Orlina applauded for the newly Impressed girl, who looked thrilled. Anneke was one of the other weyrbrats of Malvren, a girl she thought she'd heard had found who her rider father was recently. Quite a feat, in a weyr. Orlina only knew because her mother's genes ran so strong, and the woman hadn't seen the need to hide her Brownrider father's name and existence from her. Not that Orlina really bothered either of them, but just this once, she glanced at the stands, looking to see if they had turned out to see her Stand. Or if her mother had come to see two of her children stand.

Sudden movement in the corner of her eye drew Orlina's attention back to the Sands. A second Green had made her way over to them, but her creeping pace was halted when two more eggs began to crack. Orlina's eyes darted up to the Clutch to watch two Greens pop from their eggs almost simultaneously. A huge grin spread across her face as she watched them direct their paths to the Brown who had deigned to move a bit closer to the boys-- calling for them to come forward and let him inspect them, maybe?-- but still wasn't getting up and actually doing his own fair share of the searching. Orlina's eyes skimmed the faces of the boys, finding Orothor's face among them. Maybe for him...? She still didn't know her brother well enough to say what kind of dragon he would get. Anything was possible.

As wan as he’d felt after the bronze’s untimely death, Kazairl couldn’t help but chuckle at the lazy brown. Shifting in the hot sands, he cocked his head at the pale dragon. Surely he couldn’t already be so tired. “Don’t let the greens show you out, lad,” he coached beneath his breath. Certain they couldn’t be for him, he paid the greens no further mind. It was the brown that mattered, though if he’d been wrong enough to Impress one of the verdant sisters he could never have second guessed a dragon. To his current way of thinking, though, he’d be more likely to not Impress a dragon at all than find a green a lifemate. He glanced at the boys in line with him, trying to tell if someone had already Impressed the little brown and was just too star-struck to move yet. Someone else might have found their rapt attention too similar to the moment of rapture that was Impressing to tell the difference, but Kazairl had been Standing long enough to know the brown hadn’t made a decision yet. “Come on now…”

The brown rumbled at his sisters, thumping his tail on the ground as he watched the Candidates and refused to move, either extremely patient or utterly disinterested in moving another step. And again, no one moved forward. He seemed to sigh and cast his gaze over the group once more, catching sight of one in particular. Kazairl. Why are you standing there like a lump? Your Arjikith is waiting for oil and food.

With the brown making his Impression, the greens simply tossed their heads and continued on into the boys. One veered into the farthest area to begin her search while the other, the Silent, started towards the front, both of them pacing the boys like wolves in a flock of sheep.

And the Gritted Teeth Green, seeing everything was alright, continued her slow progression through the girls, occasionally meeting gazes and occasionally edging gently, cautiously, past legs.

Orlina caught sight of Kazairl standing not far from her brother among the boys. Orothor was further back, but Kaz was right out in front, and Orlina just grinned all the wider for seeing her friend. They'd been missing each other the last few weeks between chores and Orlina showing Cyrci around and whatever it was Kaz did with his spare time. Probably woo maidens or something.

It was too bad she couldn't call out to him. Orlina waited to see if he would catch her eye, but she didn't want to take her eyes off of the dragons for too long. Suddenly a change came over Kaz's face and Orlina looked confused-- and then her eyes widened and darted to the Brown and back to him again. The Brown hadn't moved an inch, but... had he...

Kaz? she wondered, holding her breath to see if the boy would move.

She jerked her head to look down as the Green dragonet who had been interested in the girls-- one of the three-- carefully picked her way past Orlina. A tiny bit of disappointment moved in her heart, but she gently pushed it aside. It would be wrong for a dragon to pick someone who wasn't meant for them. There were plenty of eggs left, and Orothor had even said not everyone Impressed the first time. G'ten had warned her of that, too. She would keep her fingers crossed mentally for now, she decided, and moved her hazel eyes back to Kaz to see if she had read his face correctly.

Cyrci smiled at the browns impression and watched as the two greens continued their way into the boys. The other green from the Gritted teeth egg was moving through the girls. Being careful to shift out of the way Cyrci watched her feet not wanting to trip up the dragon or get herself clawed up in the process. Lifting a hand she made to fidget with her necklace only to remember that it wasn't there. Mentally scolding herself for such a silly action she straightened.

Her family hopefully was watching and she had to do them proud. She had to prove that she was more then what those holder girls said she was. After all surely her dragon was here waiting on her somewhere.

Seyari nodded happily as the Brown impressed, smiling, and turning his attention back to the other greens that seemed to be circling them. What pretty creatures, greens...
He was so happy to see this green up and close. The first dragons he'd seen were greens, and he was still fond of them. Fond of ALL dragons afterall, but still... so many different colors of green. It was amazing.

And there it was, a sudden pressure, an irrefutable urge as if he’d been wandering in the sun all day and his hand wanted to reach instinctively for a skin of water at his belt. In the same way, Kazairl longed to look back at the dragons in a way somehow different from the anxious, greedy way Candidates usually stared at the creatures. His mouth suddenly dry, Kazairl turned his head back to the sands and locked eyes with the whirling jewels staring across at him. Later, he would be somewhat surprised that he didn’t immediately notice the color or sex of his lifepartner, but at the moment all that mattered was the feeling of calm and unfiltered love flowing through the newly established bond.

It felt as if he’d been alone his whole life and he was only just becoming aware of it. He’d had friends, family, a good trade, and even girls, but leaving them behind had never been too difficult. All he had ever done was look forward, forward, forward, scrambling for the next thing on the horizon, and here he had stumbled over the present, and his name was Arjikith.

Kazairl. Why are you standing there like a lump? Your Arjikith is waiting for oil and food.

Kazairl’s face cracked into an expression of awe and amazement as the rainbow hues of the brown’s eyes faded to a steady and bright blue and the Impression ended. “I’m the lump?” he called back, too mentally unsteady and unfamiliar with the new bond to speak mentally. His voice cracked as he spoke and he started for the frail dragonet, no longer remotely mindful of the burning on his feet. He sagged to his knees and for a few moments embraced Arjikith around the neck. “You’re the lump, and you’re amazing.”

I know, the brown answered smugly, then took on a more suggestive tone. I am hungry too…

Kazairl laughed quietly and helped the brown stand. Small for his color, Kazairl could likely have carried the dragon to the bowls, but after a minute of insistent arguing he convinced the dragon to only lean against him as they made their way to the food. Arjikith leaned heavily, as if he resenting having to carry one ounce of his own weightm, but collapsed heavily and happily once more once they made it to the meat bowls.

When the Greens moved off, Orothor glanced down the row of boys to see if someone had Impressed. He would avoid making assumptions for the rest of the Hatching, if possible. One of his friends nudged him and gestured, not that he would have needed the hint now that Kazairl had called out to the dragon and then proceeded to go through the staggering and embracing Orothor had expected earlier.

He had never really been one of those boys who guessed at what color he would get, but he would admit to having entertained a notion or two in the past. Those days, though, were long past him, left behind with the second or third Hatching he'd Stood for and walked away from alone. He traded a friendly smile with his friend beside him before they both looked expectantly at the eggs still rocking and cracking before them, ignoring Kazairl and his new Brown now that the pair had Impressed and were moving on to the bowls of food for the dragonets.

Zeren stifled a laugh at the lazy brown, he seemed determined to get His to come to him but without speaking to him and making Impression. He looked up at the greens that flanked the brown and smiled, they looked like little green bookends.

When the Brown Impressed and moved off towards the tables, his eyes stayed on the greens, watching to see what they were going to do. Already this clutch had his stomach jumping in several different ways.

Sitting back on the sands, the green that had come from the Silent Egg carefully began to clean the egg goo off her lovely hide. As her sisters moved away from her on their quests for the riders she gave a slightly unhappy trill: she didn't want to be all by herself! When they both glanced her way but then kept on moving anyway however she did no more to stop them, lowering her head briefly before looked over at the candidates.....

And yes.

Yes.

There was the right one.

Hers.

Seyari. Please come to me. Your Lownth does not wish to be alone.

Cyrci saw the Silent egg green stop and paused in her constant scanning of the eggs to watch the creature carefully clean herself off. Almost as if trying to make herself a bit more presentable to her rider. Grinning the girl shrugged her shoulders. Looked like that was one green down and two to go as the Gritted teeth still stalked amongst the girls and the other green still trailed along the boys.

She was doing her best now to stop glancing nervously over at the little black egg. If it didn't hatch the Weyrwoman would help it right? I mean that's what she'd been told. Turning she faced the remaining eggs and settled in to wait.

With each new hatching and successful Impression, Salin grew more excited. It was always wonderful to see all the new dragons emerge and find their lifemate. And they were all so pretty, too! But as each dragon chose someone else, she couldn't help feeling anxious, too. Would any of them be the one for her? She watched the greens still on the sands with hopeful eyes, wishing one of them would come to her.

Seyari paused in his congratulations of the new Brown rider as he heard something in his head. His heart gave a little leap, as his head turned toward the green that was... talking to him.

Seyari. Please come to me. Your Lownth does not wish to be alone.

He pushed past the other boys to get to his beloved one, his completion. Dropping to his knees, he wrapped his arms around his partner, and buried his head in her hide, feeling what could only be pure joy.

" I'm here. I'm here. You're not alone anymore."

He stayed like that, humming the tune he'd sang to her in the egg, nuzzling her for a moment before she quietly looked over toward the meat tables and other dragons.

Mine.... I'm a little hungry...

Seyari got to his feet quickly, gasping with realization. "Right! Right, food! Food, of course, food. Come on... we'll get you fed."

He started off toward the meat tables, Lownth following quietly after him, trying not to appear too enthusiastic. However, when they actually got there, the way she devoured the meat that was handed to her told quite otherwise. She would also like to be oiled, but that could wait until later, until after her stomach was filled.

Azylrin watched the brown, who seemed rather lazy (but was so adorable!) just sitting there like he was waiting for...his to come to him. The candidate shook his head a little in amusement, looking back towards the movement on the sands. First it had been the brown and one green. Now there were three greens roaming about on the sands. And weren't they all just beautiful things? He hoped they each found theirs with no problems. Like the brown seemed to have done. The boy turned back towards him in time to see that yes, he'd found his person! Good for you! He thought quietly to himself, being too shy to actually say it out loud.

He was pleased to see that, aside from their loss of the bronze, all the other dragonets were finding their lifemates. Azylrin still felt that excited tightening that was part fear, part anxiousness, and a good part excitement whenever a dragonet came towards them. Though he didn't feel any of the gut wrenching disappointment when none came his way. Azylrin was just too happy for everyone else to spare room for such feelings.

Oh! And now one of the greens had Impressed too! He sent a silent congratulations to that pair as well. Maybe, after the hatching he'd be able to say such a thing out loud instead of silently in his mind.

"I'd love to meet her," Adi replied, honestly excited. M'cel was nice - and fun - even if he was a little old (in the eyes of a teenager, anyway). He said Anneke was like him, and if that was true, then she was awesome! She beamed at the pat, ever a fan of pretty much any friendly physical contact.

"Yeah, we probably are," she agreed then, chuckling. "But who's gonna blame two little blueriders for a rowdy blackrider?" As they talked, she kept her peripheral attention on the Sands, watching more dragons hatch and go off with their riders. That had been her and Maz, not so long ago at all now.
