I dont think sephiroth is generally EVIL... Everyone wants to kill him, he's been beaten, tortured, and the closest thing he had to a father was....*shudders* Hojo.

To say that Sephiroth was not "evil" is rather odd. In the end he was infact an evil person, though he may not have been before the realization that he had been augmented using Jenova cells. Lucrecia and Hojo were his parents, and the cells of Jenova only played a part in increasing his abilities. Perhaps he overreacted, which seems to be a likely case. He wanted to absorb the entirety of the lifestream into himself, which would essentially destroy the planet and everyone on it. I don't know about you, but that's pretty evil. Awesome character though. domokun And about the thing regarding Sephiroth being better than Cloud? In KH2 he may have been the embodiment of Cloud's dark side, but that's only to fit into the context of the storyline. Sephiroth is obviously not better than Cloud ( hence his defeat in two, technically three instances. ), however, logically he should be. He's better trained and stronger, while Cloud has no formal training (atleast none that I know of save MP's and maybe something he learned as a child?).

Awesome character though. domokun MN disagrees with the "evil" part here - if the end justifies the means, then all crimes committed to accomplish the greater good are totally justifiable... and what greater end can there be than pure godhood? Because Sephiroth's motivation was the ultimate goal, all methods he could use to achieve such a goal were totally justified, in my opinion. X-Hyperion-X And about the thing regarding Sephiroth being better than Cloud? In KH2 he may have been the embodiment of Cloud's dark side, but that's only to fit into the context of the storyline. It is not as if either of the KH games have any relevance whatsoever to the FF7 plotline, right? smile X-Hyperion-X Sephiroth is obviously not better than Cloud ( hence his defeat in two, technically three instances. ), however, logically he should be. He's better trained and stronger, while Cloud has no formal training (atleast none that I know of save MP's and maybe something he learned as a child?). Of course, Cloud had the entire Planet backing him up, whereas Sephiroth had only Jenova to aid him... Also, the only times Cloud ever defeated Sephiroth one-on-one were A) in his own head (final battle of FF7) and B) against the obscenely weakened Advent Sephiroth. Cloud could have done very little one-on-one against the Winged One of the Lower Reaches at the latter's strongest.

Though the end may have justified the means for him, that does not necessarily make his intentions goods in anyway whatsoever. Speakign through morality, his intentions were obviously quite evil. From manipulating the Jenova/Sephiroth to kill Aeris, to the fact he wished to destroy much of the planets population through meteor in order to gain strength from the lifestream, his intentions were very much malicious.
As for the number of times Cloud has defeated Sephiroth, In FF7 he did end up throwing Sephiroth into the lower recesses of Mt.Nibel's Mako reactor and into the lifestream itself. The Sephiroth in AC was hardly weakened, shown by the fact that he was able to collapse entire buildings. Though it is safe to say he was weaker than his Seraph Seph form in FF7, it was still the almighty Sephiroth we know.
Regarding the KH2 thing, I did state that the KH2 fact of Sephiroth being Cloud's darkside was only to fit the context of the storyline ( KH2's, obviously. )

There's no such thing as a justified evil simply because someone is better. And apparently he wasn't, after being beaten by Cloud xp
