Chandra smiled at that, "Good." She thought about it for a moment and decided it was indeed a good thing that Sonnet's family would still be safe, part of her had considered asking them to join them, but when it had been approached in the past they had always firmly stood their ground about keeping their own space and place. Chandra could respect that, and accepted it all the same. Thinking about holding their own in a fight she found herself drawn back to a small conversation she had had earlier, Eden had been the one to voice it but it was clear she had been voicing it for Orion, they had probably discussed it so that the shy stallion could still have a voice within the herd. "Orion wanted to know if there was anything you would like him to do while we move, to keep the herd safe.... or will his duty plainly be to watch Eden and then the foals until they are bigger and stronger?" She frowned a little thinking about it, "I don't think we should give him anything that might spook him, if he runs for whatever reason it would leave a hole in the defenses." She wasn't being mean with that just realistic, she knew that the stallion was more flight than fight... of course, that was before Eden had fallen pregnant, ever since he had been trying his hardest to stand strong... a good change?
Sonnet nudged open the pouch with the food in, chewing on some sweet grass as he thought. He was actually surprised and impressed that Orion would even ask about something like that, having placed the timid stallion in the list with Chandra, neither a fighter, in fact Chandra wouldn't even accept any kind of training, and what little basics had been forced on her had never been used. It was something that often gave him pause and caused him much worry. But it was nice to know that Orion was willing to do what was needed, even if that was a failure in the long run. Swallowing and shaking his head. "Orion's only concern should be Eden and those foals, if he focuses there then others have more freedom to do other thigns without having to worry."

Chandra nodded in agreement, she always believed a fathers presence was important for the mother and foals, made things easier at times. Support and hope all in one. "Ok. I can let them know next time I see them." She too ate some of the sweetgrass, licking her lips as her mind wandered again. "You know.... you've yet to tell me what you want me to do." While she had accepted that she would stay in the centre of the group, caring for the herd when needed and watching over Eden she didn't actually know what Sonnet thought about it all, didn't know if he wanted to try and force her to take training, or if he wanted her to run at the first sign of danger... in truth running was probably all she could handle, she couldn't bring herself to strike out at another, would rather let them attack her than harm them.... a strange notion, but she had always felt that way.
Sonnet turns his eyes back to his mate and sighs. You are the alpha, it would be a fools quest to try to make you do anything you did not wish to. And while I would wish that you could and would protect yourself and our children it is not in you to do that so take them and run if trouble comes and pray as hard as you can that you don't run into the rest of whatever is attacking us." Sonnets expression grim at the thought, and the thought that he knew she wouldn't protect herself, the girls, he could only hope that protecting thme would raise her to fighting... The rest... brought hard things to the front, things he was still struggling to accept.

Chandra chuckled softly despite herself at that, alpha... it was an alien concept still, she had never expected to take over her mothers role, and while she had stood in as 'acting alpha' a few times, mostly when her mother went off in search of her father, she had never really sought this out.... but she wouldn't shy away from it now, knew that if they were to leave here and stay strong they needed someone who was willing to lead them... that was Chandra right? She still was unsure that she was the right person for the job, but with Sonnet beside her she felt stronger. The thought of her children being injuried did not sit well with her... would she fight for them? Maybe... probably... it was hard to say. Only an attack would reveal the truth in that. "Ok." She said softly, looking away for a moment and busying herself with a mouthful of berries. She could tell this didn't sit well with Sonnet but she wouldn't apologise for how she was, not that he would ever expect her too....
Sonnet looked over at his mate again, he loved her as she was, they all had thigns they didn't want to do, much like him taking anything close to a leadership role, he hadn't wanted to be anywhere near power for fear he would show a side of him that he didn't know was there, that he had more of his mother in him and that the power and influence was all that mattered... Chandra had been born to her role, trained for it, she had always known it was an option. Shaking his head at his thoughts, his voice gruff from the grim and dark thoughts playing on his mind. You need to choose an heir..." If the worst came to the worst it was always better to have someone in mind to take the role, especially as he would be of no use should anything happen to her.

Chandra looked at Sonnet with that, blue eyes shining in concern as she shook her head. "Not yet...." She didn't want to think about dying just yet, even if she knew that the sensible thing was to talk about it, to think about it. After all, her and Io had been listed as the heirs here... and while Chandra had always assumed that her sister, due to being older, would rise first she had mostly known it could one day happen.... but did she want one of her daughters in that role? Heze was strong, but still inexperienced, she was just discovering love, discovering life... Zaniah was a little spacy and easily distracted... and Auva didn't speak..... they were all so young, all so fragile in her mind. What about someone out of her immediate family? She frowned and shook her head, later, she would think about it later. "Let's see how this works out first..." Part of her still wondered if once they actually left everyone would realise it was a mistake to follow Chandra and leave.. what would she do then? She already knew the answer, she would do nothing, she had wanted to follow her father, would allow her herd to do what was best for them... and if that was without her in command she was big enough and strong enough to accept that. Being a leader meant doing what was best after all... right?
Sonnet nodded, he wasn't going to argue, she would choose when she was ready. Sighing softly his appitite gone from the grim thoughts. "As you wish north star." Nodding again and looking up at the night sky.

Chandra nodded, a small smile in place as she tried to figure out what to do next.... she didn't know and so slipped into silence as she ate her lunch. Her appetite gone before too long.
Sonnet took a deep breath, not having touched any more food since his one mouthful, his appitite having died with his dark thoughts and worries. He would need to eat more later but for now his stomach was in sickening knots. "You might want to think of cecking on Auva, maybe see if she is doing better? Maybe try to find out what upset her so?" He hadn't see Auva act like that for no clear reason before and it had him worried. "I'll talk to Orion and then I need to get some of the protectors into a training session...." He also needed to work out how they were all going to train when on the road, it would be a trial and error thing especially if they spent most of the day walking... night even...

Chandra nodded at that, she had already planned to go see Auva at some point again today, hoping that helping Carlisle with the check ups would help calm her down, working with the older stallion did usually have that effect on her. "I'm a little worried about her... but I'm glad Carlisle has been able to bring her out of her shell a little. I just.... I'm not always sure how to deal with her." She admitted softly, "I wish she could tell me what was wrong, instead of me simply guessing and her getting frustrated." Auva was precious just like her older daughters, but the mute child made Chandra a little more protective. "I like the bells Heze gave her." Heze had told her about them in passing, but seeing them in action helped. Almost like her quite daughter had been given a voice. "Training...." She frowned a little, but only because she personally couldn't stand the concept, she wasn't fool enough to try and stop it. It was needed just like she needed to breath.
Sonnet nodded. "Yes training or we could all well end up dinner for something nasty..." Looking down at her and giving her a little nudge to stop the frowning. "I didn't know Heze gave her the bells, I'll have to smother her with praise and see how red she goes... Though I've seen Carlisle with her, he seems to understand better somehow, maybe ask him what the secret is." The healer having given Auva a choice of helping him or her mother as there was no one supposed to be working alone, promising they could get back to the guessing game/test that had been interrupted later if she wished. It amused Sonnet that even though the healer was the teacher it was always what Auva wanted and what she wished. Having asked him a few days ago when the girls and Chan were havign some girly time, much to Heze's dispair, and the answer had been simple and very true... You could not teach someone anything if they did not want to learn. All the time Auva came to him he would teach her what he knew, when she stopped she was either tired of learning what he knew or had found other things to occupy herself. Sonnet nodded to his thoughts and sighed, the healer had been good for Auva and they seemed quietly fond of eachother in a platonic way which had made Auva's reaction earlier even more odd.

Chandra stuck her tongue out, "I know that... wasn't arguing with you about it." She said, a little petulant, but she shook it off and tried to focus on the rest of Sonnet's words. "Don't do it in front of Haki.. she won't forgive you." She teased, though part of her wondered if Heze would squirm more or less because her friend was there. She was strong and stubborn after all. "Hopefully Carlisle does know something, if not I'll play twenty questions and see if I strike lucky." Slowly she nudged the food back into the pouch. "You haven't ate much," She commented with concern, "Take this with you, get hungry... promise me you'll eat?"
Swallowing a laugh Sonnet nodded and took the pouch. "Yes ok I'll be sure to eat when I get hungry." Unable to keep the amusement that he had done his best to swallow out of his voice. Knowing she hadn't meant it to but it had sounded much like an order. Take this with you. Get hugry. Walk backwards. He knew his mate better than that but it tickled his funny bone. "I'm sure the healer has all kinds of things he could teach, more than just the healing arts, he is old after all has raised children and grandchildren and wandered the world. So who knows maybe you will sign up for classes too." Smiling at her his eyes dancing and twinkling.

Chandra quirked a brow at that, smile in place as she teased back, "You trying to tell me something sir?" Still she couldn't help but play whenever her mate acted like this. Those smiles were as important to her as oxygen.
Sonnet looked at her, his head tilted an ear twitching, his eyes amused and a little smug. "Don't sir me, I'm not knighted and I'm far from the boss of you my Alpha." Teasing dripping from his tone, they were a team and they knew it, but as usual she started it and they brought out the foal in eachother enough that there was no stepping down from a challenge.

Chandra chuckled at his responce, "Flattery will get you every where..." Winks, and then teases softly, "So you should do it more." Grins at her little joke before leaning in and kissing her mate. "Between us... we're equals." She said softly. That was the only way she knew between them, the only thing she wanted. She wasn't his ruler anymore than he was hers. LIcking his nose she tilted her head, eyes sparkling with amusment. "You may not be knighted... but you will always be my prince." Grins again, "Even if it is reluctantly."
Having chuckled at the lick on his nose only for his ears to flatten, he really hated that word. "I'd rather be your manservant..." He knew it was a little irrational but then finding out why he had no mother had left some parts of him raw even to this day. When he was young and it was new he had refused to speak of it. Now he was older no one asked and so he just kept to himself. But thne it was something Chandra would never uderstand, she had been loved and wanted by both her parents.

Chandra looked at Sonnet a little apologetically and dropped it. Her eyes darting to the sky, "The moon is so beautiful tonight."
Sonnet looked up and nodded, he had to agree the night time was beautiful but he missed the sunshine. " Yes, soon it will be full and we will be going." Looking back at her, nothing compairing with her for beauty to him, except for his daughters.

Chandra looked down when she saw Sonnet's gaze change to look at her. She had never really asked much before but found herself wondering about it now, "You miss the day don't you?" That was something else she had taken from him, and she felt so selfish for it. The day, the sun, the warmth, his family unit..... was she truly worth it? She gulped, not wanting to think about it. "We should move."
Nuzzling her softly, giving her a sweet kiss. "Not till you tell me why you now look so sad? Yes I miss the day but I can live without it... I can't live without you. I need you with me, I'm lost and alone without you, you're my North Star, my haven."

Chandra looked at Sonnet a little sheepishly at his words. How did he always know? Probably because he knew her better than anyone else.... right? She smiled softly and looked at him with love filled eyes. "I.... was just thinking that I have asked so much of you..." She looked down a little. Remembering everything they had shared together. Learning to fly. Playing. Dancing with fireflies. Seeking rainbows. Watching the stars. Mating. Having children. All of it seemed so fleeting, yet at the same time it was as if it had all only happened yesterday, and she knew she wouldn't have wanted to do any of it with anyone else..... "I was thinking it might be time for me to do something for you." She smiled, leaning forward and nuzzling her mate softly. "Not sure what... but... something."
Sonnet smiled gently, nuzzling her again. "If you can think of something that would be nice, but I like doing thigns for you, I don't want you worrying about things that were my choice. I'm just happy to be with you Chandra, thats all I ever really wanted, even when we were small. Now I'm not goign anywhere till I know you arent worrying over me like that." Nipping her mane he held her close.

Chandra smiled and shook her head after having her mane nipped, the thing bouncing playfully around her. "Ok. I'm not worrying.... I promise." Smiles more, unable to help it. There was still so much to worry about, still so much she had to consider... and not just in terms of her and Sonnet, they were solid, but in terms of the herd. It was all so new, so fresh, and she was still trying to amble through and figure things out. "I think I will go see Alice later, ask her again about our travel... I know we shouldn't rely too much on her, since she can only see what people are currently planning and everything... but well... any advantage is good, right?" She felt shaky, "You know where to find me when you need me sweetheart." A kiss to his cheek. "Don't work too hard... ok?"
Sonnet nodded and smiled, kissing her cheek back. "You are right, we shouldn't rely on her too much, but advice never hurt anyone and a little guidence is welcome when such big changes happen. I'll find you later." Smiling and giving her a small nudge as they did need to get on, time was short and there was much to be done.

Chandra nodded at Sonnet. Time waited for no one, they knew that. The full moon was nearly upon them and they had so much to do. "Stay safe." She said softly before finally pushing herself into gear to do what needed to be done. She still wanted to check on a few things, including Auva. Supplies. Birthing herbs. Baskets. Medicals. Problems. Alice..... so much... would she get it done in time? Plus, on top of all thats he knew she had to be the pillar for everyone to stand by, the example that offered strength even in the face of doubt... her father made it seem so easy... could she follow in his footsteps? She hoped so, because this was all for nothing if she couldn't.
Sonnet paused and ate, he had promised chandra he would and his appitite had returned with the humor and change in thinking. Turning he headed for a different part of the herdlands, thinking of gathering the training protectors as well as the other volenteers. Smiling to himself as he thinks about that and decides it was time to tell Maion that his old friend was about. He would play it by ear then as to if he told him about the herd movign with him. Though part of him worried that he would leave sooner if he knew, it might be better to surprise him. Either way they could work it out as they went. Maion would probably welcome company for a little while, though he knew some of the others saw him. Heze he knew was a frequent visitor, the girl adored her grandfather. Mulling over the issue of training protectors on the move while he walked.

Maion sat with his eyes closed, simply taking in the glow of the Moon and trying not to break. It was nice and quiet tonight, someone was approaching... he heard heavy hooffells approaching. Opening his eyes he sighed and turned. Sonnet. He smiled softly, but unlike with most of the herd he didn't feel like he had to completely hide the pain from his eyes. Of course he loved when his grandchildren came to visit him... they made him happy, if only for a moment. Yes, it was... and he would miss them, miss everything.
Sonnet quirked a brow frowning a little and shaking his head with a small smile. "I need no parting gift Maion, we will see eachother again, perhaps sooner than either of us might think." Not sure what to say, this all seemed very sudden and a little disturbing. not sure what Maion was thinking but it would be interesting to find out.
