"Hey, you say free food around here, you can probably figure on twenty people. So twenty turkeys, plus the napkins, right?" Jordan smiled. "I brought some good coffee to go with the pie."

That made Jerry almost drop his marker, "What like... proper coffee? Like... from stateside coffee? Like... not what we normally are stuck with coffee??" It was as though Jordan had waved ambrosia in front of the man.
And there was going to be pie??
Awkwardness aside, he had to stay now.

"Yes, actual coffee. Jordan was kind enough to donate." Melvin said, moving over with a tablecloth. He looked at what Jerry and Jordan were making and turned his head. Looked like a turkey massacre with all the red, but they were...cute in their own way.
"If you guys to hold your turkeys for a moment. I'm going to set the tablecloth Candace found for us." He whipped the red tablecloth out, spreading it neatly before looking to them. He needed their side of the table for just a moment. Then they could set up the table properly.

"I've been saving it for an emergency. I think portals down for this long counts as an emergency," Jordan said. "The good stuff, even."
He looked up when Melvin approached, nodded, and started gathering up the napkin turkeys. "Got it. Hazel's getting something for centerpieces," he said.

"H-how much is there? Will there be enough for everyone? N-not everyone likes coffee though but that's incredible- If they don't get portals open soon I swear I'm going to go stir crazy ahahahaha... I... don't really have much to contribute but these things." He smiled weakly before scooping up as many turkeys and the markers as he could grab.

Melvin began spreading the tablecloth on the table in front of them. "Every little bit counts, Jerry. It's all these little things everyone is doing that is making this work. Even turkeys make people feel festive." He moved around the Sun to tug the tablecloth to be smooth and started to align it so there wasn't too much hanging on either sides.
"As for coffee, there are a few young people here who don't like it, and.." He looked to Jordan. "I have a packet of Hot Chocolate for Rep but I haven't told him that yet. He won't be having coffee. There is also some booze to drink. Even asked a female lifer who works over in runics who got me a bottle of wine for the women." It had taking some asking around and using more of his dwindling money from golem weapon testing, but he was making this work.
"I can't wait till a trainee like me is even allowed to leave this place." Just to go somewhere and see a chance of scenery.
Adjusting the tablecloth, he narrowed his eyes, judging, before smiling. "There. Now we can set up plates, glasses, and silverware." And yet another thing he could mark off his list on his clipboard.

Ah yes. Chubby Bunny. That had been an amazing prank. Perfect, really. But now it seemed it was coming back to haunt him. "Spit siblings? That's so ********' grody." A strained grunt escaped him as she clung tighter. The leech, it seemed, was there to stay for a while.
He'd just have to to deal with it then.
The teen groaned and swatted at the girl on his back as she rocked back and forth. "I'ma fall and squash ya like a bug ina minute."

Having so many people around her, even as chaotic as it was, reminded the trainee of home. It bit more suffocating, maybe, but a bitter sweet memory nonetheless...
Brushing off the thought, Minerva noticed the cans only moments before Eva pointed them out, and maneuvered her way around the kitchen (and it’s occupants) to collect. She would nod and flash the other girl a quick smile, in passing pointing out. "That's fine, I wasn't offended or anything. Plus, you got it right!"
She continued on her way back to the counter when all she could carry was stacked in her arms. "And I think pumpkin pie sounds good! I mean…well, we’ll see what we can do here." Next, they would need something to open these with, and Minnie was promptly on the task without pause. To Sasha, who was quickly making her way out of the kitchen, the death trainee smiled and waved in between sifting through drawers. It didn’t even register that the dark haired woman was an unfamiliar face; Minerva saw a kind gesture and returned it. "Ah hah, found it!" Retrieving a can opener with one hand, she turned to Eva and tapped at her chin with the other. "Alright, do you have any recipes in mind for...any of this?" A nervous laugh followed, hazel eyes dropping to the ingredients hopefully.

"Hey, at the time, you didn't seem to care about my spit. You just laughed it off. Get it? You laughed the spit off?" Hazel bursted out laughing at a poor excuse for a pun. "Oh, God, I crack myself up," she wiped a tear from her eye and hugged onto Otto again with a death grip.
"Fine fine. I'll be good... HEY, wanna help us make the centerpieces? I got jars, foot turkeys and some canned food. And these two potatoes! OH, grab some of that crap over there on the counter there and carry me back to the table room. All the decorations are there. Chop! Chop! Move it, blondie!" Hazel bounced on his back and pointed to the door that lead to Jerry, Jordan and the others.

Rin showed up fashionably late but at least she showed up at all. It seemed rather chaotic to her so she moved straight for Melvin and offered an apologetic smile, "Hope I'm not late. Still trying to figure out... things..."
She peered around at the others and then back at Melvin, "What do you need me to do?"

Melvin was honestly surprised to see Rin, not sure if she would hide away for a while. However, Sasha had showed up so it wasn't like Rin would stay in her room alone all day - or would she? Either way, she was being a trooper and showed up, a good thing considering that being around people during the holidays was better than being alone and missing out.
The reason question was how could he tactfully address the fact she couldn't do much. Decorations might be best, but crafts were hard to do with one arm you were just getting used to. He'd leave it to her.
"Well, Jordan and Jerry are doing decorations. Sasha, Ofelia, Wash, and.." He snapped his fingers. There was a girl doing pies, but he was rather rushed that he didn't get her name. "A girl making pies and cooking."
He then pointed to the table. "We do need someone to set up plates, silverware, and glasses though now that the tablecloth is set. We'll be setting up chairs here in a bit." With Rep and Harrison's help he hoped.

"I don't do baking so I think the plates and silverware I can handle," Rin may not have felt very thankful for much right now but she made a promise to Melvin and was keen to keep it... plus people having a shindig. She promised herself too that after arriving in Deus she would never shy away from another party ever again. Life was too short... too drastically short...
"Just point me at the flatware and silverware and I'm on it."

Bad joke was bad. And Hazel should feel bad too. Otto visibly squirmed at the horrid attack on his brain. "Yeah you're about the only one yer crackin' up here.."
Otto was not keen on being drafted into this at all. The teen huffed, not at all appreciating being used as a mount. "Whatever..." Otto grumbled, settling for his fate for now. Maybe this way he wouldn't get pranked on later. Maybe. He'd still need to sleep with one eye open.
"I ain't decoratin' nuthing though." He'd just drag Hazel around. "N' once yer done I am outta here.."

Ah ha, phew! She had gotten her name right. Considering that the two of them had woken up around the same time and to the same batch, it would have rather embarrassing if Eva couldn't remember her name at all. As she followed after the other girl, she mentally went through the recipe in her mind. Canned pumpkin, canned condensed milk--it was a good thing that the major parts of the recipe could be made from canned ingredients.
She momentarily paused to smile and return Sasha's wave, and then turned to face Minerva with a grin. "Pumpkin pie is easy stuff, no worries! I'll go dig up some flour and butter and stuff to make a crust--those are pretty basic ingredients, so I'm sure we have those at least. As for the filling, pumpkin, condensed milk, some spices--...do we have eggs?"
...Surely they at least had eggs here, right? Shia bean <33 No prob, I just got homeee~ C:

"Good question!" Eggs would be in the refrigerator. But even then would they be any good? Did they have chickens on the island? Where were these things even shipped from? "I'll go check. In the mean time we should probably get a hold of some bowls and whisks for mixing?"
A few moments later the trainee was back, carrying what was once a full carton of eggs; only now cut in half. It saved space in the fridge, but didn't do very much in keeping them 'fresh'. "This is about all I found. There might be more in there, but I was kind of in a rush." The time was ticking, and Minnie was determined to get this pie cooking and ready by the time the feast was ready to begin.
They had a grand total of 6 eggs at their disposal. And there was much rejoicing.
