"um, Well, staying alive here requires trying to stay hidden, and moving stealthily. Especially without the use of protective spells, magic, or the power to bless things... The safest places are these white blessed safe areas, for which soulless entities cannot enter, and the villages which have also been blessed by humans who have lived here or still do."
She kept walking, and made sure to look back this time a bit more to make sure they were all with her. As far as Kai knew the safe zone would continue. Hopefully nothing would get destroyed in this area, any entity without a soul would not be able to pass that much she was sure of.

Arell walked. "Doan' worry 'bout it." he half growled, half muttered. He was busy loading two pistols he carried with him. He knew if he was gonna get outta here, he was going to have to conserve ammo and play this out like chess. No more "cut the subtle stuff, blow the sonuvabitch up!" anymore. This called for strategy. Something he wasn't the best at.
Dundee on the other hand was listening intently. "I guess I shoulda made sure Arell packed some silencers." he said with a shrug. And chewing gum. Lots of chewing gum! he thought.
C.J. on the other hand, was mostly walking, and partly trying to con the writer into allowing him to use a jetpack in the future. A debate he was losing. Frustrated, he gave up and kept walking.

Skuld quietly listened to the explaination, glacing around to all concerned parties, slightly scowling, "So..... no magic... nothing active What about inborn powers?"

"Magic is a good thing here... I am not sure about inborn powers, but if you have a soul, you do... obviously but if those powers can protect it, then that's definitely something you'd want to use..."
She kept walking, and then looked back to Arell who was loading his pistols.
"Those weapons won't hurt anything..."
Kai slowed down, and stopped a little then walked back and grabbed Arell's guns holding them while he was.
"Tell me, have you ever had any luck shooting at fog to keep it from touching you or blocking your sight? Arell, all those guns are good for here, are for shooting plants, and those normally, normally don't attack, they are slow, and take a lot to see us. Do you plan on angering some plants Arell? Gonna rip some up or step on their obvious center points, or maybe try to light them up?"
Kai waited for a moment for his reaction, she didn't catch that he was a little moody, hadn't even considered that he was suffering from a lack of that cursed nicotine. She stared at his face, almost in a nag Kai, nag mode. Unintentionally intentional, she really cared for their safety but at the same time she wanted to be friendly about the situation.

Just when it looked like things were going to get a little better, Kai tried to take the guns. Gripping Kai's arm in a death grip he gave her a look of sheer death. Needless to say . . . he LOST ******** YOU NOW YOU'RE ABOUT TO BECOME LUNCH!!!" he said, going into transformation. Yes, after all the bullshit that happened in his world the last couple of days, this was the straw that broke the camel's back.
The transformation process seemed faster than usual. But somehow managed to stop halfway between human and alligator. His arm still in a death grip on her hand.
"Put the guns on the ground slowly, or the arm comes OFF!" he growled menacingly. It was clear he was not going to play around.

Before this moment Kai hadn't seen this side of Arell and it was clear that he /HAD/ to calm down. With her hands in his grip she wasn't sure how to put them on the ground /slowly/ but she simply let go of them. A hum filled her mind again, and she shook her head to be rid of any stray thoughts.
"Arell, you need to calm down. Listen to this, There are cigarettes, the old fashioned kind at the village I left a long time ago. That and if you don't calm down I'll make you for the sake of our other friends here."
She looked at him sternly, she couldn't transform, not in this area otherwise she would be in pain. Not that she wasn't in a little pain now but blessed things took priority over her actions as a whole. But if Arell in this state did attempt to fight or kill her there would be no other option but to, so that she would get a grasp of his life force and pull it back into logic before he could hurt anyone else.

"Kai-!"
Robin was about to reach for his belt when he froze... any 'attack' would only make Arell angrier, and they didn't need that. He waited anxiously for Arell's response.... hopefully it would be a calmer one...

Dundee and C.J. both saw the transformation and backed up. C.J. looked over at Tim when he went for his belt.
"Dude, don't do it. You're only gonna piss him off further . . ." Dundee said, slowly pulling out a satchel of gris-gris powder. "C.J., I need you to distract Arell away from Kai. I have a plan, but it's gonna take some preparation. Just get her to safety!" Dundee said. C.J. nodded walking around the gator man, who didn't seem to do much. She dropped the guns.
Arell on the other hand, glared at Kai, seemingly like he was shooting daggers in her mortal soul . . . or what was left. "Touch the human side of me again, and you WILL regret it." he growled, it was clear that in this state of rage, the human side was far from in control. He usually didn't do this to people. He was usually the goofball with a smile, offering someone a cold beer or romantic on Crystal.
What had happened here? Was it something in the air that unleashed his primal instincts, matched with his anger at things? C.J. was desperately trying to figure this out, but someone who only has one or two psychology classes under his belt is only gonna go so fa- . . . wait, what's he doing?! Did he just throw a rock at Arell?!
"Hey, Arell! Leave her alone!!" C.J. yelled as he watched the rock bounce off Arell's head, the big guy seemed to tower over Kai, who pushed her aside and started after C.J.
Dundee, on the other hand, was quickly mixing conjuring up a calming spell to ease Arell down. Putting the mixture down he went over to Kai.
"Are you alright?" he asked, before hurriedly finishing the spell. He just needed to get to Arell somehow.

Kai stumbled back just a little as she was pushed out of Arell's way. It was obvious now what was going on. She wasn't the only one getting affected by this environment. She rubbed her arm a bit before looking to Dundee.
"Yes, I'm perfectly fine. I don't get hurt here as much as I would in our world. And, this world, brings out the deepest truest forms of just about anyone who isn't human. This place really tests the mind and the soul."
There was a moment where time moved quite a bit slower for her, her mind allowing it to be, for her to think. Not by much but enough for her to notice that Arell's soul, it was displaced. Injured, spiritually and a bit physically. Probably due to her "other father". She put her arm out in front of Dundee.
"Let me have a go first, then you may jump in with that spell."
She glanced over to Kesshou before making any actions.
"Kess, put a field around just Arell and I until Dundee is done with what he's doing."
Without further pause Kai leapt forward stopping Arell from reaching C.J. clinging to his back. She burried her arms intangibly into his back trying to repair the damage that had left Arell's soul so weak to his inner most form. The croc.
"I'm no helpless girl Arell. And you must realize I know more, about this world than you by now."
She said sternly in an almost growl. Her wings spread out to try and gain balance and slow down any momentum the man had gained. The last thing she wanted was for Arell to roll, or cause more harm to himself now that she had a hold of his soul, mending the holes and rips that were created. And at the same time hope to god that she wouldn't have to fully transform to protect herself from her friend.

"You want him stopped? I have a better idea." Kesshou reached out at Arell, concentrating on the electrical impulses in his body and moved a few around and he went unconscious. To keep him, and Kai, from getting hurt she used her force field to gently lay him on his stomach as he started to transform back.
Crystal, instead of jumping up to help out to begin with she just kind of shrunk back and rubbed her arm, staying quiet and sad.
Artemis face palmed before starting to etch out a symbol in the dirt.
((Kesshou's actions have been agreed upon by both myself and C.J.))

Meanwhile, watching this all go down from a distance, C.J. started climbing one of the white trees. "I wouldn't wanna be you two when he wakes up!" he said. Writer says he's right, guys. Good news is they knocked him out. The electrical reactions not only knocked him out, but did a good part at transforming back. Bad news is when he finds out . . . if there hasn't been a Hurricane Arell in the past, there might be one when he wakes up.Dundee looked at the ensuing chaos and raised an eyebrow. "Rather anticlimactic. Just as a safety precaution, I'd stay away from him when he wakes up . . . and keep his guns unloaded." he said, walking over to the unconscious Cajun. Rolling the man on his back, he picked up his guns, he unloaded the bullets, putting them back in the swamper's bandolier and reholstered them. Looking at Kai, he smiled, holding the gun in his hand. "He's always been overprotective of these. They're family heirlooms." he said, telling the tale of how Arell and Dundee's ancestor fought in the Civil War. How he went down shooting at the group of Union soldiers that had ambushed his friend who was wounded in the war and died the moment he dragged him back to camp. His friend was Jonah Hex. Hex returned the pistols to Arell's family when he went through Louisiana on his travels. C.J., deeming it safe to come down (aside from Dundee's potent voodoo-ish solution), climbed down the tree and walked over to Crystal. Sitting down next to her, he sighed. "Damn . . . all that crap from the last couple days got to his head. Penny for your thoughts, Crys'?" he asked.

Kai released Arell from the grip, a safe place to stop in the healing of his soul. She jumped back off of him as he was set safely on the ground and as soon as the pistols were taken away and he was rolled to lay on his back she moved into a crouch next to him, unafraid of the time he could wake up.
"I call him, Thief. The other man we saw earlier. It's what the priests yell at him anyway when he runs from the safe zones. He injured Arell's soul, his human soul. That's probably another reason for his actions."
She looked down at Arell and put her hand on his shoulder.
"I've never seen Arell like that, and wouldn't want to see that again. This world is great for giving curses, but also for removing them since this world soley exists for magic. Not even time existshere."

Dundee nodded. "Arell . . . he's a guy who doesn't usually let loose about things. I'm no psychologist, but he's essentially tried to close himself up to rage and all that to prevent that instinct from happening." he said. Placing the potion into a bottle, he got up.
"I assume when Thief tried to take Arell's soul, he damaged the part that was holding the Animalistic behavior of the curse put upon him." he said, thinking. Something in his face said that he had seen this before.
He looked at Arell, then back up at Kai. "The bottle I put next to him contains a potion. Something I learned from a healer that went to college with. I can't say WHAT it is, but it's got some calming herbs in it. Mostly to keep the big guy from . . . flying off the handle. Especially when he knows you two put a number on him." he said, looking back and forth between Kesshou and Kai. For some reason, Dundee the lovable dumbass didn't seem too stupid at this point.

"Calming is good, if and when he gets up I will have him take some."
She reached down through the center of Arell's chest with one hand and concentrated on stitching together the parts of his soul that were wounded. Her arm began to glow internally a little, if anyone were paying attention they could see a slight glow through the sleeve of her costume. Arell's chest had a small glow to it as well. Stitching a soul, was like trying to pull together cloth without thread, it could really hold in place as long as the person wished it to be there. Of course it could be permanently put back together, if Kai was in her full form, but was able to control it, or if Arell took a bit of the immortally cursed water she had or... if he took a dip in the Lazarus pit... none of which seemed like a viable option. After she pulled together and loosely attacked the pieces of his soul that were ripped at the hands of the Thief she took her hand from Arell standing up. There was a long awkward pause as she did this work, and it only felt like, probably because it was something she didn't rather enjoy... Especially if it's touching the Thief's handy work. It reminded her of the horrible ways she used to do the same thing.
