"Heh." Hayes glanced down at the sleepy Umbreon lolling across his lap, receiving the indirect praise with a sheepish grin. "Well, so far we've just been up against in-game A.I., but-" He gave her one of his mild smiles, "-thanks. I hope it carries over to the real thing."
A puzzled pause followed her reaction before the blond suddenly laughed. "I mean partnership," he assured her with an amused quirk of his lips, then raised his brows - not only at the news, but at Seth's choice. "How's that going?" Accustomed as she was to working with him, Faleen might have detected the slight shift toward his normal, neutral working voice.
"Uh.. maybe a couple weeks," he added.

A small, polite smile met his more sheepish one, and his reply that he hoped things worked out for him and his new partner. She didn't really have a doubt that they would, but one never knew.
She continued to smile, a little bigger when he confirmed what she had suspected he meant. "Yeah." she added, with a shake of her head, brushing it off. "Uh... well, Good I suppose, we're both willing to give it our best. Though... I'll admit, I don't really know the first thing about having a partner." She had looked away from him at this point, back at the TV, though she wasn't really paying attention to it.
Absol had lifted his head with this change of topic, the larger pokemon seemed to be paying attention to what they were talking about, as his eyes shifted from his master, to Hayes and back.
"I see, so your partnership is pretty new as well."

"Yeah-" It sounded like a surprise to the agent. "Doesn't really feel that way.. we've been hanging out a lot, I guess."
The male villain had just let slip he'd caused the death of the blue robot's partner, and now he was trying to weasel out of the fight the femme wanted. Hayes attention was drawn to the more predictable interaction again.
"If Seth put you together, he must think you can work with this guy," he commented after a space of time. Of course, there were other reasons for pairing agents, but to his knowledge Faleen hadn't annoyed the wrong people lately. He nudged Binary's paw as he watched the screen; the little Umbreon flexed her toes against his finger and kicked her back foot, but didn't wake. "M'guessing he wants you to be a good influence."

"I suspect that's his reasoning as well..." she answered, thinking back on the day Seth had called them into his office. She didn't say anything more for a while, but she remained in a deeper thought, It was a task she was presented with, and of course like any other assignment she wanted to do well. She just wish she had as much confidence about this one like she did for all her other ones.
Finally, while a fight was going on on screen, Faleen moved, pushing herself up so that she could slide back, and lean back against the Absol who was rested behind her, her head propped up on his shoulder so that she still had view of the room around.
