I didn't forget about ya just yet. All that's left in the rough draft is the sword. Everything else can be rendered directly in color.

Putting things in perspective... saying I research stuff makes me sound much smarter than I am, but it's not inaccurate to say that an artist is built up by how much they study and put theory into practice. I've always been very interesting in anatomy and how things are put together. I just wish the rest of my knowledge base would catch up a little. (´･ω･｀) I've started to get some ideas for the coloring process that I'd like to implement to make this a more complete composition, one of which is at least a simple background. I've made the wings a big part of the overall design and being white if I don't do something they won't have the impact I want them to or being as I imagine them. The top edges picking up the glow of the halo and the reflected blues of the sky.
And a chibi for no reason.

It seems like I'm including subtle video game easter eggs in all my art recently. This time wasn't so subtle xd The sword is indeed the Soul Calibur. I wanted something that looked like it couldn't have been made by earthly hands. And gigantic. It'll look awesome, but it's another light source to consider as well. gonk

All you base tones are belong to me. Trying a different approach to painting than my usual little bit at a time method since I keep forgetting my color schemes when I take too long on an area.

I stand by my meme.
The way I colored my chibi helped me identify some technique problems as the hair wasn't as wispy as I'd like it to be while not really a problem for chibis it would take away from more realistic art like I'm doing now and it was easier for me to keep a consistent light source which will be really important since I have four to consider (sun light, ambient light, halo light, sword light). gonk
I'll be starting on the background first since it plays a major role in the look of the rest of the art I don't want to leave it as an after thought.
