*The blonde business woman was typing up the letter. Ryder liked things straight forward, no frills just the facts. So writing to her about what was going on after the meeting, it was going to be simple. The only thing that had to be moved around was code names and to keep it cryptic, just in case of to letter getting received by someone else.

My little one,

I am forwarding a request from to meet with you on the days most fitting the occasion. Something dire has come abou

*It was soon that Colleen was interrupted. Seemingly, Sami was a little more surprised to see her as she was to see Sam, even though they were both calm on the outside. Being who one is in the Noe you learn how to read people but that doesn't mean you learn their secrets. Just if you can trust them or not.
Sami was one that Colleen would be more willing to trust then others...and she brought coffee. Oh, sweet coffee. It was just what she needed right now after dealing with what Jezebel had sent her to go take care of. The good Doctor or Shelby may not like how it was removed but it was still was no where near her or the base now.*
Colleen - Oh Sami. Please come in, have a seat. I am just finishing up here.
*It was then the 4th in command finished the letter and sent it off so she could give the other Noe Elite her complete attention. Turning her chair toward the direction where Sami and the coffee were stationed after the okay to sit down was given. Smiling lightly, the older female and started talking...something was bothering Sami. Colleen was just that way to know it.*
Colleen - With how you came in, I am guessing there is something on your mind, hm?

One by one the targets fell at the shooting range. Not one was a miss and they all were nothing but headshots. James was beyond pissed, and just couldn't believe that this crap was happening. Hadn't that damned woman tormented him enough. She already took away his old squad and now was aiming to take out all those close to him. Every time he got really riled up thinking about it, he simply took a deep breath and fired his rifle. He needed to stay calm. His plan backfired in his own face and now he had to live with it. Just meant that now he had to go on three times the amount of missions, for him, Sami and Russel. In his mind Russell's blood was on his hands and he now needed to repay the favor to the Kepi. But his needs to get some information from either Glyphis or Copperhead about the sniper that shot Russell, he would be the first to die. He then got out his knife and carved a 'R' into his left forearm armor right next to a S, J, D, M, and T. The were the initials of his falling squad and this was his way of reminding himself why his fought so hard.

With Colleen's permission, Sami moved closer and sat down, holding out the coffee once the woman was finished with her work.
"I hope it's okay. I didn't know how you take it But, I can go get some sugar or cream if you need it."
The young assassin offered a smile as she offered, but it soon disappeared when Colleen asked her question.
"Oh! Nothing really. I just... Wanted to know if there was anything I could do to help... I am the one who got us in this mess.."
Sami looked away as she spoke. She truly felt like Russles' death was her fault because she was the link the Kepi had targeted. Although, the reason she gave was only one of the two reasons she had walked in, but how could she ask about the files? Her mother? So many questions swam through her mind and she just didn't know how to ask.

*At first the blonde haired woman was in good manner. She joked about a lot of things and one of them being what she would eat. Thus far there was not one thing she had come across that she wouldn't at least try.*
Colleen - I drink it in a number of manners my dear. Black is nothing new to me.
*It was then Sami's demeanor had crumbled. Taking a sip of the coffee the blonde set the mug on her lap as she held it with both hands. This was not the girl's fault. There was no way they could have for seen this. Especially not happening this way. The Kepi won this round...not it was time to make sure they wouldn't win this war. Sami had to stay focused...*
Colleen - Honey, you could have never known this was going to happen. Remember this is almost like a violent game of chess...you have to predict what you think your opponent will do next and do your best not to fall into their trap...
*What happened today would shake some but Colleen was used to it with a lot of her dealing she had back on the surface but it had all caused her to go under ground. After all her old boss had a hit out on her and it wasn't wise to leave the the Union HQ. Luckily, her old boss never had her real name so she could use it freely down here. She was a for hire 'business woman'...*
Colleen - We just didn't do a good enough job of that this time. A mix of stubbornness and blindness turned into predictability...and they were one move ahead of us. There was nothing you could have done. What we have to do now is make sure they don't shake our moral anymore then they have...otherwise we will have problems.

*Naiiko agreed to come to the Training Hall once she got herself together. The ninja returned to her quarters and gathered up her weapons and gear. Before she left, she stopped and looked at a picture that was pinned to her wall. It was an old photograph of her and a red-haired girl. Karin Inari and herself were both six years old when this picture was taken. The sudden loss of life that the group witnessed today hit close to home for the ninja. When she arrived to the Union on the night of Karin's death, she promised her best friend that she would continue the fight in her place and win the war at any cost. Above all else, that was a promise she couldn't afford to break*

*Gently stroking the old picture, Naiiko silently spoke to it*

"Don't worry. We haven't lost this battle yet."

*She then left out and arrived at the Training Hall. Fatal was already here, so she gave him a slight bow*

"Sorry for getting here so late. So what kind of training did you have in mind?"
------------

"Wow. Perfect accuracy as always, Mr. James."

*William had arrived at the Shooting Range after stopping in his room to gather the rest of his weapons. He walked in as James blasted away the targets with perfect headshots. While William was no slouch with his pistols, there was clear gap in the level of skill between him and James. But he didn't let that bother him. James' abilities as marksmen only fueled William's desire to get better and perform better*

*He set up a couple booths away from him and started blasting targets with his pistols. He didn't aim for just headshots, but he took any shot that he had. Being a dual-wielder with guns meant you had twice the firepower, but less accuracy. However, William's skills were enabling him to make shots with little time to think on them. These shots may not have been headshots, but they were kill shots nonetheless*

*While he was setting up another round, he saw James was carving something into his right shoulder. He never noticed it before, there was an assortment of letters there as well*

"Those letters, Mr. James. What exactly are they?"

In terms of training, Fatal preferred higher-tech rooms. They allowed one to set parameters and that allowed for flexible training. While the Noe didn't have that, Fatal managed. He found the change-of-pace in the Noe training rooms welcoming. It gave Fatal more chances to bond with people he wouldn't practice with otherwise.

Naiiko asked him a question. Pondering for only a moment, Fatal unsheathed his preposterously-sized katana. Pointing to a dummy that looked like a metallic titan, he spoke.

"It requires five slashes from my sword to sever that training dummy in half. My cuts are perfectly in sync with each other. I ensure the dummy will fall when I attack it."

An insufferably quick slash cut the large dummy on the side--right at the abdomen. Fatal appeared to exert little effort with his attack. That same demonstration four more times didn't seem capable of cutting the dummy in half.

"Please alternate slashes with me, Miss Naiiko. It is your turn. I want to see your skill and power. Have no worries; this is not a judging trial. I merely want to see how you approach this challenge."

Fatal stepped back, insisting Naiiko practice now. Most soldiers complained to Fatal of this particular dummy's persistence. They never believed it could be cut in half without seeing it for themselves. While Fatal didn't mind showing off occasionally, he wished for better company. He cursed himself for not being better company, himself.

"I practice this way for honing strong slashes. My blade need not only cut flesh. Ask questions if you have them, Miss Naiiko. If not, I insist you take your turn."

*The ninja stood back and watched her comrade attack the training dummy with great speed and precision. His katana was at a length that she would deem unfit to be wielded, but he seemed to make due despite its size. After attacking the dummy, he wanted trade off attacks with her to observe how she would go about attacking when fighting in the field. She brushed a strand of pink hair from her eyes and stepped forward*

"Understood."

*She lowered her stance and positioned herself, a steady hand reaching for the sword on her back. Once she gripped the hilt, she suddenly dashed forward and lunged for the metal titan. Her blade was quickly freed from its sheathe and swiped at the dummy's left side, creating a slash that was similar to Fatal's cut. Once her sword had cut into the training dummy, she stopped and pulled it out before sheathing it once more*

"How was that?"

Fatal did not need to observe the slash in detail. His eyes were incredibly perceptive. What he really needed to watch was the style of Naiiko's technique and to see if she was really trying. Ninjas had a naturally deceptive way about them. Something about Naiiko did not bode that same feeling. Even so, Fatal decided not to completely unarm himself around her.

"Impressive. The most difficult enemies I've confronted have been quick. Speed decides which one of us lives and which one of us dies. My sword hand is seasoned to overwhelm all foes that cross me. Skill is only one truth of the world, however."

Shifting into a real stance, Fatal used a heightened force on his next slash. When his katana hit the dummy, the dummy's foundation shook bizarrely for a moment. Compared to his first slash, this slash shook mountains. It looked like Fatal could've cut the dummy in two hits if he had used that same momentum the first time.

Stepping back, Fatal insisted Naiiko go again. The dummy could contradictionally fall in one more slash if Naiiko did it right. But it would take more than precision and speed to accomplish that feat. Fatal attacked the dummy at a spot just below the torso. That meant Naiiko needed to know what spot to attack to sever the dummy without needing to exert unnecessary effort. It was intelligence and calculation, as well as the obvious factor of how much energy Naiiko intended to use now.

"If you would, Miss Naiiko."

*Naiiko took a step back while Fatal explained more of his rhetoric to her. The shinobi could agree with him on a few points. She was trained to be able to take out her enemies once her sword was drawn. Every attack counted, and once you cut your opponent you had to make sure that you took their life as well. Soldiers who have completely given themselves to the cause that their fighting for will continue to fight even if they lose an arm or a leg. That type of mercy wasn't allowed on the battlefield. She knew that perfectly*

*Fatal stepped forward and attacked the dummy with much more force than before. The cut that was placed just below the torso caused the target to creak and moan; Its stability being taken with that attack. One more would cause it topple over. Fatal gave her a cue and she took it. Shifting her stance to one that allow more power into her strike, she dashed forward and drew her sword with a quickness. Analyzing the giant's crumbling foundation, she deducted where her strike should be placed next*

If I cleave off its right leg, it won't be able to support itself with the deep wound on its torso!

*In a matter of seconds, she brought the sword up and sliced right through the leg she targeted. Just as she predicted, the metal titan fell forward and landed on the ground with a hard thud. She sheathed her blade looked at her comrade for his approval*

Although Shelby was still a bit rattled by the events of the meeting, there were no indication of such things in her outward appearance. She had sympathy for Ryder, it was unfair to ask so much of her at such a young age. All she could do was hope that in the long run she'll be alright. Missteps and setbacks such as these were always unfortunate. There was a general sense of unease on base, probably because of the forced time off. The good psychiatrist doubted anyone would seek her out to talk, such was the way of things. Shelby thought it a pity, since now was as good a time as any.

The doctor had left the meeting room some time ago and wandered aimlessly for a little while, allowing all her thoughts to process. Before she realized it, she found herself at the shooting range. How long had she been walking around? Shelby often enjoyed contemplating the series of waterfalls as she walked from one complex to another and she honestly had no memory of this. Now she was beginning to get a little creeped out.

Trying her best to dismiss it as stress, Shelby headed inside. Seems a few of the booths were taken as gunshots could readily be heard when she entered. The shots fired were distinct. Shelby could tell one model of rifle or pistol from another simply by how it fired. Came with the territory she supposed. Giving herself a slight shrug, she headed off to the main desk to check in an acquire a weapon or two and some ammo.

It certainly was a good way to blow off some steam, that was certain. She was assigned one of the middle booths, so she headed to her the booth listed as eight in stenciled spray paint. Laying out her weapons on the table, she started with an assault rifle. In a brief moment her targets were set and ready to go. She assumed her normal stance and began squeezing off a few rounds, always short bursts of three rounds. Two sets of tight spreads formed on her target. An extremely small grouping just above the bridge of the nose, while the other grouping was located just under the target's left collarbone. Shelby had a pleased look on her face as she put down the rifle to cool. "Wow, I forgot how much I missed doing this." Shelby usually didn't draw a weapon unless absolutely necessary. How long had it been since she fired a gun? Three maybe four months? The doctor couldn't specifically recall.

Conversation could be heard to her right though, sounded like William was trying to chat up James again. Conversations with the marksman were always hit of miss so to speak. He always said very little, just enough to get his point across. Perhaps it's a defense mechanism. Shelby went on to her next weapon and target, she certainly didn't want to be accused of eavesdropping on an uninvited conversation.

James noticed when both William and Shelby entered the shooing range. William was a young elite, like Sami, but preferred dual pistols. James being the marksmen he was, couldn't understand how one could waist so many bullets but to each his own. And then there was Dr. Maclullen. James might have been one of the few people to see her in action. He remembers it well. He was on and scouting mission to save the good doctor for the Kepi and the simple silent rescue turned into a bloody gun fight. Shelby held her own very well much to his surprise so he knew just how great of a shot she was. But that was a good time ago, so needless to say he was a still a bit surprise to see her in the rifle range.
As James was preparing to shot his next shot, it was when William asked him about the letters. Hearing the question made him flinch just a little bit as he fired making the shot stray down a bit. The bullet, instead of being another headshot, hit the targets neck and taking it's head clean off. He the emptied his clip and stood up. He looked at the young male and shouldered his weapon.
James - These are the letters of the names for my squad that was killed by the Kepi.
He then walked over to the table, put down his sniper rifle and picked up his shotgun.
James - ....and now Russell....
The armored man grabbed a few bullets, loaded the shotgun, walked back to his stall and began more target practice. This time it was more set up for close quarter combat.

Sami glanced up with a sad smile on he face at the mention of chess. In an odd way, that brought back a happy, yet painful memory.
"My dad used to say life was an everlasting chess game. Sadly, I'm not very good at it. He was teaching me before..."
The girl paused, looking down at her hot cocoa while trying to keep her composure as tears were starting to build.
"Even my step-dad tried, but.. I never gave him the chance.. I gave neither a chance... Now, Ryder won't be able to either.."
Sami's hand went up to her face, covering her eyes as her shoulders jerked in a quiet sob. She silently scolded herself for breaking down so easily and rage was slowly rising with every memory she thought and every word she spoke.
"Why is this happening? Why is there even such a war? What in hell started all of this and for what purpose do we fight?"

William saw James flinch momentarily while taking the shot at the target. He ended up hitting its neck, taking the head clean off even though it was suppose to be a headshot. This made William nervous as he continued to watch James empty his clip.

Did my question trouble him? I've never seen him jolt like that before.

Even though it was a slight flinch, William treated it like James just had a spaz attack. The marksmen carried himself like a such an elite that it was hard to remember that he was just as human as the rest. Even the great James Black had fears and discomforts. When he was done, he got up and told William what the letters were for. Each one was symbolized as a memento from past comrades that got their lives taken by the Kepi. The ranger's eyes quickly glanced over and stared at the fresh new "R" that was on his arm.

Now Russell's been added to the list as well...

Before he could ask anymore questions, James loaded up his shotgun and took off into his stall for close quarter combat. William sighed and returned to his stall, reloading his pistols to do the same until he noticed another presence in the Range.

"Ah, Ms. Shelby! I didn't know you were here too."

He then remembered the last time he saw the good doctor and the small panic attack she had from Jezebel's "questionable" contraband.

"I-um....take it that you're feeling much better, correct?"

*That was not something she was expecting to deal with. Yet, Colleen was normally at her best when helping others out around this place but having Sami just broke down. Setting down the coffee, the blonde rolled her chair over to the crying assassin.
Hugging the younger one, she let the girl cry.
Colleen - Everyone part of the Noe knows life expectancy for us is shorter then the average person but we take on the uncertainty. Ryder knows this and where yes she acted out but who can blame her. But remember what Regi said...Ryder is more mature then a lot of people at the main base...she will be back on her feet in no time. It both a blessing and a curse to see someone that strong at her age. You needn't worry too much about her.
*The elder woman was then quiet for a moment before she spoke again. Allowing what she said to sink in. Letting Sami take the information in slowly. Only after a few long moments did Colleen even bother speaking up again.*
Colleen - As for what started it. Human nature did, a long time ago.
*Not many really knew what the start of this centuries long conflict but with how she knew the human mind worked...Colleen was sure it was when greed started to settle in...when needs turned to wants. Wants turning into takes. Conflict was what made or broke a human.*
Colleen - Humans are at their best during a conflict but they are also at their very worst. A lot of people want things their way or the highway, those people are in the Kepi for the most part. They want to control the world, deciding who has worth and whom will have "accidents"...who to leave alone and whom to trouble. We are their opposite force, we believe in free will letting people choose their path and protecting those innocent as best we can. This is a war of "Freedom" verses "Enslavement" basically. If we don't fight then no one will. Everyone has a choice to serve, no one has to be here if they don't want to but all who leave are watched by us...you never really are free again. Does this make sense to you?

Inanna - You are seriously taking Autumn Rain? Wow...she hasn't seen action in ages...but do you really need her?
*Taking a sip of her tea the leader looked up at her Comm Director. She was hoping he wasn't serious. When Autumn Rain was about Regi turned into a vastly different person...one that scared her a bit. She was woman enough to admit it too.
Inanna was propped up and leaning against Regi, with his left arm around her so she was stable and not afraid of falling over. She still had a fever and cough. Pain all over her being as well, so he had to be very gentle when he moved her. The Aussie himself placed her where she was so she could eat and drink with little issue but what had not been able to consume much but a little was better then nothing. The food was also quickly delivered...somehow he had a feeling Colleen set this all up for some reason.
Taking a bite out of his sandwich wrap the white haired male consumed it before answering. He knew Inanna was worried and with every right. Looking at her over her tea cup the man replied. This had to be his grounding session so he wouldn't get too carried away...Colleen knew how much Inanna meant to him. She was the only one he told his truth too.*
Regi - That is what Colleen said. I know you are worried but Colleen will be with me. I won't loose myself to Autumn. I made you that promise when you first met her.
*The young leader was silent for a moment. She knew what he would keep to his word and also knew Colleen wouldn't have asked to bring Autumn Rain to something that was important. Sighing the female looked back to him with her emerald green eyes.*
Inanna - Must be important...You and her rarely take on such things. Please just be careful.
Regi - I will, don't fret. You are also out of commission, so I think she was originally meaning to take you but you need rest so she made adjustments to her decision.
*Leaning against the man a little more, the red head took another sip of her warm tea. Regi wasn't going to go back on his promise so she just had to believe him.*
Inanna - Alright, I will, brother.
*The Aussie smiled.*
Regi - I know, sis.

Spinning his katana, Fatal sheathed it. He crossed his arms. Naiiko was an interesting one. There was no doubt her skill put her ahead of the others. It was a welcoming thing to learn about her.

"You want to know another extreme of how I practice? I ask this sarcastically, Miss Naiiko. My humor is a bit dry. I'm sorry for that. One moment, if you don't mind."

Fatal quickly stepped out of the training room and looked down the hall. Surely, someone could be heard timely walking away. Calling out once, Fatal immediately returned back inside to meet with Naiiko.

"The foolish woman coming is Analiese. She is nosy. And she talks over me. But she is tolerable. I do believe she was raised in a setting with family and friends that--"
"Faaaay-tal! Fay-tal! Fatal! Fatal."

Analiese could be seen walking in with a heavy machine gun equipped to her back.
She was the type to find "tact" overrated. She was temporarily glad to not be in the higher echelon of soldiers. She suspected being badly gossiped a lot for her pretty-eccentric behavior.

"There, Miss Naiiko." Fatal began. "You can tell by the way Analiese carries a heavy gun like that in the close combats quarters that she has been busy practicing."
"Ha-ha-ha. What is it? Are you lonely? Need to use the lady's room? I can take you, Fatal. I don't mind. But I will have to follow you inside. I need to make sure you don't fall in. And I need to make sure you use it properly."
"Analiese, I don't--eh. I don't... What? Was that a...? Excuse me? Wait. No. Anyways... Stand there and shoot me. I wish to practice my reflexes."

Fatal hoped Naiiko would get it once Analiese acted.
Without a second wasted, Analiese pulled out a pistol from her leg holster and fired. She tried to put one right through Fatal's chest.

A blinding move cut the bullet in half to send it flying behind Fatal. He was so fast, he could unsheathe his katana and split the bullet in twain.
Sighing, Analiese put her gun away and readjusted herself. She seemed disappointed not to hit her target.
"Yes, yes; then you make a sex joke. So funny, Fatal. Always so funny. Is that all? Showing off to your friend?" Analiese asked.
"I wanted to offer Miss Naiiko the--"
"Uuuuugh. What is this 'Miss' crap, by the way? Is she a VIB? Very Important b***h? I'm not a 'Miss Analiese'? Ugh! Ew, Fatal. Just ew."
"Yes. Anyways, I wanted to see if Miss Naiiko wanted to reflect bullets with the blade of her weapon. This is more practical practice I offer her."
"Because all humans cut bullets easily. Yep. Smart thinking, as usual."

Fatal offered a hand out to Naiiko, signaling his offer. Analiese was a handful, but she was one good mission away from being an elite. She just drank too much and wasn't very serious. Her hopes were to be around Fatal more and become a better soldier. So far, it was working. But Analiese refused to let all her habits and personalities change.

"I suppose take a stance if you wish for Analiese to shoot at you. I will continue practicing if you do not wish to partake." Fatal said.
