Menolly felt better in Wolfwood's arms, and her sobs lessened, "There..there was a fight. Aurora, my baby sister came running in saying my Daddy might hurt Tristen, he is a friend of mine and my older sister. My Mother came running out with a bow and arrows!" That had shocked the teen, her mother never seemed violent and yet she chose a weapon to handle the situation.
"Daddy was speaking so meanly and he had never said so much as a cross word in all of my life, yet he yelled was so mean to Mother and Tristen. He..."
She lost it again and had to regain her what little composure that she had before continued, "He said that Tristen was stalking myself and my sister and told him to leave. By then everyone was yelling and Mother had her arrow strung at my Daddy." Laying her head against Wolfwood's chest, she just worked on breathing. With her world and feeling of safety shattered, there was little wonder why she was so upset.

Wolfwood listened to her narrative, lightly patting and stroking her back in an attempt to soothe the distraught angel. When she had finished explaining, he held her closer and gently rested his chin on the top of her head. "Oh Menolly. I'm so sorry. I wish I knew what to say to make it all go away," he said, his voice soft.

Menolly was not sure there was anything that could replace the feeling of being safe with her family ever again. Could she even stand to go home? Would there even be a family intact when she returned? Letting the negative thoughts subside, she stopped her sobbing completely and her tears stopped coming. Menolly spoke, in a soft tone "I am not sure any words could fix it. I do feel better with you here." Just by his actions, she was able to put the nightmarish events close to the back of her mind.

"I'm glad I could do you that small service," Wolfwood replied, genuinely happy that she felt better because she was with him. "You know.." he began then paused, thinking over what he was considering offering. "You know, if you're not too keen on going home, you're welcome at my house. I'm not saying that avoiding the problem is the best way to go. But the offer is on the table in case you ever need a place to stay."

Menolly eyes widened just a bit, that offer was extremely kind of Wolfwood. He was opening his home to her, somewhere safe now that home was no longer that. The kindness and comfort she received even made a small smile start to appear. With Wolfwood, she got the feeling that her world wouldn't be impossible to peace back together. "Thank you so much, I really appreciate it" She did, and wasn't sure if he knew how much that meant to her.

Wolfwood simply smiled and nodded, having more than a fair idea of how much she really did appreciate his offer. He stood there in comfortable silence for a little while, just holding Menolly, before he said, "Let's go down to the lake, shall we? The water will be much warmer now than it was last night."

Menolly smiled a bit more, able to forget the trauma for now "Yay, yeah lets go." Nodding, her tone was not its normal energetic childlike enthusiasm, but she was starting to get there.

He smiled slightly then turned, keeping one arm around Menolly and steering her through the trees the way he had the night before. "Let's just hope you don't meet up with any hermit crabs today," he said lightly, determined to bring back the cheerful Menolly he knew.

Menolly leaned her head slightly against Wolfwood's shoulder. Her golden eyes searching for the next neat thing to move around the forest. When he mentioned Hermit, she looks up at him and nods, a bit more of her normal smile peaking out like the sun on a cloudy day, "Yeah, poor Hermit must have been frightened." She sympathized with the crab. Were there other things in the water like Hermit? It didn't bother her, she thought there must be lovely things to see, and with Wolfwood there was nothing that would harm her.

Wolfwood smiled a bit more himself, chuckling lightly at Menolly's statement. She was probably right. He thought he'd be scared too if a giant had picked up his entire home. "Hey, have you eaten lunch yet?" he asked, turning his head and looking down at Menolly. "We can stop at my house first and I can fix you something if you haven't."

Menolly would not have spoken up that she had not eaten, the excitement of the morning and the fact that she just woke up an hour or so ago left food to the wayside. She was never one to speak of discomforts often, her behavior before was brought on by stress and fright.
However, her stomach grumbled, she felt it was telling her to speak up or it would roar. "Thank you, I have not eaten since yesterday. I hope I am not being too much trouble." Thats the last thing she wanted to be, a burden. She liked to help other out not need too much of it herself

"You're no trouble at all. And if anybody tells you that you are, they're not the type of person you should be paying attention to," he told her firmly, a kind smile on his face. "Come on. Let's get you fed," he said, changing direction slightly and heading for his house instead of straight for the lake like he had been.

Menolly thought to herself, 'I should not pay attention to myself?' Wolfwood's words influnced that thought until she no longer regared her being trouble as her own thought or feeling.
Menolly paid closer attention to everything around her, fasinated by a leaf falling then how the shadow of the danceing trees moved. She never once worried about triping and only glanced at the path they were walking once or twice, mainly they were on the things around her and she looked to Wolfwood every now and again

"Anything in particular you'd like to eat, Menolly?" he asked as they walked along, expertly guiding her around obstacles. "My larder is well stocked. I have plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Might even have some fish stored away."

Menolly thought about it, and really could not answer about what she really wanted to eat. Although she did not like mushrooms, there was nothing else that she loved or hated too much. "I do not like mushrooms, but other then that, I would love anything you would like to make. I can even help." Truth betold, she would have even eaten mushrooms if thats what he wanted to make.
