about One step forward, two steps back. Whether Falterstep creates her problems for herself or whether she is just perpetually unlucky, her life is plagued with problems and strife. Unfortunately, she won't actually ask anyone for help, considering her secretive nature. This usually manifests in her being bitter, unhappy and short, or else torn by indecision and unable to make any sort of commitment.
She is usually only found in the company of her flox, Wild-eyed, and has trained the tiny creature to n** at her ankles whenever she pauses for too long.

about All of his young life he had stood by his leader, Serves-None; he had listened to him speak, and followed him without question. He had always been the very first to swear fealty, swear oaths, the first one into battle. It spoke to the youth's impetuous nature, his thirst for glory, to be seen and heard. He normally did it alone, but he was definitely not doing it unnoticed.
So it was that when a rival clan made their ascent into Serves-None's territory, the young totoma heard news and immediately plunged forward, down the cliffside, to meet their rivals. He did so with a roar, long hair streaming past his horns, and met the challenge head on ... backed by at least a dozen of his clan members, all arrayed behind him.
The rival totoma leader was overheard to say to Serves-None that if his young follower had not rallied forth to meet his challenge, they might have taken the territory with ease. As it was, he did not want to risk his own hide trying to match the energy of that young buck: "See how he rallies forth! He arms others with his own courage."

Rallies-Forth is a handsome buck; all the does want to be with him, and many bucks want to be him. He thirsts for glory and adventure enough to do any totoma proud, but this sometimes makes him come off as short-tempered and prickly. This prickliness sometimes rears its head even when dealing with the leader to which he has sworn his undying loyalty ... and, some argue, he was sworn even more than that.

about Feelgood is a purveyor of herbs, of dried grasses, of certain flowers whose properties are rather ... groovy. He is exceptionally smart -- and he has to be, to remember what plants are psychadelics and which will kill you -- but more often than not he is floating on a cloud, under the sway of the 'herbal supplements' he loves so much. He'd be willing to give you the skin off of his back if he could, and is always up to offer newcomers something to 'ease their stay.' He can often be found with his cheetah tagging along at his heels.

about Rather morbid and unrepentant about it, Afterlife is concerned with what will happen to her after she dies, and lives her life as best she can to that extent. She very rarely has an unkind word for anyone, and will help to the best of her abilities in any situation...
She has also been known to exhaustively watch and remember every thing that happens to a mouse as it decays, just so she will be prepared to experience the same once she dies.

about Shout in the Dark speaks little but listens carefully, catching the subtext of a conversation with more ease than is normal. He is subtle and quiet in most things, with very little seeming effort. After all, if you do something right, no one will notice you've done anything at all.
He is always listening and rarely speaks because he is trying to understand the thing that was shouted in his naming dream -- he is still trying to figure out what it was, and what it meant.

about The journey to their spring territory was often a harsh one. Winter snowmelt and treacherous ice made the going difficult most years. This years' journey was a spectacularly difficult one, for not only did they deal with known dangers, they had to make their journey through the howling, sodden cold of a blizzard.
When they came to a ravine over which they had traveled many times, they were forced to pause: the natural stone bridge which they had used to cross had collapsed into a jumble of rocks at the bottom. Stuck, and with conditions worsening, the totoma considered returning to their winter grounds: until one totoma doe, known for her stubbornness and physical strength, came to a decision.
Calling her tribe-mates to follow her, she made her way to a nearby tree: using their combined strength as well as her own, they strained, pushed and successfully toppled the ancient tree, which -- once the leaves, snow and dust had settled -- served as their new bridge to the spring grounds.

Strength of Many is stubborn and focused, but also a gatherer of peoples. She has an ability to gather up different kin and get them to band together towards a common goal. She is also particularly physically strong, and is a swift-footed, powerful hunter, who has made good her ability to band people together by arranging hunting parties to keep her tribe well-fed.
Since moving into the swamp and becoming one in the ranks of Rise and Shine, she has begun to use her abilities to help secure food for the tribe .. though she feels a little out of sorts among so many non-totoma.

about Wind is cocky, boyish, and some would say a disgrace of an acha. She is a bit of a social butterfly, flitting from one group to another, making friends as easily as enemies. She is long-legged with a pleasantly lean, compact form, and is blessed with the endurance and athleticism of her father, Longstride.
She is good friends with Coughing Fish and Screaming Fox. As Into the Wind is mostly queer, she seems to prefer the ladies, but will entertain the right buck if he comes along.

about Flashover is a strong personality, given to fits of temper and rage that are over almost as soon as they've started. She is a go-getter and a mover when she is in control of her passions, in control of herself and everything around her. As soon as her temper flares, however, she has to let it swell up and then die down on its own.
She is a scout, though the very nature of the job might seem questionable with her temper. When she's not on duty she spends quite a bit of time with her brother Ghost Moth.

about It alights on his nose, pale and translucent -- a moth exactly the color of moonlight. It weighs almost nothing, and for a moment he cannot be sure if he is dreaming or not.
Then he blinks: and the moth is gone as if it had never been there. A ghost?

Despite his somewhat untamed appearance, Ghost Moth is a gentle soul, somewhat introspective and quiet. He is a caretaker for the Vale, though he has been known to moonlight as a scout when there are gaps in patrols. He much prefers the methodical pastimes of cultivating plants and clearing land.
Quiet by nature, Ghost Moth has a few friends, but is closest to his sister Flashover, acting as something of a soothing presence.

about Some argue that Unmoved is a bit dumb or slow because he nearly never speaks -- no. He does not care to speak to those he views as lesser, which is almost everyone. Perhaps he has inherited some of his grandfather's sociopathic nature. His opinions are solid and unchanging, his convictions are high, and he is physically strong.
Unmoved is like a boulder sunk down deep into the mire: impossible to shift, impossible to move. The only thing to do is to avoid him. He does have an eye for the ladies, but he comes off as a bit .. sinister .. and so as such most does stay well away.
