Molly patted Deryk once more, before releasing him to turn her attention to the group of Mists gathering. Oh yay! Molly was oddly excited for this. She had seen the Moons get a pep talk, and then the Suns get a pep talk, and she really wanted a pep talk too! She knew as a Mist, she was expected to fill any roll that was needed…but how was she suppose to know what they needed? They’d tell her, right? Hopefully? Was a large part of it left to their discretion, she wondered. She’d wait for Candace to speak first though. She might end up answering a lot of her questions.

"Oh! Hello, Tori," Sasha flashed the other woman a smile. "I'm Sasha. Life Trainee.. as ah.. I'm.. I'm sure you've noticed." Sasha tugged at her jacket with one hand and proceeded to tuck a piece of her hair back behind her ear with the other. "It's really nice to meet you."

Harrison had more confidence than Marcus in this and it showed. "Alternatively." Marcus began, voice hesitant, "You pull the injured off to the side and heal them. Act as barrier so they might do it to themselves. Moons act defensively, so when some one needs healing? We're supposed to be able to do that. If someone is in danger, assist. Know your skill set. You can't heal? You defend. We're often paired off with suns for a reason. If any of you have clearance for runic bandages or daggers, get them." Looking at Ami he shook his head, frowning. "Your guess sadly, is as good as mine. But from the number of hunters, the fact it didn't come from a lead or a senior hunter...and the events leading up to this? I'd say it's a safe bet this isn't training anymore." He cast a look towards the more senior hunters present, who looked just if not more anxious. "I can't say what we might face but if it's any consolation, I think everyone is a bit afraid."

Jeremy made a face at the mere idea, but went right back to smiling in an almost stepford way.
"Of course you're not, no offense but you're not my type~" The blonde said happily, shrugging. Not that he made a habit of going after boys, but...eh, some of them were fun to button press. "But it wouldn't hurt to amuse him so he'll at least shut up about this." He gestured towards the circle of fists before adding, almost mockingly. "Buddy~" He stretched out an arm, bumping fists with whomever had joined the little 'circle' by that point.
Wow, it's been a while since he'd seen these faces last...it almost made him feel guilty. Almost.

His entire posture tensed up as the other sun either intentionally or unintentionally hit him right on the rawest of nerves. He was stressed out enough that the jibe about his sexuality was enough to make him fly way off the handle.
"Right. That's it. No. I don't need this s**t. Not today of all days."
He had to walk away right now or he would try to hit the other guy and start a ruckus. Not on a mission. He pointed. "******** you."
Then to Jerry. "And ******** being cheery about this."
And then turned to walk away to stand at the edge of the gathered hunters.

"Yep," Harrison said. ...That was all he had to say, really. Heal, defend, good deal.
Speaking of suns.
"Okay. Gonna go talk to some people. You have any questions, Marcus and Dakota can uh, answer them, probably." Harrison headed towards the part of the field with inspirational singing.

"H-Hey Leon," Deryk grinned to the boxer before looking towards Molly. He waved to her briefly, then began to fidget back in place once again. Most likely, their debriefing will begin soon.

{ 04.01.2012 10:00 am } Word of the mission had spread like wildfire. There was not a single person, not even a trainee who did not know what this particular mission entailed. And yet, as the training grounds filled out even more, as the last few stragglers slowly filed in, they still spoke in hushed whispers. Scared. Afraid of someone else listening.
It was chilly that morning, the sun slowly peering through the fog, casting long shadows. Finally, they showed up, four division leaders, four division assistants. They parted the crowd without a single word, moving to the center of the assembly.
"Headsets." Caelius commanded, not waiting for someone to distribute them. "Debriefing will begin. We will begin our planned long-term mission against the Four Clans. All Hunters and trainees will move to their assigned teams. You will work to support your team until further orders." Again, the Death Hunter leader was, even in front of over a hundred Hunters vague. Several Hunters looked at each other, a little nervously.
"I will take the time to remind everyone of their roles. Do not undermine the actions of others. You will stand and you will fight. If one of you so much as turn coward and walk away, you are only prolonging your own inevitable ******** death and endangering everyone you know: the Four Clans do not play fair so neither will we. If the gravity of the situation has not persuaded you, then perhaps this might: you are Hunters, many of you upon arriving here promised something. Safety of others. Shelter. Belonging. Becoming something greater. How many of you have actually fulfilled your own promises?" That look. "I assure you that second when you are fearless even against death that you will understand exactly what it means to be a Hunter."
The words were no surprise to anyone: they had long discarded their old lives. They could be nothing else but a Hunter. They only had one direction to go, and they knew it themselves.
"Sun and Moon Hunter teams two and three will go as backup to the Sahara post with Allan. All remaining Mist Hunters are with Aria. Life standby team with H. Death surveillance team with me. Everyone else will wait for further orders. We are still currently in the preparation phase, the execution phase will be planned to coincide with the Four Clans final assembly. Until then, it is our purpose, to appear off guard and distracted. Everyone is dismissed from the debriefing."
The Death Hunter leader exchanged a few quick, terse words with the other leads before moving away, leaving the trainees still dismissed and unaccounted for. It wasn't until Allan walked over to them, giving them a thumbs up, that they realized they were actually part of any sort of mission.
"Hey shinigami, you're coming with us. Defense Sahara team and all that." He nodded to Simon. "Kay, let's get the equipment set up, those runic weapons charged, then we're ready to go." A pause. "Oh, and stay behind us once we go in. Be careful."
A team of Sun and Moon Hunters were waiting for the trainees and their leads, equipment in the stages of preparation. Everyone else seemed preoccupied. OOC - All trainees will be given a few moments (12 OOC hours) to PREPARE for the mission to the Sahara (again). Make sure all runic equipment is secured, weapons are okay. Feel free to contact Allan or Simon (quoting lizbot or zoobey) if your trainee has any IC concerns regarding preparation . - ALL NPCS are assumed to be here, (leads + assistants). If a GM posts, any player is free to also interact with them/ ask them questions

Madison listened to the speech with more than usual intensity - she wanted, so badly, to be fearless. To fulfill, to really understand what it meant to be a Hunter. For everything to be worth it- -but mostly to be fearless, because she was so afraid right now. After Caelius had finished speaking, Madison quickly took the last few steps to Ennea's side and reached out to squeeze the girl's shoulder, lightly. "Hey - Death together, that's good. You're with me. I'll stick with you," she said, quietly. She used her free hand to retrieve her phone and started typing out a single text, sending it to one particular group in her phone's address book. to Phoenix Squad b safe, u guys. plz be safe. <3333 pheonx rises.

Ariane had received the message, and had arrived; however, despite the familiar faces and the familiar voices of people around here, she couldn't find someone she felt she could talk to... Especially since she had heard rumors about how dangerous or something this mission was; the details were fuzzy at best, but the word 'Sahara' caught her attention.
Wasn't that where-
Suddenly, the fact that this mission mobilizes so many hunters made sense, and she had to wonder if that monster they fought before was still there, waiting; maybe she should go pick up those runic weapons after all. Who knows when they might come in handy?

"I know," said Gale, his voice low and quiet, only for Candace to hear. His eyes flickered upwards, a slight frown on his face - the only sign of his disconcert, other than his unexpected affection. But he did not want her to worry about him, even though he knew she would.
He caught her sleeve just before she walked away.
"Candace," he said seriously. "You too. Call me if you need anything."
Then he stepped up on his tiptoes, kissed her cheek, and disappeared before she could say anything, stepping back towards Davey and the others.
Davey, who was apparently having some sort of disagreement with his weapon - bitchblade, as he called it. Gale's eyes flickered over towards the older hunter as he folded his arms across his chest, wearily rubbing one hand over his face.
He felt tired. It wasn't even that early, but he had not slept well.
Caelius' voice - as imperious and aloof sounding as always - snapped out through the dismal, foggy air as he strode through with the other division leaders. Gale watched him with an inscrutable expression, his lips pressing together as he listened to the lecture given. He was used to this - too used to Caelius' disregard for anything other than what he was there for, too used to everything by now.
"...Sun and Moon Hunter teams two and three will go as backup to the Sahara post with Allan..."
Everything seemed to collide inside of his head, Gale's body jerking soundlessly. He heard the rest of Caelius' words as if through a filter, stuck on that one word, that one location.
Sahara.
It slammed into him like a lightning bolt. A voice rang in his head, echoing from long months past.
"Oh hey! There's a Death Hunter and he's not busy!"
No, thought Gale. His mind was already working to put up his mental shields, throwing them into place desperately, keeping himself from going down that path again, from drowning in those black memories. His thoughts were in chaos, but he remained outwardly calm, feeling his heart thud erratically against his ribcage.
<< Gale. >> Jinhai sounded quiet, slightly tense. << Breathe. Relax. Don't think about it. >>
There it was, his mantra again. Gale closed his eyes briefly, inhaling slowly.
Don't think about it.

The Sahara. They were going to the Sahara. Cass took a deep breath, but she listened - intent. Sorry Nicodemus, but it sounded like the idea of cutting out and trying to not get herself killed wasn't a plan. They had to tough it out. They had to... they had to not die. Yes. She had to live... Marcus...
She didn't want last night to be the...last..night. This morning to be the last morning. It made her gut heavy, even as she started to look around for things that she needed to pick up, to get herself prepped on before she left. She made a point to get her knife secured to her belt, she checked for her bandages again, she got a headset. She.... tried to not look nervous. Fearless in the face of death?
Cass was going to have to work on that. She wanted to go find Marcus, maybe just kiss him and tell him to be safe. No, she couldn't distract him. They couldn't be distracted. She needed to go find Aria.
Deep breaths, Cass. Deep breaths.
She made a point to breathe as therapeutically as she could as she went to go join the division lead.

A hand briefly touched Gale's back, and then was gone. As she walked past the younger hunter, Clarice gave him a small smile of encouragement before turning back to Dr. H, quietly discussing several proposed changes in warding arrays.

Wilson smiled at Sherry. “Thanks.” He was pleased to see that Aleister had gestured for a certain mist trainee to join them. He waved at Sydney as she joined their group. “Hey Sydney!” The trainee would have continued talking, but the appearance of the division leaders and assistants silenced him. Unsurprisingly, Caelius took command of the debriefing and Wilson failed to stop himself from scowling. Despite Caelius being his own division leader Wilson didn’t appreciate the man’s attitude and way of doing things. He had an inclination to make things vague, and today was no exception. Sighing, the trainee shifted his weight from one foot to the other. Would Caelius make sense soon? Probably not.
He clenched his fists as Caelius continued with his lecture. Cowardice. He had spent so many years being afraid, but maybe for once he could be brave and make a difference.
When Allan walked over to the trainees, Wilson eyed him with confusion until the sun leader began to talk. He was returning to the Sahara. Wilson squeezed his eyes shut at the revelation. Nononono that was where— He took a deep breath. Now was not the time to be afraid. Wilson couldn’t afford that today. Quietly, Wilson nodded his head and muttered, “Yessir.”

A hand landed on his back, very gently, startling Gale out of his inner turmoil. He glanced up, slightly taken aback to find that it had been Clarice; her smile was quiet as she stepped past him, already moving back to Doctor H.
His throat constricted, just a little.
But her support touched him. Gale offered her a small smile in return, giving her a tiny nod in thanks before turned back to Allan and the others.
