Aoi blushed a little at Alexis' compliment. "I suppose I am, though I may not have been as much then, since I was only a child... And they were all grown men... and weren't letting me get away easily... It took my father and his men-in-arms to get me away from them..." she said almost mumbling. She knew that she'd not have gotten away on her own, not with how strong the shark men that had tried kidnapping her were. If she'd have never been grabbed then she may have been able to outsmart them, possibly, though she still wasn't sure. And she even explained this to Alexis, so that he wasn't in the dark about it all.{{ooc:}}

Alexis smiled faintly, shifting his shoulders slightly. "Just because you can't fight someone physically doesn't mean you can't beat them mentally, or if that doesn't work, get the attention of someone nearby that can do so or get help," he said with a small smile. He shifted around her and ducked beneath the warm water, surfacing after a few moments utterly unaware that it made his leanly muscular body seem to shine in the dim light.

"I probably could have tried... But everytime I tried to make any noise or do anything to signal anyone they hurt me... And I had a knife to my throat... They weren't going to be outsmarted that easily either, even though they were big, dumb brutes, for the most part." she said. Watching Alexis going underwater and then resurfacing she took notice to the fact that he looked like he was almost glowing. She knew of Bioluminescence in fish, though she was pretty sure that humans were not supposed to be glowing at all. "Uhm... Do humans... well... glow like that...?" she asked, knowing that she probably sounded really stupid. She was completely unaware that it was actually from the light shining down through the ceiling of the cavern that was reflecting off of his skin, thus causing it to lok as if he was glowing.{{ooc: I read over my post and edited something XD}}

Alexis blinked at her words before a small smile flickered over his lips. "No, but the light that does get into this cavern tends to be dim as it's origin is about ten feet into an old lava tube, hence the candles," he said with amusement. He knew if anyone else had heard that sort of question, they'd have found it remarkably stupid or clueless. He, however, found it cute.

When Aoi saw the smile flicker across Alexis' lips she was confused, until she heard his words. "Ah. All right. I'm glad you cleared that up... I almost thought you were really glowing." she said, laughing slightly, her face a pale, dusty rose color due to her embarrassment."Oh, I was wondering about if I'm staying for a while," she started off before pausing briefly, then adding, "I was curious about where I would be able to rest up when night falls?"{{ooc:}}

Alexis cocked his head. "You could take the hammock that I'm sure you probably noticed hanging not too far from where we initially surfaced... or I have an extra hammock, if necessary," he said with a shrug, not all that sure how to manage it since he had never had any visitors in nearly ten years. He was mildly amused when Bǎihé nudged her nose beneath the soapy soft washcloth and flicked it into the air where it landed on Aoi's shoulder and upper arm. If I didn't know better, I would have said that she's trying to get us together, though most humans don't know that much about dolphin mentality other than how they are with their own kind, so it could be possible, he thought. He wasn't sure why he didn't think of himself as human, though he'd never felt truly... himself... among other people; he had often felt more at home in the sea than with other people on land.

Aoi listened to Alexis and she thought about saying yes to using the Hammock, though she thought about it and was curious about where Alexis would be sleeping. that was until he entioned a second hammock. She wasn't really sure he even used them, though she wanted to be sure. "I could probably use one of them, though I would probably feel more comfortable in the water. We can figure something out once night falls." she said smiling softly and just at that very moment she felt a washcloth smack onto her shoulder, again. "Why did she do that...?" Aoi asked softly, not really meaning to have said it aloud. She thought about what had been said the first time that this had happened and a soft pink covered her face, as she looked sideways. 'This dolphin can't be trying to get us together... I don't... we don't know each other...' she thought, then gave a secondary thought, 'I am lonely, though this would be too much right now...'{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. "Fine with me, though honestly, I have no idea what she's doing... I would say she was trying to get us together, but that seems a little awkward on both our parts, since we've known each other for only a half day at most," he said with a sigh. He wasn't sure what Bǎihé was up to or why, and at the moment it didn't matter that much.

Nodding, Aoi said, "I do miss having company... though I just don't know about anything like that... yet. I mean, as you've said, we haven't even known each other for a day... And there aren't any promises that I'll be able to stay forever... If father does have someone after me I'll more than likely have to go home... If they catch up with me." she said, almost feeling bad about the bitter truth of if her father would still have someone looking for her and if they would by some chance find her.{{ooc:}}

Alexis sighed. "Trust me, I know the feeling, though I can only control my own actions and how I react to the actions of others and little more than that, so why should I worry about the future when it hasn't happened yet and the past can't be changed?" he said with amusement. He tilted his head slightly, a roguish half smile flickering at the corners of his lips.

"I suppose you're right... Though I should still be on the look out in case there is anyone out looking for me. I wouldn't want to be caught unawares..." Aoi said in reply. She did not know what they should do for the rest of the day, though playing with dolphins came to mind and she suggested this. It wasn't the only thing that they could do to pass the time and there were probably more important things that they could be doing, though she hadn't played with dolphins in the company of anyone for a long time and Aoi thought that perhaps Alexis may enjoy that just as she would.{{ooc:}}

Alexis winked one eye at Aoi, amused. "They'll find it hard enough to sneak up on us; the cavern is in such a location that if anyone tries to sneak up on it, we'll spot them before they do us, come on.. I'll show you something I found by accident a few days ago," he said with amusement as he stood in the water, not realizing how the water streamed over his slightly gleaming skin and lean muscular frame. He saw Bǎihé slide back into the water and disappear from immediate sight as he shifted out of the water before he stumbled and landed on his hands and knees where two of the candles had gone out. He looked at his left calf just below his knee where the water was steaming off and the skin was reddened visibly for an area roughly three times the width of a quarter and the height of the same. "Damn candles... forgot about that," he muttered, forgetting since he usually didn't really use the candles that they could burn him and in this case had done so.

Aoi gave a small grin as she heard that it would be very hard for anyone to sneak up on them and that in its own way gae relief to the mermaid. "That's good. I wouldn't want anyone catching me and dragging me back only to have who knows what kind of punishment. I may have been born into a family that had money to spare. Although they don't have it anymore, well not as much, because of the raids that I mentioned before. the one where those shark men were trying to kidnap me to do whatever they felt like..." she then added that she'd love to go see whatever Alexis wanted to show her because she thought that may help her to not think so much about getting caught, even though it had not happened in two years and that she could have some fun.
She was awaiting some direction as to where to go to when she heard Alexis muttering. It was then that she noticed that he had been burned by one of the candles. "Are you all right...?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.{{ooc:}}

Alexis stood slowly, wincing as he felt his leg aching more. "Just stumbled onto a couple of the candles, that's all," he said wryly as he jumped into the water, forgetting that he was going from extremely warm water to cool-lukewarm water. He surfaced almost immediately with a yelp of surprise that was downright comical in nature.

When Aoi heard that Alexis had stumbled on candles she wasn't sure to check if he really was all right and that he had not been burned badly. She had a habit of being too much when it was concerning the welfare of others, although she did not always put others before herself. But that was because of the fact that she had been living on her own for two years and having to watch her back at every trench, rock or open stretch of water she came across while traveling. "All right... I suppose that we can..." she started before watching Alexis jumping into the cooler water and letting out a yelp. She couldn't help but start giggling at him, though she tried her best to stop herself in case Alexis got upset with her, though it wasn't easy since it felt so good to laugh after not laughing much for so long. All while trying to stop laughing, thought it was almost useless to even try, she finished her sentence giggling, "I suppose we can go check out that place you found by accident?"{{ooc:}}
