When Tambrey suggested reversing poles Wheatley stared at her like she was speaking Chinese.
Across the room Sky, who'd been perched atop the headboard of Star's bed all this time, rolled his eyes and finally spoke up. "Star star." He fluttered across the room to join the pair and landed on Tambrey's headboard. He'd seen this magnet problem before. He'd also seen the solution. "Star." He looked pointedly at Tambrey, then looked at Wheatley, who was watching the little bird. Suddenly Sky jumped, puffing out his feathers and pointed across the room with one wing, looking alarmed, "STARLY STAR!!!"
Wheatley, who had floated down onto the bed again, as per Tambrey's instruction, jumped with surprise and twisted to follow Sky's point with his eye. As he gawked across the room, where there was nothing, his magnets released. He didn't even seem to notice. It appeared that if Wheatley just stopped thinking about the magnets they'd let go.

"Gah!" Tambrey jumped "Fffrak.." She swore and ended up adjusting her glasses again, in some half-hearted 'disguise' to her reaction. "Uh. Hi." She strained a smile and waved at the bird; that was embarrassing. She watched the bird then, blinking without understanding Sky's calls, watched the two pokemon interact. "... You've got to be frakking kidding me..." She stared as Wheatley 'forgot' about being stuck "Uh. I mean. Thanks." The grunt blinked and suddenly looked to the Starly. "That is a useful trick to know. Have... you been out of your ball all this time? Because, y'know, Star told me t' put this one," She gestured to Wheatley "back in his ball, but he didn't mention you and I.. kind of think you guys would rather have a little time to play or whatever while you can?"

Sky tilted his head inquisitively as Tambrey spoke to him. When she asked if he'd been out of his ball all this time he offered a nod, "Star." After staring a few moments longer he fluttered over to her shoulder, then nipped at her hair.
Wheatley, having recovered from the confusion of the nothing across the room, floated up off the bed and resumed smiling at Tambrey. Yes, this girl might be the nicest person he'd ever met.

"Uh... Okay, I'll, uh, take that as a yes. Hey, uh, are you... eating my hair up there?" Tambrey half turned her head to try and look at the bird on her shoulder. "I kind of like having it on my head." She smirked, then looked back to the Magnemite. Well, he'd seemed a little odd, but cute enough so far. She extended a hand to try and pet him, though kept the gloves on for the moment. "Well, y' should probably thank your bird friend; 's lucky he knows that trick." At least, even if Star was a real pain, and likely to remain a terrible room mate, these two pokemon were perfectly nice.

"Star star." Sky answered to the hair question and kept nipping. He liked playing with hair. This girl's hair and reaction weren't as entertaining as Star's, but it would do.
When Tambrey started petting him Wheatley didn't seem to notice at first. It was likely that the strange metal plating all around him made it hard to feel things. He did pick up on it eventually though and seemed appreciative of the contact, because he 'smiled' again and drifted over to her lap, spinning his magnets, "Magnemite."

As long as the little bird wasn't yanking it out, she guessed she was okay with him playing with her hair there. "I doubt it tastes all that nice." She offered, sitting on the bed while trying to 'pet' the little electric type. She smiled as it found its way to her lap and, though it didn't seem to feel it quite like another pokemon might, she wondered about trying without a glove; the pokemon had been friendly enough so far and hadn't tried to shock her. She paused for a moment, slipped the gloves off, then resumed. "So. I take it y' get at least some time just out together?" She based her assumption on the bird's knowledge of the magnet solution.

"Star star." Sky shook his head and gestured at Wheatley with a wing, then gestured across the room toward the work table, "Starly." Wheatley did not play. He only came out to work.
Wheatley was staring at Tambrey's belt now, looking fascinated.

"Ah. Well. that's no good; play time's important too." She replied to the bird, following his gestures. Tambrey never had been very good at the 'pokemon are tools' philosophy of the team and seemed content to let them stay out now. The belt held a full team of pokeballs, including, the recovering, Ella's, and also provided a place for the pokedex to be clipped; Tambrey didn't actually realise, yet, that Wheatley was actually looking at anything while she petted him and talked to the bird. "Unless you guys just... like working, I guess, but I've not met many pokemon like that, t' be honest."

Sky tilted his head, "Star." He considered how to convey his meaning. "Starly.." He fluttered off Tambrey's shoulder and landed on the bed. He gestured at himself, fluffing his feathers as he did so, "Starly star." Then gestured around the room and jumped off the bed to flutter around the space freely. He even zipped out the window and back in again in an attempt to demonstrate a general sense of freedom. Once he'd finished his laps of the room, he perched on the curtainrod supporting Star's banner over the window and pointed across the room at Wheatley, then shook his head. "Star." He pointed back at the desk. This was his attempt to tell Tambrey that he wasn't limited to coming out to work. He spent lots of time out of his ball. It was only Wheatley that was denied free time.
Wheatley poked at one of the balls on Tambrey's belt with a magnet, oblivious to the little Starly's demonstration.

Tambrey was distracted from Wheatley as she watched the bird fluttering around and gesturing as he 'explained' things. "You... like flying in and out of buildings? A messenger? Wha-Oh!" She smiled, getting the meaning "Oh right, I see." And then frowned again a little. "Well, as good as 't is for you, it still seems a tad unfair for your team mate then." She could kind of see the reasoning (electric shocks, magnets getting stuck together) but didn't really agree with it.
The ball Wheatley poked wobbled a little in response as the occupant inside, apparently, sensed the interaction from the electric type.

Sky shrugged. He was the newest addition to Star's team (the first in a very long time). He didn't understand why Star treated Wheatley the way he did. He only knew it happened. "Starly." He fluttered back to Tambrey and landed on her head.
Wheatley hopped in surprise as the ball moved and stared at it with a wide curious eye.

Tambrey watched the bird and smiled at the shrug. "Well. Maybe you could try persuading your trainer, hm? Not that I know how y'd do that..." She blinked when the bird landed on her head. "Uh. Okay." Pygi and Palu had never really done that; they'd always, both, ended up preferring her shoulders.
The ball wobbled again, more urgently, this time drawing Tambrey's attention. She looked from Wheatley, to down at the ball, trying not to dislodge Sky though. "Um. Looks like you woke someone up..." She looked around the room. Still practically destroyed. "I guess I could..." She reached for the ball, intending to take it from her belt and press the release.

When Tambrey suggested persuading Star, Sky rolled his eyes.
While the Rocket fussed with the ball on her belt and removed it Wheatley watched with rapt attention.

Yep, persuading Star was probably kind of a silly suggestion, but still, it was worth saying, she thought. She clicked the release button on the ball and a red light shot into the center of the room, dissipating to reveal a large pink bat.
Lasi grinned. Some pokemon had been poking at his ball and that meant a new friend! He turned the grin on Tambrey and Star's pokemon, waving a wing.
"Uh. Lasi, these are our room mate's pokemon, guys, this is Lasi." The grunt introduced them as the bat waddled toward them, looking first at the little bird, then blinking at what was clearly the... pokemon (apparently) that had poked at his ball.

Wheatley enthusiastically waved a magnet at the new pokemon, "Mite mite magnemite! Mag magnemite!"
Sky just watched from his perch on Tambrey's head.
