M'arek shook his head and tightened his fists. This was just too easy. As the droids rose from the bowels of the assembly unit, M'arek took a deep breath and drew his lightsaber, holding it tightly in his left hand, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the weapon. There was something just so maddening about these droids being so easy to defeat. Somewhere in his mind, a rational M'arek commented that this was kind of the goal of training so hard. But another part of him decided that he would get these things out of the way and start to do some real training. He would have to find the most powerful droids, the most talented younglings. Padawans. Knights, if he had to. He wouldn't stop until he could best even the Grand Master of the Order. The droids pressed in on him, and M'arek didn't even bother thinking about the fight. He simply allowed himself to act.

M'arek only grazed one of the droids, due to his distraction with the future. Not a single one of them was able to come close to hitting him, though, and he survived to fight another moment. Everything was a whir of lights and flashes as M'arek skillfully parried and lashed out at each of the droids, losing himself in the battle, deciding that while the future was important, the moment was more pressing. If the Force guided his instincts and reactions, then it was most potent in the present, and his mind should be with it. His eyes tracked all four sabers without moving, and he waited for the flow of the battle to turn in his favor. He parried every attack that he couldn't duck or sai, waiting for all the sabers to be withdrawn at the same moment.

M'arek parried a blow coming from his left and performed a sai cartwheel over another attack, using his flawless aerial as an opportunity to slash at a droid's legs and to get out of the enclosing circle the droids were trying to form around him. He destroyed the shien droid at the knees, turning to face the three droids now all on the same side. Having all of your opponents so close together restricted their range of motion. Not only did they not have an opportunity to attack at full strength, they could not move to defend themselves without risking their partners lives. If M'arek was lucky at all, the droids might injure each other and save him the work.

M'arek's methodology actually worked a little too well. He couldn't get an attack into the mess due to the droids on the outside parrying his blows, and the droid in the center lashed out between them, its restricted range allowing him to easily defend himself, but it kept him at a distance. He'd have to remember this strategy for later. Three or even four jedi could defend each other while the center jedi could lash out into the fray. Perhaps a longer weapon in the center, for easier access past the shield wall. M'arek studied the droids' formation and looked for weaknesses, slapping aside the attacking droid's saber and searching for an opening, biding his time and lashing out randomly to keep them busy.

The opportunity presented itself when the droid on M'arek's right side, practicing niman, raised its saber to attack M'arek. Seizing this opportunity, the youngling slashed swiftly through the droid and took out the middle droid with the same stroke, because of its lack of focus on defense. M'arek laughed and prepared for battle with the remaining droid. M'arek sensed something was wrong, though. There was a subtle tinge of disturbance in the back of his mind, translating to a pull at his lightsaber in his body. What? M'arek was momentarily distracted, but forced himself to come back to the fight and press forward, the droid keeping a tight defense and redirected M'arek's attacks rather than parrying them directly. Forming a tight, defensive circle around itself, the droid was apparently settled in for the long haul.

M'arek and the droid disappeared into a whirling dervish dance of death. M'arek's blue saber issuing a staccato and multi-directional assault while the droid effortlessly formed a yellow sphere of defense, playing its defense extremely close to the chest. M'arek couldn't get that feeling out of his head. Something was very, very wrong. His heart began to quicken, and a slight film of sweat formed on his forehead. His palm began to sweat. He couldn't narrow down what this warning meant. What the hell!? The youngling had no choice but to press his assault. There was a slight variation in the hum of the sabers. M'arek swung again at the droid, and it redirected his attack. Suddenly, M'arek's saber hissed and fizzled out. Poodoo. This was a problem. Using the deactivated hilt to reinforce his fist, M'arek charged forward and aimed a hard punch at the droid's face.

M'arek failed to connect with the droid, cursing his lack of skill and following his fist as he staggered forward. The boy fell to the ground and rolled to his back, looking around himself for anything that can help him to defeat his opponent. Finding nothing, the youngling looked down at the useless piece of metal in his hand. Not useless... Looking back to the droid, which was advancing slowly, M'arek repositioned his grip on the lightsaber and took aim at his assailant, silhouetted against the sky. Please work? He flung the non-functional weapon at his opponent in an attempt to buy time.

M'arek watched the lightsaber arc through the air and lodge itself into the inner workings of the droid. Beyond all expectations, the lightsaber had done its job and taken out most of the droid's major functions. As it tried to move and extricate the contaminant, the hilt only further lodged in the mechanics of the poor thing. It clumsily fumbled for the obstruction, trying to free its mechanisms. Holy... "That worked?"The Mirialan boy was stunned. Everything just always seemed to work out for me... Regaining his ability to move, M'arek rolled forward to his feet and ran forward, planning to tackle the droid while it was disoriented.

M'arek's shoulder bruised as he crashed into the machine, and the boy lifted it off the ground, carrying it backward and knocking it down. The light left its eyes as the combat program terminated, and the boy rolled off the corpse, panting. Well, that was easy... He sat up as he watched smaller droids come to drag away the bodies, and made sure to pry his lightsaber out of the last assailant's chest. His breath hard coming, the child rested his hands on his knees and leaned forward. This was definitely a bit harder than he had experienced before. He could blame no one but himself; he'd set this regimen up himself.. It had certainly put him through his paces. ...Wait...

M'arek watched and could feel a profound sense of dread building up in front of him. How could he forget this? He'd set up three waves of droids... This last droid was meant to be the cherry on top. A master-class juyo droid. A droid capable of testing some members on the council. Of course, he didn't know that. He only knew that it was meant to be more of a challenge than what he'd fought before. The youngling was shaking. Whether from adrenaline or some primal, unformed sense of fear, he did not know. He steeled himself and his icy eyes watched as a monster rose from the arena. There was simply no other way to describe it. It was sized as all the other droids, but it stood with a slight hunch to its back, as if it were coiled to attack, like a beast ready to lunge. Its arms hung low by its sides, and two yellow lightsabers ignited, slightly angled away from its body, as if it couldn't be bothered to lift them. There was a hiss and several clicks as its arms broke in half, and two more golden lightsabers ignited.
M'arek stood, unarmed, in front of a monster, and everyone that had gathered around the arena stared agape at the hubris of the boy. Sure; everyone makes mistakes. But this was madness.

((At this point I am activating my talent; force scream. It is a small part of M'arek's background story, and it goes in line with M'arek's tendency for bottling his emotions rather than mastering them.
The technique as it stands at this point (in the beta) is as follows:
force scream Technique Family: (dark side) force Technique Type: offense/passive Technique Name: force scream Description: If a Dark Jedi or Sith Lord was being beaten and frustrated by his foe, he might let out an enraged scream (amplified through the Force) that triggered shock waves that rippled through the Force. This caused devastation to any that were unfortunate enough to be in close proximity. Like many dark side Force powers, it allowed the user to use powerful negative emotions as a weapon, albeit involuntarily in this case.
The Force scream had been called “a wave of hatred, amplified and fueled by the dark side, that is capable of smashing through mental and physical defenses with ease.” A number of references to Dark Jedi in Old Republic archives often mentioned the Dark Jedi violently losing control in the final moments of battle. standard combat roll, plus 1 per rank in alter, force scream, or 1000 points of [dark side minus light side] alignment. For every two attunement points spent on the technique, you gain +1 to your roll. deals half damage (rounded down) to biological objects, including people, animals, and pretty much any fluid-filled organism. If standing on a floating structure, the structure may be destroyed with a roll of 20 or higher (add five if the structure is heavily armored, like the platforms on Mustafar) If inside a building, size really does matter. Use your discretion (the players may come to an agreement; a mod may be called in to mediate) but a good policy is that a hut or regular room in a house takes 15, a large chamber or transparisteel window (spaceship glass) takes 20, an armored 'hut', room on a spaceship, or very large room (like the senate chamber) takes 25 and a large military hanger or an entire spaceship the size of the Millennium falcon, sealant, hull and all takes 30. A roll of 60 can destroy an entire star destroyer, shattering the glass, shaking apart the hull, and sending everyone inside into the void of space unless they are in a specially armored panic room or an escape pod. Keep in mind that that's a ridiculous number, and it's unlikely that anyone will ever reach that number. It's just there as an upper guide.
Should you be inside a building as it is destroyed, you get one round to respond, whether you are the screamer or the listener, you have an offense roll and a defense roll to combat the falling debris. An offense or defense roll with something explosive or similar --or just dodging in the case of defense-- (use your common sense) must exceed 20 to avert the entirety of the obstruction. Less than twenty, you suffer 1 point of stamina damage per point and are incapacitated for 1 round per two points you didn't meet quota. If trapped under rubble, you cannot be attacked, but neither can you attack. Once conscious again, you can attempt to move the rubble with a strength check or something similar if you have it. Common sense is the best factor here; all players involved will have the same rubble check.
Cost: all remaining attunement points Certain restrictions are in play here. Force scream is involuntary: you can scream just as you're dying you can scream if you are at -2 hit points or lower you can scream after making a kill after five rounds of close combat. you can scream if you lose an alignment check that brings you from the light side over to the dark side you can scream if you experience a powerful negative emotion, such as anger, loss, grief or shame
Training this ability is impossible in the conventional sense. You can't just sit down and study it. (force bellow is a similar skill that can be trained) but proficiency can be gained per use, and augments the power greatly. Due to the coincidental and single-fire nature of the power, sith marauders or just really unlucky dark jedi are the normal proficient users. Due to this inability to level, though, it has a relatively quick learning curve just because it's so impossible to get points. 4 ))
Due to his affinity, he can use the ability even if his alignment shifts from neutral to light side, and he can use either dark or light side energy to fuel it. It becomes an active technique, usable on demand, and the learning curve is cut in half, becoming
2/4/06/08/10/12/14 2/6/12/20/30/42/56
While this seems fast, it is actually slower than some other techniques, as if its curve was base 4, as you must rest between each cast.
I currently do not have a mod to review the technique; it is subject to change by vote or contest.))

(quad-wielding mechanics; each saber rolls independently for either offense or defense (you choose, 1O3D, 4D, 3O1D, et cetera), but only the highest roll counts. If you roll a +20 and a +5, only the +20 will count as a successful attack/defense. The bonus here is that you get more of a spread, so more of a chance to succeed. The detriment is that you only get 1/2 of your normal bonuses. (two sabers would give you 3/4) Negative modifiers are doubled (where dual wielding would 1.5*)

M'arek took a deep breath and felt a pressure building within him, clenching his fist and keeping his frozen eyes locked on the optical receptors of his opponent. This was one of the most complex and powerful droids in the arsenal of the training arena (at least the one M'arek had access to) but he'd be damned if he was going to let it make a fool of him. He was driven by singular purpose; to stand his ground. To defeat his opponent. To grow stronger, not for the sake of himself, but for the sake of others. He had to protect those that could not protect themselves. The child had no idea that this thinking was dangerously in line with a Sith Lord. He had no idea that a Knight in the crowd had flitted away to get a member of the Council or the Battlemaster to come stop this madness.
The droid crouched low and pointed its lightsabers forward, three at various diagonals, and one crossed across its chest for defense, the others pointed toward M'arek's heart.
Here it comes
M'arek charged forward as the droid lunged, lightsabers drawing back as it almost leaped at the boy, its claws widening to grip the stone floor.

M'arek slid along the ground as the droid leaped forward. The youngling passed underneath the monster, and was now at its exposed underbelly, with time to spare. The child sensed the danger mounting. That must be the second layer of the program.. On a periodic schedule, there would be more droids released into the arena to add to the hell that he found himself in. M'arek tried to coil himself up as his back slid against the smooth arena floor. With a sudden lunge, he extended his legs to try and hit the monster in the stomach. It was a risky maneuver --it involved getting really close to those lightsabers-- but it had to be done. He had an opening; he should take it.
The second droid raised its two blue lightsabers to point toward the youngling and it leaped forward to strike as the monster cleared the boy.

M'arek changed his mark at the last moment, redirecting his attack toward the wrist of the Monster as the Force guided his aim. The droid's wrist snapped back but its claws dropped its lightsaber, and M'arek reached out to grab it as he slid under the monster, it continuing and rolling as it passed. When it stood up again, it only had three arms; two on the right side and one on the left. M'arek spun with his new, yellow lightsaber and smacked the clumsy attack of the first droidling aside. He knew that more droids would keep coming until he cleared the all of the droids he'd programmed to come. But now he had a fighting chance. A fierce, icy intensity entered the boy's features as he steeled himself for the inevitable wave of attacks. Three assailants charged the boy now; one from the left, one from the right, and the Monster charged forward. M'arek almost laughed. Things had changed to favor him like he never imagined. The Force must really be on his side. As if the current of that undying power dragged him inexorably toward his ultimate goal.

As it happened, M'arek preformed a dervish dance of death shortly after the Master of the Order and the battlemaster appeared in the audience to try and stop the abusive destruction of a youngling. They had shown up in enough time to see the last few bouts, and both stood stoic as they watched the reactions of the child, sensing whether or not he needed them. While it sounded scary to let a youngling push themselves like this, they wanted to see whether it was hubris that drove him or not.
M'arek had to leap forward, narrowly avoiding two lightsabers below and two above, his robes being singed on his stomach and back as he darted his own blade forward, slashing left to right across the throats of all three assailants, rolling forward to press his feet against the Monster's chest, springing off its chest, as two wide slashes cut across the Monster's chest where the boy had been. He flipped a wide backflip, spinning in midair and landing on one knee as his lightsaber fizzled out. His left hand on the ground, his right hand holding the now useless hunk of metal back and behind him. He crouched motionless and his wintery stare was focused in front of him; facing the one that he did not know as the Master of the Order (he had only seen the Grandmaster thus far.)
Taking a deep, steadying breath, M'arek slowly stood, the heat from his charred clothes rippling around his body. As the boy rose, platforms opened around the border of the arena. Eight, in all. He rose at their level, and as he stood, tossing his lightsaber aside, he clenched his fists in front of his waist.
