It seemed that, for a moment at least, Alex and Roll had managed to comfort the sad little Charmander. It’d stopped wailing for a moment, at any rate. Looking at the little Charmander, though, it was obvious that they were dealing with the calm before the storm.

“Don’t cry, please don’t-”

Alex jumped at the sudden squeak, while Roll spun on her heel to get a better look. The Larvitar herself let out a cry, rather surprised by the sudden appearance of a human with a notebook. She gazed up wide-eyed at the brunette before turning back toward her trainer.

The poor blond had never been this confused in her life. The brunette appeared to be an artist, judging by the way she was assaulting her sketchbook with her pencil. She knelt beside Roll, utterly flustered. It was kind of weird to see someone who was even more to meet her Larvitar than she was a few months ago. She stammered over her words for a moment, watching the cheery artist start attaining the Rock Skin pokemon’s measurements. “Um, well, she used to eat soil,” Alex started, watching Roll as she tried to circle around the mysterious human to see what she was writing down on her sketch pad, but a hand to the shoulder stopped the little Larvitar in her tracks. “But she mostly eats pokemon food now,” she muttered, wondering if she’d have to feed Roll iron ore or something now, and where she’d managed to find it. She did know one thing though. This girl knew an awful lot about pokemon.

In the meantime, Roll had noticed that one of the girl’s pokemon had freed itself. She cheerfully growled in response. She always had fun meeting new people, even if they were a little weird. Of course, it would’ve helped if the rattata could’ve heard. She was so excited about the talk of food and meeting a new friend that she’d forgotten about her old new friend. Roll shuddered and ran behind Alexis when she heard the horrible shriek that Charmander had loosed, as if the tiny blond could stop a sound that could wake up a snorlax. Heck, Alex could’ve sword she felt her defenses drop.

“Shh, no, calm down!” She patted the Charmander on the head, getting far closer to an ear splitting sound than she ever would’ve liked. Whatever it would’ve taken to stop that noise.

Once more Kasiya had trekked back to the Pokemon Center, if only to fill the nurse in with what had become of Calliope, the newest addition to Kasiya's team. The nurse had admittedly been a bit worried due to the disappearing Tropius' actions, but knowing that she now resided with a kind, caring trainer made her feel much better. Kasiya changed her party around for what felt like the umpteenth time in her career as a trainer, this time opting to send Adamantine back to Professor Oak's place for a while. The Pupitar hadn't had much of a rest since her evolution from a tiny Larvitar, so she figured now was as good a time as any.

Kasiya introduced Calliope to the rest of her party, though none of her Pokemon were more thrilled than Rosemary to have a new companion with them. The two Grass-types were already BFF's, though Kasiya couldn't help but hope that Leviathan wouldn't get jealous over Rosemary's new friend. Fang seemed to really like the idea of having another Flying-type in the group, and though (surprisingly enough) he did remember losing to Winona's Tropius, the loopy Crobat didn't seem to hold a grudge (or perhaps he wasn't capable of holding one, Kasiya wasn't too sure). Twilight seemed rather indifferent but inclined his head in a polite greeting anyway; Alphonse puffed out his chest at the newcomer and tried to look intimidating (but failed), and Nova simply gave a small wave.

Once the Pokemon were all acquainted with one another, Kasiya again tried to pick a destination, but found herself having difficulty choosing. Despite the fact that it had been a while since her last gym match, she wasn't really feeling up to going after another Hoenn badge at the moment. That, and the next badge she wanted to win was a Volcano Badge from Blaine on Cinnabar Island, but she didn't want to face that fight without Shocker by her side. She wanted to head back to Kanto, but she felt that Sirrus, the only Pokemon she trusted to carry her that far, had done enough flying in the past twenty four hours and deserved a good rest. "I guess we're staying in Hoenn for a little while longer," the girl sighed.

What, a challenger already?! Misty thought, stifling a yawn as she headed out poolside. Really, she'd only just got here about twenty minutes ago, and she hadn't even had a chance to check on any of the aquarium Pokemon yet. Regardless, it was her job to accept any and all challenges, even if they were ridiculously early in the morning. "All right, all right, I'm here, keep your skirt on," she called back, trying to keep the annoyance out of her voice. She yawned once again and looked around, studying her challenger (or challengers, maybe, as there were two people here). The tall girl with dark hair, and obviously the one who'd issued the challenge, seemed very familiar to her somehow, but Misty couldn't quite remember why. "Good morning," she said, giving the two trainers a wave. "I'm Misty, the Cerulean Gym Leader, and as such, it's my duty to accept your challenge!" As the girl spoke, she removed the light jacket she wore, revealing a one-piece swimsuit beneath it. She nodded at the girl. "You might wanna change into your swimsuit, if you have one. Otherwise, your clothes will get soaked," she added as she pointed toward a set of doors that lead to a row of changing stalls. Aside from being an official gym, this building also housed the largest aquarium in Kanto, and the very pool where the gym battle would be held was also often used as a regular swimming pool, open to the public. While her challenger changed, Misty used the time to call up the referee, as no gym match could go on without one of those.

'I don't believe it,' Jasper thought, watching in bewilderment as the Mushroom Pokemon scuttled forward and swiped a pointed claw across the Slowpoke's face. True to Slowpoke nature, it didn't seem to notice right away, as it had only just started to notice the poison it had suffered a little while ago, and its face twisted in a sickly expression as the toxins began to eat away at its stamina. 'That's not my Paras, is it?' Jasper looked over at Totodile, who was watching intently. Seeing her trainer's confused expression, Totodile simply nodded in reply. Yes, that was their Paras, being all brave and courageous as it hopped to the side to avoid a sudden Tackle from the poisoned pink Pokemon. Jasper wanted to say something, but he was afraid he'd startle Paras and throw him off. 'Go get it, Paras,' he thought, smiling, and looked to Totodile, holding a finger to his lips. The gator grinned and nodded, clamping her mouth shut with her little hands.

Slowpoke was slowly starting to get annoyed by this little mushroomy punk, but it was also feeling quite sick because of the poison. Once again it opened its mouth and sprayed Paras with a Water Gun, this one having a little more force behind it. Paras cried out, but shook it off as the water was relatively harmless to it, if not a little refreshing. For the first time possibly in its life, Paras' eyes narrowed and it charged forward, stabbing one of its little claws into the Slowpoke's side. The Dopey Pokemon began to glow with a faint red while Paras was engulfed by a healthy green. Jasper wasn't sure what had happened, but the Slowpoke was looking weaker and weaker while Paras seemed to be doing quite well.

Hayley's smile never faltered as her pencil danced across the page of her sketchbook, darkening her base lines and being sure to capture the curious look in the Larvitar's eyes. "There's nothing wrong with Pokemon food," the brunette said, her green eyes looking up from her page for only a second to glance a the small blonde girl. "But if you can, you should go for the iron-enriched kind. Trust me, you won't regret it," she added. Her tone was cheerful and kind, as she only had the Pokemon's well-being in mind, and once she had a good outline of the little rock type finished, she tucked her pencil behind an ear. Before she could get a chance to showcase her sketch, the upset Charmander had let out an ear-splitting little cry that made Hayley's arms prickle with goosebumps. The noise startled the normally brave Mya, who darted off to hide behind her trainer.

"Aww, don't cry, little guy!" the girl said, setting her book on the ground and digging around in her backpack, apparently undeterred by the fire type's yell. She withdrew a small canister and popped off the lid before she pulled out a handful of small cookies and proceeded to hand them out. She gave one to Roll, and one to Gigas, though of course she didn't yet know their names, and she handed one to Alex as well. "Go on, eat up! My mom made them," Hayley said brightly, also giving one to the Rattata that had scurried up onto her shoulder.

It was late morning now, and Kasiya really didn't want to head back to the Pokemon Center for any reason, so she opted to keep moving, though this time, instead of heading south from Fortree, she went east. She hadn't bothered to recall any of her Pokemon, so it was quite a sight to see the blonde haired girl walking through a town made up of mostly tree houses, followed by her Pokemon. Every now and then Fang would swoop down and try to glomp her like he always did, but Kasiya had developed a sixth "Fang" sense that seemed to tell her just when to duck. It may have been cute for Fang to cling to the back of her head when he was still a tiny little Zubat, but now that he was as big as he was, well, it just wouldn't end nicely, at least for her.

As predicted, Rosemary and Calliope were walking side-by-side, chattering to each other. Alphonse walked behind the two Grass-types, giving them the evil eye, though whenever one of them would look back at him he'd change his expression to a neutral one and pretend like he wasn't doing anything suspicious. Nova and Twilight remained close to their trainer; Nova due to the 'mama' complex she had with her trainer, and Twilight simply because he currently preferred the human's company to that of the other Pokemon - another trait he seemed to share with his Electric-type brother. The group wandered for a while before coming to a stop, and Kasiya realized that if they continued along this route, it would eventually take them to Lilycove City. It had really only been a few days since the Breeder's Gala and the ferry that took her and her friends to Sinnoh, but so much had happened in those few days that it felt like several years. As much as Kasiya would love to return to Sinnoh, and perhaps win some of the nifty badges like Haruka had, it seemed silly to head back there, only to have to return to Kanto to go through with her rescue plans.

Her rescue plans? So far, Kasiya didn't even have a plan, other than simply 'get Shocker back.' She'd said it in her mind many times now but she was still having trouble believing herself. She figured her best option was to essentially storm the place, like she had before when she'd made a daring (and stupid) attempt to retrieve Kilik's Scyther from Giovanni. Her ankle ached for a second with the ghostly reminiscence of how that had not ended well at all, and she frowned. Attacking the main base of Team Rocket on her own had been a bad idea then, but now, she had much stronger Pokemon, and a basic understanding of the layout of the Viridian Gym/base. She smiled to herself, thinking that perhaps that previous effort hadn't been in vain after all. She'd be more prepared this time. The Rockets, namely Giovanni himself, wouldn't know what hit them. All I need to do now is figure out which Pokemon I'll use when I'm ready, she thought, wondering how much bribing would need to be done in order to get Ariel to join her cause. The Vaporeon's recent refusals to rejoin her party hadn't gone forgotten in the blonde's mind, but she hoped that the prospect of helping to rescue her best friend would bring Ariel around. With Ariel being her very first Pokemon, and Shocker being the first Pokemon she'd captured, she wouldn't feel complete until the three of them were reunited.

It wasn't that Robin was bored listening to the girls explanation as to why there was a forest in the gym. It was more along the fact that she didn't really understand the whole concept. In the end even with the description she decided to chalk it up to the whole magic of pokemon thing. It sure was amazing no matter what the reason was! When they reached the big grassy arena Robin's bright blue eyes grew even wider as she took in the luscious green grass and how perfectly manicured it was! She didn't know a lot about plants but even she knew that this was pretty awesome! The redhead watched as her new friend went to go get the gym leader. What the girl said next blew Robin's mind away.

Her new friend was the gym leader! Wow! She didn't even know! Tony Tony had said that this gym was tricky but even she had no idea that it would be full of this many tricks! She was really going to watch her back here if she was going to win this battle. At her side Luffy looked just as shocked as she was. The two of them weren't really used to, or really understood the concept of deception all that well. "Your the gym leader? Oh! I am sorry I did not recognize you! I was told that this gym would be tricky but you just showed me how tricky you grass type trainers can be!" She gave Gardenia a serious face as she spoke before giving her a smile. "Since you introduced yourself though I think I should introduce myself as well! My name is Robin, Robin Knight, and I am here to challenge you to a gym battle!"

As Crenu accompanied Riza to the gym he looked around at the empty building, it seemed they had indeed beaten any other gym challengers, or gym trainers for that matter, by a large margin. As they entered Crenu could smell the heavy scent of chlorine, the air was saturated with moisture and considering the type of building that this gym was, it wasn't a surprise. It wasn't long before a red head showed up answering the call, their early arrival not lost in her tone and the way she yawed, Crenu just crossed his arms and listened as she gave an introduction. "Swimsuit? Hmm, guess that makes sense." He said as he glanced at Riza, not sure if she even had one right now. "Anyway, I'll be observing over there. Good luck." He said as he pointed to the bleachers that were poolside, similar to the ones you would find at a pool used for swim meets and the like. Not wanting to get soaked himself he sat on the higher bench further to the back, getting a good view of the entire arena. Arms still crossed he waited and watched.

((for the remainder of said gym match Crenu is just gonna sit and watch quietly, post away. Sorry for le short post but I can't type another portion yet and don't wanna delay you any further.))

Truth be told, Riza wasn't sure what she was expecting when the gym leader finally arrived and introduced herself, and though it wasn't that surprising to see the red headed girl wearing a bathing suit considering it was most definitely a water-type gym. She looked over at Shiro as he decided to make this his exit point and he headed over the bleachers to watch. "Thanks," she said, smirking a bit before looking back at Misty. "Um, all right, sure," she said, looking over to the area Misty had pointed out. Taking a deep breath, the raven haired girl started walking in that direction. She stepped through the doors, her nose wrinkling from the continual chlorine smell and she picked a stall and closed the door behind her. It took longer than she liked to fish her own swim suit out of the bottom of her bag, where it had sat since she'd last worn it at the beach party. Once she found it, it took her virtually no time to change into it, and a few moments later, she emerged from the change rooms, clad in her black and white bikini. She'd also tied her hair back into a loose ponytail, and she smiled to herself as she remembered how she used to wear it all pinned up. "All right, I'm ready," she said, the belt that held her poke balls looking a little out of place around her slender waist. 'Here we go,' she thought, her fingers lightly touching the sphere she planned to throw first.

Gardenia couldn't help but laugh at Robin's shock over her identity, and she waved off the apology. "Nah, don't be sorry. I'm the one who's sorry for not telling you the truth right away. Anyway! Enough of all that, it's time to get down to business! Robin Knight, as the league-sanctioned leader of the Eterna Gym, I, Gardenia, accept your challenge!" Ooh, she was quite excited! Gym battles were always fun, and she practically hopped up and down as one of her gym followers stepped forward to be the referee.

"The official gym match between the Gym Leader, Gardenia, and the challenger, Robin, is about to begin!" she called. "Each side will use three Pokemon each, with no items! There is also no time limit, and only the challenger will be permitted to switch out their Pokemon. Begin!" She raised up a red and green flag in the air, signalling the start of the match.

"Ohh, it's so exciting," Gardenia cheered as she took out her first poke ball and threw it. "Turtwig, you're up first!" The spirited little grass-type appeared in a flash, looking just about as eager as its trainer. "You can have the first move, Robin!" Gardenia called out.

It's not the destination that's important, it's all in the journey, Kasiya told herself as she walked along, her full party still in tow. The problem with that mantra was that right now, the destination was the point, and that point seemed so very far away right now. Kasiya had considered contacting her friends, as she knew they'd answer her call to arms and help, and as tempted as she was, she decided against it. Her friends had been through enough in the past while, and they deserved to have a little time off. Not to mention let some of their wounds heal and rest up, as she knew some of them were in dire need of it. More to the point, she wanted to do this by herself, and for herself. She needed to prove to herself that she was capable of doing things on her own, and that she didn't always need to rely on everyone else. She didn't think they'd understand, particularly Mike and Keegan, but she didn't need them to, nor did she need their permission. If they didn't understand now, they'd understand someday. Assuming, of course, that she could even pull this off.

She didn't even know what route she was currently traveling on, but she didn't really care, and she walked until it was just after lunch time. She had wanted to do some training, but hunger was more of an issue right now, but sadly enough, she didn't have much for food on her. As luck would have it, however, Calliope seemed to have a nose for berries and before long, Kasiya and her Pokemon had stumbled into an Oran Berry grove. There were more than enough plump and juicy ripe ones to give everyone their fill, though as she watched, Nova and Alphonse seemed to be trying to outdo the other by seeing who could eat the most. Nova, being the larger of the two had an advantage, even though she'd skewer a berry on one of her claws and roast it before eating it, she was easily taking on two to Alphonse's one. The prideful Piplup somehow managed to stuff one last berry into his mouth, though he was barely able to chew and swallow before he toppled over backwards, too full to move, let alone eat another bite and Nova flashed a toothy grin to celebrate her victory. Kasiya sighed and recalled the Piplup into his Pokeball, as he'd already slipped into food-coma mode and she knew he'd be too sleepy and lethargic for training right now. She then studied the remaining five Pokemon, trying to figure out the best way to train with them.

"With Ada back at the lab for now, that leaves Fang as the only higher-levelled Pokemon on the roster right now," Kasiya murmured, realizing it was a scary thought to be relying on the dimwitted Crobat as her protector. She quickly took that thought back, however, as she recalled him swooping in to the rescue to help her defeat and capture Casimir, and she had a second realization, though this one was that while the bond between her and the Crobat was a tad unorthodox, it was there, and it was a strong one. After all, if they hadn't formed such a bond, Fang would never have evolved from a Golbat to Crobat in the first place. "I have an idea!" she said, watching the green-coloured bat fly circles around an oddly-shaped Oran Berry bush. "Rosemary and Calliope, you two can practice your Razor Leaf attacks by using Fang for target practice. Fang, you can get better at dodging by, uh, well, dodging their attacks. You guys understand?" There were two coos and one screech to signify that they understood, and before Kasiya knew it, the Tropius and Meganium were taking turns sending volleys of their razor-sharp leaves at the Crobat. Fang was certainly fast and didn't have much trouble avoiding them, though Kasiya did see Calliope's attack hit him head on as he had a moment of idiocy and forgot he was supposed to be dodging.
=-=-=-=-=

Misty giggled a bit as her challenger, who had yet to introduce herself, headed off to the changing area. She then glanced over at the blonde boy that had entered with her, it seemed he had no intentions of getting even a drop of water at him, judging by where he'd positioned himself in the bleachers. By the time the dark-haired girl had returned, and wearing a skimpy black and white two-piece, no less, the ref, a moderately attractive surfer-boy, had joined them. "All right, dudes and dudettes," he said, glancing between the two girls at opposite ends of the pool, "let's get this official Gym Match underway! The leader of the Cerulean Gym, Misty, versus the babe-a-licious challenger in black and white! Three Pokemon per side, no time limit, no items, no switching! Without further adieu, let's go already!" He raised his arms, which seemed to be his way of starting the match.

"All right, Liam, thanks for that," Misty muttered, unhooking her first Pokeball from the bracelet she wore on her left wrist. "Misty calls Goldeen!" she shouted, throwing the sphere high into the air. It burst open, and as the light formed it fell, splashing into the water to reveal the goldfish Pokemon. It jumped from the water, showcasing its gorgeous fins. Goldeen's looking good, Misty thought, smiling as she waited for her challenger to select her first Pokemon.

Oh, so she'd forgotten to introduce herself, oh well. Riza couldn't hold back her smile at the referee's comment, and she shrugged. "It's Riza," she called back. "But yeah, thanks." She didn't know why, but she liked the atmosphere in this gym. It was much different from the gym in Vermilion, where even the air felt electrified and tense. Misty was also a much different gym leader than Lt. Surge, and it just went to show that Riza still had a lot to learn about gym leaders.

She watched as the Goldeen was released, swimming elegantly in the pool, and she frowned. She'd intended to use Plua first, but water bound Pokemon would make for a difficult opponent for the Fearow. So, instead she snatched up Faustus' poke ball and let it fly. "Time to shine," she said as the Dratini appeared on one of the floating mats. He looked around a bit shyly, but when he saw it was only Riza and some other girl at the end of the water, he felt much better. He hadn't yet noticed the fish swimming around in the water below him. "Faustus, start off with Agility," Riza said. The Dratini, a bit confused as to why he'd be using a move right now, obeyed regardless, allowing his serpentine body to relax. He felt much faster now, and only then did he see the glimmer of white and orange beneath the water's surface.

With those three taken care of, and Alphonse snoozing away inside his Pokeball, that meant that only Twilight and Nova remained. The Umbreon and Charmeleon had already realized this and were eying one another warily. Kasiya wasn't sure if matching those two up as sparring partners was a good idea, but she figured that the two Pokemon would work it out some how. "How about you two have a practice match?" she suggested. "You can act for yourselves but I'll throw in suggestions now and then." The Fire and Dark-types both looked at her with wide eyes, and the girl smiled. "Hey! Being able to think for yourself is a valuable skill too! I know you both have the talent, I saw you do it earlier in our battle against Haruka! It's time to hone our skills!"

The mere mention of Haruka's name caused Nova to growl and breath out a small puff of angry flames. She was still quite angry about being defeated by that overgrown water bird, and she wanted nothing more than to get strong enough to have her revenge some day. Twilight was oblivious to the Charmeleon's agenda of revenge, but simply sat quite still, studying his 'opponent' carefully. It was certainly safe to say that Nova was rash and didn't always think things through, and though this was only a practice match, the clever Umbreon was certain that he could use her impatience to his advantage. He was a little surprised at himself for thinking the way he was, as battles hadn't been something he participated in much before Kasiya had become his trainer. The more he did battle, however, the more he liked them, but the fact that he'd lost the last one left a painful sting in his chest (and he could still feel a slight bruise from where the Prinplup's final Brick Break had struck him). He'd won a few battles before, and after experiencing the pain of defeat today, he never wanted to lose again.

Without waiting for Kasiya to give the word, the black and blue-striped quadruped raced into action. Umbreon were not the fastest in the Eevee-evolution family, but they could all move pretty fast when they used Quick Attack, a move they all had in common, and he was holding true to his family line. Nova hadn't even really realized what was happening until it was too late, and she was side-swiped by a black and blue blur. The attack itself was only grazing, but it did knock her off balance, and she didn't see Twilight swerve around and double back for her until he'd repeated his attack to her other side, and the Charmeleon found herself on the ground, staring up at a bright, blue sky. Even Kasiya had almost missed the Umbreon's sneaky attack, but she clapped and hopped up and down. "Nice work, Twilight!" she called, which prompted Nova to shoot her an annoyed, and almost hurt glare.
=-=-=-=-=

It wasn't until the girl finally said her name that Misty finally realized why she seemed familiar. Her challenger today was the girl that had won the contest last night! That news was a little bit unsettling to the gym leader, as she'd been present at that contest so she knew just how good Riza was, at least at contest battling. This is a different stage entirely, she thought, watching as Riza released a Dratini, of all things, onto one of the floating mats. The redhead bit her lip, but said nothing, instead focused on her Pokemon's position beneath the water. Admittedly, she had no real strategy to deal with dragons, at least not with Goldeen, but she wasn't about to give up without trying. That wasn't how Misty played this game!

"Goldeen, Horn Attack!" she called, her voice loud, and authoritative. Goldeen easily heard his trainer's voice even though he was submerged, and seemingly out of nowhere, he was jumping up out of the water, his large, pointed horn aimed for the Dratini. Take that! the gym leader thought, grinning.

Riza had no idea that Misty was even at last night's contest, so she was oblivious to the gym leader's unease, no matter how fleeting. Riza's grey eyes were fixed solidly on Faustus, wondering to herself if the two new moves she'd taught him would be useful at all during this match. Upon hearing the call for Horn Attack, Riza stood up a little taller, trying to catch the position of the Goldeen as it sprang out of the water. "Faustus, dodge it, quick!" she shouted, and the Dratini quickly slid off to the side of the mat he was resting on. The edges were wet so it wasn't surprising that he ended up sliding right off the mat and landing in the water with a splash.

Luckily, the Dratini was used to being underwater, as he'd trained with Clair in the large, underground lake that was present within the Dragon's den, and now he had a clear view of the Goldeen swimming along in the water with him. Riza wasn't so happy with this, as she hadn't planned to have Faustus go in the water just yet, but there wasn't anything she could do about it now. It'd waste too much time having him jump out of the water and back up onto the mat again.

Flames were already leaking from the Charmeleon's closed mouth as she got back to her feat, her fiery tail lashing and leaving a scorched path in its wake. Kasiya hadn't actually given any commands yet, and that was just fine for Nova. Her mouth gaped open and she shot a concentrated jet of fire at Twilight, very much hoping that the Umbreon was not fireproof. The Umbreon was most certainly not immune to fire, though for a fleeting moment he almost wished he'd chosen to evolve into a Flareon as Nova's attack engulfed him. He grit his teeth and hunkered down, realizing that Nova was still young, and that her level must have been a good amount below his, otherwise he'd be hurting a lot more. The Dark-type shook off the last few embers from his body, grateful that he hadn't sustained a burn, but his eyes narrowed in focus. A second pair of hit-and-run Quick Attacks probably wouldn't fool the Charmeleon a second time, but he knew that getting close to her could be quite risky, especially with her ability to spew fire everywhere.

Meanwhile, Rosemary had taken the backseat as she watched the team's newest addition use her powerful, leafy wings to fire another set of Razor Leaves at the wacky Crobat. Fang had dodged pretty much all of them since his first little slip up, as sometimes a little pain could cause the batty creature to focus a little bit more. Calliope, enjoying her training though becoming slightly annoyed that she couldn't land a hit, lashed one leafy wing forward, shooting off a small flurry of leaves, and with her other wing sent a sharp Gust of wind forward. The Gust collided with the Razor Leaf, giving it a boost to its momentum, and this time the attack was far too fast for Fang to evade. The leaves scored a direct hit and the Crobat screeched, more out of annoyance than pain before he circled around and landed, apparently in need of a little break. Rosemary moved forward, apparently quite impressed by Calliope's thoughtfulness (and a tiny bit envious that she couldn't fly, as well). Turning to the Crobat, Rosemary closed her eyes, her lovely flower petals all shimmering with a healthy green glow. A nice, relaxing aroma filled the air around them, helping to energize both Fang and Calliope, as well as herself and her teammates, though their training was taking place a fair distance from them. The Crobat and Tropius enjoyed Rosemary's lovely Sweet Scent, both momentarily forgetting they were supposed to be training as they took the moment to relax.

Misty frowned when she saw the speed-boosted Dratini easily slide out of the way of her Goldeen's aerial Horn Attack, but then again, that attack rarely hit unless its opponent was in the water. But then the Dratini, possibly due to both its size and the fact that those mats were almost always wet, continued sliding until it plopped into the water. Aha! They're on our turf now, Misty thought, clenching a fist. Let's see how they like this!

Misty's wide grin was back as she pointed down into the water. "Goldeen, use Attract!" she called, now punching the air. She'd recently learned just how useful this tactic was, especially for a Pokemon like Goldeen, who didn't have a lot of varying moves. Of course, Misty also had no idea that Riza's Dratini was a male, so therefore Attract would have no effect, but she was about to learn it. Goldeen swam in a quick circle, generating a swirl of pink hearts that sped through the water toward Faustus. It seemed he also didn't know that his opponent was male.

Robin herself felt the excitement of the battle settling in. Battles were always exciting but gym battles? Those were something else entirely. The rush she got from hearing those words was incredible! Win or lose this was going to be a match to remember! Grinning she grabbed a pokeball from her belt. She tossed it up once and caught it before throwing it out onto the field. "All right Black*Star! Let's show them how tough the Johto starters are!" Robin hadn't been sure who she would send out first but Gardenia's choice of pokemon had sealed the deal! Black*Star was naturally aggressive towards the other starters, wanting to prove that he was the best out of all of them. That and his desire to be in a gym battle would make him strive for the best!

The Croconaw appeared on the battlefield with a loud growl emanating from his fearsome jaws. The moment he spotted his opponent he felt a fire burn up in him that made it feel like he was steaming! This time that grass type wasn't going to be sent to have to be off the team due to injury. The big jaw pokemon flexed it's claws and geared itself up for battle. This might be that gym match but he would show them just how strong he was!

"I like to see that fire inside Black*Star!" Robin called out loving the energy she was seeing from her pokemon. "Let's get this started with your Dragon Dance!" She grinned as she watched the Croconaw take off in his signature Dragon Dance scrapping his claws on the ground and signing his name there as he glowed with the Dragon Dance's power. After a match with Black*Star there was no way this arena wasn't going to need a serious manicure and resaud.

Riza was not thrilled with the idea of Misty's Goldeen using Attract on her Dratini, even though she had no idea that the water-type was male too, like Faustus. The hearts encircled the Dratini and for a second he glowed pink, but then the colour disappeared, leaving the dragon blinking in confusion. Nothing had happened. It was easy for Riza to see that it had failed, and she smiled to herself. "They're both male, no wonder it didn't work," she said to herself. Now was the time to strike back!

The realization that Faustus could use Extremespeed had come upon the dark haired girl when she was figuring out what moves she could teach the Dratini, and now seemed like the perfect time to test it out. "Faustus, Extremespeed," she called, though the dragon didn't respond right away. Riza had begun to fear that Faustus' shyness was getting the better of him, and that perhaps it had been a bad idea to make his first battle a gym battle, but a moment or so later he shot forward, looking like a sleek, navy missile below the surface of the water as he raced toward the Goldeen.

Neither Turtwig nor Gardenia flinched when they saw the Croconaw appear, even though the water-type looked strong. It wasn't often that a challenger was brave enough to use water-types in her gym, but when they did, they always had effective strategies to deal with their glaring weakness. "Interesting choice of Pokemon," Gardenia commented, not at all being sarcastic or rude about it as she was rather impressed. She wasn't overly impressed with the gator ripping into the once perfectly manicured ground, but that's what the grounds keepers were for.

"If they're going to power up, then so are we," Gardenia said, nodding at her Turtwig. "Use Curse!" The grass-type starter gave a cry, and his whole body began to shimmer with a red aura. His own attack and defensive power gained a boost while his speed fell, though considering his kind weren't known for their speed to begin with, it was a pretty fair trade off.

Robin knew she would probably have to deal with some tricky moves by Gardenia, she had both seen that herself and heard about it. Maybe it was her pokemon's excitement over proving itself over another starter? Or maybe it was a sort of strategy? This starters style was based on brute strength, speed and it's tough scales to deflect some attacks. There weren't that many defensive or status modifying moves in it's arsenal. Either way it was time to send this dinosaur pokemon back to the ice age, she was going to save their Ace in the hole for later so that only meant one thing. " Black*Star let's show them how much we aim to freeze in this battle! Show them your Ice Fang attack!" Luffy seemed to love the ice pun and broke down into the grass laughing.

The Croconaw cast a glance back at his trainer at her, in probably her mind, clever pun. He had a bad feeling about a lot more word play being thrown out in this battle. Still he did like the sound of an Ice Fang right about now. Gnashing his teeth together he felt as if a blizzard was forming in his mouth right now, Almost like one of those gum commercials or something. Not waiting to see his breath puff out in front of him he charged his claws leaving deep gouges in the earth as he tore his way up in his dash for the Turtwig. If he was lucky he could have some turtle gazpacho, the starter looked so tiny he could eat it in one bite! And croc's did love to eat turtles!
