Lightning rolled his eyes. "Oh really?" he said dryly. "I'd like to see you try." He paused at her "lungs of a fish" comment. "Do fish even have lungs?" They used gills to breathe, didn't they? When the clapping started, the Gladier didn't know how to react. When was the last time someone had cheered for him, congratulated him, or even acknowledged his talents? He couldn't remember. He settled on a course of action learned from a Gladier he'd known as a kit: He dipped his head and brought a paw to his chest in a bow before straightening and heading over to Ithil. What happened now? Was the female going to jump into the water, or would they head back into the forest again?

Smirking she stuck out her tongue. “Yes really and you might just yet see me try but not today~” There were too many other gladier around for her to feel comfortable making a fool of herself. A splendidly splashing fool but a fool none the less. She noticed a few other gladers where now taking up the challenge and starting to dive themselves. Chuckling she looked back to the idiot after watching him bow like he did this kind of thing every day. “I don’t think it matters if fish have lungs or not as long as you can hold your breath you might as well have fishy lungs. If others tried they probably drown attempting....I wonder who set that trap.” She looked back at the forest trying to ignore all the others around her. It felt strange to be amongst so many others like this. She hadn’t done so in a long time.

Lightning was tempted to stick his tongue out back at her, but he couldn't help smiling. He blushed when she chuckled at his bow, and his smile dropped completely off of his face when she mentioned drowning. He shuffled his paws a bit but then used Ithil's pondering about the trap to change the subject. "Probably just a prankster. That, or someone trying to claim a piece of the forest as their own. Could be both." Or simply someone with a wicked sense of humor. Distracted the odd situation, he added absently, "Definitely wasn't one of Ace's, though..."

“So the whole darn forest could be a trap. Well that’s just a dandy thing to find out isn’t it?” Sarcasm emanated off her as she spoke in a cheery tone. She eyed the others around and looked thoughtful. “Hey do you think we could propose a race and just let everyone else head off into the forest ahead and win?” She grinned at him and rolled her eyes. “Course I’m just kidding, as fun as it’d be to have all the other possibly nonexistent traps set off in front of us I’d feel bad if someone else got hurt.” She sighed and started to pick her way away from the other gladiers.

Lightning just gave her a look. When she mentioned a race, he glanced away, frowning. He relaxed a little when she said she was kidding, but it still made him uncomfortable. That was the one game he'd never lost at--the one that no one wanted to compete against him in. He blinked when Ithil sighed and left, silently walking after her. Was she as uncomfortable in this crowd as he was?

Dogging gladiers and working her way free of the crowd she took a huge breath when she was at last liberated. She turned and smiled at Lightning giving him space to come out into the free air with her. She kept a quick enough pace once she had tasted the sweet air of space and kept moving toward the forest eyeing it cautiously like the trees might come alive and eat her. “So what are the odds that there are more traps?”

Lightning sighed his relief as well, but his relief wasn't as dramatic as Ithil's. As they moved towards the forest, he replied to her question. "Depends on the route you take. There are certain paths that pranksters generally avoid. If we take one of them, we're probably not going to run into more traps." Most of those routes were either extremely used or not used at all--the latter because they were generally more treacherous.

“Well I tend to get a bit sidetracked so I’ll just follow you. Warn me ahead of time if we are gonna run into something nasty though. That way you don’t end up a mess and I don’t have to escort you all the way back to the lake.” She made a face. She didn’t want to have to do that again. “Of course if I do end up a mess just point me in the direction to go and let me run.” She didn’t want him to have to put up a smell like she had chosen too.

Lightning nodded and took the lead, but gave her a look at her last comment. He huffed. "Please. If that happened, I'd carry you." It'd be faster, in his opinion. Besides, if she'd dealt with his stench, he was sure he could deal with hers in the same boat. He was glad he was walking, because it hid the fact that he felt edgy and fidgety. He wasn't sure exactly why. Was it Ithil? That didn't quite seem right... after all, he didn't loathe her company like most other Gladiers. What was going on with him?

“Well I don’t doubt that you could I wouldn’t want you to have to do that. I happen to be heavier than I look.” She rolled her eyes. “Not by much mind you but enough that I wouldn’t want to hurt you.” She gave him a joking look that dared him to make a comment on her weight. She figured he wouldn’t since he was actually pretty nice gladier but well old habits died hard. Her tail twitched as she walked imagining Lightning Pawn carrying her. The image came easily to her mind and she found it wasn’t a bad thing. Of course she’d rather eat her paw then admit to it.
(Lisa has first pick on a Rubido kit since she doesn't' really have an active playable glader atm. Still since you have RPed with me so much and never once complained about me delayed tags I was wondering if you would like the other Rubido child? *just curious and has been wondering this for a while... since like page 3 or 4...)

Lightning snorted. "If you say so, Miss Independent." He didn't bother bringing up the fact that he had to toss Gladiers twice her size off of his back; she'd just scold him for fighting. And he knew better than to make a comment on her weight, despite her silent dare.

“Well I do say so there we go.” She laughed a bit feeling victory even though she knew that it was a victory handed to her by the pawn of storms. She moved forward and starred at the forest ahead. She was a bit nervous, she was safe with him right?
(Honestly I’d love to keep one but I decided some time ago that I was going to give away both little ones and I keep my word to myself. ^.^)

He'd gotten her to laugh. That sure gave him a spring in his step. But after a while, Lightning glanced over at her. Ithil was not only being strangely quiet, she was looking a little... on edge. Had he done something? Or maybe she was just deep in thought. His gaze returned forward only to land on her again. "... Hey... Are you ok?" He didn't know why he was so concerned. He was probably just overreacting...

Chewing on her lip she wasn’t certain if she wanted to answer. Trusting the feeling in her stomach she finally decided to just be her blunt self. It was what worked best for her after all. “I’m a bit worried abut the forest. Like you said it might be dangerous. So just make sure you warn me and get out of the way of trouble. I don’t make friends often so it’d be a pain to have to find someone else cool to watch.”

"Hey, hey, don't put words in my mouth," Lightning objected. "I never said the forest was dangerous. I said that pranksters like setting up their traps here." He walked quietly and waited until she finished speaking before suddenly leaning over and nudging her lightly. "Don't worry so much. I can handle it," he reassured her softly. For a moment, he searched Ithil's expression for something; but the next moment he straightened and continued walking with his gaze fixed on their surroundings.
