Hunters and the hunted Alpha was not, for the most part, a person possessed of great magical skill. From what he recalled of his past the spear had been his chosen weapon and he on dabbled in enchantments. Now Alpha had the ability to use slightly more magic that that but it was difficult to control and he much preferred using his claws to fight when he had to. Fortunately even without magic navigating the sandstorm was not as difficult a task as it could have been. For it had been Beta who had summoned it and who had then created a stream of unaffected space through which Alpha had sprinted until he reached his unexpected ally. "Why?" he asked, confusion evident in his voice even as he offloaded his pink haired burden onto the back of Beta. Like himself Beta was a being of many types now. An Ayrala drakein had been her original form but limbs and organs from Hastar and Riistäjä amongst other things had been added to 'improve' her. " You no dying," the words were raspy and Beta was struggling to get them out, still there was strong emotion behind them. Much like how Alpha's body had tried to adapt to it's new blood in ways so had Beta's. However, Beta's body changed in ways that were not always beneficial or simply aesthetic. In fact some of the clearest memories Alpha had were of watching her slowly lose the ability to speak with the clarity and eloquence she had once possessed. She was still keen minded as ever simply unable to express what was going on in that scaled head of hers. It was why out of all the other experiments locked in their place of creation Alpha had freed only her. Alpha disliked the notion that he could not have handled himself against all who would face him. Still, something inside the young man would not argue with Beta when she had risked revealing herself to help him in return. There was more to be said between the pair but no time in which to do it, already the Magescans were beginning to fight against the sandstorm and would soon be in pursuit of them. If they were to survive this they would need to return to the labs and fight in less open and more familiar territory. Silently the freed duo trekked back to their former prison, in hopes that it would hold the key the true freedom. ~ In short order Marcus had returned to his normal form and briefed Aevah and Draco on what he had seen, then the three leaders had agreed that investigating was more important than carrying on the war for the moment. Tensions were still high though and it was clear that the transgressions that had brought so many to the battlefields lately would not be simply swept aside. It was a less than happy group, lead by that trio, that marched off after those who had run headlong into the storm and those that they had been chasing . Quote: [ Forward ho everyone! Some exciting things will be happening very soon ^-^. We will catch up to our mysterious kidnappers next update. P.S No one got a good look at Beta, although those who raced forward initially would have seen a basic wtf is that outline alongside alpha's.]

Kadryn followed the pack of other Orderites as they followed Aevah to the Dovaa camp. She could tell that they wanted to attack the Oblivionites that were also approaching, but Aevah managed to maintain control and keep battle from erupting. She also, to her amusement, saw quite a few Drakeins along the cliffs and hiding amid the dunes. Apparently an all out battle calls for spectators, she thought to herself.
Walking alongside Lazuli and Maslin, she listened with astonishment at the tale woven by Marcus. A single person caused this to happen? And how could anyone be made up of many parts stitched together, wouldn't they die in the process?
"This is so weird Maslin, I don't see how anybody can be... built or stitched together without dying. It seems.. impossible." She thought for a few minutes, it may be impossible and while she really didn't want to kill a person, she felt that something that killed as wantonly as this had needed to at least be captured if not killed.
"I''m gonna go with them to capture this ..person.. creature. Thing. It's better than staying here and sealing with the war," She said to Maslin as she looked at the other people gathered around. The last time she'd seen this many of all the races had been the festival, and this had a much different feel to it. It was no happy fun time that was for sure!
~~~~~~~~~ "We stay calm and listen, or watch in your case, is what we do, Araceli. After we have learned what is actually happening, we make a decision." Toki calmly replied to Araceli's question. He felt mildly interested as he heard mentions of a brief truce. So something could get them to work together after all! What had happened to cause this? Toki walked, with Araceli still on his back, towards where the leaders were gathered and listened in.
"Hmm, I say we follow and see what has caused this truce," Toki said softly to Araceli after the meeting had broken up and people headed back to their tents or after the 3 leaders into the desert. "I'm mainly curious and since now that I know there is no danger to my clan, I can spend time to satisfy my curiosity!"
Eanah had ventured off by herself after that, not even trusting her own people to watch her back at the moment. She considered riding Thren through the sand to try to catch up, but even though he had grown considerably and her own stature was... petite, to put it kindly, she didn't want to strain the drakein or divide his attention. She might need him to help her fight at any moment, and this was hardly the time to train him as a mount. Still, it was something to think about doing when they returned home.
She watched the strange creature they were chasing disappear into the swirling sand and as she turned to place a hand on Thren's neck, she caught sight of a pair of familiar faces. Kadryn and Maslin. She didn't try to catch their attention, but that was mostly because by seeing them, she realized just how deep into enemy camp she had strayed. It was time to retreat.
The passing moments had been irritating, grating on Kioda's nerves. Raking her claws through the sand the large Ysali Drakein took a deep breath. She could feel the tension building from a direction off to the side. She could hear screams from the distance, unless it required them dying Kioda didn't feel the need to run in and help them. She had met only one or two friendly Magesc two leggers the rest had been awful creatures. Her torn wings were proof of that. Rolling onto her side Kioda blinked up at the Drakein beside her.
Eyes shifting wide as they narrowed on the building sand storm. "Is that normal here? That red sand seems unnatural! Like some crazy dragon is creating a disaster. Or a mass of them." Shuddering at the quick approach Kioda's wings flipped over her head. Her tail tucking close to protect herself. She had never had to survive a sand storm of this magnitude. Thanking herself for being smart enough to train briefly on Ayr.
As the storm died down. The green Drakeins eyes fell on the transformed dragon. So the Dovaa creatures had done something against the monstrous. "Hmm how many do you think perished in that? I do hope they haven't ruined the orbs." Wiggling onto her back and pawing playfully in the air.
Araceli Ara stumbled a bit as Toki began to walk among the camp with her on his back. She hadn't expected to get a ride. Oh she'd have at least something a little interesting to tell her parents when this was all over. Ara bit her lip as she caught her balance and looked around. She watched as the leaders converged and a truce was essentially made. Tension was high and this was not what had been expected.
"Lets follow them." Ara said as she looked out into the desert and the newly shifted sand. "I am curious about what that creature was." Her fists clenched at her sides. Whatever he was, it seemed to be that he was what had caused the temporary truce. How could one being cause so much uproar? "Are you sure you want to go, though? I'm sure your clan is waiting for you." Araceli's voice held a bit of melancholy to it. Though she knew that he'd have to eventually leave her, she wasn't happy about it. She'd grown attached to Toki in such a short amount of time. Word Count: 184
Kilian Kilian's head shot over to the two drakiens as Uassae hissed in pain. Was something wrong with Erionda? He clenched his fists and took off in the direction he thought would be the right way. He knew that the two drakiens would be close behind him, eager to find Erionda as much as he was. His mind played through different scenarios about what could be going on wherever Erionda had been taken. He shook his head and tried to shove those darker thoughts to the back of his mind. He could not focus on those. He needed to focus on getting there and rescuing her.
It seemed like forever that Kilian ran through the desert. After a while, he thought that he had lost his way. As he was about to turn around he heard a squeak from Amadia. "Junjie! It's Junjie!" Amadia said aloud. Kiliain looked in the direction Amadia had took off in. He let out a deep sigh as the sight of a few familiar faces filled his vision. It was more than just Junjie too. "Junjie! Ekundayo!" Kilian yelled at the pair as he took off running after Amadia. There was another too. She seemed very familiar but it was hard to recall. "Tilawen?" He asked as he slowed his pace down the closer he got to the trio. If he was right, he'd only met the female once and she had been very nervous and awkward around him. Word Count: 243
Junjie was able to relaxed a bit only after Tilawen was out of the sand that had tried to engulf her as well, glad to see that she wasn't quite as deeply buried as he'd been. He gave her a smile before looked around there group, then in the direction that the creature had gone in with Erionda. He opened his mouth to answer Tilawent before he gave pause, starring at an odd sillohette in the distance, before he shook his head to make sure it was actually there and not just him seeing things. He couldn't quite tell what it was from here, his imagination rushing through all manner of possibilities, all of which he tried his best to stamp down. There was no reason to jump to conclusions about anything right now. Sure, some Dovaa could become dragons and some Drakein could become human but it didn't instantly mean that thing that took Rio could become a dragon or drakein just because he had pieces of them sewn on. No... it was likely something else... though what, he had no idea. Maybe just something passing by, a rocky out cropping that he mistook for something else because he was stressed out, it could be anything. If he assumed anything out loud about what it was he'd look a fool, that much he was certain of.
Lifting a hand to tug on one of the braids in his hair as he thought Junjie tried to thing on the question that Tilawen had asked of them, now what were they supposed to do? He gave a sighing sound and then a half shrug, "I... I don't know but we can't just give up, right? We need to try to catch up with them, figure out where they are going and where Erionda is. We can't let him..." He trailed off, they had no idea what he was going to do with her but he could only guess that it was bad. What if he wanted to make a meal of her? A terrifying notition and not one that he wanted to give another thought to, "I think that we need to follow, hope that if we keep going in that direction that we find another clue as to where they went." He said, lifting a the hand that wasn't holding his 'walking stick' to point toward where he'd seen the odd shadow. While it was very well possible that he'd just been seeing there what if he hadn't? What if that was the only clue that they had to go off of? He couldn't just ignore it, right? He hated to risk his friends going toward something that may or may not exist but since another of their friends might very well be in that direction... well, it was all they had to go off.
It really wasn't the best plan, was it? But at least it was something resembling a plan... man he hated having to pretend that he was in charge, the idea of leading people was frightening, but they had to do something, right? Standing around covered in sand was accomplishing little. He was about to turn to head in the direction he'd pointed when he heard a voice calling out his name, something that caused him to give pause, turn, and looked back the way that they had come... only to spot Kilian coming toward him with his Drakein, Amadia, as well as Uassae, Lanzecki, and... Abellio... he sighed a little seeing the Ysali Keindred rushing along with the others. He didn't want him coming along, didn't want him hurt, but given that Erionda's Drakein were coming he wasn't all that shocked that the little Ysali had come as well. He was unlikely to want to sit still when the other Drakein were allowed to go. He lifted a hand, motioning to him, and the cloak wearing Keindred rushed over to him, nuzzling against his hand.
"Jun! Jun! I missed you so much! Never leave me again!" Abellio crooned to him across their link, making it seem as though Junjie had been gone years instead of just a short time. Something that had the hybrid petting him that much more in an attempt to make him feel better aboug been left alone for 'so long' as the Keidred was making it out to be.
Once Junjie was done petting on the Ysali he looked around between those in the group... and found himself feeling a bit like the odd man out for a moment. Five Drakein, three with Oblivionite blood, and himself. It was a bit odd but he couldn't say that he really minded, not when he liked everyone here. He couldn't pick a better search group, "Hello, Kilian." He said, then looked in the direction we were going, "We are trying to track the thing that snatched up Erionda, I think he is in that direction." He said, "But... I'm not positive, so I understand if none of you want to follow me." He said, lifting a hand to scratch it against the back of his head in an embarrassed manner, "I don't want to make you all follow my lead when it's nothing more then a hunch." He'd feel bad leading them astray after all but it was the best that he could do at the moment given that the sand storm had wiped out any other potential leads like tracks. He would leave it up to everyone else if they followed after him he decided as he turned to start in the direction where he'd seen that odd shadow.
"Hello." Kilian mumbled as he came to a stop, breathing hard from running through the desert. He took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. He was completely surprised that he had managed to actually catch up with anyone. He was glad that Ekundayo was with them. Though they had just met, Eku and him shared a connection with a different race and he knew that he'd help him if he could. Junjie, too, would help rescue Erionda. She was his friend after all. Kilian didn't know if Tilawen knew Erionda or not. He just hoped that she would be of help.
Kilian looked up at Junjie as he talked. He gave a curt nod and followed after him. "There's not much else we can do. Better to stay together from here on out." He came up beside Junjie, Amadia trailing slightly behind him as they trudged through the sand. "I didn't get a look at what took her Junjie..." Kilian mumbled out. He was staring at the ground, gritting his teeth. "If I'd just been a bit sooner at getting to her house this morning we could have avoided all this mess!" He let a low growl form in his throat. They just had to find her. He'd never forgive himself if anything happened to her. Word Count: 219
Uassae had followed Kilian silently. A strong bond seemed to pull him towards the mountainside where Erionda was held captive. His mind no longer focused on any Rio’s friends. He and Lanzecki had both lost interest in anything other than reaching Erionda. Knowing that with friends they would have a better advantage. Ignoring the babbling around them both Drakein pushed forward after Alpha. Traveling ahead of everyone else that had been caught in the sand storm and followed behind the leaders. They had left long before, risking all they had to find her.
As the bond pulled them further along, both Drakein whimpered as their hind legs hurt in unison. “Rio!” Lanzecki growled. “Rio. Hurt.”
Uassae nodded his agreement, turning to the others hoping they were still with him. ”She’s in there, I can sense her in there. But...” He paused sniffing the salty air. ”She’s hurt and confused, we may have a hard time finding her in there.”
Erionda’s head throbbed painfully as conscious thoughts returned to her mind. Her side ached with every movement under her. Then, before she knew it she was lifted and thrust rather painfully against something cold. Cold wasn’t really the right word to explain it, but the closest thing physically she could register. She heard the grating sound of metal against metal. Her multi colored eyes slowly fluttered open. Aware that her body was now curled in a fetal position, pressed in on all sides by metal bars. Her soft pink hair fell through the bars like running water.
The smell around her assaulting her nose pained her. It took even longer for her eyes to adjust to the dark room. Sucking in her breath Erionda almost cried out. Body parts torn up, stretched out. Some had been sewn together with another. She could hear the muffled sound of other creatures moving. Cramped within their own metal confines. Tears pooled into her eyes as she desperately glanced about the room for any sign of life other than the creatures. It was useless to even hope for escape. Not only was she locked within a cage, but her cage was locked within another one. Tears spilled down as she bit her lower lip. Willing herself to be strong.
Pale violet and ice blue eye’s settled on a figure in the distance. A creature not far unlike the one she had faced. Another patchwork creation. “Am I... am I just another experiment? O-or Food?” Erionda voice rippled with increased panic, but remained soft and barely audible. Whimpering softly Erionda tried to reach forward. Feeling along the length of the metal bar in front of her. If there was any hint of a crack in the metal. Maybe, just maybe, she could use ice to widen the crack and find some form of escape. The metal felt smooth, without a single hint of give. Grinding her teeth Erionda gripped the bar as tight as she could. Willing her clan magic to encase the metal.
Wiggling herself into another position so her heels could connect with the metal, Erionda gave a swift kick. Useless. Pain rippled up the back of her leg ending at her knee. Cringing Rio curled back up and gave a quick thrust with both her legs. Nothing except more of the same pain. Her fists came down hard against the floor below her, clenched in frustration. There was no way she was going to be able to escape. Not unless someone else was able to help her.
Sounds in the distance forced the young female Hybrid to look up. Her hair spilling over her shoulders in a tangled mess. Her hood no longer covered her features. As the first shadows of humanoid figured entered her sight Erionda flinched. Was she going to be killed now? She was Obviously a hybrid, even worse. A hybrid mixed with with the patchwork creations. Trying to fight back the tears Rio shied away from the figures. Turning her head and curling up against the bars furthest away from view her hair creating a shield between her face and the shadows.
She was like a sitting egg, ready to be smashed or devoured. If only she could pass undetected. If only she hadn’t been stupid enough to plunge into a fight. If she had just left the fight to the stupid Dovaa, instead of jumping in to help the ungrateful ones. More tears spilled down her hidden cheeks. Uassae’s warm reassuring voice filled her mind.
Rio, I know you’re close I can feel you. Where are you?
Erionda flinched, was this a part of the life down here? Horrible nightmares, her hopes rising into delusions? She heard the whining yelp of a Drakein. Followed by more footsteps and voices. The sounds of sniffing grew closer to her. No, she wanted it all to go away!
“Here!” Lanzecki pointed with a wing up against the wall. “Kilian. Pick. Lock?”
Kilian’s mind raced with ideas about what he’d do once he found Erionda. there were so many things to tell her. For them to do. He was bound and determined, now more than ever, to break down her barriers. He wouldn’t lose her. He couldn’t. He was beginning to fully realize the feelings he had for her and while they were scary, he wouldn’t turn away from them. A part of him feared rejection, though. She wasn’t tainted by Oblivionite blood. She had goodness in her with both the Orderite side of her and the Dovaa side of her. So why would she want to be associated, in that way, with an Oblivionite?
He clenched his fists and cursed as the group ran through the desert, doing their best to catch up with the mysterious being that had interrupted things so terribly in the camp earlier. Kilian’s legs were beginning to cramp, not being use to running so much through the sand. His footing was terrible, his feet sinking into the soft sand as he ran, making it that much harder on his already aching muscles. Kilian’s thoughts and attention wasn't on the group or his sore muscles, though. He was solely focused on making it to Erionda.
“Look!” Amadia squeaked aloud as the view of the surrounding mountains became larger. Kilian slowed his run down and surveyed the surrounding area. His gaze finally falling onto what Amadia had seen first. Trees surrounded the mountain side and past them, Kilian saw an opening in the side of a mountain. “A cave?” He muttered. Could it be so easy to find the place? Kilian watched as Uassae and Lanzecki left the group behind and ran off into the mountain side. His eyes wandered around the surroundings, taking in everything. They widened at the sight of blood on the ground. His heart began to thud loudly in his chest. Was that Erionda’s blood?
Kilian shook his head, willing himself to ignore those thoughts. Surely the two drakeins would be able to find her. So he set off, following them into the opening. They seemed quicker than him, though, and soon he lost sight of them. “She’s got to be in here.” Kilian mumbled to himself as he stopped in his tracks. “Amadia...” He began as he looked around for his companion. “Try to sniff her out, please?” After losing sight of the two Drakeins it was the only thing he could think of doing. In here, the storm might not have been able to erase all traces of her and her kidnappers. He watched as Amadia shifted around the opening and then deeper into the cave like entrance. “She’s here. I smell her.” Amadia said as her head shot up and she looked deeper into the cave.
Kilian shot off deeper into the cave, not being able to stay still knowing Erionda was close. Amadia bounded off in front of him, leading the way on her scent alone. “Erionda!” He called out as he burst into a large room. His sockets widened at the sight before him and he felt sick. As an Oblivionite, he did not have a soul. To most Magescians, this meant that he had no feelings or that things like this did not affect him in the way it might others. However, at this very moment he could attest to that not being true. His stomach churned at the sight before him. Body parts littered the room, splatters of blood covered the walls and floors. And cages. Lots of cages lined the room’s walls. He felt sick at the thought of Erionda being in a place like this. His gaze searched the room and finally fell upon a dual cage with a figure curled up inside of it.
“Erionda...” Kilian whispered as he took in the condition of her prison. It was so small, she almost couldn’t move in it. She was unmoving too. Kilian’s heart flip flopped in his chest and felt like it dropped into his stomach. Were they too late? He rushed over to the cage and bent down. Kilian didn’t care about the rest of the group and where they were. He didn’t even care about the creature that had taken Erionda. The others could deal with it if it came into the room. For now, his attention was fully on Erionda. “Erionda...Erionda wake up. Please.” He pleaded with her as he made his way around the cage, looking for a way to free her.
“Ah.” A lock. A simple one at that too. He looked around for something to use to pick the locks when he heard Lanzecki’s voice and looked over. “Lanzecki...” Kilian looked at where he pointed with his wing. They weren’t the ideal tools to use but they’d work. “Yes, I can. Thanks.” He said as he grabbed the tools and crouched back down. Picking locks was a skill he had picked up when younger. One his master had been adamant he learn and one that Kilian had been adamant he wouldn’t.
Now, though, he was very glad his master had insisted on the lesson. He would be forever grateful to the old man. Kilian began working on the outer lock, making fast work of it. Soon, the lock fell to the ground and he swung the doors to the outer cage open. Cursing, he began fumbling with the second lock. He was so focused on what he was doing that he didn’t notice the voices coming from the tunnel. His hands were shaking and his jaws were beginning to hurt from him grinding his teeth together. The second lock took a little longer, his shaking hands making it hard for him to concentrate and get the picks into the right position. Finally, though, the clang the second lock made on the floor broke him out of the trance he’d gone into while picking it. “Rio!” He said on a whispered exclamation as he swung the second cage’s door open.
It took all that Kilian had not to grab her and drag her into his arms. “Erionda...” He reached his hand out tentatively, wondering if she’d let him touch her. He let out a deep breath as he gently pushed her hair out of her face. “Erionda, Rio...” He murmured as he fingers trailed down to check the pulse at her neck. “Please...” His voice cracked as he pleaded with her to respond to his voice. Junjie gave a bit of a sigh in relief when Kilian seemed to back him up, saying that there was not much else they could do but stick together, something that he liked the sound of. The group seemed to be fractured enough with some of them left behind in the camp, their group, and then Erionda all by herself somewhere up ahead of them. He glanced over at Kilian for a moment, then forward again, "I saw what took her and... I still don't know what to think of it. It was... strange, like... a patchwork doll of all of the various races put together in a manner like..." He had to think on it a moment then said, "Think a much less attractive version of how Eku seems to be put together." Both had stitches but the creature he'd seen, the way it was put together seemed so arbitrary where as Eku seemed to still be all Oblivionite and as though all of the pieces belonged exactly where they were.
The hybrid couldn't help but to wince a little when Kilian said that it could have all been avoided if he had just gotten to her house sooner. He knew that feeling all too well, as though this could have all been avoided if he were quicker to act, had done something, anything, to keep that creature from taking her. They were both taking blame for her capture, both seeming eager to catch up to her and the one that had taken her, and to get her back... though he had an inkling that the reason for Kilian wanting to get to her might be more then just someone wanting to save a friend from danger, a thought that he kept to himself, "We will find her." He said, determination showing in his voice as they continued along through the sands toward where he'd seen the shadow earlier. What they found though, it wasn't what he was expecting. Then again what were they supposed to suspect? The doors into the place, what looked like a gaping hole leading into the depths of Eowyn, caused a shiver to go up Junjie's spine. Underground... they had to go underground? The last time he'd gone into such a place, it had been fun, it had been an adventure, him and Tilawen going through a cropher's hole looking for treasure. This time the idea of going into that place gave him chills and he didn't quite know why. Likely because he knew what was waiting for them, that strange, man made hybrid.
As they headed inside he looked from side to side, taking in everything, the way that the long, dark tunnel led deep into the group, only to open up into a large cavern, one that had branching tunnels leaving it, and he found himself looking toward those for but a moment. The tunnels were far away whereas everything else the cavern held drew attention far more quickly, and made his stomach clench. It seemed that the one that took Erionda wasn't the only one, there were more of those strange, arbitrarily pieced together creatures, but unlike the one that took her they were caged, "This is... horrible." He murmured through the link to Abellio, not able to wrap his mind around the purposes of such a thing, save for someone or a group of someones just losing their minds. What else save for a lack of sanity would cause a person to do something like this? To experiment on not only beasts but others, all of the various groups, and try to forced them into being one creature instead of various separate factions. Not exactly the coming together of the various factions that one dreamed of that was for sure.
His eyes flickered from the caged creatures to where the various glass structures stood that held... who knew what growing inside of them, something that he took a couple steps toward before Abellio grabbed hold of his cloak, dragging him to a halt, "No, stay here Jun." He said, wanting to keep Jun with him, keep him away from that and keep him from looking to his side at the floor. The moment the Keindred thought about that, where he didn't want Junjie to look, and why he didn't want him looking there Junjie's gaze instantly turned in that direction. Something he wished he did do, his bright eyes went wide, one hand going to his mouth from surprise and shock as he realized what he was looking at. The sight of others like himself, Rio, and Tila, laying there dead, discarded as though they were no longer needed, it was enough to make him a bit ill. Hybrids, true ones, not dolls, all dead, it was something that had his heart clenching painfully before he jerked his head to the side, no longer wanting to look at what was a massacre of his kind. No, no... he needed to focus on something else, anything else he thought to himself, and spotted Kilian, where he was a short distance ahead, working on taking care of the locks that stood between him and Erionda.
It was as he looked at them that he found himself wanting to retreat... what if this was all a trap? To lure them all in here to get more bits and pieces for whatever or whoever was in charge of all of this? They really should go... hurrying ahead as quietly as he could he moved to kneel down next to Kilian and Erionda, feeling bad for interrupting their touching moment but really, "We should consider leaving, before they decide to turn us into... whatever they are creating down here." He said in a hushed whisper, not wanting for Rio or Tila to end up a part of that pile of dead hyrbids.
The trek across the desert had not been comfortable but the things Akilae had learned listening to people speak were more than worth the effort. However that strange hybrid was and who or whatever had made him was definitely something worth investigating. The rescue mission the were also on was an interesting one even if by all accounts it was an aiskala dovaa that needed rescuing. The hybrid man would have felt a little more urgency had she been Ysali but either way he had no problem lending what help he could.
Upon making his way into the cave system, somewhere in the middle of the group Akilae did his best to keep stock of what he was seeing, trying to count all of the laterns he passed under. If the tunnel got twisty or branched off in a maze like pattern he'd like to be able to navigate his way back to the surface. If nothing else it put the lessons on memory and focus that the order of the onyx had drilled into him to good use.
Once he'd entered the massive cavern that the tunnel opened into Akilae immediately frowned. What in the same of Soudana was this? There were signs of magic he didn't understand everywhere, cages creatures and beings of origins that were clearly not natural and a sprinkling of corpses on the floor. Corpses that all appeared to be hybrids if he was reading their features right. It made the young man shiver uncomfortably. He was not pleased with his own lack of pure blood but his mixed heritage offered him a unique chance to help the Oblivionite people and to earn forgiveness for the Ysali.
Akilae had a soft spot for other hybrids and to see others laying dead about him, with not the most basic care given for their bodies , it made bile rise in his throat. Swallowing the vile tasting acid the young man moved toward where he spotted a familiar figure. " Jun, why are you here?" The words came out a little raspy and filled with more than a little confusion. Jun did not seem the type to have been drawn out to the battlefields.
Green eye sparks glanced at the pink haired girl whom Jun, another and some drakein seemed focused on. She was the aiskala dovaa girl? She was clearly a Hybrid! If he had know that he would have tried to get to her faster. As it was he would offer to help but Ysali or not his healing skills were limited. Akilae was much better at inflicting wounds than fixing the damage of ones done to someone else.
Agniri
This was possibly the worst decision Agniri had ever made. The small keindred had trailed the magescans across the desert and to the mountains. She had wanted to see the weird hybrid they spoke of and had thought that with so many of them being warriors it would be safe enough. They had a new enemy to focus on and would not be concerned with an unusually small feral drakein in their mix.
Now though the small feathered firani was clawing at one of the strange glass structures and issuing soft distressed cries. Inside the magic marked glass was a shimmery light blue liquid and suspended inside the liquid was something small but undeniably alive and growing. This was wrong, so very very wrong and Agniri wanted to make it stop. This was not what magic was for!
Kadryn followed the large group across the desert and towards a cave, spotting an old acquaintance she hadn't seen in years, Killian. He looked real worried and anxious so she decided not to call out to him, but wondered what it was that had his so worried. She also saw quite a bit of hybrids about the place, perhaps the battle and chance at proving themselves equal to their pure blooded cousins had drawn them. She stayed with Maslin as they entered a cave, a quiver of excitement in her blood. So much tension in the air, would there be a battle soon?
The excitement fled once she saw the cages, bodies, and experiments. Rage began to fill her instead, how dare they cage and trap creatures and people to experiment on! A soft growl escaped and her hand grasped her mace. Who ever had doe this needed to be taught a lesson! She spotted a hybrid in a cage and saw Killian free her. Good, so that was over, not to seek out the perpetrators... Her eye's narrowed as she spotted a blood trail and she stalked along its trail, anger simmering and longing to bash tie heads in on the disgusting people who'd done this.
(Going to Meta Battle A!)
Toki smiled at Araceli's words, "They'll see me here and know that there's nothing to be worried about since I told them that I'd return quickly if we were in deed in danger." Cute child, she seemed to actually be sad that he would have to leave. "Besides, I too am curious as to what this creature is. I think my idea about Rhaze is wrong, he wouldn't kidnap a Magescian, he'd kill them. So know we need to find out how is really behind this" Toki stalked across the desert, making sure to not move too quickly and throw Araceli off. His wings were unfurled slightly, and pressed gently against Araceli to give her more stability. The group they were with soon came to a cave. He could smell the scents coming from it and didn't like them one bit. Death, pain, and strange flickers of magic: nothing good would come from this.
Once they had entered, he heard the gasps of disgust and shock and some growls of anger. The stench was stronger here, but what exactly was in here? "Describe to me what you see, Araceli, I know that there is death and some sort of magic in here, but that is all."
