The Republic of Hungary
Elizaveta Héderváry

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elizaveta's eyes widened and her mouth dropped open in shock. "Rescue? He hasn't come out of his room since?" she gawked in horror as she gripped the material of her shorts. Was he really hurt that badly? Austria hadn't even sent her a single message in days. Had he even woken up yet...?
Hungary hesitated when she remembered Lili and she certainly didn't want to alarm the petite girl that it wasn't a good sign at all for someone to be in a coma that long. Quickly she shook off her own distress and smiled at Liechtenstein. "S-Sorry... I just can't believe he's been laying around so long!" she tried to cover. "Ludwig never should have allowed Mr. Austria to start mooching off others. It has made him so lazy since then!"
"You said you made a friend? Why don't you tell me about that," Elizaveta said to change the subject. "I'm glad you're getting to know others. I know you miss Vash, but I'm happy to see you branching out a little more."
Lili nodded softly. "At least he seems to eat and drink something. I always leave a little something for him to eat and give him plenty of water for him to stay hydrated." It was Lili's way of saying she didn't mind taking care of others if it meant she was being helpful to someone. Still, she was probably just about as worried about Roderich as Elizaveta. Who knows what happened that night...
at the mention of her friends, Lili looked up in thought.
"Well... One of my new friends is named Charlotte. She's one of America's states. Same with Leah. Both are really sweet, but in their own very separate ways... I also met Peter, Sealand. We were pretty good friends the first few days, but we haven't really talked much lately. He seems more interested in being around his brother, which is understandable, but..." She blushed bright red and sighed sadly. "The last time Peter technically talked to me was when he announced to the whole ninth grade I didn't have a date and that his brother Raivis should ask me. Raivis cried and I had to play it off that I was fine going on my own." The look on her face made it seem like the memory in itself made her want to cry. It really had been humiliating, and she wondered if she would ever be able to talk to Peter ever again. Not that it seemed he cared. He seemed like the type to move on quickly and not be hurt if he lost a friend or tow along the way...
She sighed lightly before looking up and going on.
"Mr. Ludwig and I seem to be on good terms, but we always have been, so i don't know if that really counts... Oh! I did make friends with Mr. Arthur! I even became friends with his little fairy and made her a dress since she was so helpful when i wasn't feeling well." The smaller nation smiled brightly, seeing nothing wrong with her statement of being friends with a fairy or making a dress for her. "And I know Big brother warned me not to, but... I think I'm pretty good friends with France and Spain. They even let me come to one of their parties a few nights ago. I tried being friends with this girl named Maureen, but Leah sort of hurt her feelings and I just couldn't get them both to stop fighting... Miss Ukraine sort of remembers me from when i helped Ivan out years ago, but I don't know if we count as friends yet or not. And I think I was friends with Alfred, but.... I think he hates me now." She she sighed with a light huff, puffing out her cheeks slightly as she finished that last statement. It seemed as though she had a pretty busy week. Still, all in all, she felt like she accomplished very little...
Hungary listened patiently and tried to keep a straight face, but when Lichtenstein brought up her friendships with France, Spain and Leah her eyebrow twitched subtly in annoyance. To her credit the smile on her face never faltered even as she internally cursed Switzerland for letting poor Lili grow up so sheltered and naive.
"W-well... It seems you've met a lot of interesting people, haven't you?" she chuckled wearily. Just hearing about it and refraining from any negative remarks had nearly worn her out. "I'm sure you'll be able to get along well with Peter and America again soon. You need to be patient with those two since they're still little kids deep down," Elizaveta pointed out. "They still have a great deal of growing and maturing to do. You can't take what they say personally."
Lili listened to what Hungary had to say. After all, she was older than her and had most likely been through some of the things Lili was having to deal with. Lili looked down and thought over what the elder girl said, lightly nibbling her lower lip as she thought. Finally, she looked up to Elizaveta and smiled brightly with her usual flush back on her cheeks. "Thank you for that word of advice, Miss Elizaveta. You're right. I shouldn't take any of it personally. After all, Meter meant well, and Alfred was already in a bad mood."
"That's the spirit," Hungary said with a soft chuckle and warm smile for the younger nation. It was good to see Lili bright and cheerful again. Elizaveta gave the girl's hair a gentle ruffle, making sure not to mess up her cute little ribbon in the process. "I'm so proud of you. Sometimes it seems like things are bad or upsetting, but even those are good experiences to have every now and then. Try to learn something new from everything you encounter."
"But, remember, if anyone bullies you, just come to me and I'll straighten them out, ok?" Hungary said as she pretended to make a muscle while giving a playful wink.
Hungary blinked when she heard her cell phone give a little chime announcing she had a new text. The lonely wife nearly snatched it out of her pocket with the anticipation that Austria might have finally contacted her. Her eyes flickered with momentary disappointment to see Italy as the sender, but she smiled anyway. It was always good to hear from him.
"Excuse me, Lili," she apologized for checking her text in the middle of their conversation. As Elizaveta's eyes scanned the message they narrowed with suspicion. Germany was on a date with a girl? Why would he do that when he had sweet little Italy? This was most peculiar and it certainly couldn't go without investigation.
"Say... how would you like to go see a movie with me?" Hungary asked as she smiled at Liechtenstein. "It sounds like Ludwig and Italy are watching something..." Very un-Germany. "... interesting. You enjoy romantic comedies, right?"
Lili smiled, happy to hear that Hungary was willing to help her out if someone did try to pick on er. She hadn't had problems yet this year, but there probably would be one person who would want to pick on a small nation like Liechtenstein despite her lack of an army to fight back.
When her cell phone went off, she two hoped it was Austria. If Mr. Roderich was texting Elizaveta, then that meant he was all better. Lili excused Elizaveta and waited patiently for her to read her text. However, it seemed that it was not Austria that had contacted her. When Hungary asked Lili if she wanted to watch a movie with her, she smiled happily.
"I don't really have a particular genre I like more than others since I rarely treat myself to a movie, but a romantic comedy sounds like it could be interesting." She looked down at her basket. Hmm... Not all of the contents could sit out for an entire movie. Not that it mattered. The theature probably frowned upon people bringing food into it. she then got an idea. she smiled to Hungary and bowed her head. "I'll be right back." She ran off and found a cash register not too far from produce. She asked the person working if they would mind holding her food while she went to go do something. The man almost told her they didn't allow them to hold produce for customers, but.... The look on her face as he started to say it caused him to add on a "But I'll do this for you... Just this once." Oh, if only he knew that just set him up for future events like this to happen. Not that she would ever abuse it. It just seemed that after someone caves into her whims the first time, it's hard not to cave in afterwards.
She ran back to Hungary, her hands free of her wicker basket and its contents.
"Sorry about that. I'm ready when you are~!" She felt really happy to get to be included on an outing with Miss Elizaveta. Maybe this meant the older girl saw her as a friend!
Elizaveta almost felt sorry for the cashier as she watched Liechtenstein in action. He nor Lili had no idea what a vicious cycle they had begun. She chuckled and shook her head with a soft smile. One day maybe she would tell Lili what a terrifying power she had, but for now it was something the younger nation didn't need to know.
"Let's go then," Hungary said cheerfully as she lead the way. She was going to get to the bottom of Ludwig's supposed date and Lili's unique talents might actually come in handy for fishing information from him. That and the little princess really did need to start spending more quality time around other girls.
Christian arrived at the General Store. He had searched around the town for a little, even passed the dark alley where he got some harsh stares from the local thugs, before he found it. Sure, he could have just asked a local where ti was, but where's the fun in that? There's no adventure to asking for directions!
He picked up a shopping basket and went to the food section, determined to find a way to replace all the food he, his kin, and some of his kin's friends had consumed this morning...
After debating on whether Emil should have followed Berwald and Mathias to the café or get a quick medication for his asthma, he decided to get his meds instead. Health was important to him, especially because his asthma was triggered so easily, but so was family. He really didn't want to risk having an allergy attack at all during the year. Walking through the many aisles searching for his medication, his thirst for his favorite beverage occured to him. 'Hopefully, this store has Coca-Cola... I haven't a can of some since I departed from the airport.'*
Christian reached into one of the small fridges in the store that were used for holding beverages to drink while shopping and popped open the can of Coke that he had selected. He smiled as he listened to that satisfying pop and sizzle that came with opening a fresh can of Coke. After a few seconds of just admiring the sound and scents from the can, he lifted it to his lips and took a good couple of chugs from it, feeling the bubbly tickle of the carbonation running down his throat. After he had downed almost half the can, he lowered it from his lips and smalled with a satisfied, "Ah. That was just what I needed. Hmm... I'm gonna need to buy more if I'm gonna last through the school year. Should I get Andy that Mountain Dew he likes so much? ...Pfft. Nah. Like I'd give my money to Pepsi. If he wants it so bad, he can drag his lazy bumm to the store or learn to love Coke~!" He gave a light chuckle before pulling a list from his pocket and looking it over.
"Let's see. I need milk, eggs, ham, bacon, break, peaches, apples, blueberries, strawberries, sugar.... Syrup! I knew I almost forgot the syrup. Why is it I never think to write that one down." He pulled out a pen and scribbled that on his list before he looked up in thought. "I know I need more. Hmm... i should think this over a little more 'fore I go lookin' for stuff..."
The Republic of Hungary
Elizaveta Héderváry
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hungary chatted with Liechtenstein the entire way back to the General Store about various topics ranging from the weather to recent politics in Europe. It was good to hear the little nation's opinion even if she didn't have the loudest or most influential voice among their neighbors. Lili was a very smart young lady and could be quite intuitive about many things even if she was painfully naive at times. More than once Elizaveta was surprised by her observations. Between bickering with Romania and Prussia or working with Austria and Poland she was sometimes too swept up in everyone's chaos to sit back and properly evaluate things.

When they reached the General store she allowed their current conversation to die out before turning to the younger girl. "Are you done with your shopping? I haven't even started mine, to be honest," she said with a chuckle. "Next time we should plan to do our grocery shopping together. Would that be alright with you?"

Lili followed Elizaveta and chatted with her on their way back to the movie theature. It was nice getting to catch up on some of the things she had missed with the Germanic family and some of the "family friends", and it seemed Lili had known about things that Elizaveta hadn't. at the same time, thugh, it was to be expected. With Switzerland handling most of Lili's affairs, she did have more free time than many of the other European nations. Still, she did mention how she wished Big Brother would stop trying to shoot Italy at 2 in the morning whenever he crossed through their yard to get to Germany's house. Italy seemed like a sweet guy, plus it did get slightly annoying waking up to the sound of gunshots far earlier than you planned to be awake... (And a few times this had caused Lili to accidently see things she really didn't want to see since the Italian also had a habit of forgetting pants... Thankfully, though, she had only seen Italy from behind as he was running away.)

When they arrived, Lili smiled and nodded lightly.
"Yeah. I finished most of my shopping. I just have a few more items to get before I need to go back and unpack my groceries. You're right, though, we really do need to set up a time when we can hang out again. Today's been pretty fun."

"You have my phone number, don't you?" Elizaveta asked knowing she had told Austria many times to make sure he gave it to Liechtenstein in case of emergencies. Primarily emergencies that had to do with a certain trio giving their little princess a hard time... but also so Lili could contact her for anything else she might need. Roderich could be a little spacy at times so it was possible he had gotten lost in his own contact list and given up. "When you want to talk with me feel free to call or text at any time," Hungary encouraged the shy girl. "It would hurt my feelings if you didn't." She chuckled to let the girl know she was only teasing her about that last part.

The green eyed nation picked up a shopping basket of her own and pulled out a nice sized list. Really! It was a wonder Luz Maria and Maureen hadn't starved without her to look after the pantry. "I have a lot of shopping to do and I wouldn't want your food to spoil, so why don't you go ahead?" She paused when a thought came to her that Lili might not realize she was also invited to dinner. "I hope you'll also be coming to dinner tonight. Feel free to bring a friend, too."
