The medication was in full effect. Mitsu stumbling around in her walk almost like a drunk. Her gaze shifted to the river again and she started to move closer, her arms still clutched around her middle. As she got closer she stared out across the water she was sure had claimed Shun. The badger had fallen in there was no way the reaper could have avoided it…could he?

Her eyes were dull and nearly lifeless as she continued to stare at the water that had calmed since her adventure down the river. Her mind couldn’t help but drift to the idea that Shun had drown. He had drown and hadn’t shown up in the fear clinic. The doctor said if he died he would have shown up there but…he wasn’t there. He wasn’t anywhere.

The mental pain was far worse than the physical, crippling her on the spot. Mitsu collapsed to her knees, doubling over as sobs began to rack her body. “Shun…Where have you gone? Why did you leave me?” She didn’t know what to do, how to go on, how to function, how to live. What had life been like before Shun? Mitsu was having a hard time remembering and an even harder time imagining a life beyond without him.

When the pain ebbed again, Shun started to walk forth once more. It felt like he had been traveling forever over great distances, but he really hadn't covered that much ground compared to what he could have done should he been well. Time went on, and he was again wondering if he was really going in the right direction.

Just as he thought of this, he realized there was some soft sobs from somewhere up ahead. Furrowing his brow, he stumbled forth. It was so quiet, he wasn't entirely certain if that was what he was really hearing. It could be something else. Keeping his eyes as sharp as possible, it took him a little time before he caught any glimpses of anything.

And there she was, doubled over on the ground. He couldn't hear what she was saying exactly, but it looked like she was hurt pretty badly.

Hissing between his teeth, he tried to pick up his pace, feeling pain wrack through his body as he did so. Once he was a little closer, he took a chance to shadow step by. He missed a bit, being off by a few feet. And with his reappearance, he had let out a cry of pain, clutching at his head once more.

"Mi-tsu..." he winced, currently unable to do much of anything else.

Mitsu heard foot steps approaching but didn't pay them much mind. No, she no longer cared now that Shun was gone. Her sobbing continued until she heard her name. Only then did she dare to look up, her face streaked with tears.

Her gaze shifted to Shun and for a moment a brief look of hope shot through her. A jolt that said maybe this time, it feels so real doesn't it? Passed the numbing sensation you can almost believe he is there.

The light drained from her eyes, despair overwhelming her as she curled back up on the ground. "Why? WHY?! You're not there. You're not! Stop teasing me!" It was almost a scream, one that was followed by a sound of pain as Mitsu rolled to lay on her side. She was weak and exhausted now and she could feel the blood leaking through her shirt. Maybe she would die here too. What happened when you died for good? Mitsu seemed to recall fear settling back with the rest of the fear that made up the world. Could she be with Shun that way? That's all she really wanted.

Groaning, Shun tried to wait out until his mind cleared up a bit before doing anything else. Though, he was completely thrown off by the words Mitsu shouted out at him. Shocked, he was practically stunned by them. He was also really confused as to what she was talking about.

"What the hell are you talking about?" he asked while frowning. It was quickly followed up by a wince, "I'm right here, Mitsu. I'm not teasing you!"

Another wince from his own stern words. Clutching at his head a little longer, he soon reached out to try and crawl over by her. He could see the blood on her shirt now. With a grimace, he started to apply some pressure to it, trying to stop the bleeding.

"Kuso... what the hell happened to you..?" he hissed out. It seemed like she had taken quite a bit of damage. Had something attacked her?

Mitsu was muttering something incoherent and it was safe to say she was talking out of her head. Her mind was so foggy from the medication she couldn't see straight, Shun's form wavering and shifting even though he wasn't really moving. She expected him to disappear just like the other times but she couldn't help but stare wanting to look at him one last time.

"You would be there and then you wouldn't. I would see you and you would be gone." She explained in a whisper, her eyes getting heavy. True she had lost a lot of blood but the medicine was doing what the doctor said it would. Slowly her consciousness was slipping but because she had been fighting it her mind was playing tricks and this she thought was one of them.

Her hallucination took on a whole new light of realism when Shun placed his hand against her wound, a struggled groan of pain escaping her. She even started to quiver, shaky hands clutching the ground beneath her. The thick bandage she had was still in place but was soaked from her damp clothes and blood. "I-I fell into the river." Mitsu tried to explain though why she was talking to a figment of her imagination she wasn't sure. Might has well take advantage though if he was going to stick around for so long. "Will you stay? Until I fall to sleep?"

Listening carefully, Shun was trying to hear what it was she murmured. But he didn't understand any of it. The girl was delirious right now. It made him worry what had happened to her exactly, but soon she finally spoke in a way that made sense again. Well. Sort of.

It sounded like she had some hallucinations earlier, but it was really hard to say. That was all he could pick up from that line anyway. Pressing down on the wound some more, he gritted his teeth as the action was not making his injured arm all too happy. Though, he was forced to lightenn up a bit as the pain in his head throbbed a little more for a short time.

"You fell in? Jack dammit no wonder you're so beaten up.."

With the storm earlier, the river probably had become somewhat more intense. If not, there were all the things that was being knocked into it at that time.

"Wait.. no. Mitsu. Don't fall asleep here. I don't think I can carry you like this," he urged while trying to lift up her upper body at the very least. He was still trying to piece together why she was talking like this, but his head trauma was making it hard to go into much thought.

"I did~" Mitsu said airily. A distant drug induced smile forming on her lips. "I got thrown into a...a uhhh...umm tree. And there was this sharp uhh....thing..a stick!" It seemed her mind was having a hard time forming words, her voice getting further and further away as she spoke. "It poked me in the side," She indicated the area Shun was still pressing against to keep the bleeding down.

"Maybe I died, I dunno, I woke up at the clinic," Mitsu said almost mystified at what had happened. "But I couldn't stay I needed to find you because you weren't at the clinic and I saw you fall into the river." Or so she thought. Her mind had jumped to conclusions. The airy look turned to sadness, her voice softening. "But I couldn't find you....I would think I would see you but you would disappear. It was just like...just like with Ginji." Tears started to gather in her eyes and it was possible she would have started to sob again had Shun not lifted her into a sitting position.

The jolt of pain made her hiss, her body tensing in reaction. She tried to relax again but found it difficult. "But why can't I sleep? I'm so tired...and cold." That was when Mitsu realized something, that Shun felt...warm. He certainly looked different than her other hallucinations. They hadn't been nearly as beaten up. Slowly her hand reached up to touch his face, red painted finger tips leaving streaks of crimson on his cheeks. "S..Shun? Is that...really you? You're not a shadow?" Did she dare to hope? Her heart throbbed painfully knowing that if this wasn't real it would probably crush her.

That explained a few things. But Shun was a little disturbed with what she was saying here. Especially the bit about Ginji. Had she hallucinated about her brother? It sounded that way right now. Though, he wanted to know why she was seeing things like that in the first place.

"You shouldn't have left the clinic like this..." he murmured while looking her over. The one wound looked like it was the worse, but he couldn't tell how bruised she had gotten from her trip in the river. With a wince, he shifted her to try and kneel at a more comfortable position.

"Yes.. I'm here. There might be some who regard me no more than just a shadow, but i'm here," he said quietly before looking down stream, "We need to get to the fear clinic. Come on."

Gritting his teeth, he let out a wince while trying to stand up with her. Pain shot through his injured leg, forcing him back down.

There was no way her mind could come up with some of the strange things Shun said. It was him. It was really him. Tears started to gather in her eyes again but this time out of relief and happiness. She couldn't form the words she wanted to say, nothing seemed quite fitting to how happy she was at this moment. Instead she clung to him, shaky hands wrapping around his neck. "Oh Jack...Shun...I thought," No she didn't want to say what she thought. "I was so worried when you weren't at the clinic. I was scared...when you weren't there. I was starting to think...I wouldn't see you again..."

She held onto him as he started to stand with her, yelping slightly when they both dropped. It jostled her wound, her face suddenly pained. "Y..you're hurt. P..please put me down...I'll stand. I can get up." She wasn't entirely sure of her words but she would try. Now that she knew Shun was really here she would try. Mitsu had to do her best for him, she had to make sure he got back safe. "What did you do to your head?" She could see the angry bump on his head where it looked like someone had smacked him in the face with a rock.

Finally, Mitsu was coming around and making more sense. Though, his heart sank a bit when she said she thought she wouldn't see him again. All of this just now.. was it because she thought he had died for good? The wolf girl must really think he's really easy to get rid of. But... it was also really disturbing to see what that thought had caused in her. To have caused illusions.

Grimacing, he winced while trying to gather himself enough to stand again. He hadn't put down Mitsu just yet though.

"I shadow stepped when I fell... only ended up crashing right into the rock wall. Don't know how long I was out."

He was able to remember that much as far as the details went. But yes, he basically smacked his face into a rock.

He must have shadow stepped out of sight, Mitsu hadn't seen him when she looked down but she had also not been given the opportunity to look for him. She was mostly certain he had fallen into the river but before she could even investigate she had been thrown in herself. It had been the worst ride of her life and she was still paying for it.

"S-Shun, please, put me down. You can't carry me," Though as she spoke her head was lolling back. She was doing her best to keep her wits about her but she was holding on by a tiny thread. Everything was so distorted and surreal at times it felt like a dream. That and she was cold for the first time in her life. The loss of blood and the wet clothes sucked up any warmth her body would normally contain. It left her shivering trying to warm up but to no avail. It made her huddle down into Shun's hold, sharing what little heat he had to offer since he was cold and wet as well.

"The river was a quick way to the clinic," She mumbled, her head falling back to look at the rushing waters. "We could hold onto something and ride it down. Just watch out for the branches." Was she being serious? Her tone sounded like it but it didn't seem she was giving her plan much thought. More like she was just spewing out the ideas that came to mind whether they were gold or not.

Breathing a little heavily as pain was hitting him a little hard now, Shun didn't try to stand up again just yet. At her suggestion, he stared at the river, gritting his teeth. That did not sound like a very good idea. They were both in a weakened state. If the river ever hit a violent area, they would both likely lose their grip.

"I don't think that's a very good idea, Mitsu. It'd be too easy to lose grip in those water."

Taking in a deep breath, he closed his eyes and tried to gather himself. With a grunt, he forced himself to his feet, slinging an arm of hers over his shoulders.

"Just... have.. to walk.." he hissed while straining to stay on his feet.

Being set on her feet again Mitsu did her best to remain standing. It took far more effort than she realized. Her energy had been drained between the blood loss and thinking she had lost Shun. She had regained her hope but not her stamina. The lycan's legs trembled threatening to buckle as she leaned into Shun putting far more weight on him than she could help.

"Well, it would still be the fastest way to the clinic....One way or another," Her head fell forward as she spoke. She was definitely out of it now if she was talking about death so casually. If Shun had something like that earlier it would have upset her.

Forcing herself to walk was a whole other task. There was nothing steady about her movements, if Shun didn't have a hold of her she would no doubt have met with the ground. Her blood pressure was so low she was paper white against the dark forest, her mind blacking out for short moments before she shook her head trying to regain herself. "Shun...Shun you need to go." Mitsu managed, her hand finding a tree to help brace herself as one of her knees gave way. "I'm only going to slow you down."

Well, she had a point there. And for a moment, Shun actually considered it. However, he had heard that suicide, whatever the reason had a tendency to mess with respawn. So, he refrained from playing out that particular idea. It was a surprise that Mitsu suggested that, though.

"There is no way in hell I'm leaving you behind," he hissed before his leg gave out, bringing them both down.

"Not.. after finding you like this."

"What the? You're supposed to be back at the FEAR clinic," called out an unfamiliar voice. The Reaper glanced up to see someone approaching, and for the moment, he tensed up. His current state made him a little more wary of strangers.

"Easy there, boy. I take it you're Shun then? I was sent from the clinic to find you. It seems your friend here already beat me to it though," he explained before giving Mitsu somewhat of a scolding look. She was supposed to be in bed, healing right now.

Crying out as she hit the ground Mitsu curled up in a ball, her arm wrapping around her middle. She would not be getting up again and from the looks of things Shun might not either. Were they done for then? Would they die from their wounds, hypothermia as night fell, or would a wild animal find them? None of the scenarios really sounded all that great though Mitsu was certain she wouldn't be awake for any of it.

She did the only thing she could and huddled against Shun, visions of dreams playing across her eyes. Who was that she was imagining just now? She didn't recognize the voice. Her weary eyes turned up just enough to look at the ranger though she really didn't see him. Her vision was closing in around her fast, most of the area rather dark. "FEAR...clinic..." Mitsu voice mumbled her mind trying to jump start and work again. They needed to get to the FEAR clinic, that was right, but it was so far away.
