"In order to exist, you need a purpose..."

The world truly did have a lot to lose, perhaps. Perhaps it had very much to gain, as well. Hotaka didn't pay much mind to this. He found himself not in reality. The Genin placed himself in some existence that rendered itself neither life nor death, because neither of the two were important to him. He allowed his entire life to simply revolve around what is not, opposed to what is. It seemed to others as if he was dragging himself along the road, but in his own mind, he was living a much better life than they were.
Hotaka continued his steady, and calmly paced breathing. It appeared as if he truly was in some place that none other than himself could enter. His body was perfectly relaxed, and his mind seemed clear of thoughts. The only reason for this was, that, Hotaka had yet to find anything important enough in life to think about. He simply allowed most things to pass him by. Up to the current date, the Genin lived for himself, and it was highly unlikely that that would make an alteration any time soon. But the future simply wasn't predictable.
A small- seemingly invisible- movement took place as the Yukikage began to speak. The posture of Hotaka's head changed, slightly, forcing his scarf to make the slightest of changes in its position. The man was "laying down the law", as they say. Setting it straight. The Genin respected him in the slightest for this, but that didn't change the fact that he simply didn't care for the matter. It did just sound like a waste of time and effort. Travelling to a "foreign land" to dance, play games, and other "festivities" honestly did not sound worth the trouble. However the Yukikage continued to mention something that did intrigue him. "A bit of R&R" as he called it. If this was true, he could spend the entirety of the journey simply doing what he did best- nothing.
Without changing his stature from its bored and seemingly ignorant position, Hotaka spoke. "Fine, then." He made his point short and blunt, but clearly evident that it was compliance. Reluctant or not, it was obviously a note of compliance. He supposed that he would wait, then, until the "games" began.

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael narrowed his golden eyes at the Hotaka boy. He was a tough piece of meat that Zael would have to knead. Either him or Ruri'iro. Either way, that boy had it in for him if he acted like he didn't give a damn about anything. Zael was overcome by the need to walk over there and pull the genin into the air by his shirt, but he stopped himself with ease when his brain stopped functioning. Why? That damned adorable girl stuck her tongue out at him. His face erupted in pink smoke and he clenched his fists, finding it incredibly hard not to hold the girl in his arms without seeming like a creepy man. He didn't even bother correcting the girl when she claimed he called her a frozen squirrel as he did not, but he turned away in remorse, hoping a little less eye contact with her would do him some good.

Zael realized that someone needed to get the games started and he frowned and crossed his arms. "To make this more interesting, the first one who catches a squirrel with a fake ticket will have to do one-hundred push-ups! And the first person to catch a squirrel with a real ticket will spar with me!" Zael really wanted a work-out, but he also wanted to test the strength of the new generation. He pounded his fists together and yelled, "GO!"

"In order to exist, you need a purpose..."

Hotaka had already known the speed at which squirrels travelled. He'd caught them before, as training with his... Previous mentor. A prospect that he would rather not think about at the current time. He simply needed to use the knowledge of which he'd gained. Approximately a maximum of twelve miles per hour. Possibly more, depending on the lenience of the specific creature but approximately as such. It was unlikely that it would travel any faster than thirteen miles per hour, but that was not something that the Genin needed to worry about. He needed to worry about how fast a raven could fly. His mentor was a summoner of them, so he knew the exact height of their speed. Approximately fourteen miles per hour, however, again, with different specifications in the creature, there was still a possibility that it could fly for more. The difference in Hotaka's plan was that his birds were not going to be alive. He could mould them however he pleased, making them more aerodynamic at will. They would easily defeat the squirrels in a matter of speed. Birds do prey on rodents, after all. He was trained in catching creatures such as these. Assassins had to be swift, and that is exactly what the Genin's mentor taught him. To be swift and unnoticed was not to be an assassin, but to be able to catch and kill those who were potentially swifter and more unnoticeable.
Without casting a single handsign, a jutsu began coming into play surprisingly quickly. The snow around Hotaka crystallised into a more pristine appearance. A more threatening persona. An appearance that was practically transparent, whose only visible traits could be identified through reflections of light striking it in the most specific of ways. This was Hakuhyō- Black Ice; a creation technique that the Genin had come to conjure whilst working to improve his stealth. Naturally formed black ice had caused the death of many, but black ice whose nature was unknown, imbued with an extremely specific change in chakra flow could be proven to become far more deadly. The user could shape it and mold it however he pleased, and that was exactly what Hotaka had intended on doing. If he was going to participate in this "game", then he wasn't going to waste even more of his time. He just wanted it all to be over with. That was all, so making this go as quickly as possible was the only effective option that he saw, since he wasn't allowed to not partake in this event.
The transparent crystalline figure beneath Hotaka's feet seemed to not be doing anything, but that was simply because it wasn't- not yet, at the very least. It would take a powerful eye to take note of what he was doing, but he didn't intend on allowing anyone to witness. Forming the Ram handsign directly adjacent to his chin and upper pectoralis muscles, he began casting a jutsu that would allow himself to cause even more stealth. He wanted none to watch him, as that would only allow them the ability to observe, and possibly counterattack. That would only draw out the game for him, and that seemed to frustrating. He didn't feel like wasting his time by having others interrupt him.
A heavy mist began surrounding the area. This was a technique mastered by the ninja of Kirigakure no Sato- Hotaka's homeland. Named specifically after the village, Kirigakure no Jutsu was designed for stealth, and utilized by the members of the renowned Seven Swordsmen of the Hidden Mist for quick and steady killing, or simply for the mere factor of surprise. Nonetheless, this was a jutsu that the Genin had spent much of his time coming to master. The mist spread over a massive region of the training grounds, and perhaps spread even farther. It would slowly drain Hotaka's chakra levels keeping the technique intact, but he didn't intend on moving from his current position.
Hotaka knew that his crows were likely not going to be enough, so he'd intended a double play. As the first line of slower birds sent themselves out, he would release another series of birds, whose speed was much faster. The crows- the carrion eaters- would pick up the remains, if they hadn't done so, already. Although he'd never tested this jutsu before, he approximated swallows to be able to fly at a maximum forty miles per hour. His could possibly reach an even higher extent, due to his being able to properly mould them and shape them as he wished. His chakra was surely going to be drained quickly, but that wasn't of his concern.
After creating the first series of handsigns, several large crows made of Black Ice formed their way from beneath Hotaka's feet. This was his first brigade. The distraction. The thing about the distraction, however, was that the Genin could see everything that his crows could see, due to a connective bond between the chakra that he split. This meant that if his plan were to falter- and, he doubted that it would- he would be able to take note of it in an instant. That was all that he'd needed to know.
Once these slower birds began moving farther away from Hotaka, he began casting another series of handsigns for his second brigade. The surprise. Tiger. At that, an array of crystalline swallows arose from the ground. Although Hotaka couldn't see through the eyes of these birds, he could manipulate them as he pleased. As long as the crows remained in play, he could utilize the smaller birds accordingly. That was his plan. If something began to allow itself to form a wreck, he'd had something else in mind, as well, but it would mean that he wouldn't be able to control his frozen birds with as much concentration as he'd have preferred.

• Kirigakure no Jutsu [Hiding in Mist Technique] ~ D Rank
The Kirigakure no Jutsu is a speciality of the ninja from Kirigakure village, where one causes a mist to spring forth by lifting up some water from either a pre-existing source or expelled from their mouth, then goes in and out of sight at will from within the pearly-white realm. The mist's thickness is controlled by the amount of chakra kneaded into it. It can't fool the Byakugan, but, due to the mist being created with the user's chakra, any Sharingan and Rinnegan-user will see the mist coloured by their opponent's chakra, which will effectively hide the user from the dōjutsu.

• Shadow of the Raven [No Translation] ~ C Rank [Custom]
After having formed black ice, the user may manipulate it to create singular or multiple ravens. These ravens may act as scouts, and can either be manipulated through chakra or left to freely roam. This jutsu has a property in which, the user may see everything that the ravens might see. They have no offensive ability.

• Hyōton: Tsubame Fubuki [Ice Release: Swallow Snow Storm] ~ C Rank
The Hyōton: Tsubame Fubuki technique creates a cluster of ice needles in the shape of miniature swallows out of pre-existing ice, which the user then throws at the opponent. These needles can change direction in midair and will maim the opponent with their sharp wings.

Aurora Yuki Hatake

Aurora heard Zeal say that the games had begun and quickly sprung into action. She had yet to hear her sensei explain how he made the ice trees, even though he had earlier she couldn’t quite get it down and maybe if he explained it once more she could get it. But instead of waiting she decided that maybe she could do it with her ice butterflies. First to find a squirrel… she thought to herself. She looked around and had noticed Zeal was acting weird around her again but chose to ignore it for the time being. There! She saw a brown blur whiz by right behind Zeal and dashed towards it.
“Ice style: all seeing ice butterflies.” She said a few droplets of water rose up from the ground and formed into icy butterflies. The butterflies had a soft blue in the middle of their bodies signaling that the seeing ice was active. As they took off, Aurora closed her right eye so she could see what her two butterflies where seeing. Got cha! She smirked as she saw the little squirrel sitting under a tree. She noted that it also had a ticket on its back but couldn’t tell if it was real or not. Hmm…now how to get it without it running away.
She thought for a second and named off a few techniques she could do but it would harm the squirrel. If I could get the butterfly to reform above the critter than maybe I could trap it. She made a hand sign and concentrated on looking through one butterfly to watch the other ice butterfly as she tried to reshape it. Slowly the butterfly started to morph, the wings splitting in two and becoming thinner, the antenna, head and lower body did the same but didn’t split. Ok…close enough….wait what the hell? She noticed a thick mist settling in and obstructing her vision. She released the all seeing ice jutsu but the butterflies where still around; the one that was morphing was not back to normal. She looked around and sighed softly. Now what am I going to do? This is so not cool…she sighed softly.
She looked at the other two and noticed it was the new boy who had made the mist and Issho had turned into a ball of gas. Cool…now it’s my turn to figure out what to do. She thought sadly. My all seeing ice could still work but it’s a little hard to see. Besides that that squirrel got away. She thought for a second and wondered. I wonder if this could work…but it will make the ground icy. She made hand sings and slammed her hand on to the ground, the ground slowly becoming covered in a thin layer of ice across about a half mile or less. “Ice style: all seeing ice.” She cast her jutsu and was able to see blurry images across the half mile of icy ground. Now…I guess I wait.

❝..The White Smoke..❞
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Issho looked Aurora and the new boy as the pair bickered a bit. A sigh escaped his lips. This won't be good. Distracted out of his thoughts, Issho looked to Zael as he added more stipulations to this little "challenge" set forth to the genin. Punishments for fake tags, and an opportunity for a test of one's abilities if a real tag was found. Sounded pretty good, to be honest.

Issho focused his chakra, looking around for the nearest squirrel. It occured to the genin that the best tactic would be to catch the squirrel while it was off guard and not moving; squirrels were quick and small, and Issho doubted he would be able to catch one with his bare hands. There was always the option of killing them with his kunai, though he frowned at the prospect of that. He was a vegetarian, after all, and held a somewhat sacred viewpoint of animals. The unnecessary killing of them by humans was pointless.

As the boy genius focused his chakra, he realized that mist was forming around him. What the...? Confused, he turned to the new boy. It seemed as if he was the one creating the mist, probably using the famous technique that pretty much every shinobi knew. Before the fog completely blocked out his vision, Issho was able to see a black solid forming around thew new boy; the black material appeared very similar to ice, but the mist clouded Issho's vision before he could look anymore.

An eyebrow raised from Issho's eye. He's talented. Remembering the task at hand, Issho focused his attention back to his chakra. His legs started transforming into smoke, then his torso, then his upper body. In only a few moments, the solid genin was, instead, a cloud of gas. The mist, Issho had concluded, would make perfect cover for his smoke technique, so nobody would be able to see his ability. Issho, after doing this, simply moved his smoke around the area. He would feel if any squirrel ran past him, and he would be able to solidify his limbs quick enough to trap it. Now, all he needed to do was wait.

• Smoke Shift
Rank: D
Description: The user shifts their whole body into smoke in an instant, allowing physical attacks go straight through them without harm. A student can stay in smoke form for 2 posts and can only use it up to 4 times in a fight. The user cannot use any other skills EXCEPT for smoke skills, though he may change parts of his body back into physical attacks for taijutsu purposes. Being soaked with water will force the user out of their smoke form and back into their regular state. If a wind attack is used, the user's body is separated, and he is pretty much paralyzed for one post. In this form, no taijutsu, kenjutsu, or doton jutsu attack can be landed on the opponent. Any items the user is carrying also turns into smoke. User appears pure white in smoke form, but he can separate his "body", as long as all smoke remains in a 50 ft radius

"In order to exist, you need a purpose..."

Hotaka allowed his eyesight to become linked with his ravens formed of, now transparent, black ice. Having trained with the Kirigakure no Jutsu for the majority of his life, he was granted the ability to identify his surroundings while cloaked by the mist without having to put in much effort. This would make the terrain easy for him to apply his skills, and perhaps, debilitate some of the skills of those of whom he was apparently "competing" against. Despite this, he took note of something from his peripherals. The Genin watched as his temporary opponent- the boy with the white hair- began vanishing and becoming one with the mist. An interesting tactic, but the one who created the shroud had the ability to identify the difference between the variations in his own chakra flow that was swarming through the mist, and the small section that was the boy's, of which was completely separate from his own chakra. It seemed as if he was Hotaka's bigger threat of the two.
As the Genin allowed his focus to reach the now camouflaged other, he began analyzing what ways that he could use to change his battle tactic. It was evident that physical attacks would not work, as the properties that gases possessed simply made such attacks worthless to attempt. It was a possibility to cast a Genjutsu, but Hotaka was not the type to be naive enough to use his more powerful mind games from this early on. The thought now occurred to him that, perhaps the other Genin could still feel. If this was a mere transformation technique, then he would still have the ability to notice if something moved past him. It was worth the attempt.
Summoning another series of swallows, he directed them in the approximate direction of where the boy's gaseous body was composed. If this failed, Hotaka honestly hadn't had any point in wasting his time with the better of the two competitors. His chakra levels would deplete too quickly if he were to attempt to take on either one directly- especially the white haired fellow.
Whilst awaiting a possible response from the direction that the other male Genin was in, Hotaka returned his control back to the other swallows and ravens. Both outsped the creature of which he was trying to catch, which gave him the upper hand. Now he simply had to locate them, and, fortunately, just as the other Genin were presumably unable to see, as were the squirrels. This allowed the favour to be completely handed to Hotaka.

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael smiled somewhat devilishly as Hotaka performed a jutsu that surrounded the private training grounds with opaque fog. The jounin took the cigarette out of his mouth and put it out in his discard box, which he then slid back into his waist pouch. He shut his eyes, as they were currently useless with the mist. Instead, he listened. He heard the cracks and shatter of something that resembled glass, but he wasn't sure. Obviously, the Hotaka boy. He seemed to be much stronger than the other two, which immediately sent a rippling sensation down Zael's back and made Murasame, his katana that was hanging loosely on his back, shudder. Zael wanted to have a good fight with someone. He kind of hoped that Hotaka would get the real ticket so that he could spar with him, but Zael was beginning to get impatient. Not only that, but Hotaka was within grasp of nearly all the squirrels. Zael had to shake things up a bit in order to keep Hotaka from believing that it truly was pointless.

A frightening grin grew on Zael's face as he reached behind his back and grabbed the hilt of Murasame. He pulled it upwards just a bit to reveal the glittering stainless steel of the blade and his figure disappeared in a flutter of sparks of electricity. In an instant, he was just above Hotaka with Murasame fully unsheathed and raised in the air for an attack. Zael's face looked wild with excitement as he swung his blade downwards at Hotaka, hoping to make things more interesting for the two of them.

Meanwhile, a confused squirrel was kicking and knawing at a piece of string that was tied around his belly. It was uncomfortable, but the happy little squirrel figured that perhaps out-running it would remove it from his body. The squirrel immediately started to run about, hoping that maybe the item tied to his stomach would simply slip off. The squirrel darted right by a cloud of gas that looked somewhat different from the rest of the mist that clouded his vision. However, the squirrel paid no attention to it.

"In order to exist, you need a purpose..."

As Hotaka was nearing the grasp of practically every squirrel that he could locate, his focus took an immediate shift elsewhere. This new subject of his vision caused him to sigh, out of exasperation and not wanting to put forth any unnecessary energy. What was to come meant using more chakra, and this was something that he simply didn't wish to do at the current moment. He knew well that his tank was two things. It was not well built, and also the fact that he merely hadn't the largest chakra reserve. He would have to improvise, but a tactic had been long since devised. The Genin's mind was not that of a genius- no, his reflexes were simply outstanding. Something that the boy was often credited for, by those few who waged war against him.
This new focus was none other than the Jounin that had set up the game. It was evident that the man hadn't needed his eyes to detect Hotaka's location. This was no feat, but it was clearly better than what lacking the two other Genin could accomplish. Instantaneously, the man's location shifted. The former being his previous location, standing about at a somewhat decent distance away from Hotaka, and the latter now being directly above the boy, with blade in hand. Perhaps they had already recognized that Hotaka was nearly at the point of winning, so he was being awarded with his battle against the game master.
Judging by the nature of the Jounin, he utilized his sword to quite an extent. The posture, stature, and way of which he held the weapon was something that he could recognize clearly; this was a skill that he'd gained during his time with his mentor- a master swordsmen. Even the sound of the way that the man slashed with the weapon was enough for Hotaka to identify his skill. His plan was to debilitate this skill.
Similarly to the Genin's black ice, a thin transparent solid formed on his arms, surrounding them entirely. This time, however, it was not ice. The seemingly invisible sheets that coated Hotaka's arms were purely crystalline, composed entirely of a crystal whose breaking point was extremely high. This was the Kesshō no Yoroi. The boy raised his arms directly above his head, so that the blade would come directly into contact of the crystal. He had no idea what sort of force was held behind the sword, however his Crystal Armour was extremely reliable. After all, it is said to be the strongest defensive elemental armour-type technique.
Despite this being an important piece of Hotaka's trick, this was not where he'd intended on making things interesting. This was not debilitating to the Jounin in any way. This was a double-play, and, although that meant that it would require twice as much chakra, Hotaka had figured that it would be worth it.
The jutsu to come required no handsigns of the user- not the Genin, at least. Knowing that the Jounin was coming down unto Hotaka from directly above, this was where he was prepared to make his strike. He'd intended one hand to grab- or at least touch- the blade, and the same for the attacker; the other hand was focused on simply touching him. The boy assumed that both would work in succession, as, he knew that the Jounin was blinded by the Kirigakure no Jutsu, and was completely relying on his other senses. The purpose of this mere contact was for one sole reason: to drastically increase the weight of both targets. The Doton: Chōkajūgan no Jutsu was created exactly for this purpose. Upon making a connection with the desired entity, the weight of it would increase to a massive amount, to the point where a person would be completely unable to move due to the sheer pressure placed on their body. Even if Hotaka missed the Jounin, touching the blade was inevitable, and this would make it nearly impossible for the weapon to be utilized until the Genin released his jutsu.

❝..The White Smoke..❞
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

A few seconds passed before Issho felt something move near him on the ground. The object that moved was small - about the same size as a squirrel - and since it was moving on the ground, Issho hoped for the best. Moving on reflex only, the boy transformed his arm back into solid matter and reached down, making sure to place his hand a few feet in front of the squirrel's estimated path. A grin came to his face as he realized that he had made contact with something furry, and as he pulled it up into the air, the very top of the smoke slowly grew tan and blue in color. Issho's now-solidified face gazed at the squirrel in his hand, and his grin grew even bigger. He had just caught his first squirrel and, with it, his first ticket. Issho would have looked to see if the piece of paper was authentic or not, but the thick mist surrounding the arena was just too much to look through. It felt real, the moisture in teh air didn't cause the paper to deteriorate. The white-haired boy merely shrugged. This seemed to be real, and he had done all he could in the conditions given to test out its authenticity. To be safe, he would perform the tactic again and again until he was out of chakra, catching as many squirrels and tickets as he could get his hand on. The more tickets he had, Issho mused, the higher the chance was that he would receive a real ticket, and a real ticket meant getting to go to the Land of Iron.

The genin peeled off the tag from the squirrel's back and placed it in his pouch. Smiling, Issho transformed his head back into smoke, then his arm. The squirrel was still kept in the smoke's grasp, for Issho was able to make his smoke more and less dense upon will, meaning he was able to hold objects and place them on dense clouds of smoke. As the boy motioned his cloud to bring the squirrel to the ground, he heard several objects zipping through the air behind him, not too unlike kunai or shuriken. The direction seemed to come from Hotaka. Several miniature objects moved past Issho's body of smoke, going from one side to the other, as they collided into nothing and, as a result, lost no momentum. What the hell? It had seemed that the new genin boy had attacked Issho for some reason unbeknownst to him, and the ice projectiles aimed at him probably held the purpose of hindering him from receiving a ticket. Although he was a bit annoyed at this, Issho decided to let the matter go. There was no reason to start an unnecessary fight with another genin, especially when he had this little event to worry about. The boy, obviously, was just a bit competitive, nothing more. If Issho could forgive one thing, it was competitiveness, so he decided to hold no grudge towards Hotaka. Issho looked back to the squirrel he was holding, seconds away from placing it down of the floor. Something was wrong, though. Through the cloud of smoke that was now Issho, the small squirrel that used to have a ticket on its back was still. No breathing, no hurried attempts of escape, nothing. As the boy took a closer look, his brain froze in horror. One of the ice projectiles aimed for Issho instead dug itself into the brain of the squirrel, and it didn't take a medical shinobi to realize that the small creature had died instantly.

Issho stopped for a second. A harmless creature had just died. True, animals died. Death was a normal happening of life; it was inescapable, it was certain. The squirrel, if it survived today, would probably have died tomorrow. If it didn't, there was always the next day, or the day after that. The squirrel, no matter how many days it managed to survive, would have died eventually. This death that happened a few moments ago was just a bit premature, nothing more. Issho still remained quiet, his body of smoke not moving at all, although still levitating in the mist. Why was this death so important? Why had this death caused the genin so much sadness? The smoke shinobi had no idea. The squirrel shouldn't have meant anything to him, for it was nothing more than a small creature rid with misfortune. The squirrel was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Issho turned to the direction Hotaka was last seen. The white haired boy realized, after a few seconds, that he was angry. Issho was angry at Hotaka for killing the squirrel, even though he doubted the genin had done it on purpose. He was angry that the mist surrounded him. He was angry that Hotaka, the genin who was so set on not participating in this event at all, put in so much effort into stopping the other genin from receiving the winning tickets. Without a moment's hesitation, Issho jetted his cloud of smoke towards Hotaka's general direction.

The genin, because he was smoke, was completely silent as he moved towards where he saw Hotaka last. Issho knew, from reading and from first-hand experience, that the user of the Hidden Mist Technique was usually blinded as well, and unless the shinobi had a doujutsu of equal strength as the byakugan, or a chakra-sensing technique, Issho would be undetected. As the boy continued to move, he heard the clash of two solid objects in the general distance of Hotaka. It sounded much like a blade against something of similar material; not exactly steel, because it sounded weaker, but Issho had guess that it was, if anything, ice. Hotaka, after all, had used his ice technique to accidentally kill the squirrel before. Issho, again completely silent, manifested his arm and focused his chakra. The arm suddenly shifted form; smoke surrounded his hand on all sides, and before he knew it, the tan, tattooed hand of Issho was transformed into a whitish color, much like the mist surrounding the Yukigakure shinobi. The hand grew in size, becoming longer and flatter, all the while changing from a human hand into a different object. After a few seconds, Issho's hand solidified into its new form: a large warhammer more than twice the size of Issho's head. It wasn't long before this happened to his other hand, and the smoke genin, still angry, was now equipped with two, extremely large, extremely dense warhammers.

The genin, with his warhammers, sent a bit of smoke before him to sense his surroundings. His smoke made contact with two figures; one of them was definitely Hotaka. The other one was a bit larger, and this person had a sword equipped. If Issho had to guess, it seemed like Zael, though the genin had no way of being sure. Either way, he didn't really care. The two wouldn't feel his smoke sensing them, and they wouldn't see the boy either. They wouldn't see the warhammer moving through the mist to crash into Hotaka's back. They wouldn't see the other warhammer moving through the mist and coming down onto Zael's head. They wouldn't smell anything, they wouldn't hear anything, they wouldn't feel anything. The genin waited for the moment he made contact, eager to show Hotaka a lesson about competitiveness. Zael was a jounin, so he would have to deal with a bit of damage; Issho had no intention of pulling any punches this time.

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael's eyes widened in concern when he watched Hotaka produce some kind of crystal on his arms. Now being close enough to see him, Zael recalled hearing about those types of jutsu. He couldn't remember the name, but he could remember that they were considered the most useful defensive armor in all the lands. Sadly for those crystal-users, they hadn't met Murasame. Murasame was forged with chakra in order to make it the heaviest weapon in the world, despite how it looked. Zael had thought that Hotaka would simply dodge, not take the blow head-on.

"You idiot-!" Zael hissed through clenched teeth as he tried to pull back Murasame. However, despite all his training and strength with the weapon, he was never able to pull it back after swinging it with all his strength. Zael immediately began to regret pulling out Murasame. From his position still in the air, Zael saw something grayish whiteish travelling quick towards Hotaka's back. What the hell is that? Zael didn't have time to think, but his instincts told him that it was dangerous. Zael then heard something whizzing in the air, close to him, and his head shot up to find something that looked like an axe coming straight at his head. Zael didn't have a lot of options at this point. He didn't know who the hell decided he wanted to kill them, but it was painfully clear that Zael had to make a decision: save himself or save the genin from getting sliced in two. Hotaka barely had any chakra left, that much was obvious.

Zael was getting pissed off with all the thinking and, instead, decided to take action that his instincts would provide. Zael was able to get much closer to Hotaka with all the thinking he had to do and with time moving and all, but he wasn't close enough to grab him in time. So, Zael did what he did best. He swung with extreme force with his leg and tried to connect Hotaka's side with his foot, hoping to kick the boy out of the way. If they did connect, the utter strength from Zael's attack would probably break a few ribs and would send the genin flying in the direction of the kick, which happened to be towards Aurora. If that blow had worked, Zael would have two problems: the warhammer still coming down on his head and the warhammer that would had missed Hotaka but now aimed at his crotch. It was extremely difficult to move in the air, even as shinobi, but add a hundred-pound sword to the equation and it's nearly impossible. It was only then, in the dire situation, that Zael realized how easily he could dodge them. He gave himself a mental slap on the forehead as he twisted his shoulder, therefore twisting his entire body, so the warhammer that had been coming down on his head missed (just barely) and collided with the one that had tried to kill Hotaka.

Meanwhile, a happy squirrel was barraged with mist and squeaked, confused on where to go. He ran around in circles for quite some time, but then the ground turned to ice and he tripped, sending his tiny body flying across the ice, only to end up right in front of an innocent-looking girl. The squirrel exhaled, relieved. He had seen so many scary people today and just a glimpse of such a pretty face gave the squirrel bliss. He smiled up at the red-haired girl and was about to frolick away.

"In order to exist, you need a purpose..."

Waiting for the blade to come into very temporary contact with Hotaka's armour, something else directed away the attention of both himself and the Jounin. The mist that was evidently Issho was approaching the two, and at a decently quick pace. Perhaps he thought that he was invisible, using the ex-Kirigakure Genin's mist as cover, but in truth, there was an identifiable difference. Hotaka wasn't inexperienced enough to be unable to tell the difference between his own widespread chakra and that of another. The way that this was identified, was the lacking in control of the mist that the white-haired Genin had taken the form of. If Hotaka couldn't control it, then it wasn't his.
The shroud that surrounded the the fight of the Genin and Jounin had taken on a very peculiar appearance. It seemed almost as if there were two large weapons materialising immediately from the air. This must have been a derivative of the Genin's mist transformation. Hotaka had already devised a way out, but his lackluster chakra tank would deplete extremely quickly. To prevent further loss, he released control of his swallows and ravens, making them simply vaporize in the air, as their remains returned back to the ground of which they had been birthed from.
Despite Hotaka's already made plot, he received a powerful kick to his side, sending him lunging in the direction of the female Genin. This situation was getting bad, as it was clear that Hotaka was the only one who could identify the whereabouts of his opponents in his mist. Fortunately, he only required one hand seal to released his mist, and none were necessary for his final attack. The purpose now was to prevent any further conflict. Despite the fact that Hotaka didn't care for these people, he wanted to spar with, at least, the Jounin once more. Perhaps at a time where he were at his full chakra levels, and was able to completely focus on the man. That Jounin had a reason for living, and Hotaka respected him for that. There was something about him that showed his diligence. But there was no time for the Genin to analyze this.
Releasing his mist, the fog began to fade away extremely quickly, due to Hotaka's forcing of its absence. This next jutsu would likely drain his chakra levels to the point where he would be unable to accomplish much else, but he didn't intend on anyone dying... Not again. As his Kirigakure no Jutsu cleared completely, he cast the Kokuangyo no Jutsu on the white-haired Genin, now that he could pinpoint the boy's exact location, opposed to his approximate location. This would trap him in a world of complete darkness. It was impossible for him to attack, again, unless his hearing was so extremely precise to be granted the ability to locate the others in the vicinity. And, judging by the way that he coordinated himself through the mist, he did not have this ability. What Hotaka knew that he was risking, however, was that after he released this Genjutsu placed upon the Genin, when the time was fitting, the chances of him being left unconscious were more than likely. Between the damage that the Jounin's kick did to him, as well as his low chakra levels, simply ensured this, but that meant nothing at the current time. This event struck a nerve in Hotaka, and he wasn't about to let someone be killed, or seriously injured, save for himself.

❝..The White Smoke..❞
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Being able to use his smoke as a sensor-type ability, Issho only waited for his two warhammers to connect as he realized what Zael was doing. The jounin was acting as a jounin, something Issho expected. He was putting the genin known as Hotaka out of harm's way and facing Issho's attack head on, something that would have been expected out of his position. As he sent the boy flying with his kick, Zael maneuvered in the air well enough to escape both of Issho's warhammers, causing the two to clash into each other. Sensing the upcoming impact, Issho vaporized his arms in mere mini seconds, allowing his two weapons to escape collision and, instead, form a huge cloud of Issho's white smoke. The genin's attack had failed, but he wsn't finished yet. Eager to continue his attack, he sent his cloud chasing after Hotaka. The mist still clouded his vision, but it only took a moment for the genin to realize that his smoke would act as his new eyes. The smoke, in essence, was an extension of himself, and just as a human would be able to navigate with the sense of touch, so would Issho. His smoke would be able to sense the shinobi in the area for him, as well as the other objects in the area. Then, Issho would just need to attack.

It wasn't long before the mist dissipated, and, if Issho had to guess, Hotaka was most likely running low on chakra. The powerful kick to his side probably didn't help his condition much, so Hotaka, Issho had concluded, was at his most vulnerable at this point. Perfect. The young boy, now being able to see, darted towards the black-haired genin who had annoyed him so much, his body of smoke moving at amazing speed as it jetted towards Hotaka. It was much quicker than any speed Issho - or any genin, for that matter - could have attained on the ground without some assistance of a jutsu. As the white-haired genin came closer and closer to Hotaka, his eyes set on the black-haired boy, he was stopped by another hindrance in his eyesight. By the looks of it, Hotaka had performed another jutsu, this one also aimed at Issho's eyesight. Before he knew it, Issho was covered in abysmal darkness, nothing appearing to his line of sight save for completely black emptiness. He couldn't see yet again. The boy simply smirked after realizing his condition. It was as if Hotaka had performed the same jutsus again, this one just laden with more chakra. You can't fool a dog with the same trick twice.

Now only a few feet from Hotaka, Issho sent most of his smoke in front of him. The cloud of white vapor surrounded Hotaka; it wouldn't have any smell or distinct effect on the genin, save for debilitating his eyesight. Issho focused his chakra, and, in mere moments, two swords surrounded Hotaka's neck, execution style. The swords, much like the earlier warhammers, were of Issho's creation, and they were just as sharp as regular swords. Here it was. Issho had Hotaka cornered. If the boy moved, Issho's swords would simply move with him. If he ducked, or jumped, the smoke would stick to him like color, thanks to its sensing capabilities. The swords couldn't be physically attacked, and they couldn't be outrun. There was nothing stopping Issho. Nothing at all from cutting the boy's head clean off. He had the opportunity, he had the means, he had the reason...somewhat. But, Issho realized after a few seconds, he didn't have the intent. He didn't want to kill Hotaka. There was no reason to kill him. The boy had killed a stupid squirrel accidentally, and Issho had lost his cool. He did nothing to cross the white-haired genin, and his actions, arguably, did not danger the village in any way. Issho manifested his head from the cloud of smoke that lay a few feet in front of Hotaka, his eyes completely blind, but his smoke acting as sensors for him. The expression on his face was not angry. It was cool, collected, calculated. A bit irritated, a bit prideful. It almost appeared as if Issho was looking down on Hotaka. The face in the smoke was all of these things, but it wasn't angry. "I don't need eyes to see."

Issho let the words ring in the air for a few seconds before he let out a deep sigh. "What am I doing? I don't want to kill you." The white-haired genin let his arms collapse into smoke, the two smoke swords turning white before inching away from Hotaka and rejoining the main cloud of smoke. The genin, no longer intent on fighting, manifested himself back into solid form, his gourd still prevalent on his back, his tattoos still prevalent on his body. His eyesight was still shot, but he didn't feel like he had any reason to worry. Issho's killing intent vanished, and, with it, went his intent on fighting at all. The boy, now completely solid, took a few deep breaths. He had lost his cool, and he wasn't sure why. Issho was not known for having anger issues; he was chilled and relaxed most of the time. Something like this shouldn't have angered him, but it did. He felt the need to apologize, but his pride held him back. He would, if ordered, but, it seemed to him that he and the black-haired genin were even.

    ZAEL YUKIMURA
        THE DEVIL'S RIGHT-HAND MANxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxUKIGAKURE OUNIN

Zael landed hard on the ground as the two warhammers transformed into clouds of smoke. That's what he was fighting? Some damn gas? What a gyp. Zael sheathed Murasame as he caught sight of what Hotaka was reduced to. Perhaps his kick was much too hard. Sadly, Zael didn't have any physical ability to hold back and this problem was known across Yukigakure. Hotaka looked worn-out after dispensing the mist and Zael sighed, less concerned as he could see again. However, his expression grew hard as he witnessed Issho's gas weapons or some s**t like that pin Hotaka in place; two swords at his neck.

A nervous smirk rose on Zael's face as he reached behind his back to retrieve Murasame yet again. "Oi, oi..." Zael mumbled in concern at the scene before him. Did Issho get too riled up or something? Was there a hidden past between the two? Was Zael the one to push this feeling on two... twelve-year-olds? Killing intent? Zael gripped Murasame's hilt, preparing himself to move very quickly. If Issho's swords moved but an inch closer to Hotaka's neck, Zael would have indeed killed Issho. He was just that kind of man. Zael watched from his distance as Issho's blades backed off and his body of gas returned to normal. Zael's tight grip on the blade at his back relaxed and he removed them, somewhat relieved he wouldn't have to kill a kid.

Zael exhaled and dusted his hands together as he walked slowly towards the two fighting genin. "Damn, that's enough out of you two. Save it for the Chunnin Exams, yeah?" Zael was somewhat grinning mischeviously, but it was hard to tell with a face like his. Zael glanced over at how Aurora was doing and his hardened expression softened. "If anyone of you even got a ticket in this mess, I'm impressed. Show it to Ruri'iro to check it's authenticity."
