Suicidesoldier#1 The Living Force TANRailgun The Living Force TANRailgun Mimetic Hybrid Was the whole discussion of this thread that we shouldn't enjoy a character like Derpy because its making fun of mentally challenged individuals? Actually I believe it started out as to whether or not Derpy was a stereotype. Which I argued against, as it has been stated by Hasbro and the animation team and voice actor that is was not their intent to portray her as such. Which I said was entirely irrelevant to the fact that damage is not effaced simply because of clarification of intent, or rather, the lack of. Effaced no, there is however a reasonable expectation of forgiveness or understanding, and an end to the controversy in general. Then of course there is the matter of her not being a stereotype unless she is in fact mentally handicapped, and your circular logic as to why you believe she is mentally handicapped. But like I said, staying out of it. Again, it has to do with how it comes across, not how they intended it to. Perhaps some of the adult viewers are socially conscious enough to discern (though I really, really doubt it) but children definitely are not. And agreed, let's not start this again. Oh, it will be relit. This is like the alcohol bubbling out of the bottom of a quickly made coke can alcohol stove. If only because of the news that they put the episode back on iTunes, but edited her part. Bronies got butthurt.

It's not like, life altering, but it's kinda like someone gave you a gift you loved and then took it back...and even when you asked if you could just keep a small little piece of it, a trifle really, they were like "NO! lolololol". Perhaps some parents complained about the use of the name and the obvious "Down syndrome voice" used for the character. People obviously were upset - also evident in this thread. It was bound to happen - I do have the original "derpy" voice downloaded to my iPod so there!
