Thomas was excited. The invite had maybe mentioned something about fantastical creatures. Ok, let's face it, he could have been reading that into the invite. Either way, he was really excited.
He was making notes about his excitement in his handy-dandy little notebook. What awaited them? He didn't know, but the anticipation was awesome.
Writing about how excited he was by the unknown was very absorbing. He was on that boat, but not really paying attention to what was going on around him.

"Yes." Mira breathed again, the sound rattling oddly in her throat. "She really is better than she gives herself credit for. Otherwise I wouldn't have commissioned her." She returned Bear's smile, lips spreading wide over her thin face, and then she spread her hands, bringing them back together with a resounding clap.
"Right, you lot," She went on cheerily, finally feeling the caffeine start to kick in, "Hope you don't mind my eavesdropping, but I've gathered your names, so we can skip the introductions -- Emilia and I are already acquainted, but you, fine sir, are Bear, and your partner Steve ought to see a nurse, I reckon, and you are Mister Harlan, or Mister Wimple if you prefer? Only one left is me, and I'm Mira Ruskin." She smiles broadly, holding out both of her hands. "If I had another pair of arms, I'd offer them to you."
The rapidfire speech came to a brief halt. Mira considered them all as if with new eyes. "Are we expecting any more gnomes?"
Guest Name: Mira Ruskin Guest Profession: Fantasy novelist on the hunt for new material. Her stint as a columnist in UFOs Unlimited is best left unmentioned. Group: Gnomes Physical Description: Mira stands close to six feet tall, dark skin stretched taut over wiry limbs, the whole of her built up with severe angles. She keeps a mess of curly reddish-brown hair forced into a braid or stuffed into a black beanie. Subsisting almost entirely on a diet of ramen and coffee, her dark eyes don't blink nearly as often as they should, and they seem much too wide for her face. She wears a pair of glasses broken at the bridge. Brief Character Profile: After her last failed attempt to get her novel published, Mira spent most of her days pouring over the sea of red ink that was her manuscript, trying to figure out what her book needed. Something fresh. Exciting. Marketable. Something with monsters. When the invitation to the Wonder Park arrived, Mira jumped at the chance to find some new inspiration. She'd even be willing to forget that they specifically referenced her credentials from The-Job-That-Must-Not-Be-Named. Your AIM & Minipet SN: vauntmure & Vethrfolnir

Tooly was impressed. A fantasy writer and a photographer!
"Man, this is some opportunity, right? It's like going to some sort of blind date convention; you don't have any idea who's coming, but at least we've all got something in common!" she said, tapping the dragon-ish logo of the ID. "What have you written, Mr. Altamirano? Can I call you Tony? Fraid I don't get a lot of time to read, but I'm always down for a good story."
She smile slyly up at Cora. "You know him. Is he any good?"

Lenny got a broad encouraging smile. "Find your centre and be the centre!" he said keenly. Humans were a lot more difficult to understand than animals he felt.
Louise got a grin. "Gems are fantastic aren't they?"
Ian gave Tain's hand a very eager shake with a clatter of bangles. "Pleasure to meet you little lady, you heard the man, I'm Ian Weiman, pet psychic extraordinaire."
Guest Name: Ian Weiman Guest Profession: Pet Psychic Physical Description: Tall, blond and lanky in a loose pink shirt that looks like a reject from a 70s glam rock band, left open to reveal a chest bristling with hair, over which is sprawled an absurd number of charm necklaces, gems, wardstone pendants and all other manner of knicknacks. On his wrists he wears what has to be hundreds of jangling gold, silver and what he assures are unobtainium bracelets and every dramatic wave of his hands is heralded by a clatter of metal. His hair is a halo of backcombed disaster and his eyes are remarkably pale blue. His mannerisms are reminiscent of a slightly mad parrot.

Giving Daniel E. Whorl Sr her rapt attention, Ariana was wide-eyed, a grin breaking out on her face. She picked at her guest pass, flipping it over, which made her grin grow even wider, and she tugged on her friend's arm.
"Thomas! Thomas! We're in the dragon group! Doesn't that sound so neat? Do you think we'll actually get to see dragons?"
Her gaze became distant as she began to imagine all the fantastic whimsical creatures they might come across. Oh, the stories she could write!

Emilia quickly shuts the book almost as fast as she's opened it. Her frizzy hair whips about as she looks around and then up at Mister Bear. "I.. No, I'm really not as good as you think.. or as she thinks. " Her voice is small as she mumbles, and plays with the large pencil hanging down from the sketchbook itself. "She is a really great novelist who commissioned me to draw a cover for one of her books. But I-I.. It really didn't come out well, no it didn't. "
Her arms squeezes the torn up sketch book and she holds in a breath. Hopefully there weren't any more gnomes arriving because she cannot handle any more company now. Her already embarrassing look and plain attire is causing this reclusive little monkey to shake softly.
Either that or it's because she remember that she's on a boat and is beginning to turn green again. Maybe Mr. Wimple might get that trouble with vomit after all.
Hurriedly her hand moves up to stop herself from letting all the food she didn't eat out of her stomach.

Steve looked up at the man & gave a little sigh "There will be no need to press any chargers sir." Leaning a little more into Bear. " Well at least for me there is no need but you may want to watch out for this young lady." He points to the lady that seems just as sick as he his. He gives a little laugh at comment about water being everywhere and turns to talk to his friend. He gave a sigh and rolled his eyes and whispered to Bear "Well I guess the at risk part counts us out then huh?" "and yes I took my pills, just not helping that much at the moment." He gives a look around at the other 2 people standing with them " Aww our group." Steve looked at the mans shiny loafers and gave a quite laugh as his toupee shifted slightly. He rummaged through his pockets for a few seconds and pulled out a rubber band, "Here Emilia right? this might help with the hair thing." He took a deep breath and gave a slight smile " at least help keep it out of your face when you vomit on Mr. lawyer mans shoes" he whispered. Out of nowhere came another young lady's voice, saying something about the best gnomes." I'll be okay hopefully in few Mira, no need to see a nurse but thank you for your concern." Sticking out his own hand to give hers a little shake. "So we have a lawyer, a cartoonist, a bear and me, so what's your job Mira?"

"Hmm?" Thomas looked at Ariana as he flipped his notebook closed. "Are we?" Thomas looked down at his own badge, turning it over. "So we are." His grin nearly matched hers.
"It would be marvelous if we did," he nodded. He didn't entirely believe in dragons as they were in the stories of magic, but he kept an open mind and quite truthfully would love to see one. Or anything similar.
"It seems like," he glanced at their surroundings, "this is going to be quite the adventure." How could it not be.

He accepted her compliment! Without getting up and walking away from her!
This had never happened to her before. She'd never carried on a conversation with anyone for this long...especially not an attractive older gentlemen such as this one. Usually after she smelled them they got all weird like she had done something wrong. But it was perfectly natural, and normal. She never could figure out why so many didn't see it as such. And he smelled so goooood. Was this what men were supposed to smell like? Was it like that guy in the shower and with the tickets that turned into diamonds that was on a horse said? The man a man should smell like.
Sigh.
But no, this was not some online RPG forum where she would fall for the first man she laid near-sighted eyes on. She was a professional in her own right, even if she might not appear as such (for the record, she actually believed she looked totally professional).
"But certainly not the kind of magic that he believes in." She pressed, leaning towards Algie, her hands resting on her lap. Wait a minute, magic and mythology and fiction?? Woah woah woah, back the boat back up to shore! Lydia very hurriedly pushed herself back away from him again, and crinkled up her nose. "Daniel E. Whorl. Senior. That man over there." She pointed to him. Perhaps most would have called him Mr.Whorl, but not Lydia.
"And I." She continued on. "Am a cryptozoologist. I have seen things that most could only dream of, and magic had nothing to do with any of it." She insisted.
Nevermind the fact that she had only "seen" these things when she wasn't wearing her glasses. Which was always.
"You see these?" She held up her arm, displaying the bracelet that adorned her wrist. "Claws of the highly elusive Chupacabra. And this!" She pointed to the leather thong necklace around her neck, "The claw of a Thylacine! A LIVING THYLACINE."

Guest Name: Lydia Stiles Guest Profession:Crazy person Cryptozoologist Descript: Smalle, willowy, lots of fly away, frizzy light brown hair that is tied back in a very messy ponytail. She is wearing this t-shirt, short torn off and worn out jeans, hiking boots, and is carrying a tan canvas bag which is filled with who knows what (definitely a ziplock of boogers). She appears to be in her mid to late thirties.

"Oh!" Algie actually turned a bit red from embarassment. Why hadn't he realized she meant their host? She must be friends with him! "He and I actually aren't... He's just Mr. Whorl me" Algie felt the need to quickly cover his foible.
As Lydia explained her profession, the older man seemed to only become more attentive. He was genuinely interested in hearing about her field. "Tell me about what you've seen," He said with a firm nod, his still partly open book now snapping shut in with finality. "Now you say no magic.. what do you mean? Evolution? Mutation?"
He was nodding her on with enthusiasm. Then seemed almost playful in awkwardly academic sort of way,"Do you have photos?"

Guest Name: Algie Mixlin Guest Profession: Comic Writer - Lecturer - Professor Group: Mermaid Physical Description: Fifties, salt and pepper neatly cut hair, he's a sort of tired-scruffy version of handsome. He dresses like a typical english professor type... sweaters, button up shirts, scarves, etc. Brief Character Profile: Algie become known for writing what are now known as 'classic' comics. Edgy politically fueled hero stories which changed the way many looked at the hero complex. He was never fond of the spotlight (not like theres much in comics) and has continued to live, almost hermit like, in a small village that is his home town. He doesn't write many comics anymore (a few small things here and there), instead often guest lectures at universities and teaches writing. He rarely makes appearances or signings and has denied connection to any movies or shows made of his works. (( Think Alan Moore-esque))
“If they have what they say they do, I’ll sure appreciate it. Being one of the first to get some decent publishable photographs is going to be awesome. And while alligators aren’t exactly the scariest creatures I’ve had my fair share of close encounters. One took the lens right off my camera a few years back, I’m likely it wasn’t my head at the time. I have a few good scars on my side, from a buffalo, them are some mean creatures when they want to be. I just got a little too close. They are a little low to show in public though.” She glanced at her right side. “Worst, I lost a 3 thousand dollar Camera that day.”
She heard a moment of others talking about dragons and groups. "Hey you two we are dragons too. Come on over. I've got my camera out and ready." she waved over some more members of their assigned group.

This whole trip was going to be amazing for her creative juices. They were just going to spew from this whole excursion, Gwendolyn could tell. It was like that sabbatical her friend had taken a few months ago in India. The things that girl had produced had been off the charts, so the fact that she'd scored this amazing gig would just blow the whole world's mind. She would totally win all the awards. Her future would undoubtedly be set in stone after this one trip. Ah-mazing. With a few clicks of her camera-phone at the boat (the water, the deck, a selfie for good measure), the twenty-something wandered around a few moments. At least until she heard the fated words pet psychic. "Wow! Are you really a pet psychic? Because I have this chihuahua, his name is Thermopolis, and he's been like... Really kind of wiggy lately." A hand motion that cut through the air punctuated the sentence before she flashed the blond man a picture, courtesy of her phone, of the pet.
"Also, hi everyone. I'm Gwendolyn Diamond. Props, costume, that kind of thing." One hand shot out to whoever was closest, straight and waiting to be shook. Introductions: Nailed it.

She was brought out of her reverie when a voice called out to them, and she beamed at the women. "Oh! Are you dragon mates too? Hello!" Her eyes stayed glued on the camera, and she looked up, staring at the other women with eyes wide. "Have you taken pictures? Have you seen anything yet?!" Too eager to wait for Thomas to respond, she ended up... dragging him over too. "Adventure ho!" she cried, pumping a fist.

The chance to meet more members of their group? Yes, please. "Hello, hello!" He grinned at everyone.
