Walking farther into the hall only revealed more mirrors, and more warped reflections of himself. The room was quiet, and there was no sign that there was anyone inside at all. Or any distractions to keep him from wandering farther down the hall and possibly towards the stairwell.

Damn funhouse . . . that sonuvabitch lied to me! Arell said a little mad. He wanted to go back and shoot two-face for lying, but he shook his head. He had work to do and wasn't about to stick around to let trivial issues like getting lied to affect that fact that he was on a rescue mission.

As Arell walked farther into the mirrred room, one mirror had...a bit of a different reflection. A woman with curly blonde hair and a purple little dress sitting on the floor, only half reflected in the mirror.

Arell paused for a minute and backtracked to that mirror. Ever the chivalrous one, he took off his hat. "'Scuse me, ma'am. Did you happen t' see anyone walk in here in a blue Spider-person outfit?" he asked, trying to be a nice as he could.

The woman in the mirror glanced to the side, then moved to stand up. The tall figure in the mirror moved, and a much smaller figure peeked out from behind the mirror in front of it. A child stood beside her older reflection, and hesitantly looked up at Arell.
"No....no one else has come through here but me..." the child replied, her doll hanging by her legs as she gripped it's arm in one hand.

Arell smiled at the girl. He got down to her level and handed her a candy bar he had in his pocket. "Thanks, sugar. I guess I oughta be on m' way." he said with a smile as he put his hat back on and walked towards the stairs.

The girl smiled and took the candy bar, but frowned as he walked away. She glanced back down the hall, then looked back towards Arell. "M-mister? Can you take me with you?" she asked, moving out from behind the mirror and heading after him.

Arell paused just as he hit the stairwell. "I'd love to, but I gotta warn ya . . . it may be dangerous. Promise t' stay close an' stay outta trouble?" he asked as he got down to her level. "Just wanna make sure ya don't get hurt." he said. He was a sucker for kids.

The girl looked up at him, a relieved little smile on her face as she nodded. "I'll stay close, I promice." she replied. "I just don't want to be alone in here anymore..."

Arell smiled. "You got a deal. Say, what's your name, anyways, kid?" he asked. Hoping to get her name before they went up the stairs.

The girl smiled and brought her doll up to hug it against her. "Babydoll." she replied, grinning. "What about you Mister? What's your name?"

Arell smiled. "Nice t' meetcha Babydoll. I'm Arell." he said. Hey, Bounty hunter! Remember Sapph? his mind rang. He shook it aside. "That's an adorable doll ya got there." he said.

Babydoll smiled up at him. "Thanks mister Arell." she replied, glancing down at the one-eyed doll in her hands. Poor thing looked like it had been worn nearly to death. "He keeps me company."

Arell smiled. "Reckon it'll be alright with our li'l adventure, che'?" he asked with a wink. He knew a kid back home that was almost just like this.
