He could remember plenty of children he had to send to the orphanage before. It was an awful position to be in, but strangely enough, some of those kids didn't mind. Just as long as they were safe, as long as they no longer had to live with the person that ruined their life, anywhere was better. Officer Lawrence scratched his chin then sighed. Young kids were so stubborn. " Fine, but if I even suspect that you two aren't taking care of that child properly he'll be sent into foster care faster than you can blink." he warned and signed the paper. " No need to worry about him seeing you, little one," he said, moving closer to kneel beside Fredrich. " You're coming to live with me, and Detective Waltz here is going to be one side of your guardianship. The police just released you to us." Daniel looked up at Ellery, then to Fredrich. " Wait, I'm going to live with you too, Detective Freddy?"

In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Fredrich turned his head when Ellery walked in and slowly straightened up. Please tell him he was hearing things. He was really stuck taking care of a child? Did he have no say in this?! Was that damn songwriter going with his cursed momentum after what just happened? He could not take care of a child, his job made sure of that. There had been times when he hadn't seen his own home in weeks, and now he was expected to go there every day to make sure a child was safe? Even if Ellery took care of everything, his name was still there and permanently labeled him a guardian. If he were to do this for every victim he worked with then he might as well open his own orphanage! Fredrich took great precautions to keep himself calm, though his dark blue eyes held all the fury he held. " Well Ellery?" he asked in a dangerously calm tone, his eyes boring into his head at the surprise he didn't need. " Is this true?" Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................................................................

♵ ♶ ♷ ξllery Ѧdvimi ♷ ♶ ♵Ellery hook his head and reached out to take Daniel's tiny hand. " Not entirely. Detective Waltz isn't required to see you, since I have the heaviest side of your custody. That means you get to live with me. But, Detective Waltz is in charge of you in case something happens to me. It's like he's a just-in-case big brother, and I get to be your daddy for a little while." Daniel looked back up to Fredrich, large round eyes staring up at the much bigger man. " You don't have to come visit me if you don't wanna, Detective Freddy," he said, sadness flitting through his eyes. " I know you've gotta be busy, and I'm okay with just being with Ellie."

" No no, Daniel. The detective will be far too busy to be your daddy. He'll just be like... an uncle. But a far better one than that horrible Tom." " As long as he doesn't hurt me or my mommy or my new daddy, I'm okay," said Daniel, nodding his head firmly. The thin man took a deep breath, then looked to the door. " Now then, Detective, let's get back to the hospital to check on your dearest love. I have to introduce Lock to his temporary nephew anyway." Daniel looked up at the tall man again, pursing his lips. " Wait, but... that bushy officer said that you and Ellie are partners. I thought that meaned you..."

In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Bushy...? Fredrich looked off towards the doorway, finding it harder and harder to contain his anger by the minute. Et tu, Lawrence? Dammit, Ellery's ploy is going to drive me to the brink of insanity, the detective thought as he ran a gloved hand through his ink black hair. Whatever... Whatever, he didn't care what anyone thought. He knew what his feelings knew, and he knew who they belonged to. And right now that person was in the hospital for some reason. Why Han wouldn't tell him the reason, though, he wouldn't understand. " Ellery and I are partners like with cops." he explained to Daniel, surprised that the boy thought of it first like a romantic partnership whereas most children would think of the officer partnership first. " But right now I have to check on someone, as Ellery just said." He already began striding towards the car. After setting the boy in the backseat, the thin male settled into the driver's seat and started the car. " You know, you're not that good at covering your emotions." After saying that, he stared forward and began to drive towards the hospital.

Grabbing the taller man by the collar, the man pushed Fredrich against a wall and glared at him with wild, but frightened eyes. " You piece of SH_T! You were supposed to protect him!" Lock pulled him from the wall before slamming him back, the thick cords of muscles in his arms flexing from the exercise, and the restraint he was forcing himself to practice. " He can't protect himself, he's not strong, and you fed him to the GODD_MN WOLVES! I should kill you, Waltz!"

In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.The entire staff froze and helplessly watched Lock slam the stunned detective into the wall. Fredrich was quick to recover, though. He grit his teeth and, grabbed a fistful of Lock's shirt. With swift movements he had their positions switched and pinned the blonde to the wall via a fist against the chest. " Do you think I wanted this to happen?!" he spat. " I kept a watchful look on him! I stayed by his side whenever I could! I didn't just give him to the Surgeon with a bow on his head like he was some present!" He slammed Lock against the wall then let go of him, forcing himself to calm down. " Arguing will only waste time and put him in more danger." he sighed and pulled out the letter Ellery had written him. " Ellery managed to leave one last clue before his disappearance. The Surgeon is a man named Liam Grant. According to the records, he's a freshly transferred doctor at the local hospital. The last one to see him was Officer Cameron West, and that was last night, so he couldn't have gone too far." Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................................................................

Why else would Ellery say this about you?" he mumbled, setting it on the desk and reaching up to tuck his hair behind his ear. " Now then, this guy, have you checked his home, his office? There's got to be a clue as to where he i- wait. Did Ellery leave his necklace?"

Fredrich said with venom in his tone, leaned against the desk with only one arm propping him up. He watched the blonde list obvious places that were already checked and decided to watch him in amusement before hearing his question. With a faint nod, Fredrich put his hand into his pocket and pulled out the necklace. " Why do you need it?" he asked as he handed it to Lock. " This necklace was Ellery's life. He wouldn't just lose it. This was planted, and by him." Shining a light on the map, he adjusted it to fit the compass rose, then grinned. " And there's our second clue," he said softly, grinning as the blood pattern matched up with that of a scattered tree plot by the old downtown areas. " Ellery has memorized maps of this city. He knows these plots. He must be in this area. Waltz, grab your coat. You and I are going to go check this out."

In this world, one cannot say anything without proof to back them up.Around noon, Fredrich walked into the building with Ellery following behind him. Through his stoic expression, his dark blue eyes glinted with agitation. The person that was supposed to be tagging along rather than the wounded songwriter decided to stay where he was and fool around with his boyfriend. Typical idiotic Han. Fredrich stopped in front of a closed interview room, where an officer met him and handed him a file. The tall detective looked at the files given to him and nodded at them before handing them to Ellery, knowing full well he'd want to look. " The murder took place at the orphanage down 21st street. All the orphans were killed as well as one of the staff members, two others were wounded, but they managed to capture the killer. The killer, though..." He shook his head in disbelief then opened the door to where the killer waited. Sitting at the end of the table... was a little boy with an empty smile on his bloody face. Without proof, you'll never catch me. ................................................................................................
