This was not the buck Whatever was looking for.
Ah well, what was he to do but be his ever charming self? So, shaking off the dismay that he had to talk to anyone other than Sky he held his head high to answer.
Smiling brightly he stepped closer to the buck and nodded confidently. "Well," he said in a warm baritone that matched his body language, "I was told through the grapevine that he or .. ah, this Rise fellow were the ones to talk to about lending a helping hoof. Or are you also qualified to give me the once over?" A wink followed the question.((omg. Maxx. I am so sorry. xD I will do anything you ask to make up for how terrible Whatever is. ))

Ruriska not a problem, and don't worry, I'll find someone to annoy with Owl's brains  Meticulous Owl thought on the buck's words, almost not hearing him excuse himself. "Don't worry, it's fine. I'll leave some fruit for you to count," he joked as a farewell. Talon followed his former counting partner with his eyes, watching him greet his father and a friend before returning to his job. LOLLI qAq we shall see. Thank you for letting/helping me freak out poor Headlong! lol Headlong carefully took a step back, nodding uneasily at the rather forward address. " You're looking to join us?" He queried warily, hooves together. " Uncle Rise and Uncle Fell are the ones to talk to, yes...they might be busy, we can go see, if you'd like." He had severe doubts about what he had to offer with his unsettlingly familiar air, but perhaps customers would like that sort of thing, and Rise & Shine contained an extraordinary number of weirdos. " I guess we can go find them. Any skills or interests?" He started towards the shop - Rise and Fell were busy bucks, and if anything, he felt a duty to Do Things Right and help potential employees along. Even if it was a creepy stranger.

"Fluffy is such a cute name! Did you name her?" The doe nodded her head vigorously. "Oh yes, my mum is lovely, she cares about me a lot. And thank-you. I've always wondered, why do kin..." Fly trailed off. "Sorry, sometimes I get excited and I talk too much. Actually, Aunty would say that I-- sorry," she smiled sheepishly.

"Oh..." She trailed off quietly before smiling her best at Rise. "I'm fine. I'm just not used to these crowds."
She watched The Killing Moon interact with another buck. Her eyes softened at the sight of her friend and only barely cast a glance over to where Walking on Fire was, before being content that he was with Left. When Killing Moon began walking towards them, she too took a few steps forward, as if to meet him, smiling easier now that he was here.
"The Killing Moon," she said, warm and gentle. She pressed her cheek to his in the greeting before glancing at the other buck. "I hope I didn't interrupt your conversation."Maxx D Sorry about taking so long, Maxx, Ruri! pb&j

Push stared at the green buck as if he were a blessing sent by the Swampmother herself.
"No," she replied, wonderment in her voice, "we hadn't thought of that. Come, you must talk to my brother."
In her excitement, she did not pause for yea or nay, turning immediately to lead him towards her blue counterpart.Scaramouche Fandango I want one. QAQ (Sorry for the long wait, I had to RL over the weekend!)

"Sadly, no, my brother did," he had prepared himself for another onslaught - only to be caught by surprise as she petered off into an oddly touching sheepishness, "no, no, you weren't talking too much at all. You - you want to see what we do? Well, I'm not doing anything especially exciting right now. Just counting back on old supplies today...but I could show you around our preservation workspaces if you'd like?" he added at the last, feeling strangely guilty about possibly disappointing her with the mundanity of stock-taking day.Amizade Aaaah I hate it when that happens! Chicken Name: Tender (What? No. It's totally not chicken tenders >.>)
Entry: It was inventory day! Such an important task, and Not for Eats was running so late! The eager acha was racing towards the festivities with an empty turtle shell on his back. It was only empty because why would he bring new stock with him when they were taking stock of what they had? Just a Taste ran beside him, snorting in amusement that the acha was so late. Not for Eats reached the store and slipped in, hoping no one noticed how late he was. He slipped around back to where the others were working. Piles of salted and dried foods with kin minding them, counting, organizing. He ducked his head, hoping no one would notice his lateness. If he could just be quiet...
If being the important qualifier. He hadn't known Pull's chickens escaped until there was a flurry of feathers under his hooves. Not for Eats stumbled and twisted, not wanting to step on the bird, throwing the empty turtle shell off his back. It was a good thing it was empty, or Not for Eats would have just lost anything he'd gathered in the desert. Just a Taste gave a disproving huff as he ducked away from the tangle of Acha legs. What just happened? He started stalking away from the supposed empty turtle shell when it moved. The sand dog gave a startled bark. "Ah! Shhh! Tastycakes!" Not for Eats hissed at the dog. Slipping in unnoticed was probably a lost cause now but...
The turtle shell moved across the floor in front of Not for Eats. "That's new." Just a Taste was chasing the shell, and soon so was Not for Eats. But a shell wasn't hard to catch when it ran into a rock. Not for Eats threw himself over the shell to hold it down, then heard the frantic clucking under it. "Uh... Hey Pull?"

What else was he good at? Looking astonishing was a given, but that was a dead giveaway. Nah, everything he'd already mentioned was good enough. With another genial laugh, he moved to the side of the grey buck. "Yes, why don't you take me to this Uncle Fell of yours," and, he supposed, Rise.

" My girls," he said mournfully before balefully spinning round to see his sister and another buck. " Any progress?" He said, at once bizarrely keenly and depressedly, the drama of both emotional extremities inelegantly mashed together. " If only they would answer my calls."

The young buck had to resist rolling his eyes. A loose tongue like that could easily tell himself whatever he was good at, but Rise had never been very picky re: employees anyway. In his heart of hearts, Headlong knew he wasn't a particularly spectacular one himself, and he was quite ashamed. He kept awkwardly silent and found his Uncle Fell quickly, with his six little critters at work, scrubbing out the nooks and crannies of the production area. " Uncle Fell," he said reluctantly, " a...candidate." And feeling distinctly traitorous, he quickly abandoned his esteemed uncle to the strange buck, adding " I'll inform Uncle Rise" as a parting blow.

The acha did a little dance, watching as Fade explained the history. It was good to know to bring more kin to the fold. Nodding her head, Above took a quick bite of the meat dripping off. "Thus is delicious." Her eyes sparked at the meal one could have with this and a few berries. "Do we have seasonal berries?" A ticket for the MAIN COURSE! Corn followed the totoma to her brother, a fellow who seemed more distraught about chickens than he knew it was possible to be. Of course, perhaps he was underestimating the nature of chickens and the feelings they invoked. "Um, ah," he said, stammering a bit. "I was just saying to your sister that maybe they'd come if you put food down for them." He paused awkwardly, not quite knowing what to say next. "What do chickens like to eat, anyways? I could help find some." He fell silent, hoping that the totoma buck would take the opportunity to call for his chickens again so that he'd learn about the new and exciting world of domesticated avian vocalizations. Jun D On a distantly-related note, have I ever shown you pictures of my bird Tribble, so named because eating is all he lives for? Maxx D I'm not entirely sure what the best way to call chickens is, but if you're ever in a situation where you need to communicate with a finch, kissy noises work great.
