Melvin just stared at Rep, completely surprised. "You don't know." He said, baffled that Rep, being observant as he was, hadn't guessed it. The man had already called him a clean freak who wanted to hide in his neat room. He was sure he guessed it already. Usually he'd smile at the idea of someone not knowing, but Rep at least noticed his behavior when it involved touching.

Now it just came to how much he wanted to say to get the point across. "It doesn't have to do with tits. Rin gets the same treatment. It's just something...to do with how I am. Rin knows why." It had been vital to explain the specifics to her to be in any way intimate.

He started to try and fix his messy hair as an excuse to look occupied with something. "I'm surprised you don't know." He thought the red-head did after calling him out on it.

"I don't know I guess." Rep said in affirmation. "I just always assumed it was me, and didn't like, grudge you that either. Back home no guy would want another guy near him. It was too ******** queer. But they'd let women hang all over them. I guessed it was the same thing sort of."

He raised a brow at the prospect of Rin getting the same treatment, he wasn't entirely sure how that could actually work. "How do you like..." he made a crude gesture with a looped thumb and forefinger and his opposing finger. "If you are get up and walk away all the time? I mean. I can sympathise..I guess? Like. I don't really like people touching me who aren't like. Trusted. Because of...s**t. s**t in the past really. And being British, and usually messy and awful."

He licked his lips and looked away awkwardly. "It's none of my business though."

Melvin continued to fix his hair, not exactly looking at Rep and feeling more embarrassed by the crude gestures. The conversation was touching on a very sensitive topic, past just basic personal issues that everyone shared in regards to sharing their actions under the covers. "I already told you I was okay with guys ages ago. I don't care if you are gay." As long as you didn't just have sex with two guys and wanted to give him a handshake, he was tolerant of Rep's lifestyle.

Running a hand through his hair, he breathed out. "It's hard to explain." It was embarrassing to admit such a thing. His eyes wandered to the broken door and some potatoes on the floor from when Melvin tried to throw the bucket as him.

"You have to be... like.....clean in a certain time-frame......for me to be okay." He gripped his hair a little as he looked away, feeling the warm creeping sensation of full on embarrassment about admitting something so weird about yourself.

Rep looked fairly enlightened as Melvin explained.

"Ooooh right." he nodded as if it was the most normal thing in the world. "I slept with a Japanese chick once who was all about that. Before and after sex there had to be showers. She liked to be clean. Didn't like ..fluids and whatever either." he shrugged. "Was her ******** loss. I like them."

He sounded almost relieved as he added. "So like, you mean you'd let me sit near you if I'd like... just wandered out of a shower? Wouldn't that be like. Soggy."

Melvin knew someone else like that and didn't give a s**t? That was strange to hear, but not unwelcomed.

As Rep worked through the specifics of what seemed a topic Rep had already dealt with from someone else, he shrugged. "I wouldn't want to get wet, but I wouldn't be pissed either." In fact, soapy water was fine with him. He liked it...a bit too much.

"Like, if someone just wanted to poke me, if they washed their hands.." He just gestured to the kitchen sink nearby. "..it would be fine." He reached into his jacket pocket to fish out the packet of hand wipes and the black gloves he usually wore. "It's why I have these. I just...don't want people to really focus too much on it and make a big deal. Not a lot of people are nice about it, so...don't mention it to other people." Even though Rep was sorta owed it.

Now that he thought about it, he worried that if a fight ever did come out, Rep would be able to throw that out there if Melvin ever did the same. "I mean, I hope you don't. I sorta didn't do the same for you." He put the wipes back into his pocket and started to try and put his gloves back on now that he took in that they were bare.

"I like showers. I like water in general. I take...sometimes a lot of showers in a day...depending." he waved a hand vaguely. "I'm usually cleaner than people give me credit for. You didn't get away with being a scadgy wee jake where I lived and I was a ******** like boggin wee kid till I realised that. It's just hard as s**t to stay clean here."

He shrugged. "Doesn't seem like a big deal to me man. Some people have their things. Everyone's different. The things I like would seem weird to the next guy too aswell. No one is normal."

"I don't tell people s**t about what's mine. They haven't earned it."

"I'm not saying your filthy, just don't take that sort of thing personally. It's just how it is." It was just something he dealt with since he started practicing those sort of habits after his run-in with that monster-bug-lady. It had made him feel better, and not it was just something he couldn't turn off.

"So yeah. That's it." He wasn't going to dive deeper into the topic if Rep was curious enough to press on how Rin and him danced the midnight tango.

Gloves now on, he felt better, but still awkward. He didn't know exactly what to do, and the crushed cake box was still sitting on the table. He just looked at it and then at Rep.

Rep was nosey but didn't pry. So when Melvin wanted to drop it, he let him without complaint.

"I feel a bit better I guess." Though not much, it wasn't a situation he could readily rectify, it wasn't like he could mysteriously pull out a shower every time he felt like being reassured and close.

He eyed the box himself. "I guess like, I should just try and clean up. I'm not going to make anything useful here today."

That was that. "Okay. I'll help put stuff away." He glanced at the broken door. "I'll take the heat for that." Rep didn't need more, and Melvin had been pretty good at destroying nothing since being a hunter. It probably would just be a small price to replace it, though maybe he could sneak into getting a new door without it coming out of his paycheck.

Melvin went to put the potatoes away, and set the cleaned ones in the fridge.

Rep wasn't actually sure how to clean, not that he would admit it. There was a reason his hoard was quite so hoard-y, as far as he was concerned there was beauty in chaos and there was masculinity in dirt and mess and somehow standing against it. But instinct said kitchens were meant to be clean.

He wandered to the skin and got a dishcloth, running it under the water vaguely before taking it to a flour covered worktop

The results were predictable.

"It's. Um. It's no comin off."

Melvin came back from the fridge to see Rep with a soggy white dishcloth and a wet, white, clumpy puddle. Walking over, he looked at it to figure out what it was. Kitchen cleanups were something he did often back at home as, after everyone else slaved away to actually make food, he payed them back by cleaning up.

"That's flour. It's going to do that. It clumps under hot water too. You should use cold or just lukewarm water and just keep rinsing the cloth out. Or you could get a bucket of water so that you don't have to keep walking over to the sink over and over again and just dunk the cloth in the bucket to rinse it." Melvin was, predictably, good at cleaning a array of messes.

Walking over, he put the crumpled cake box away and then went to sweep the rest of the mess from the floor.

Rep eyed the flour dismally before going to fill up a bucket and to try with only minor success to clean up the counter. He wasn't used to trying to scrub up mess and succeeded mostly in moving it around as he forgot to wring out the dishcloth.

"This s**t is hard man. Is there no easier way to make this s**t like go away?"

Melvin moved over to the sink, grabbed the dish washing liquid, walked over, and poured some on the mess. "If cleaning messes was easy, there wouldn't be a business with maids and dry cleaners." He put the dish washing liquid back and resumed sweeping.

"Anyways, it gives you time to just think and then in the end, feel productive from what you accomplished. It's calming." He always felt relaxed when he cleaned.

"No ******** wonder people hire people to do it." he said incredulously, scrubbing harder at the mess. The flour seemed like a much worse idea now that he had to clean it up. It was at least coming up off the table at this point without too much protest.

"I like making messes more." he said as he eyed the clean worktop and dunked the cloth in the bucket.

"It harder and takes longer to clean up messes to make them." He said distantly, either to himself or to Rep, it wasn't all that clear. He finished sweeping and set the broom aside.
