(Frost)

"I know you are." Xander said with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. He was completely oblivious to Frost's thoughts on Izaya and instead was looking over the older man's costume again. "Well for something you threw together with out planning for a while, it looks rather good." The teen did have some reservations about the helmet but understood that just because he liked to look at Frost, safety came first. "Hm, well we can go over there and see if they have anything good, usually the punch is good at least at these type of parties."

(Asch)

Natalia let out a laugh that she politely hid behind a hand. She couldn't help it, something about 'Luke's' shocked face and the outfit he was in tickled her funny bone. "Is it so surprising that I found you? I was worried after you left so after a while I came after you and Guy." She said then gently linked an arm with 'Luke'. "Dance with me? I missed you." Now that she was looking at him though, something seemed...different. Even the costume shouldn't make this much difference. It went against her training in social events to bring it up now however. Maybe once she knew where he was staying she would talk privately with him.

Little Luke on the other hand knew something was up and knew what it was. His little nose twitched and he waved one of his hooves at 'Luke' with a piggy grin. "Tep, pigtep!"

(Jerome, Izumi and the others, Izaya)

Shizuo gave a nod of greeting to Jerome. "Nice to see you again." He said and crossed his arms over the blood splattered shirt. Before he could say any more though he sneezed a few times. "Gah, some one must be talking about me." At least shivers hadn't come with the sneezes, as that usually meant Shinra was talking about him.

Asch's shocked expression then suddenly changed as Natalia continued to speak. In an instant it turned cold. The surprise and the tiny flicker of hope were suddenly squashed. Anger and bitter disappointment filled him as he realized that Natalia was actually looking for that idiot. He should have known better. Even she hadn't realized it. She didn't know who he was. She hadn't recognized him nor realized that the other was a different person.

His yanked his arm away from Natalia, trying to mask the hurt as he leveled a steely look on her before quickly turning and dashing into the crowd.

He had to get away from her. Maybe even leave the party completely if it came down to it.

(Asch)

Natalia was taken aback by the cold look that crossed over 'Luke's' face and completely confused. Was it so bad that she had followed after him? That she had missed him? She could not remember having made him mad when she helped him come to Kodo so that couldn't be it. Was what ever it was that seemed different about him the problem? When he pulled away and gave her a look that made her heart feel made of cement she took a half step back with a hurt look. But the moment he took off she didn't let her confusion and hurt stop her from dashing after him. "Luke wait!" Was he really not that happy to see her?

Oh how he wished he could speak human. Then he could tell his Lady that this was not the Luke she was thinking but the other. Little Luke held on tightly so not to fall off even as he though this.

(Whee for collab posts.)

It was green. It was lumpy. It had a worrying resemblance to a footy pajama suit.

Hayes took a look at the thing Aulus was holding up and made a decision.

"Oh hell no."

Aulus grinned. "Oh come on," he crooned flamboyantly, "it's so you! It's certainly not me at any rate." Now scowling Aulus scanned the room for other possibilities. "Dinosuaurs. Why did it have to be dinosuars?"

"Yeah right," was his partner's laughing, good-natured response. Hayes didn't blame Aulus for the current situation. All the freshly-minted agent had wanted to do was get off base and pull him, that was to say Hayes, 'away from that idiot box for a night.' Neither of them could have predicted this. Still, it was a situation.

Dinosaurs. Why did it have to be-

"Hey." The spectacled blond elbowed his companion suddenly.

"Hu? Wazzat?" Aulus quizzed eloquently.

Hayes waved his paper slip. "This is just a theme, right?"

"Well... I think so?" Aulus replied, scowling in a slightly more puzzled manner. "Why do you ask?"

Hayes was frowning thoughtfully at the clothing racks, and didn't respond right away. When he did, Aulus was met with a happy grin that Faleen would have recognized as 'I have an idea.' "Put that down and find a hat. You want to be Indiana Jones or Alan Grant?"

Aulus' frown deepened. "Alan who? Is he one of the villians or something? If so I guess I should be him, protagonists never have a scar over their eye." A sad fact but it seemed to be true in movies and all that. Still, at least tonight he'd probably get complimented on a really good makeup job rather than anything else.

"Dude," the blond laughed, looking up from a collection of shirts with a barely repressed 'are you serious' grin. "Jurassic Park? We'll just say you got clawed by a raptor. Here." He tossed something denim at Aulus. He'd been neutral about the party, but finding a workaround to a problem was proving fulfilling.

"Oh? Oh, right," Aulus frowned, catching the clothing item and nodding, "right, that works... You know I don't think I ever actually saw that movie. We should watch it sometime." He felt a bit of a tit not having seen something so very well known, but Hayes was cool - or seemed it thus far - so he didn't mind admitting it in front of him too much.

Hayes' "Sounds good-" sounded distracted; he was on a mission now. A moment passed until it occurred to him that Aulus would have difficulty creating a costume that he'd never seen. "Uh, okay. Blue denim shirt, khaki work pants, tan work boots, cowboy hat, red.. neck.. thing," he gestured vaguely, indicating either a bandana or a cravat, "and a dinosaur." Go.

"...Right." Scowling more than ever Aulus poked amongst the racks of costumes, gathering up things that looked somewhat like what Hayes had suggested. "These do?" he asked, heading back over to the blond once he'd found everything.

"Sure." Hayes had found a similar hard-wearing getup in dusty tans and browns, and - most importantly - absolutely no traces of flannel or resemblance to pajamas anywhere. He tossed a stuffed dinosaur at his partner, a plush Shieldon of his own tucked under his arm, and shifted the rather iconic hat on his head. "Let's go be paleontologists."

"Uh... That's guys who study dinosuars right?..." Oh. That made sense. He felt dumb. He put on his hat. "Right. Let's go change."

---

"Slips." The attendant on door duty held his hand out, skimmed over the papers, and looked up to find biceps filling his vision. "Those costumes aren't-"

"Paleontologists." Aulus shifted his shoulders meaningfully. The attendant shifted his thinking.

"-thuhhhhhh usual interpretation I've seen. Alan Grant? Loved Jurassic Park. Have fun."

Hayes gave Aulus a sideways look as they passed into the main room. "Nice."

@ Alba and Inigo

With the man speaking to her, she nodded, grateful that he would even speak to her, and not ask 'where are your parents?' "Yes, Questions. I am writing an article on the event. Keeping in mind this is a masquerade, and anonymity is prized, you may remain anonymous if you choose." Though her voice sounded like a girl in her pre- or early teens, she spoke with the sophistication of her actual age. "So if you don't mind, are you residents of the city? Or are you just visiting?" It was always good to find out where people were from. "And how did you come to hear of this event?" She looked at Alba, who though he hadn't actually agreed to being questioned, at least was still standing there. She glanced to the man he was with, wondering if either of them would answer anything.

"Did you come together?"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Aila

"I suppose you are." He echoed. A party was to participate, and not simply to observe. Though he wondered who she was concerned about. A lot had changed on base since he'd been away, and there were many new faces he didn't recognize. "But if you are enjoying yourself, that is what's important." He did hope that she would not be a wall flower all night though. He leaned his head back against the wall, his had being pushed forward to once again shade his face.

"Worry you, hm? What are you afraid will happen, if they are left to their own devices?" Aila was always so serious. Too serious sometimes, but that was simply her nature it seemed. All well and good he supposed. Taking another drink from the can, he wondered if Aila actually watched movies. It wouldn't surprise him if she didn't.

Holding up his skirt, Asch looked very silly as he dashed across the floor, weaving through the crowd in an attempt to lose Natalia.

Why now? Why HERE of all places? And what was she doing in Kodo? But she had told him, hadn't she? She'd come here looking for Guy and the idiot.

Her words stung as they replayed in his mind. She had missed him... but not him... the other one. Asch also grimaced at the name that she called when trying to follow.

In his flight, he caught sight of a familiar face in the corner, talking to a very tall man. Suddenly there was a flurry of red and black as Asch practically dove behind the two to hide.

"J'essaie de m'éloigner d'elle. Prétendre que je ne suis pas là," he spoke quickly to Aila, using her and Mau as shields.

(@Mau/Asch)

Was she enjoying herself? Aila typically associated 'enjoying herself' with reading, training, studying, and other such leisure activities. Social events were not unlike missions to her: events that necessitated her to be on her highest guard, ready to respond to any situation at any moment. This was exactly what Izaya was always berating her over, wasn't it? It was no wonder she was always so quick to stress out if she was always so high-strung. She drew once more from the can, dismissing the thoughts idly. It wasn't as if she were going to suddenly change her ways over a demi-revelation in the middle of a party hall.

A distinctly bitter expression responded to the invitation to explain her worries. The expression alone served well to answer the question. "Nothing will necessarily happen, per se... One has a bit of a short fuse, and the other seems to enjoy angering people for the sole end of seeing how they act when they're angry... Not that either of them will act on these tendencies, necessarily," she emphasized the word again, "but it's a possibility--"

She was cut short by a sudden whirlwind of red and black - the princess-themed individual with the sword she had noted earlier. She would have been content to expel the intruder with an indignant word or two, had the said intruder not suddenly spoken in a voice and language that were all too familiar. She narrowed her eyes. That princess was Asch.

...Well.

"Une question," she replied in a tone that she hoped was suitably quiet for the man who was apparently hiding, instinctively slipping into a matching tongue. "De qui?" Given what she knew of his situation, she could have hazarded a guess or two, but it would be easier to conceal him, as he requested, if she knew from whom he needed concealing.

(Asch, Aila, Mau)

Luckily for Natalia, her costume didn't have a skirt like 'Luke's' to worry about. The jacket however caused a slight drag because of it flaring out behind her as she ran after the red head but it wasn't enough to put much distance between the two like 'Luke' probably hoped. Her worry was raising with each step her fiance took away from her and so was her determination to find out what was going on with him. When 'Luke' dived behind two people she didn't know she stopped a few feet away from the small group and put her hands on her hips.

In the face of the strangers she hid her concern and hurt from her face and instead adopted a masking annoyed look, though her eyes clearly showed what she was really feeling. "Luke fon Fabre! Why in the world are you running from me, why did you seem so shocked to see me and why is it that you seem different after only a few months?" The blond addressed him before giving the two he chose to hid behind a slightly apologetic smile.

Little Luke peered at the three before him and his Lady before wiggling his little tail. Maybe he could act cute and distract the two the other hid behind so his Lady could reach him unstopped.

@ Asch, Aila, Natalia

So she was, in a sense, babysitting. Watching to make sure that some child-like recruits didn't do something stupid like kill each other. It made perfect sense, he supposed. Still, it was a party. A part of him nagged at him to ask her if she'd want to dance. But he didn't speak as Aila was still-

Wait.

Someone pushed their way behind them and was cowering -was that the right word?- behind them. Mau was about to chastise the distinctly male voice, but he had no idea what the man was saying. He glanced behind him slightly then looked at Aila as she seemed to understand and respond. The night seemed to have just gotten interesting.

When the young woman would yell at the uninvited companion, Mau's shaded eyes looked over the blond. "If you were yelling at me in such a way, I'd insist on hiding as well." He took a final drink from the soda he held before it was empty. He crossed his arms and stared at the young lady. "Now, perhaps without causing a scene and shouting, what is the problem?"
PostPosted: Sun Oct 16, 2011 9:25 pm

(@Asch/Natalia/Mau)

Well, that answered her one question. Now how to deal with this situation? Obviously Asch didn't wish to deal with this woman, and a thorough inspection of her person gave some hints as to why that might be. Aila prided herself on her knowledge of Grande Ile's politicians, and this young woman bore a striking resemblance to one she recognized. Given she was addressing Asch as Luke - and using his full name no less - she felt it safe to say her assumptions were correct.

"Changer votre costume si vous le pouvez," she murmured while Mau addressed the young woman that had approached them. Perhaps he was stuck in with his theme, but certainly the party attendants couldn't argue if he simply wanted to change into a different dress? Perhaps it would be enough to throw this woman off. She shifted slightly, preparing to attempt to distract the stranger if Asch indeed used the opportunity to get away and if she in turn moved to pursue him.

Aila's question was answered in short order as Natalia quickly caught up and started yelling at him. There was a growling sound that came from Asch when she used his full name, but didn't respond. He had found himself in quite a predicament and wasn't sure what to say to her without causing a problem in some way or another.

Thankfully, Mau and Aila were not giving Natalia free access to him. He glanced at his partner when she made her suggestion and nodded. That was probably his best option at this point other than just leaving. Hoping that the two would distract Natalia, Asch tried to slip away and back to the costume room.

(Asch, Aila, Mau)

Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear was not one to cower at correction or critique of her manor unless it was by her father and she was not about to start now when her 'Luke' was acting so strangely. She meet Mau's look with challenge in her eyes that warred with the mixed feelings that concerned 'Luke'. "Forgive me, I did not mean to raise my voice above the social acceptance." She straightened up, looking ever more the princess that has been her nickname when she had been growing up even in the witches costume. "Kindly step aside now please as this is between my fiance and I." If he wanted her to calm down then he could deal with her court manners as for the moment Natalia was feeling too many emotions to act any other way with out them showing.

Her eyes shifted from Mau to Ailia and 'Luke' though when the red head started to edge away. This made a frown grace her lips and hurt shine in her eyes more. Why was he still running? 'Luke' knew her enough by now to know that she wasn't really mad and that it was worry that drove her. Normally he would at least give her hints to try and not make her concern grow. He hands tightened on her hips slightly at the thought that she had must have down something to seriously hurt her fiance for him to act like this. Should she try to follow him again or let him run off to who knows where while he calmed down?

......What if something had happened and he couldn't remember his past again? That idea caused her to take a small, fast breath and her calm mask started to break and anxiousness shone through. If he couldn't remember things again then what might he still remember? Was that why he pointed a sword at Guy? Not because of some playful or slightly annoyed gesture but because he could not remember him? It had been horrible those eight years ago when Luke got amnesia and she would hate for him to have to go through that again. But that little selfish part in her heart wondered if he would become the boy she had fallen for as a child again.

No, it was best not to think of things like that as right now Natalia could not prove that anything like that happened. No need to think of the worst right now right? The teen took a step closer towards 'Luke'.

Little Luke on the other hand was fully prepared to jump down from his Lady's shoulder and dart after the other at any second if needed. It was time his Lady knew of the other and his relation to Luke. "Tepig."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. This would be so embarrassing if she happened to know anyone in this party. How could she have missed the announcement for a costume party in celebration for Halloween? It was her favorite holiday, but it wasn't for the candy. No, she liked the creepy celebration for the fact that she could dress up and be someone else for a day without looking like an idiot. What made it even more interesting was the fact that one practically raffled for their costume. It saved her days of thinking of one.

Naomi giggled at the word on the ticket she grabbed. Pirate. It was just so perfect for the Water lover. The only thing that upset her was the fact she didn't have her Blastoise to complete the outfit, but then again... were Pokemon even allowed at this party? Getting the idea out of her mind, she just continued sifting through the articles of clothing, gathering all the items of hers before she changed into it.

After some time, most of it wasted on struggling into the tights, the trainer stepped out into the fray. Her favorite part of the costume was the large, ruffled hat atop her head and she hoped she could keep it after the party. She adjusted the collar of the long, black coat she had chosen, mainly because she liked the puffy shoulders of it. After giving her ticket to the man checking for them, she awkwardly moved further into the large room.

Now, she wasn't awkward cause she's nervous, she could meet anyone without a hitch. What was bothering her was the black and red corset and frilly skirt she had also picked. A tomboy at heart, Naomi could never stand wearing anything really girly, hence why she opted for the tights underneath the skirt. She pulled at the hem of the garment as the heeled boots clacked against the floor, her green eyes glancing about at those present and the decorations.

@ Natalia, Asch, Aila

"You are frantic. It shall be overlooked this time." Mau responded to the woman in a tone that hinted chastising. As she stood taller, Mau met her stubborn gaze with his own hard though impartial one. "Unfortunately, I cannot step aside." He thought of going the childish rout in stating he had been here first, but dismissed the mischievous notion. He opted instead to try a more diplomatic approach.

"There is quite obviously something amiss between you. One he is not inclined to discuss at this moment, given he sought refuge among strangers." He tried to be diplomatic, as this woman seemed to hold herself in high regard. "Perhaps a mediator would be best." He offered, glancing again to Aila and the cross dressing costumed man.

"Would you allow my companion and yours to speak, to see what the trouble is? Yourself and I may speak to locate the problem. Between the two sides of the story I'm sure we will think of something." Since Aila seemed to understand this man, it was best she took him aside. He had a suspicion though, that she and the man knew each other. There were others around whom would have served as better barriers between the man and the woman. Yet they were singled out, and Mau most certainly did not know this man.

(Alba, Presea)

Inigo grinned at Alba's choice of the word 'contemporary'. The older man had, after all, just moments ago referred to his own costume as something out of a history book, or something anyway. He'd been busy looking for an appropriate costume himself, anyway. "I hope so, I wonder who else--"

What?

Oh, there was a girl - a small one - standing there, asking about.. questions? "Are you a journalist?" Inigo quirked a brow, accompanied by a slight tilt of his head. His expression cleared and his typical lop-sided grin reappeared quickly, however, followed by a small chuckle. "Oh, I get it. You're a.. robotic journalist? Cool costume," he said honestly. Man, he'd never think of something like that. Alba's silence barely even registered to him.

----------------

(Rosie, Guy, Izumi, Jerome, others because what even is brain at 3am)

Upon shoving Izumi at the ravenous, rabid wolf-man, Sera immediately hid behind Rosie - not that she would sacrifice her as well, of course, but just because.. well... Rosie was just so much braver than she was. Yes, that was it. However, the spoiled brat (Jerome's assumption was entirely correct in every way, shape, and form) stopped her cowering when she heard Izumi's excited voice start introducing everyone to this 'Jerome' guy. He was this.. horrifying wolf..thing? ...augh. This girl was even more weird than she thought.

Still. Seraphine straightened up and smoothed her skirt down while she simultaneously took a step out from behind Rosie, for once thankful that the feathered mask covered most of her face - at least no one would see how badly she was blushing. "Don't scare me like that," she said with a huff, folding her arms in front of her chest. Humph. The nerve of some people...

----------------

(Isadora, Faleen, Izaya)

Faleen's dismissal of her question elicited an amiable "okay" from the other agent before she turned to Isadora instead. "That's good," she said honestly. Claire was always glad to talk to her friends, and the therapist was no exception.

When Izaya ran in and practically assaulted Faleen with some sort of monologue about some guy who wanted to kill him - honestly she'd like to help the guy o-- no, no; second chances, she reminded herself again - she couldn't help the battle on her face. The two emotions were amusement and revulsion, and she wasn't sure which was more appropriate. After a moment or two she decided to go with neither, and turned to Isadora again. "How's Layleeta doing? Any improvements yet?" Of course, it quite possibly be too soon for any positive changes yet, but it was always good to hope. That, and being thrown clear across a pool tended to at least have some effect.
