"No. Even friends of the 'well off' kind don't really like each other. I just haven't had any companionship in such a long time, and why not do some charity while making a friend, right?" Vero taped her nails on the table as she looked at the opening that lead to the kitchen.

"So, I'm a charity case to you?" Vivian was not happy about that implication. Not one bit. Although she often found herself picking up dropped pennies and picking through a purse without the owner knowing, she was NOT going to let this girl do charity work on her. Standing up and taking a deep breath of the scent coming from the kitchen, she prepared to leave.

Narrowing her eyes and crossing her arms loosely, she sat down, furious and expecting an explanation. "What do I get for trusting you? First you threaten to turn me in, then promise I can rip out the elf boy's throat and now, I'm a charity case!"

"You get what ever you want to eat when ever and comfortable bed under a solid roof. You also get a jump start to your life." Vero smiled slyly for a second then got all excited when she saw the food, she almost let herself slip into an animal form in the moment.

Almost enchanted by the smell of the apples so close to her, Vivian had to fight to keep herself from scarfing it all immediately. "But, as it is, I have plenty of food and a place to sleep in a relatively stable area..."

"But for how much longer? Do you plan on living on the streets your entire life?" Vero picked up the burger and took a satisfying bite. She had to stay with this girl no matter what, even if she had to go back to being street rabble. The bell on her belt sounded at that thought.

Her ear twitching at the sound of the bell that first alerted her to the presence of the strange girl, Vivian looked at Vero, watching her eat, wanting to know what her plan was. "Only for now. We're saving up money for work stuffs and we were planning on buying the huge cabin near the lake. Sure, we've been saving since the beginning, but that's nothing..." She trailed off, thinking of the "huge cabin." In reality, it was a rather small shed, barely big enough for Vivian and her last remaining friend to lay down in at the same time, but it would make do. It was better than what they had now.

"Like a...." She pause, trying to think of what her friend at home had called people like that before. "A maid, right? That's what they're called?" Finally venturing to take a bite of the apple treat in front of her, she picked up the slice of pie with her finger and carefully took a bite.

"It's... different. I don't think I've ever had this before..." Taking another bite, Vivian decided she liked the treat, the corners of her mouth twitching slightly.

"Is that enogh, or do you want more?" Vero pulled her wallet out of pocket and looked through it, counting silently. She also waved to the waitress to come over when she was done with the table she was serving.
