Opal stirred a bit. She opened her eyes then looked at Ion with a sleepy hazy look in her eyes. "Hello Ion." She yawned out. "You'll be pleased to know that you have four healthy sons." She spoke softly as not to wake the foals. She yawned again then put her head down. "You can fully meet them in the morning. I'm to tired right now." She closed her eyes falling back to sleep.

"Four sons!," he whispered, "No wonder you were having trouble walking my love." Ion stayed where he was and kept Opal warm. He had his ears perked forward as he watched the foals. There was a yellow blanket with a purple muzzle poking out and a dark purple blanket with purple splotches and light spots kind of like his own. A black, purple and green blanketed foal lay beside the others and finally there was a rainbow and white foal. The last reminded him a lot of Opal and he smiled. Their babies the future of the herd. And forever a place in his heart. Ion reached over and nuzzled the closest foal gently, it was the green and purple one. He smiled.

Ion was greeted with a small kick as the foal was disturbed. Then it went still and quiet once more sleeping peacefully at Opal's side.
For the first time in her life Opal started snoring. She must have been in a deep sleep. Rest was what the new mother needed at this point. She awoke through out the night as one foal or another wanted to nurse. She would move a little allowing the foal to nurse then fall back to sleep resting peacefully against Ion.

Ion snorted as he was kicked. Definately Opal's child that one. He went on to inspect the other foals further and found that the one that looked most like Opal seemed to like him the most, or it was just the mellowinst out of them all. He couldn't tell yet. He started when Opal began to snore. She never had before and he stared at her with wide eyes. He expected this of Tide but not of Opal. Apparantly giving birth made you snore. Hmm. He pondered and then went back to being her big black pillow and waited till morining. Occasionally bein disturbed when Opal shifted to let the foals feed. She was such a good mother.
