He had been so focused that he completed missed a patch, and it struck him on his back leg, causing him to let out a cry of pain. They quickly went between, and then returned.
"Are you okay to keep fighting?"
Yes. It is only a minor wound.
"Just had to check."

Z'fer and Bronze Calanoth: Burn Post - Storm Riders Wingleader -
~ More grow tired. Kameth, Freiuth, Stoth, and Akemorth. Weyrlings can't deliver enough stone for all at once. ~
Shards. Shards. Shards. Z'fer ~ Send them back to rest and get patched up. Tell Kameth we'll need them back if they can. ~ At least hte Weyrlings knew their duty he thought as one appeared right above him and dropped a couple bags down. Z'fer saluted to the weyrling, one of their own from Malvren, and fed Calanoth quickly. They should either teach Trine's hatchlings to fly soon even though they were small or recruit some of the older riders to help. Sure their reactions were slower but things were desperate now as dragons ran out of flame
~ Kameth, ~ Calanoth bespoke the blue personally after telling the green's to back out. ~ Go back to Trine, rest and come back if you can. You've fought well. ~

S’kor and Scarath - Gale Stalkers WingSecond HP: 43/62 Agility: -4
When the order was duly relayed S’kor nodded approval. That’d give them all a chance to rest a bit. He would have liked more, but what could they do? Short on wings they’d have to improvise. He handed a lump of stone to the bronze.
They will rest and return. Scarath sounded approving of his wing. They were good riders. Noticing some thread he opened his jaws and gave just enough flame to burn it.

Optheli and Dynith - Gale Stalker Wingrider HP: 26/35 Agility: +2
Optheli couldn’t have been more pleased when the order came through for the greens to go rest. Thank Plexith for me love, then lets go get some numbweed on us hm? She patted the green neck. Sympathetic for the bronzes and browns unable to leave yet. If only there was a way to let them go get treatment.
Slowly the green ducked out to let others fill her place. Shyly she ducked her head. Thank you Plexith.

Wykla and Kameth - Storm Riders Wingrider HP: 41/45 Agility: +1
Wykla was feeling the long Fall. Training didn’t prepare for this, as much as they tried. She pondered why a moment. It’s the pain. When rope hits you it didn’t burn like Thread. She encourage Kameth on just a little longer, flame just a bit more.
Kameth sear a small piece that had slipped past another dragon. He was pleased the brown had noticed his effort. The blue was a bit indignant as the order came to return to Trine. He was doing well! Kameth tried to ignore the fatigue in his wings.

Wykla and Kameth - Storm Riders Wingrider Damage: 6 -1= 5 HP: 36/45
He did grumble about being sent back. The order to return if he could was met with better grace. He wasn’t fast enough in leaving. A piece of thread wrapped around his wingtip and he squealed. Kameth took them to Trine, promising Calanoth, we will return.

F’law and Zurith - Dawn Fliers Wingrider HP: 38/45 Agility: +1
He could only grit his teeth and hold on. When he saw greens leaving the wing he panicked for a moment. Then Zurith filled him in. The greens were to rest then the blues would have a turn.
The dark blue rumbled. I am about ready for a rest Mine. It will be nice to get some numbweed on these burns and yours.

F'nell and Krith - Storm Riders Wingrider HP: 47 Agility: +1
The greens and some of the blues were disappearing, and F'nell figured that they had probably been ordered back to the weyr to rest. It would be safer for them that way, and it wasn't like there wouldn't be a decent amount of riders left. Not with the three weyrs working together.
Krith dove down, and to left as he spotted some thread that was attempting to sneak past. I see it. I flame. He did precisely as he said he would, and then returned to his position in the wing.

N'mol and Bronze Tyeth HP: 74 Burn: 6+5=11 Damage Mod: -3 Thread Remaining: 6-11=0
We are nearing the end of the wave, Tyeth announced as he let out a sharp burst of flame. He and N'mol had accepted a sack quickly from a Weyrling, N'mol nimbly trading the empty bag for a full one and attaching it to Tyeth as the Weyrling disappeared between.
We don't have enough to send everyone back.
Send just the Greens then, for now. That is what Plexith is doing.
Monitoring open chatter? N'mol asked, smiling grimly as they suddenly came out into clear air.
Perhaps.
All right. Tell the Greens to return to Trine. Let Blues know to be on alert and to check in with you when they feel they can't hold out much longer and we'll switch them out with fresh Greens. They were losing a great deal of their strength with this move, but better that than letting riders die because their dragons were too tired to flame.
Attention Dawn Fliers. Greens should now head back to Trine to rest. Return half-way through the next wave to relieve the Blues. Blues will then relieve the Greens at the end of the next wave. We will work in this half-wave fashion until the end of Fall. I will cue you for when to leave and when to return if you are unsure. Greens. Go now, rest, have your wounds seen to.
N'mol turned to look at his wing and watched a chunk of it disappear. He sighed. Unfortunate, but necessary. With any luck, the next wave wouldn't be too heavy.
Ask the Blues to rearrange to fill in the gaps. We'll work on a proper name for this formation later.
Tyeth rumbled faintly as he did so, and turned his head to accept new firestone, taking advantage of the lull to chew the stone fully, survey his Wing and critically eye the other Wings in the air.

Cetalese and Green Halith HP: 35-2=33 Damage Mod: +2
Cetalese heaved a sigh of relief at the next break. She could feel how tired Halith was getting, how her wing joints ached. The pain echoed in Cetalese as if it was Ceta's own shoulders that hurt.
Plexith instructed all Greens to return during the break. Blues will come to relieve us half-way through the next wave, Halith revealed, eyes searched the horizon for more thread despite her weariness.
Then home we go. We'll get that small Threadscore seen to and return when we're needed again, if not before. Just long enough to take a little rest and make sure we're in good shape to fight again. Come. Cetalese fixed a firm image of Trine in her mind, and when Halith didn't argue with her, Ceta knew how hard her dragon had been working and how tired she really was.
Halith obeyed without question, popping the Greenriders between on her way home.

D'lin couldn't help but mentally wince as a good chunk of his fighting force disappeared - there was no helping it however..it was either send them back to rest or risk loosing them forever because of mistakes due to fatigue. D'lin would never risk his riders for such a reason. 'Have them shift to fill in the gaps' D'lin stated and watched as his wing rearranged themselves. Everyone would have to work harder now - which would tire the blues faster but there wasn't any helping that. At least they had all been restocked with firestone.
'Alright Plexith, it's not perfect but it will have to do' D'lin remarked, feeding the bronze some firestone in the lull.
'When is anything ever perfect?'
'Good point I suppose, tell them to alert you if any cannot last until the green's come back' He added, still fretting about the condition of his blues even as Plexith relayed the message to the appropriate dragons.
The lull in fighting was all to brief, the shimmering wave of thread descending quickly and in what seemed to be an unending curtain. If this continued much longer it wasn't fatigue but despair and loss of morale that was going to start hurting his wing. Thinking quickly D'lin attempted to come up with a way to keep his riders going despite the scores they had suffered and the fatigue that was setting in and the seeming unending curtain of thread. When an idea hit he had Plexith relay it. Perhaps a competitive drive and the promise of less work would boost them up a bit as they flew to face the next wave.
'Mine says he'll oil the leathers of whatever dragon burns the most thread in the next wave..and whatever riders complete the fall in good formation can sleep in an extra candlemark next dawn practice'

Ca'mil had to laugh just a little bit when Cheryth relayed D'lin message 'well I think that's a challenge we can take up eh Cheryth? Your leathers are going to reek after this fall'
'I can certainly flame more thread then the others' Cheryth stated confidently, turning her head to receive another chunk of firestone while they awaited the incoming wave. Of course despite the jesting both of them could hardly forget the seriousness of the situation. A Trine green and a Benden blue had already fallen Undoubtably more were terribly wounded - it happened with every fall and it never got any easier..it was really just bad luck that they would encounter such a long fall so shortly after the war with the Handlers. Grimly they turned to business and flew to meet the next wave.

They would have to be even more observant now, F'nell knew, but he had no doubts that they could handle it. They might need a long rest afterwards, but as long as they protected their home, it would be worth it.
The brown wheeled to the right, burning a patch as it fell.

Unluckily though, since part of the fighting force was gone, that meant that more thread was free to slip past, and some of it struck against the brown's hide. He darted between once more, and then returned.
