The State of Tennessee Andrew S. Hickory //////////////////////////////// Andrew blushed faintly at her sisterly kiss, but only hugged the older state a bit closer to him. "I know I broke my promise but... I ain't gonna 'pologize to him," he said stubbornly. "I meant what I said. I ain't givin' you or George or anyone back to him. I'll burn down his whole island myself 'fore I let that happen." Tennessee was glaring off to the side and his body was tense as he recalled the colonies' struggle for independence. It was during that chaotic time that Charlotte had first taken him into her house as a little brother and he would defend her house with every ounce of strength he had. For her and the others the Revolution had been a fight to break away from their "father" but for him it had been a fight for acceptance and unity with a real family. England had been the barrier between him and his siblings when he was a baby and Andrew couldn't stand the thought of that barrier going up again. He didn't want to be alone ever again. //////////////////////////////// Grade 9 The Volunteer <> <>

First In Flight The Tarheel State The Old North State
North Carolina, USA Charlotte Wilson Freshman So that's what's bugging him. "Oh hun, ya know I love ya and you're strong but I don't think you would be able to take him on by yourself." she stroke him softly and something occured to her. She gave a short laugh. "I know this is hard to believe but Arthur wasn't all that bad back then. He would always visit, smiling and every now and then he would show up injured but he didn't let that affect his time with Alfred. Of course eventually he didn't realize how quickly us states out grew him and many things happened after that." She paused a breif moment for Andrew to think about it before continuing. "But after meeting Arthur's oldest brother today I think I see how the gentleman got his personality." Suddenly the Carolina's expression turned DEAD serious. "by the way stay FAR away from Scotland." she wasn't being mean but protective and she went back to her normal sweet voice. "In a weird way you and Arthur are a like. Both of you struggled growing up to continue on living"(Out of Pepsi:) Southern Slang Dicitionary: everyone is called 'darling', "yall" is a proper noun, sweet tea is the house wine, and you never EVER disrespect your elders...

The State of Tennessee Andrew S. Hickory //////////////////////////////// Andrew's glare softened into a faint frown that was more reminiscent of a pout when he felt his sister's hands petting his hair. It was a little embarrassing, but he felt soothed and comforted much like when he was a little boy. He finally looked back at her with his normal calm, somewhat absentminded expression as she spoke to him. He knew she was right that he couldn't take on England alone and now that he was calmer he blushed a bit realizing what a bad situation it was he'd nearly gotten himself into. "Him?" Tennessee asked and wrinkled his nose with disbelief when Charlotte described a much different Arthur than he was used to. The younger state started to argue how impossible that was, but hesitated when he recalled the tears in England's eyes. Maybe, just maybe, there was a slight possibility the island nation wasn't quite as heartless as Andrew always assumed... It was possible at least. The moment Andrew saw his sister's serious face she had his full undivided attention since usually what followed that expression was either very important or a clue he would need to start looking for cover. The boy blinked at her warning. "Ok, I will," he said although he was perplexed by why he needed to keep away from Scotland. He'd never met the nation, of course, but his largest ancestral group were Irish-Scots and they always seemed ok to him. Tennessee made a face like he'd eaten something sour when Charlotte compared him to England. "No way! I'm nothin' like that lobsterback at all," he denied and refused to acknowledge any similarities. "He's stubborn, bad mouthed and always gettin' into fights with people," Andrew said with a snort of irritation, not realizing that description wasn't too far off from himself in several ways even if their personalities were totally different. //////////////////////////////// Grade 9 The Volunteer <> <>

North Carolina, USA Charlotte Wilson Freshman "Oh!" she said in a slight frustration. "I hope you didn't call him that while he was around." she sighed. Knowing Andrew he probably did. "Yes, always getting into fights, very much like someone else I know." she stared at her brother making a hint that he would most likely not get. The State of Tennessee Andrew S. Hickory //////////////////////////////// "George ain't all that bad," Tennessee said in his brother's defense as he failed to recognize what she really meant. Yes, Georgia was more likely to get into arguments than the more quiet state, but when it came to all out fights Andrew was the one who would probably either throw the first or last punch at someone. He made a point of not answering her when she talked about his bad habit of calling England either "lobsterback" or "red coat" although he couldn't quite look her in the eyes. Which was as good as a confession from him. Now that he was calmer, Tennessee had the decency to be ashamed and blushed heavily as he glanced over at France. He toed the ground as he finally let go of his sister and rubbed the back of his head. "Um... I'm awful sorry for losin' my temper like that," he muttered. "I shouldn't of started arguin' in someone else's home... I've been real disrespectful to you, Mr. France. I hope you can forgive me for actin' badly. I didn't mean to cause so much trouble for you and Cherelle." //////////////////////////////// Grade 9 The Volunteer <> <>

François BonnefoyThe Senior that Needs No Introduction~!****************************************************************************** Francis would usually jum at the chance to use an "I owe you one", but he decided that this one was best if he held it for something important. After all, Charlotte was a sweet girl, and her brother seemed to have been through enough without a nation hitting on her in front of him. (Yeah, even France has morals on these sort of things. What a shocker!)
He listened to the two as he went to the kitchen and grabbed a small snack since he hadn't eaten all day. He even popped open a bottle of wine. Yeah, it was still pretty early in the day, but... ******** it. He needed it. The two were lucky he hadn't already gone for his pack of cigarettes since he hadn't had the time for a smoke in a few days. (That was probably what caused part of his mood swings earlier today.) He took a seat in the living room not too far from where the two states were when he heard terrifying news. "Scotland is here... Merde. Maybe that psychopath was held back... Please let that psychopath be held back so he's Arthur and Ludwig's problem and not mine..." He took a good swig of the wine in his glass before sighing sadly. With France's luck... Scotland have moved on to be a Senior as well this year and was going to harass France for harassing England all. Year. Long...
He heard Tennessee apologize and looked up to him from where he had taken a seat. He shrugged his shoulders, obviously not bothered at all by the events that had happened. "Yeah, you're still young. You're allowed to make mistakes. Besides, it's never a full day for me without either Arthur yelling at someone in my house or having to figure out a way to stop someone from fighting. I'm just glad that you two didn't begin to beat on each other or break any of my things... Or animals for that matter." Almost as is on cue, the fluffy white cat with the silk rose around its neck rubbed up against Andrew and Charlotte's legs, purring loudly. Pierrot made some little noise, as if asking if it were safe to come out of hiding from the ornate cage that it had flown into earlier.

The State of Tennessee Andrew S. Hickory //////////////////////////////// Tennessee blushed at being called young. It probably would sound odd to a human for someone well over 200 years to be considered a child, but he knew next to a nation like France he was little more than an infant. "T-Thank you, sir," he said as he glanced down at the cat rubbing up against his legs. The state hadn't noticed it in the dorm earlier at all. "I appreciate you bein' so understandin' 'bout all that," Andrew muttered and felt a little awkward considering the nature of his next question. "Um... Earlier you said somethin' 'bout us bein' potential friends... Is that ok even if you're not gettin' along well with America? I've never made friends with a nation before so I'm not familiar with any rules involved... Well, except bein' friends with Cherelle, of course." Andrew wasn't really sure he was making sense and struggled for a moment to further explain himself. "I don't wanna cause you and America to fight any worse just 'cause I made a mistake," he said uncertainly. "I thought allies meant you were friends so I'm a little confused how this all works. He doesn't talk to me any 'bout these sorta things." //////////////////////////////// Grade 9 The Volunteer <> <>

François BonnefoyThe Senior that Needs No Introduction~!****************************************************************************** Francis smiled and chuckled. He calmly took a sip of his wine before he decided to answer the states questions. "If Alfred has an issue with his states making friends with the other nations, then he shouldn't have allowed you to come. It's as simple as that. We're here to learn to tolerate one another, so why not become friends, oui? If he bothers you about it, though, then tell him to take it up with me. I will personally tell him to mind his own business." He took a sip of his wine in between the pause, giving Tennessee a chance to take in what was just said.
He then moved on to answering the question of allies. "You probably have siblings you don't get along with all the time, but you fight to protect them, oui? Someone hurts them, and you run in to help them? It's sort of the same thing. Just because you're in an alliance doesn't mean you have to get along with that person. I just means you agree not to kill each other since it will benefit you both. How else would the Allied Forces have come to be? We had Russia in our group. The man scared everyone in the alliance, but yet we still fought by his side."

The State of Tennessee Andrew S. Hickory //////////////////////////////// "I s'pose that's true... We do fight every now and then and I guess I'm not that close with everyone, but we're all part of the Union so we take care of each other," Tennessee mused. It made sense the more he thought about it in terms of how he got along with his siblings. Heck, during the decades just after the end of the Civil War many of them had outright hated one another. Yet they still joined forces to fight the subsequent wars which crept up even with all their rivalries and hurt feelings between the regions. When France mentioned Russia Tennessee wrinkled his nose. The thought of working closely with Ivan bothered him especially after the earlier run in with Belarus. He wasn't convinced she hadn't secretly been sent by her brother to attack him. "Well, then, I'm glad I can call you a friend. Er... potential friend?" Andrew wasn't sure, but he had a bashful smile at the fact that it was even an option. It seemed he might be a little better at foreign relations than he thought. Maybe America would start trying to get along better with France if Tennessee became his friend or something. //////////////////////////////// Grade 9 The Volunteer <> <>

First In Flight The Tarheel State The Old North State
North Carolina, USA Charlotte Wilson Freshman 'So Francis doesn't get along with Scotland either. I shall make a mental note of that.'
Charlotte was thankful that France was patient to explain things to her brother that she would have difficulty with. The Carolina gave a nervous laugh when France reminded them of Russia. "Heh, not only do I see Mr. Ivan at the garden club but I room with both of his sisters..." she quietly commented. Andrew of course already knew of all this. She smiled, glad that at least these two were becoming good friends. "Drew, not to rain on your parade but the day isn't getting any younger and I'm sure Christian and Leilani are thinking that we're sure moving slower than a seven year itch." throwing a bunch of metaphors. "They're already at the park and I came back to find you and the rest of the family."(Out of Pepsi:) Southern Slang Dictionary: everyone is called 'darling', "yall" is a proper noun, sweet tea is the house wine, and you never EVER disrespect your elders...

The State of Tennessee Andrew S. Hickory //////////////////////////////// "Oh, right... I nearly forgot," Tennessee admitted as he blushed and gave his sister a sheepish look. "Sorry, a lot has happened since we talked 'bout it." Although he really didn't think Leilani would want to see him, but Christian and Charlotte would be sore if he bailed out. "It was nice talkin' to you, Mr. France," Andrew said with a polite nod. "Sorry again for all the trouble and thanks for everythin'. I figure I'll see you 'round." He decided to let Charlotte lead the way since she was the brains of the whole operation. //////////////////////////////// Grade 9 The Volunteer <> <>

François BonnefoyThe Senior that Needs No Introduction~!****************************************************************************** Francis chuckled lightly as his cat hopped into his lap and curled up. He began stroking the fluffy white feline's coat gently as he listened to the two speak. "Well, considering all we've been through in the time we've met, I suppose we count as friends. Just don't pick any fights with countries larger than you, alright? Adieu~!" Francis waved goodbye to the two states as they left. When they were gone, he sat his wine down, picked up the cat, and went over to close the door to the now silent dorm... Perhaps a day of silence where he could read his literature was in check. But first, he was going to finish his wine, maybe take a short nap on the couch, and then go dig his books out of their hiding place.

There are 3 rules in this school 1. Don't run in halls 2. Get along with everyone 3. Survival of the fittest Arthur Kirkland Student Vice President Member of the Disciplinary Committee JuniorThe brit took a route that allowed them to avoid the giant sky bird and safely to her dorm. His poor jacket was soaked but this was the sacrifice of a gentleman so it didn't really bother him. He had expected her to ask lots of questions and somewhat relieved that she didn't. Arthur didn't want her getting into this mess although a good amount of the school knew of it, others probably only knew bits and pieces. "I apologize for our lunch to be cut so short." He blushed and rubbed the back of his head as he didn't know what else to say. It wasn't like he had been on a date before, if you even counted this as a date. Cherelle smiled, seeing that Arthur couldn't find the words to say. "Well, even though we had to end it early, I did have a good time." She said, and although she was saying it to make him feel better about their lunch being cut short, she meant what she said.
