonged. One who was responsible for the death of the God-King, a mortal whom had been on every rung of the ladder from god in his own to but a mere slave. He would prove to be the perfect prey. Amias Nicht, the lost but never mourned, the unloved. For Kali... this man was the scorned who would be her champion.

The woman pushed open the doors to the Bar, eyes scanning the room, seeing the energy of all being through obsidian black eyes framed by bright red hair that seemed too vibrant to exist. She ran her tongue over sharp fangs, pink muscle poking out over full blooded lips. What was she searching for? A portion of Malacai's power that had been bestowed upon the otherwise utterly mundane mortal. That was what had brought her here, and that was why she knew him worthy of her grand scheme. In mere moments a deep black, swirling power caught her attention, and the woman smiled evilly at the back of his head, ignoring the feeling that far too many eyes were tracing the curves her dress did nothing to hide. She was compelling by her very nature, and now was no exception. She walked with a sexy swagger and sat beside the man at the bar. The smell of alcohol was rank in the bar itself, but from her perception it wasn't eminating solely from him. She would give time for him to realize someone was beside him before speaking in a voice he would find familiar. "Amias Nicht. It is, indeed, wonderful to see you again," she would begin, punctuating with a devilish giggle. The bartender approached, and she turned to him with that piercing stare. "Allycat and a Tony Vegas for my friend. He looks like he could use something to pick him up," she offered before turning to him again, crossing her legs and observing how the man would respond to her visage. "Don't recognize an old friend, Amias? Come now, don't make me have to suck out what little energy you have to prove myself." the way she crawled over the last few words, making her voice drop low and sweet but also distort would be enough of a caller for him. Indeed, this was the once and forever Kali.

Unlike the usual mortal in his predicament, Amias was...steely and cool. Much to his displeasure, this wasn't nearly the first time he'd been stepped on by the world, so the initial impact had long since dulled. Frankly, given his emotional climate, the demon was more surprised to be approached by a goddess, given his current disposition against just about anything considered divine. Though, he had done her a sort of favor in the past...perhaps she was just coming to borrow his services again? It wouldn't surprise him. Honestly, she'd be the last person left on the planet to make him into a pawn; most everyone else had likely already done so. And so he sat there in silence for a moment, his eyes focused and glaring ahead at the bartender, the likes of which had frozen, gawking at the breathtaking woman who'd come up to his counter. For a while, the gruff man had nearly forgotten to fill her order, serving the cocktails as directed.

In one hand, Amias took the alleycat and drank. Honestly, fruity drinks weren't his style, but it was free and cold; to be honest, no one would pass that up. His supernatural constitution as a demon prevented him from being intoxicated, but the taste was interesting at the very least. "To be perfectly honest, I wasn't expecting a visitor at this time." He turned to face her, his words little more than mouthing by that point. What she would see in his eyes was a thirsting, a primal hunger that seemed to tear at him from within. It was something those milky golden eyes hadn't reflected to the world in quite some time. His personal epitome of desire and ambition, for all to see. "Especially not from any deities. After what happened with Raphael, I figured you'd all be steering clear of someone with my...disposition." Innocently worded, but the implications were clear; since his split with Raphael, Amias had discarded nearly all the gods as nothing more than soapboxing pen-pushers, all with their own annoying agendas and schemes. It was a big, ten-player game of chess where only the important ones got to play for prizes everyone deserved. No...there was definitely another reason Kali was here. She had other prerogatives.

"So...what would you like that made you seek out a washed-up old man like me?"

PostPosted: Wed Apr 19, 2017 2:07 am

A strange calm came over the entire room, for everyone besides Amias and Kali, whose eyes became orbs of pure obsidian with no features. His question, his tone, his demeanor was something she had already expected. Her smile was intact and the velvety voice that would snake free of her throat and wrap around his brain was very much intact. "Now why I am here is a question indeed, Amias." The way her lips squeezed around his name was clearly seductive, openly inviting. She placed a hand on her knee, still crossed over the opposite appendage, and the other curled around her chin, her face one that seemed to be glossing over his features as if regarding a diamond. "What brought me here was you. You're hunger for power, the ambition the world thought to snuff out is what made me come to you. See," she began standing and maneuvering behind him, expressing her power over energy itself to bring everything around them to a stop. She placed impossibly soft hands on the man's neck, leaning over to speak into his ear with her bust pressed against his back. "I too am one who was, historically, used by the very God who had created everything. I know, intimately, the emotion you feel. It's tearing you apart isn't it. Like a fire consuming every thought, lacing your every breath with contempt. I get it. You want to eat from the fine china like them, but you don't want their help. You want a piece... no you want the whole cake." She would move her hands to his shoulder, turning his chair so that she could face him with a flick of her wrist. "What if I told you that you could. What if you could join their ranks, take their power for your own and get more than just revenge on the ones who have for so long stepped on your head?"

For a moment, he considered what she'd said, her body language...the demon's initial instinct was to dismiss these things as little more than petty manipulations. It was undeniably interesting--however--to hear a god admit to having been used in the past. It was a surprisingly mortal thing for her to say. A level of stooping that most gods would never admit to. In that regard, the man felt he could credit her for at least that much. Though his dealings in the past had left him extraordinarily jaded when it came to the divine side of the planes...really, what did he have to lose now? "See...this all sounds like a dream come true. In days past, I would have accepted a scenario like this without any questioning or reservation. I'm sure you understand that the main reason why those men stepped on my head in the beginning was due more to my own naivety than anything else." As their dialogue had commenced, the demon had already finished off the alleycat and was quickly doing in the Tony Vegas. He was grateful for the drinks, but with the state the barkeep was in right now...the man doubted either one of them would be paying for anything they'd consumed today.

Something wasn't sitting well with him, and it wasn't the alcohol. "On the same note, I'm positive you understand that no creature offers power without expecting some form of compensation. A service to be performed. The last time I consorted with you, I was rewarded by Malacai from what I assume was a co-conspiring from the both of you. This time...your objectives aren't quite as clear. What do you have to gain from assisting me? What is it you're going to desire if I accept your gift? Obviously, I won't mind overly much if it concerns dethroning a few gods, but I'm no longer the sort of man to step into these arrangements uninformed." To be frank, Amias was quite done blindly stepping into deals with gods. For too long, the machinations of superior beings and of the divine had stripped him of chances that were rightfully his. If he weren't absolutely certain the deal would benefit him--permanently--the demon would no longer entertain these sorts of offers. For some reason, however...this seemed a little different from the other times.

Admittedly, he'd never worked with an entity quite like Kali, not this closely. Most of the other divine beings he'd consorted with were much more traditional gods. They had their principles, the ideals that their powers were based around, and they chose champions who aligned with their values. Kali was a little different. The mental and physical state Amias was in when he was approached suggested that Kali was after mortals in a very different state. Typical gods would prefer strong champions, warriors in their prime who stood above the rest, and could effectively wield their god's power to spread those ideals across Axiom.

This goddess took the weak, disparaged, and broken. She'd found Amias at his lowest point, perhaps even feeling that carnal hunger from dimensions away. Indeed, she'd spoken words that rung very true for him. Perhaps a goddess that relied on a mortal's situation instead of their morality could be something desirable? It was certainly different than the entities he'd consorted with before.

And from what he knew of Kali, she had absolutely no reason to like the gods, either. Perhaps this would turn into an interesting partnership? For now, the demon only waited for her response.

A grand rumbling came across the very ground suddenly. This was by no act of Kali, and it showed as she looked about the room. Her nostrils flared and she seemed to lose her smile. Time was growing short. Apparently, even in her incapacitated state Maria did not enjoy the thought of Kali walking about the plane she considered, wholly, her domain. But as rain began to fall, her attention came back to the chrysalis she saw before her. Her smile crawled back into place as the orange energy of her power began to well up around the two of them. He was coming around, beginning to see that she was, at least, genuine in her offer. The spear Malacai had given her appeared suddenly, answering a call Amias would not have realized it could even hear. "The toy my brother gave you is but a small portion of what I want to give you," she offered. She smiled as she touched his chest, allowing her power to pierce into his heart. Such a malevolent action would certainly feel awful to the touch, no? Well... not exactly. It would be more like something preying upon his own mental state, his unrelenting hunger something she could respect. He could feel more than his own energy, but that of everyone around him. Of the plane itself. What he was feeling was what it meant to be a Siphon.

"What I want from you is nothing so hard to swallow, my dear Amias." Her voice tangled, coiled around his mind as she spoke, showing him images of what she intended, better than she could speak it to him. The scene was one of pure destruction. Amias holding his spear, standing with his foot atop a man she didn't recognize, someone from his past. In his free hand, a tangle of red locks and elven features. Beside his foot, the still twitching body of a mer. Behind him, a demonic lizard with a hole bore into it's chest the size of a van. All around him raphael and his ilk on pikes. Kali herself stood nowhere in sight, but rather he could feel that it was his own power that had led him to bleeding all of those who had ever sought to wrong the two of them. She removed her finger, taking away the power itself as if she hadn't given it. "What I want from you, is for you to use my power to do what you have always sought to. I want you to rise Amias, to rise and tear them down. Those who would stand atop you with their prideful morals and their perfect stature. I want you to awaken, my love, and to never sleep again." The last words came with no uncertain intonation. She was being very direct.

No sooner than she'd mentioned Malacai's gift, it appeared at his side. No, perhaps it was there beforehand? To be frank, the demon hadn't even noticed its arrival. A toy, though? Sure, it wasn't as powerful as one of the god-given artifacts like his wings, but the spear was certainly not a weapon to look down upon. It was then that the tip of her nail just so slightly broke the skin on his chest, allowing her power to seep into him, if only for a few brief moments. The energy he felt...it was electric. It was all around him, flowing like an infinite current. It was at that point that he realized; it was the energy of Kali, of the other patrons of the bar...the energy of the world around him. And it felt so close. It felt so accessible, like he could just reach out and take it if he so pleased. The feeling was absolutely intoxicating. Is this what she offered to him? The ability to dethrone kings and gods with their own power?

It was at that point, her words started to become much more appealing. What little he knew of Kali had definitely painted her to be an unusual god. One who didn't follow the standard itinerary of heaven and hell, much like Malacai. Gods with agendas separate from the first and second plane--to him--were more trustworthy than any of the others, those would-be rulers sitting on their crumbling thrones. And so, the demon was interested in what the witch had to give him.

Then, abruptly, the power left him. Not a trace of it remained in his system, and that intoxicating feeling was gone just as soon as it had arrived. He ached for that feeling again, fleeting as it were. No...it was stronger than that. He CRAVED it. The taste she'd given him felt like an I.V. of power. It was so much...more. More than Raphael had ever allowed him, more than even his maximum potential as a Pagan, before monsters tore his kingdom to pieces. With a power like that...he could return to Val'Ghast...he could make a crater many times larger than the monsters who betrayed him. This was no longer an offer he could deny. Especially not if he wanted a real-life depiction of the wonderful future she'd shown him. Obviously, a large portion of any power he stole would likely go to Kali directly; they both had something to gain from this, for sure. It just meant he'd have to dethrone a lot more unfit rulers.

And so, with a wicked grin playing on his face, the demon spoke once more, taking her hand. "If you're going to wake this old man up, Kali...you'll need a helluva lot of coffee. But when I'm done...you're gonna need a bigger cup."

Sovengarde Awaits

Kali smiled down at Amias as a thunderbolt ripped into the sky. She pierced his chest once more,t his time her hand went through all the bone and muscel of his chest and grasped at his heart. "Well, allow me to start brewing," Kali whispered as her energy began to tear into his body with a cackle from her lips, one more malicious. She so enjoyed watching them writhe as their bodyw as changed, their very dna corrupted and switched to be more akin to what she was. A Siphon. He would be blinded, defeaned, likely lose all sensation. By the time he awakened, maybe a few seconds after she tore her hand free, leaving only phantom pain and newfound strength, she would be gone.

What would remain, however, was a fountain of energy he could now sense as clear as day above him. Maria's power trying to trap him, to keep her influence. If she only knew what he was now capable of.

Hear...Feel...Think...these thoughts drifted lazily in his mind as Amias received yet another hand in his chest. This time, the sensation was completely different, as though he were hooked up to an IV rather than a fleeting dose. She had taken his offer seriously, and though he was inept of his senses for a brief while, he could feel it. The energy surging within. His body felt as though it were caving in on itself, each molecule shaped anew in the image of his matron. But that was far from the end of it. Though he couldn't see it, his body toiled and writhed under the weight of this reconstructing energy; he found the pain difficult to describe. It wasn't...pain, per se, but something of a dull burn, as though a flame were dying. Though Amias had little time to ponder this pain, as it seemed to disappear as quickly as it came. For the short spell his senses yet betrayed him, Amias felt almost relieved. In that fleeting moment, he almost felt dead. It had never occurred to him how comforting such a feeling could be.

However, the time for rest was quickly coming to a close. In droves, his senses returned, bringing the world around him back into focus. The demon-turned-siphon then opened eyes anew, their once golden brown glow replaced with a vibrant, burning orange, if only temporarily. The energy of a Siphon pulsed and surged in his body, invigorating him in a way he'd never felt before. But within this new plethora of energy existed an abnormality. A craving, clawing at his insides. A craving that felt as though an all-consuming black hole were tearing at his insides, screaming for sustenance. A hunger he feared he'd never be able to sate. In that moment, Amias Nicht knew; it was time to fill the mug. It was time to overflow that mug, and fulfill the words he'd spoken to Kali in their final moments.

Before he grew too fixated on the idea, he yet felt another powerful energy around him. This one, he did recognize. It was the energy of Maria, the goddess who currently held dominion over the third plane. Without having the power of a god truly flowing through him, it seemed he wasn't apt to notice before, the power that smothered him. Almost instinctively, the hunger within him curled its gums, almost salivating at the delicious mass of energy before him. He didn't question it. Extending his palm, the Siphon began performing an act that seemed natural to him. It was his namesake, after all. Before long, this fountain of energy would begin reaching towards his palm almost longingly until it began to disappear under his flesh. The surge of power was unmistakable; the power of a god, absorbing the power of yet another. Maria's energy, as fluid and massive as the waters of the Great Ocean, flowed into his body as smoothly as a gentle creek. It was interesting; it seemed that he could now connect with the energy he absorbed as it came, having a brief moment to really 'feel' it before it became his.

He knew Kali had given him a glorious boon. And as such, Amias felt it was appropriate to start paying her back immediately. Without a moment's hesitation, he began feeding this energy into the hunger. As with most of the abilities he now had, inherent knowledge of this hunger within him had been seemingly implanted by Kali. The more he fed into the hunger, the more powerful she would become, slowly but surely. To begin with an offering of Maria's energy--one of her newly found enemies--was almost poetic. With his first offering complete, it appeared that his work in this space was complete. Standing up to leave, the Siphon bid their server farewell with a generous tip, and quickly departed.

How convenient it was, that exacting his vengeance would be precisely the kind of boost that Kali was looking for [Exit]
