The last of the youma, the one trapped between the desk and the wall that Hypnos had pinned, finally exerted the last of its energy and joined it blood as nothing but a pile of dust. As a result, the desk that was being used to pin the youma to the wall inadvertently hit the wall and sent the child falling forward from the surprise. It was safe and the small child cried out as she leaned against the desk, exhausted and left with a broken school. So much had happened and now it was finally over.
She found she was slipperless, but at this point finding them was near the bottom of her list. They would hop home all by themselves but her cat Cora certainly wouldn't. She quickly scrambled over to her and carefully scooped her tired and wound-tended cat into her arms. Her eyes were teary as she began to pet the cream fur carefully as she wandered over to Hygiea.
"Thank you for helping her," she said. "I hope we can meet again on better terms, my friend Hygiea."
With that, the child ran and ran until the school was nothing but an afterthought in the distance. The school would be in such a panic that the fact Ainsley hadn't gone back to class wouldn't even had been noticed. The students who hadn't already fled the school were probably all being sent home by the time Ainsley was back at home. Bell seemed to be missing, probably attending to daily duties, and Ainsley was able to carefully slip inside and up to her bedroom with Cora. She would carry the cat to the corner of her room, under the bed and with the curtains hanging under the bunk bed drawn, for the rest of the day. No way, she was not leaving this bedroom. It would just be her, Cora and her tears.
