Dyami nodded." it actualy is." he thought for a bit and turned to Manitou." im sure you will find someone eventualy and have foal of your own." noticing the sun was going down, he wondered what Cyrus planed to do, but Dyami planed on protecting his mate, and kids even if Cyrus was the protector of the herd.

Cyrus seen that Settia seemed a bit worried so he started to build up his confidence and walked over to her. He gaver her a friendly nuzzle, "You'll be fine." he smiled as he started to walk around the herd which was now almost in a complete circle.

Growing a bit restless, Resi lied down on the ground and rolled around a few times before letting out a nicker. Getting a bit tired after everything she raised herself as the black widow had wandered a few ways off from the group in a slightly sluggish manner. Crimson eyes gazed downward with her head slightly bent. Large sides heaved in and out with each breath, she felt funny. With a tree to the side, she settled herself down quietly to take a long nap. Curling up with her head resting on the ground, she slowly drifted off into a deep slumber. Soon, very soon (upon waking), would she give birth and have two gorgeous baskets to look after.

((I would normally have done this sort of thing in my Teepee, but as I have an ongoing rp in my teepee at the moment I thought I'd post this here. It's more or less a solo story, but feel free to reply to it if you wish too.))
Haveing felt resitve all night Ayita knew something momentious was about to happen. She had never been pregnant before nor had she see any of her friends who were mothers give birth so she didn't know how it would happen or how long it would take. Uncomfortable in her very gravid sate, the painted mare slowly walked over to where some of the others were gathered. Appologizing for her interuption she let them know that it was time and to send someone to the village to fetch some baskets for her foals when they arrived.

Her message passed on Ayita lumbered away from the rest of the herd. Not so far that she would be out of range should she need to call out for help, but far enough so that she would have some privacy. And then she waited, and waited and waited and waited. It seemed as if a long time had passed as she stood out under the spring sun warming herself as the wind brought her the scent of new growing things.

Eventually the pains started and they were worse than she could have imagained. She had no idea it would hurt so much. But she was strong and there had been many other mares who had given birth before her so she knew she too could do this no matter how painful it might be. She spent her time between pushings taking in deep breaths of air determined to see this through to it's conclusion.

By the time elders of the human village had made it to the herd's grounds Ayita had delivered three fine healthy foals. Exausted but delighted she lay on her side keeping careful watch as they gently tucked the newborns into the beautifully woven baskets that would server as their home for the next few weeks until the little ones were ready to come out and be mebers of the herd themselves.

When they had been tucked safely away Ayita neighed triumphantly to let the rest of the herd know of their new members.

Cyrus let out a call that was louder than anything he had sounded before. It was to annouce that they had new comers and they should welcome them in as soon as possible as well as to congratulate the new mother. His ears perked up as he walked towards Ayita and sniffed at one of the baskets curiously. "Congradulations, Ayita." He smiled warmly, "you should get some rest. While your asleep I'll keep an eye on your children." He walked a little farther off and laid down so he was near Ayita yet close enough to watch over the herd as well.

Comforted by Cyrus's reasurances the painted mare took one last glance at her baskets before settling herself for a well deserved rest. She could sleep soundly knowing that her children would be protected by the strong nurturing presence of the herd. Tired but happy Ayita finally allowed sleep to overtake her.

Having heard of the event from the returning elders Foalen came out onto the herd lands. He didn't want to intrude so he came just close enough to get a look at his soquili friend and to see that she was resting comfortably. He was astonished to see not one, but three baskets sitting under Cyrus's watchful gaze. Increadibly happy for Ayita he left then deciding to come again later once she had recovered and perhaps the foals were out of their baskets.
